sniperwolf:people like you make me sad. You want to sell stolen isos for N2000? why not give them to him at a much lower price? You can't code your way out of a paper bag, the least you can do to contribute to the scene is to give out these games for a reasonable price, if only to offset the cost and time of downloading or ripping them. finito! and you need to pick the audience you lie to; many people here know that god of war isn't availiable for psp at the moment. |
aypompin:i hate to always be the bubble burster, but if you truly live in Nigeria, you'll never be able to use the iphone within the next 8 - 12 months minimum. it's strictly tied to a contract. Seun:umm. . .portability? unless your laptop fits in your pocket and you can carry it around with you! Pocket PC phones (like the exec and TyTN) can't replace laptops, but it helps to do some simple computing tasks on the go, in places u can't carry your laptop to! |
mukina2:maybe, just maybe you might've gotten away wit it if d pic wasn't named 'razorr.jpg'. . . ![]() |
The funniest thread on nairaland. She is darker than Akon
The funniest? No. The meanest? Quite possibly. Let everyone have their fantasies. if you've got criticisms, let her know as gently as possible. I haven't seen the so-called photo yet, but for the poster to change photo and sex, that shows the vultures here have gotten to her. i dunno about you, but i get no joy spoiling someone's day. At least, not often. . . |
Y'all amuse me, squabbling among yourselves about "who invented this" and "how secure is this device" I havent seen people talk about the most important issues: Even if we put on our rose-tinted glasses and assume this thing works as promised, how much does it cost?. the 'patriot' helpfully failed to mention the per-unit cost of this device. You can be sure, however, that this machine will cost tens of thousands of Naira. Considering the fact that thousands of such devices have to be produced, isn't this going to be prohibitively expensive? also, consider the size/weight of the device. naturally, to minimize rigging voting devices/ballot boxes have to be shipped to their areas of use at most 48 Hrs before the election. Think of the logistical nightmare of carrying these units around the country. he makes no mention of any fingerprint recognition system, but if there was, you can bet your left testicle that he'd have mentioned it. So we have to assume there's not. So what stops thugs loyal to Adedibu et al from massively voting? isn't that counted as rigging too? Finally, if you're an Agbero or tout, you should start praying they use this in the 2011 elections. There's a FREE 12V car battery in all of these machines. Smash away!! ![]() |
bjigun:Don't be silly. How much has the price of Apple's iPod dropped? besides, don't believe the myth; the first crop of hardware doesn't always have to be buggy, especially as the iPhone hardware is pretty decent. any bugs in the OS will be fixed with firmware updates. 500000 units sold in the first weekend alone. unless you feel half a million people 'no get common sense' you need to recheck YOUR views. soulpatrol:A hefty percentage of early adopters switched from a different carrier to AT & T. Those guys must be smiling to the bank now ![]() |
lol! Sorry to dissapoint you, my man, but i run a genuine copy of Norton Antivirus and Windows XP MCE. My laptop came with it, you see. also, not one of the software running on my laptop came from Otigba. Selling a laptop at an inflated price (because of software useful to YOU) is an unusual business model, you havta admit. Anyway, i'm glad we've had a civil discussion so far. i'm not tryin to spoil your business, in fact i usually watch out for what you have on offer in case i need to grab something from you. i just feel you could lower the laptop price somewhat. . . So. . .when will you have the iPhone in stock? ![]() |
kdships:Surely you jest. If the software is original and not pirated, by all means sell the CD separately if the software's that good. I'm sure 105% of the people you pitch this to will prefer you remove such Bloatware apps from the HDD before you sell it to them. I can bet anything that contrary to what you say, Bitdefender can be bought from Otigba. there are guys there who actually know how to run Bittorrent clients and they'll surprise you. Hell, why not even Norton Antivirus (which is prolly the easiest to update) Listing Adobe Acrobat Reader (a 100% free download) as one of the pre-installed software tht makes this a good buy is kinda lame. Autocad 2007/8 can prolly be bought in Otigba for 300 Naira. This laptop shouldnt weigh in more than 60K, and i suspect you know that. |
No it's not! it's a terrible, terrible, horrible deal and you should rightly feel foolish for wasting money if you go through with the deal. don't buy a celeron laptop for more than 110/100K. i wouldnt even recommend u buy a celeron laptop anyway. BTW, 100GB is pretty much standard fare in laptops nowadays, so dont let the seemingly big hdd space fool you. for 150k you can buy a powerful Core Duo with a dedicated 3D Gfx card, 1gb RAM and at least 100GB. |
Wait a sec! The iPhone isn't $600. it's $600 with a 2 year contract tying you to Cingular. Buying the iPhone when/if it finally becomes availiable standalone will cost a whole lot more. And the way apple's selling it, you buy it, then you connect it to itunes and then you choose the payment plan you want. so if you buy it without signing the Cingular contract, you can't use it. omogenaija:Sorry to burst your rose-colored bubble, but Apple ain't Motorola. the iPhone will hit $200 in maybe 4 years time. Not before. But seriously, why buy a crippled 'smartphone' that isn't really smart, you can't install 3rd party app son it, and worse of all, it doesn't have 3G!! Considering the fact that all the major networks in naija will be rolling out their new 3G service later this year, not having 3G sucks massively. Yes, the browser's cool, but try loading pages on GPRS. One more thing: Unlike 99% of other smartphones out there, the iPhone cannot edit or create Excel, Word or PDF files. In fact, you cannot even set your Mp3 files as ringtones except you buy them from Apple's site. . . |
kdships:considering the fact that the laptop in question isn't exactly 'sleeky' (bordering on damned fugly ) and 80K is a mite expensive for an ageing P4 with a miserly 30GB hdd and no dvd burner, you should consider sounding a tad more accommodating.then again, that's just my opinion ![]() |
benit:There is no 'similar case' here. Is it a crime for a guy not to like a girl again? The guy just isn't interested in a relationship with her, that doesn't mean he's gay or terrible or 'not worth it'. if you gals don't gree for every guy that toasts you fervently, why should the reverse not be the case? @Poster The problem is you've convinced yourself this guy's the perfect one for you, your Mr. Right. he's not interested and you're rejecting good men because you're chasing perfection. Give urself a break and stop trying for your perception of 'perfect'. find someone else to love (and more important, who loves you back) and turn your back on this destructive obsession. |
the topic should be changed to 'How many times did you take UME for yourself', because if the truth be told, lotsa guys (and girls) have written many JAMbs even after admission as part of 'machinery' action ![]() Had a guy i usedta know in Uni called kenbynz. guy wrote JAMB, SSCE, NECO, hell he woulda written common entrance if the price was right ![]() |
Onyema1:'Bitter truth' my arse. YOU sound really bitter. For you to say that most of the people that enter Unis in Naija didn't write their own JAMB, that speaks volumes for your own level of ignorance. If you're so much of an olodo, then dont seek to tar others with the same brush Wrote my own JAMB as a tiny, fearful 15 year old. finished my english with 20 mins to spare, the incompetent JAMB officials refused to hand over the remaining subject combination until after the english timem had elapsed andn the combination time had begun, then they started sharing the other papers. How did they do it? they'd go to the first person and ask him what he wanted, then they'd go rummage through the pile and get it for him, all at a pace that'd make a snail look supersonic. I started my JAMB 25 mins later after i begged someone in front to please tear out his Maths section so i could start. Scored 207. And i became an engineering student soon afterward Jamb of May 24th 1997. highest in naija less than 270. Not like these high-scoring JAMBs we got nowadays. . . |
@ bashtech - about the link you gave above - are you saying one can install macOS X on a PC? I thought you bought the whole shindig i.e. the hardware (CPU, and shit) and software (OS)??
There's a hacked version of mac OsX tiger out that can run on x86 pcs. However, you'll need a goodly specced system (no trying to install on Pentium 3s) and it's not without its fair share of bugs and glitches. i've checked high and wide for a direct link download to the file, but it seems to be only on Bittorrent networks. simply search torrent sites for mac osx86. check http://forum.osxx86.info/index.php for more info |
@gbade.x you challenged darkie to an FPS battle? And Unreal Tournament, no less? Why, oh Why, did you not challenge him in an FPS he hasn't even played (eg Daikatana) instead of something he eats, sleeps and masticates daily? Gbade.x just dialled 1-800-Asswhupping, and that ain't no toll-free call ![]() Nyugga shoulda stuck to Ayo Opon. . .The Rod shall be cast upon him and palm kernel shall be broken on his bare buttocks. LOL! |
globalaid: sartorius:I strongly believe that you two do not live in Nigeria. For someone to say that the strike action was uncalled for, even after the unpalatable increase in prices of goods and services as a result of the hike in fuel prices, even after the unjustified increase in fuel price you can still say the action was 'political' and 'uncalled for'? Let's not even go into the sale of our national heritage (the Refineries) to a growing monopoly in Nigeria at bargain basement price. hell, if these guys wanted to operate refineries, why not give them land and special grants to build theirs, so at least we have more refineries? isn't the high fuel price because of the importation of refined fuel? people much poorer than yourselves are suddenly paying N20 more for transport, becoming unable to afford cooking fuel (kerosene) and you seem so uncaring about the whole issue. the truth is, short-sightedness will be the bane of Nigeria and Nigerians. Without any vehement protest, fuel price will hit N120 before the next 3 years, and we'll all be alive to see it. The common Nigerian is a coward. that's an inescapable comment. Ukrainians camped outside in subzero weather for weeks to force a bad government out. South africans have been on strike now for weeks. strikers in france stay on protest for weeks to FORCE the government to meet most of their demands. and now, even after days of strenously advising Nigerians to stockpile food and other neccessary amenities, all we hear is 140million people (minus the elites) snivelling and whining that they want to go back to work after 3 days of 'protest'. Yes, the strike might have seemed to place a great 'hardship' on the 'common man'. But the extra N5 increase in fuel price will place a gradual but inexorable hardship on the common man for the next 12 months (at least) but hey, that doesn't concern you two, does it? |
My Specs Intel Core Duo 1.66Ghz 120Gb HDD Geforce go 7600 DVD-RAM/+RW drive 1gb ram Someone here said he's got a 3.2ghz core 2 duo. That's a frickin' lie! not even the core 2 quads go up to 3.2ghz |
Neoteny:You can't upgrade I-maje jam. that's a known fact. i suggest you consider upgrading ASAP! |
All Xbox 360 owners rejoice! Gamespot just did the second episode of their 360 vs PS3 head-to-head and guess what? The PS3's getting its arse whupped (albeit by a small margin) in most of the multiplatform games tested. Check out http://www.gamespot.com/features/6171831/index.html for the full article. hey! Wait a fricking minute! why do i even care when i have a ps3 and 360?! |
@dakmanzero Thou art truly a man of iniquity! but seriously, for like 6k you can get a geforce 6 gfx card at otigba ( i think!). why rely on the crappy intel graphics accelerator? not sure if you guys realize this, but UT GOTY is a 1999 game. pls, u dont need beyonce to upgrade urself, go spend a li'l dough and get wasted!! |
Seun:forget what's in the movies: the official star wars canon ranks Dooku as the best swordsman in the Order, second only to Yoda. he's actually supposed 2 have lost to Anakin by underestimating him. . . dakmanzero, for you to say the pod racer scenes were crappy in Ep1, you should know that that's the favorite part of the movies for many fans |
the buzz on Engadget is that Safari for windows falls way short of what Steve Jobs was mouthing off about. hell, i'm pretty used to him giving empty promises and speeches (my 5G Video ipod doesn't last 2/3rd of the 12 hrs i was promised). the buzz is, it renders some pages ugly, doesnt have the compatibility of firefox, for some it's actually slower than firefox and IE and it has some annoying features. that said, it could be argued that it's a beta version and we should cut it some slack, but not many ppl were ready to forgive IE7 beta it's flaws, so we oughtta judge 'em both with the same weighty stick! |
dakmanzero:nice of u 2 do that, dmz! lemme know i can help out. |
@bigrovar Nice work you're doing here, man! To all VAIO users, what're u guys whining on here about? if your system is rated vista capable, vista drivers exist on the sony website. I've installed all the drivers and they work perfectly. I'm currently dual-booting xp and vista on my vaio fe21M To all those saying 'vista sucks' i feel great pity for you. this is a new OS, and it's definitely gonna have teething problems. most of the apps not workin gon vista have newer versions out or drivers and patches out or in the works. Formatting vista for Xp isn't the answer, especially if yours is a genuine copy of Vista, in which case you've shot yourself in the foot. Some unscrupulous manufacturers pre-install vista on a 512MB system. please if you're running vista on such a system, upgrade to 1GB asap. also, get a decent gfx card to run the Aero interface. I strongly support what Microsoft has done with vista. It's gonna drag us all, kicking and screaming into the modern era. I see no reason why we shouldnt insist on at least 1gb of RAm in our systems, and at least a 128MG gfx card for gaming, autocad and 3d packages. Anyone buying a laptop or desktop should aim for at least a pentium 4. of course, there'll always be people tryign to install vista on pentium 3s with 256Mb RAM. IMHO, 70% of those who complain about vista on NL are guilty of that crime! |
I'm surprised y'all see the need to waste your time arguing defensively with this guy. he lost me when he started warbling on about flash-heavy sites. Hell, even Adobe's site isn't flash heavy. . . |
Seun:So many times people don't know what they want! As i stated before, the iPod announcement was greeted with great skepticism. with linux and other open source OSes making inroads into what was traditionally an almost all windows market, M$ needs to work on new and innovative products to keep the cash coming in. it isn't about resting on your laurels and churning out new OS versions every couple of years. It's about expanding your market. Hell, why do you think Shell, Chevron and Mobil are energy companies, not strictly oil companies? it's because they realise that the oil will run out someday and they need to work on new, renewable sources of Energy. That's smart thinking, expanding your horizons! Seun:You disappoint me! By now every man and his dog knows that google has a web based office suite out there. it's not yet as advanced as MS Office, but it's pretty decent. Initial impressions show that it's quite suitable for use in small to medium scale businesses, and it's getting better. Please research. Seun:No. By saying 'their customers' you mean people like you, don't you? Corporate customers bring in a large volume of MS profits, and this kind of technology can easily come in useful to select customers. Hell, the surface technology was demoed in use in departmental stores and phone retail centres. Some stuff on Surface https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cog8b8ojji0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xZnyC09QbA |
@poster It's brainless to generalize so much! How did celebrity hating become something that 'people in naija' do?! u sure u're in the US? there's loads of blogs dedicated to criticising celebs. Hell, even some magazines and tabloids are dedicated to that same task. In contrary, most of our mags (from Ovation down to Hints) exist solely to glorify celebs and the idle rich. besides, we should be happy we've got it so good in naija. we don't usually have stalkers, anonymous callers and freakos/sickos after our celebs! When last did anyone get arrested for stalking 2face? ![]() |
@Linuxproph I'm glad you realize you're whining. spare us the sentimental bullshit and focus on the product you're here to advertise. If it doesn't strike you as funny that the GSM handsets and GPRS tech are as foreign as the blackberry service you're criticizing, then i don't know what to say to ya! |
@Seun No. What you're actually saying is that Microsoft should stagnate. If they kep churning out OS versions every 4 years, how will they keep on top? if Google has 'listened to their consumers' and remained a search engine company, how would they have emerged as a pretty serious threat to MS? Hence Microsoft delving into new markets, with new technology. and the truth is, it'll take something really radical to change the way we do things. After all, what's the biggest gripe about vista? people are saying it doesn't do too many things different from Xp. So restricting yourself to an OS business is corporate suicide. But here's a far better example; In 2001 when Apple announced plans to release a line of mp3 players called the 'ipod', shareholders revolted, business analysts predicted doom and gloom. had they 'listened to consumers' they'd never have sold 100 million ipods and reawakened public perception about the Apple brand. |
@DeviceMan if you must hop around Nairaland promoting Race Telecoms, at least try and post the URL to their website. |
