not really sure how much i'm worth, or how much i wanna disclose made my first million at 23 though. . . |
For those evil minded trolls jubilating that a bridge collapsed, killing many innocent civillians, i hope they get to experience the same thing. Even if anti-americanism is the current fad among all the intellectually challenged, some sort of humanity and concern for the injured and dead is in order. Instead we're seeing fools on NL squabbling over the number of dead people and crafting nonsensical conspiracy theories of death-toll cover ups. Pathetic |
opra did https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-68514.0.html
No she didn't. The poster and all the legions of haters were unable to provide any concrete proof apart from that unsubstantiated article in the Punch, and links to random forums like this one, all in turn quoting the Punch article. not exactly the most trustworthy of sources, is it? nairaland unfortunately is riddled with idiots like you. the average Nairaland user is far more likely to research the sources of a post that says 'genevieve is dating Jim Iyke' than 'Oprah says all Nigerians are corrupt'. |
Osuofia should give it a rest jo! How can he claim he didnt know the effects his song would have? He saw a means to capitalize on the 419 craze in naija and he deliberately did that song to make money. I don't buy his claims that it's just the soundtrack to his movie. Hundreds of home videos come out weekly, each with its own soundtrack. How many of those are made into videos? How many of these are made into hit tracks in music albums? His hand isn't clean. As for his story, i'll go off the deep end only when i hear the dutch police side of the story. To all those who see Naija through rose-tinted glasses, here's the kicker; Tribalism hurts most Naijans far more than racism. Go figure. |
the only thing i've gleaned so far is that many ppl here don't have the faintest idea how to participate in a discussion forum. It's been showed pages ago that the article is a friggin user-submitted article in the Punch, that it has no basis and in fact it's downright untrue. Yet we see people busting in here and dissing Oprah for no good reason. Even worse, some people are here expressing tacit support for crime originating from Nigeria. Weird maverick1: maverick1:What's a dumbo like you getting all worked up for? Did you see any evidence she said that before you started spouting insults? It isn't so hard to read, is it? And truly, if she reads this, she'll laugh at your insignificant threats. When you stop playing at being tough, calm down and let you brains kick in. |
denex:It's really fashionable to be anti-american nowadays. I, for one, am extremely apprehensive of China's growing influence in African matters. Pound for pound, they are a more disturbing prospect than the Americans. As to China's international image, I fail to see what you're seeing. CHina's image is at a high, compared to their image in the late 80s and the mid 90s as a brutal communist regime, with serious human rights issues. They're actually hosting the next olympics for Okoro's sake! andyzoga:Simplistic conspiracy theory ridden reasoning. ![]() But then again, we've seen the excellent way Chinese treat Nigerians both within and outside Nigeria, havent we? |
look, let me break this down into simple english. Oprah Winfrey is an American. as such, she remains patriotic. She runs a show in which she strives to touch lives and protect people in need. For the past 10 years (or more) some Nigerians (tens of thousands of them at last count) strive mightily to deprive and defraud americans of their hard earned cash. So far, thousands of Americans have been defrauded, and lots more potential victims exist, due to lack of information and too much trust. The only way to stop this 419 is to make it unattactive to the guys doing it, or to make them see the error of their ways. Sadly, the efforts of the Nigerian anti-419 agency is not enough to severely dent these activities, and in many cases EFCC agents collude with the guys. Next was to see if Nigerians could bring about a social revolution, make these 419 see the error of their ways. but anyone hoping for a solution through this means did not reckon on the now totally compromised Nigerian mindset. for example, in all recent discussions on this issue in Nairaland, the most popular Nigerian online forum, more than half of the respondents blamed the proliferation of 419 on 'greedy white men' and lack of Jobs available. This inexplicable logic sought to remove the blame from Nigerians, and deposit it elsewhere, despite the fact that 80% of these 419 guys are secondary school leavers and undergraduates who have yet to experience a day of unemployment. Thus we can conclude that most of the users of Nairaland, and hence numerous Nigerians have some sort of sympathy for these 419 guys, these THIEVES! It now seems clear that the only way to make 419 unattractive to these Naija guys is to dry up their source of income, to sensitize everyone on the dangers of doing such business. Hence Oprah Winfrey as a patriotic American dedicated a show to highlight how destructive the effects of being scammed are, and to alert the general public to this menace. But that isn't all. She did what many people wouldn't do; she ended her show imploring her viewers not to believe that all Nigerians are 419. In my books that's pretty decent of her. And what does she get in return? Blindly patriotic Nigerians showering abuses on her, pages and pages of it. As far as i'm concerned, she's done nothing wrong. What baffles me is it's plain to see that there's no case against her, and i'm shocked to see so many people who i've always thought to be intelligent (Gamine, why?) start abusing her. @all We've got a serious problem here. STep back and take a good look at your country. DO you really love Nigeria? Then let's look at this together. Has Nigeria really been improving? Are we much better off now than 20 years ago? Are our elctions more free and fair than those in the last 20 years? The truth is, we're stalled at best, going in reverse at worst. Corruption is at a higher peak than it once was, there's more insecurity in the country now than there was in say 1996. But we do not recognise this. Blindly patriotic Nigerians keep spouting phrases like 'Giant of Africa' and 'The Western world is afraid of us'. It's hilarious, really. I see these guys as traitors. . .because their attitudes will never let Nigeria grow. we stifle constructive criticism all in the name of patriotism. pathetic. But then again, it's funny that we export millions of Home Videos depicting Nigerians as ritual killers, drug barons and 419 kingpins. And yet we howl when we hear that Oprah did a show warning americans to beware of Nigerian scam mails. Pathetic. If you must, keep mouthing all these blind patriotic slogans while our country decays around us. Read Animal Farm and see how far that took Boxer. Here's a hint: He was killed by the same leaders he blindly worshipped. go figure |
At times i am deeply shamed by the way some of y'all on Nairaland run off at the mouth without analysing issues first. Imagine the amount of Vitriol poured out on Oprah by so many people for an unsubstantiated story. I clicked the link in the original story, and i realized that the 'story' was submitted by a reader, not even regular front line Punch staff, and it appeared nowhere else on any other reputable news site on the internet. This topic, this discussion has spanned 13 pages so far. 13 pages filled with typical Nigerian blind patriotism and sheer relentless stupidity. Yet the sad thing is, many of the people condemning Oprah over a story that is 99.99% false, are people i've accepted as intelligent people. denex:Seek help. This woman has touched far more lives around the world than you have. your blind patriotism is no excuse for your exceedingly stupid statements. |
If this is true (and it must be for y'all to be talking about this so fervently) then it's a crying shame. millions of people all over the world are suffering from HIV/AIDS, and the steer from the WHO (which has been accepted by the Nigerian Government) is that we should not discriminate against HIV positive people. This is a great travesty indeed. How do these guys live meaningful lives if they aren't allowed to graduate and make progress with their lives? As far as i know, he may not have commited any crime by pursuing this line of action. But Bishop Oyedepo should ask himself how much Christian Charity he shows by this action. Unfortunate. |
@dakmanzero that argument doesn't hold water. d GoW demo isn't even released yet. besides, correct me if im wrong, but there are no pirated UMDs yet. @pheesayour you've just wasted ur cash. and egold or nt, you've been scammed |
@Ralvy And your point is? You made yourself vulnerable to RontokBro either by visiting the wrong sites, or accepting infected media into your PC. usually the AntiVirus guys are the first to know of new updates to a virus (or new viruses) and they respond speedily. Try and update your virus definitions weekly. it could be done automatically as i'm sure you know. Norton Internet security 2007 has an inbuilt phishing filter to help you detect fake /spoof sites. Use it. I appreciate your advice for me to keep aimlessly searching google and reading up random topics. However, if you had been following your advice you'd find out that contrary to your earlier claims, W32/Brontok o it's derivatives will not prevent your OS from booting. and it isn't a trojan; it's a worm. Anyone who downloads and runs so-called 'brontok washers' from dodgy sites need to have their head examined. |
sniperwolf:Don't be an ignorant bitch. Must i direct you to Joystiq and their recent playtest of a preview build of GoW on PSP during the just concluded E3? Are you aware that the eagerly awaited demo isn't even out yet? You don't belong here. Go expand your horizons (and learn how to browse, dammit!) before you spread your uninformed opinions here. N2000 for a psp iso my arse. |
My windows OS (Xp) works 99.99% of the time. Most people complaining about being 'sick and tired' of windows know that they can easily live with the 0.01% uncertainty, but they just like to whine about something. Like i said before, i fail to see the logic behind people complaining about installing an MS security update, yet they eagerly update linux kernels and spend hours tweaking drivers and scripting just to get something to work. There are genuine reasons for switching to Linux, if you want to save money and your system is underpowered. But what galls me is the majority of those naijans bashing Windows have never paid a dime to MS in their lives. Hell, some people can even quote the Xp serial number off head ![]() Show some respect for a decent (and at times stellar) OS that we've all grown to love. PS: You cannot be running a frequently updated version of Norton 2007 and still catch Rontokbro. I still feel you weren't updating your antivirus frquently. either that of you got careless. |
Ralvy:I'm sure M$ will be saying good riddance to you, when you can't even be arsed to install a decent antivirus program. Sure, there are millions of viruses out there, but there are miullions of users who don't even get viruses. I wonder how people who can't be arsed to scan flash drives for viruses before running them will manage with the technical aspects of linux. go figure |
chelski sucks!! There's only one true Champion of England. And that's United!! It's always amusing seeing these chelski geeks struggling to do damage control. When i go visit my guys and they're watching Chelsea TV, 90% of the gist is all about moaning about which players cost them the title, and how they wanna try and wrest it back from united. The other 10%? Irate Chelski fans begging Abramovich to 'buy Tevez before united does'!! ![]() PS: Chelski fans, stop arguing. you know carling cup + FA Cup isn't equal to the Premier League Title. One allows you to bear the moniker 'english champions', the other soon becomes forgotten! Nice try anyway |
MILITIA:I'll go hang myself. but first i'll print this page so they know it was y'all high-yaller hater that done me in ![]() Omo Eko:Asshole? Yikes!! Omo Eko:Just make love with da lights off. No difference!!! |
now you're preaching again, sissy girl ![]() as for gay people, like i always say, to each his own! |
hey!! Easy on the 'yellow' guys! We make good husbands too! |
Y'all have to admit, texazzpete has a nice ring to it. . . |
@seunspice You're supposed to REVIEW a movie, not to riddle your post with spoilers. Transformers has to be THE movie for me. And when the Simpsons' Movie comes out later this year. . .oh man! |
Razorr:Razorr, don't give up that easy. There could be substance to that rumor, but then again, there might not be. You just might be the exception. Besides, you could/should have fun in d audition. . . |
Whether MEND kidnapped the little girl or not is immaterial. the fact is, these MEND guys are nothing but criminals fighting for their own agenda (bunkering). All the guys who post here claiming to be Niger Deltans and saying that the situation on ground warrants armed resistance need to STFU! These guys cry about underdevelopment, so please let them explain how the hundreds of billions collected as revenue by the South South states were used. if you guys cannot account for the money, and show no inclination to find out how it was used why then ask for more? The other day, Jomo Gbomo (MEND leader) was asked about ND politicians. all the idiot could say was that governors should listen to the people. Is that all? What happened to the billions meant for the people that the likes of Odili stole? How can a millitant complain about underdevlopment in Bayelsa state, yet ask for the release of Alams even after the guy was proven to have stolen N50 billion from the state coffers? At least Robin Hood stole from the rich to give to the poor. i wish all these guys (ono et al ) could see the pics of Asari riding around in his Hummer Jeep. Ask yourself why a revered Ijaw leader (Edwin Clark) is a staunch member of the PDP, the so-called anti-south south party? For those asking us to come down to Nija Delta to see the level of unemployment there, let them come first to Port Harcout and see how a once-beautiful town has been turned into a graveyard thanks to the activities of the 'freedom fighters'. Ask if the MEND guys planb to offer employment to the thousands of workers laid off when Michelin and Wilbros pulled out of Nigeria. I'm sure they must thank you for rendering them jobless for your romantic ideals. |
collinz:SITP is a one year intensive training programme designed to give you a broad overview and understanding of the upstream Oil and Gas business. Most of us who attended it strongly feel it's even better than a masters degree in Pet. eng. There's no such thing as SITP 'undergraduates programme'. it's post-graduate. i trust you know the difference? anyway, IF you get accepted in the training program, then you're already a full shell staff, and you'll be earning about 5 times your current salary. There's no more selection after the training. if you get in, you're in. but first, you've got to pass the Aptitude Test and the SRD (what you may call the interview stage. . .) |
Carlos Slim is the product of a hopelessly corrupt and inept government that fosters monopoly. Gates however has given away billions of his wealth to charity. currently he is the main sponsor for the effort to find a cure for the new almost incurable strain of tuberculosis that's making the world scared now. As steve jobs said when he was asked why Bill Gates has been giving away money "Bill doesn't want to be the richest guy in the cemetary" And that, to me, is the best answer for freaks that keep amassing money and don't make time out to enjoy themselves. |
@gbade.x Na dat ur system u wan take run FEAR? E reach make i begin speak pidgin english. You go try tire. even on lowest settings the game go turn to jpeg slideshow ![]() On a different note, i suggest all buyers from otigba test the cds they want to buy before leaving the area. na so i buy a copy of call of duty 2 only to take it home and see it was WWF Raw is War ![]() |
cabali:Yeah well, my HTC TyTN pwns your exec/universal anyday. plus. . .it doesn't look like a brick ![]() |
@ima1 666? from new computer tech? i pity all you paranoid people. seek help! |
Actually, it's not too hard to pronounce Seun as Isi Ewu. i mean, I can't make that mistake, but they sound somewhat similar if you say it in a funny way. . .
sounds like u never liked her. wetin hard for seun
No. Sound like she never liked him. that's an extremely spurious reason to dump a guy. she couldnt have felt much for him anyways |
@oyb Damn straight. if i was in lag, i'd help d poster gratis or at least at minimal cost (not because i need d cash, but he's gotta sweat 4 it a little). One of the best things i like about the warez and hacking scene online is it's mostly free. Hell, i've used tons of emulators and homebrew stuff and they've been 100% free. I'd feel an utter shit if i started charging N500 to install bible software on somebody's phone/psp. |
