@ texazzpete i see decaying infrastructure everyday,i see under development everyday, i see hunger, death, accident through bad road, power outage, misery, cry of the oppressed, etc everyday but how many times do i have to pass through the airport on daily basis. be realistic. personally, i suspect that your father (texazzpete) is either a politician or embezzling public money, which is why you are attacking me personally. if not, why are you being personal and not contributing to the topic. what i am saying is just that "we should be more concerned about the ones that affect us on daily basis"
Don't be silly. I said 'your type', not 'you'. and speaking of being personal, it's totally stupid to make that kind of crack about someone's father. you'd apologize if you had any decency left in you. Don't EVER say anything like that to me again. you've been making arguments somewhat sympathetic to the cause of these 419 guys yet no one has labelled you a 419 guy. To insinuate my (extremely honest) dad is a crook is immature to say the least, and it pisses me off. And that's just for the record. And what you are saying is, we should be concerned with issues that affect YOU on a daily basis, isn't it? just because you've never experienced the fallout of the negative perception of Nigerians before (and aren't likely to anytime soon) doesn't mean others aren't in that situation. No matter how many jobs you create, most yahoo boys are driven by greed. if lack of employment is the reason why many people are doing 419, how do you account for the fact that most of these guys are undergraduates and even secondary school leavers? One would have thought that they'd even wait to finish school before starting this crap, but they don't. so how does that tie into your theory? Also, if these guys are decent guys that just got warped for lack of opportunities, why are they so greedy? The average fresh banker takes home like 1.8million a year. How many 419 guys do you know that are satisfied with this? When they make some money, how many of them pull out to invest their money? The issue of 419 has less to do with scratching out a living and more to do with the craze to drive the latest cars, date the cutest chicks and generally live large. |
Love and mutual respect always works for most guys (at least i hope so!) kinda hard to love someone and not respect him, isn't it? Gamine, I think the Bible passage is coming from the angle that most times the love came from the women and the passage's just trying to exhort men to love their wives. . . The respect thingy was a big issue in Biblical times, cos men were clearly defined as the head of the family, so respect from wife and kids was a must at that time. Hmm. . .was i helpful, or did i ramble on OT as usual? ![]() |
which one should we be more worried about: crime that affects us directly or crime that affects other (european) countries. should we concentrate more on YAHOO boyz stealing European money from (sometimes) greedy people or politicians stealing money meant for the development of our country. which crime is worse
Your type ask this short-sighted question all the time, until they start whining about being unduly searched at airports around the world, or being subjected to increased scrutiny by virtue of being Nigerian. There's a reason for this proverb: ' Don't wash your dirty linen in public'. Unfortunately, that's what these 419 guys (who people like you subconsciously aid and abet) do. For those blaming government and unemployment for 419, i hope y'all harbour similarly generous feelings towards other money making professions like armed robbery, prostitution, ritual murder and assassination. because, y'know, they all gotta survive, right? |
Is it an accepted thing in Nigerian online shopping that all extra costs are passed to the consumer? As long as unrealistic prices continue to be the norm on these sites, i don't see Nigerians going for them en masse. |
I think this poster needs medical help. It's one thing to deliberately set out to be controversial on a public forum, it another when your nature shines through your posts and everyone but you comes to the terrible realization that you're mentally challenged in the real world. Other than that, i really think the topic was pretty crazy in the first place, except, of course, people don't value their privacy. Nairaland users tend more towards ridicule than praise, and putting a photo of your significant other up for public ridicule seems to be the height of insanity. |
Hmm. . . I remember reading something in the Rules a while back PROPER ENGLISH LANGUAGE ONLY Please use standard, proper, and clear English at all times when publicly discussing topics on the Nairaland Forum. Avoid the use of Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, local 'pidgin', or other languages on the forum. If you find it necessary to express yourself using any of these other languages, then you must provide a translation in clear, proper, standard English so that those that don't understand the language you have used would still be able to enjoy the forum. Looks like we got some real fat Sacred Cows over here. . . ![]() |
nossycheek:Not all relationships are about spending lots of dough on a girl. It surprises me that many of d gals that were going 'round singing 'Independent Woman' by Destiny Child seem convinced that the guy has got to drop all his dough on them. There's a strong case for pampering your girlfriend and doing some money intensive stuff with her at times, but not to the extent of relentless ragging. ne4real:Ahh. If i get your drift, you're telling guys to pay for sex. So what exactly is the difference between a gal expecting cash from her boyfriend as payment for sexual gratification and a hooker? Please, do tell. . . |
@realmajid Don't let anyone fool you about the 'power conversion' thingy. the 360's PSU is external, and it does the conversion from AC to DC outside the console. when yopu get ur 360 repaired, try and get the power pack from a UK 360. that'll take 240V AC input and convert it to what the 360 needs. Later, man! |
@Agboola1 I do not know you, nor am i ever likely to know you, but please, i beg of you, do not buy a P990i! there's a reason why most of the reviews have been average, why most people complain about boggy, slow firmware, why 2 ppl i know have seen their phones crash, why you cannot hard-reset the bloody phone unless you boot into the OS itself, why you cannot flash the firmware (to remove the terrible bugs) without being connected to the internet, a reason why most people are pissed off because the firmware starts flashing when it's downloading from the internet at 50%, meaning that if your internet connection goes down during the flashing process, your phone becomes a brick! I'm speaking from experience here. The P990i is a crappy phone, and i know loads of people who have sworn never to buy any Sony Ericcson phone again because of this piece of crapola. |
just to remind y'all Order of importance in English football Champions League Premiership Title FA Cup Carling Cup Charity Shield Only one team will be called 'English Champions' this year and next. And that ain't chelski. |
bebe4u:I can't help feeling that it's such reckless generalization/stereotyping that led the poster to his 'psycho' state. Is it so hard to use the word 'some' so you don't end up accusing ALL men of being terrible? spoilt:Haba! No be all of us o! See now, you've made me speak pidgin english ![]() |
It's clearly stated: There's a limit to the amount of hard currency you can take into a country. Even at the airport in Naija you've got to declare your cash. Someone who's obviously educated deliberatly set out to beat the system for nefarious reasons, and all some Nigerians can do is to defend blindly without even reading the story? Sheesh! |
@Poster you're trying to sell a Celeron M laptop for 95K, and a refurbished one at that?! I strongly advice anyone interested in buying this to stay away. There are loads better deals on NL |
thesilent1:You actually meant 'salvation', not 'slavation', didn't you? thinly veiled. . . |
simmy:Well, perhaps you call that a 'triviality'. but it isn't to me and to most other Christians out there. When your believe implicitly in one God, then you've got to separate the one true Deity from the host of other fakes floating around. and as for the oversight part, he's done it so many times here! |
People, people, calm down and get logical! The truth is, if we take an opinion poll of guys around, you'll see that many of them will greatly resent their wives or girlfriends earning more than they do. In their opinions, not being able to provide for the girl unmans them, and true to type, so many people spout horror stories about rich wives turning their husbands into houseboys. We all have heard these crazy stories before, some people are a lot more susceptible to them than others. Such fears by guys reveal great insecurity and are, IMHO, entirely needless. even though i'm a high income earner, i'd love it if my wife earned more than i do! Afterall, when 2 people marry, isnt everything supposed to belong to both of 'em? I'd prefer my wife was a high income earner too, so we could join forces and do great things for the family. Hell, if i had my wife to rely on, i could easily spend my cash on a 70inch LCD TV without feeling too guilty ![]() Seriously though, such an attitude is bad, but if he can't handle it, it doesn't make him a very bad person. only weak! My best friend was going out with this guy who couldn't handle the fact that she earned 3 times his salary, he was always getting hostile towards her. i had to advise her to break it off because it isnt worth it taking such an attitude to marriage. My advice? This guy's gotta seek counselling, perhaps go to his pastor or someone else, i dunno. Let someone talk sense into him. But then again, it's funny how many girls are heaping abuses on his head. I wager he saw this thread 'Is it Wrong for a lady to want to marry a rich man' https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-10469.0.html and saw how many gals on NL were proclaiming that a poor guy isn't worth considering for marriage. After seeing how a cross-section of gals think about relatively poor guys, how secure d'ya think he'd feel? ![]() @Poster That's a terrible attitude to have. The truth is, the only obstacle to yur happiness is YOU! No matter how many stories you think you've heard, i've heard far more of happy marriages where the wife earned more. As long as there's love and mutual respect, then there's no need to bring money into your relationship. But, for Ikoro's sake, if you can't snap out of this, then don't marry her. Breaking off with her could hurt her, and it grieves me to give this kind of advice, but if you don't change and she continues to earn more, you'll make her miserable for life. |
@Jduck13 I find it hard to accept you're a true Christian since you steadfastly refuse to capitalize the 'G' in God. Christians respect God enough not to write it as 'god'. If you're referring to Baal or Ogun, that's a different thing. . . |
benjibabs:in that case, your wife becomes a liability? Also, once you reach maturity, your parents and siblins translate to liabilities. Brilliant! Money ain't everything. health, they say, is wealth. and you save your body incalculable wear and tear by running a car. funny how many people dont realise that 98% of the wealth generated by these inspirational speakers come from the books they sell to y'all who they've convinced that they need help badly! |
and what exactly does 'solidly pimped' mean?! |
I firmly believe that every girl should be on the look out for SECURITY! any guy that wants to marry a girl should be able to take care of her and her kids. That said, note i said SECURITY and not RICHES. The truth is, when a girl consciously targets riches as a major pre-requisite for marriage, then she becomes something. . . terrible. Truth is, those of y'all saying they'll only marry rich and successful men, i hope you know that your average banker can't be considered RICH for many years. Imagine a guy who's working for UBA and earning 200k monthly. That isn't rich. but it's a good job, and can easily put food on the table for his wife. But that kinda guy won't even register a blip on the radar of these gals that crave rich men. . . SECURITY, not RICHES. That's the key. |
there's gotta be a fine line between business acumen and self-inflicted suffering. There's gotta be room in your life for some good times, if not you'll find yourself working to create wealth for others to enjoy. When people start going on guilt trips for buying items that make them feel good (like car, clothes, jewelry etc) they need to open their eyes and see that the famous proponents of such theories go on vacations almost every year to exotic locations, and generally have a good time. . . so yeah, my car cost me money, and yes, i spend money maintaining it. but i sure as hell would be crazy to start thinking of it as a liability. hell, if your car keeps you out of the sun, then it keeps u in good health. |
@ogogoro I'd like to see if anyone would really plunk 245k for that severly underpowered 1st generation UMPC ![]() |
caustic:Perhaps because most of us lack your ability to read everything within a post just by looking at the topic? |
Gamine:Second that! Even an okada rider can get creative. . . |
ikwin:there's still a lot of time left 2 register, too early to start pushing the panic button! try and enter when most of Nigeria'll be sleeping. try early hours of the morning. . .
Hey people, i'm a batch A corper and service ends feb 2008. I'm of the opinion that since the recruitment is for the batch resuming in novemberfor the training, it would be pointless to apply if we'll be finishing service by feb 2008. Any counter arguments,
did you even bother to read the ad? babyosisi:age limit's probably 30. that'll whittle the numbers |
Gamine:ahh. . . the plot thickens. . ! |
Doesn't have to be superior to a laptop to make it a good buy. . @poster any idea where i can get an imate jasjam from? It's exactly the same as my HTC Tytn, but i wanna get one for someone |
Seun:I suspect you know why ![]() A long shot, but it just might work. At least she thinks so. . . |
Seun:yeah well, he isn't being treated like a customer. this much is clear from his post. he now has two options: 1. Stay in enugu and keep crying or 2. Go Lagos and have it out with this person. Because the truth is, anyone who can afford to pay N17k for a new battery and stay for weeks without using his laptop in the way it should be used should have the resolve to get on a flight to Lagos, get to the office, kick some arse, grab the battery and return back with the prize. That's what i'd do. if you'd rather waste time and then allow yourself get cheated, that's your lookout! |
really don't know why someone's private joke made it to the front page of NL, especially as the moderator of this site constantly puts on an anti-strife toga. It's ok to tease opposing teams and their fans, but teasing anyone about his/her looks is just plain tasteless and kinda silly. As someone pointed out to me recently, we ain't getting paid for this stuff. there's gonna be a limit to the madness eventually. . . |
mukina2:Actually, Arse-anal's now known for ineffective football. Man utd plays a sweet blend of entertaining and effective football, Chelski's pure effective football. I've watched Arse-anal matches seated side by side with arse-anal fans, and i've never seen any group of people so frustrated as their darling team passes the ball over and over in the 6 yards box before kicking it out. Pathetic! I just hope that Arse-anal can muster the competence to pull off at least a draw against chelski today. |
we've lost our best players for most of the season, so don't compare Arsenal's season to Man Utd's, besides, we beat you twice this season - with all your best players fit! so don't go talking crap.
Correction: Your 'youngsters' are actually your best players this season, especially with Henry entering his decline. . . And yes, you did beat us home and away. But if i recall, Westham humbled you guys home and away too. So, that means Westham's superior to Arse-Anal? It's a crying shame Arse-anal fans spend so much time analysing Man Utd matches when their teams the one in dire need of help. |
