Politics / Re: Nigeria’s Airports Most Embarrassing – Mark by thameamead(f): 3:21pm On Dec 09, 2010
AjanleKoko:

I guess compared to the other airports, yes. But the rate of decay in MMA2 is astonishing, particularly being a privately built and run airport. The whole airport is already grimy and in some state of decay, escalators aren't working anymore, and the concessionaries didn't even bother to finish the car park. Kinda disappointing, especially when we all think that privatization cures all ills, huh?

You know, the truth is, the developments in the telco industry have not been solely because of privatization. After all the sector had been deregulated as far back as during the Abacha years, when Multilinks, Intercellular, Cellcom, Starcomms, etc, entered the fray. But the real growth has been due to (1) the right regulatory policies put in place, and (2) competition.

The truth is, some of these key infrastructure delivery vehicles are not managed by experienced professionals. When the government privatizes, they also sell to their cronies and create policies that favour only themselves, rather than putting the right kind of regulatory framework in place, that would attract the right kind of investors.

Case in point the Lekki toll road. Now in litigation, the toll cost is recorded by LCC and is paid by government. Essentially, Fashola is using Lagos state money to pay LCC, a consortium alleged to be owned by Tinubu. Imagine if the concessioning had followed the right processes - starting from the legislative and regulatory framework, as well as a transparent bidding process to produce the best posssible partner for the government. We can't continue to cut off our nose to spite our face. We need the right kind of leadership, period.

Anyone watching Family on Channel 4?
Hilarious grin cheesy

Yoruba woman in action

i was a bit dissppointed with the show, the editing was crap, they should have focused more on the 6oth birhday, they should have filmed lots of Nigerians dancing @ d party and a little bit focus on their thriving restaurant in Hoxton and their takeaway in Dalston, it was a bit boring, 7 more episodes to go, could someone pleaaaaaaaaaaaase set up thread on the show.

Again you are just being daft to the nth degree. Who says people do not have the right to form their own opinions? Off course people do.

Whether right or wrong perception is not the point. The point is Media can influence people's view. (One of the many reason people like Rupert Murdoch was denied a take over of other tv station etc I am guessing this name means nothing to you. undecided)
How hard is it to understand that media can be influential in the manner in which a report about something or someone is printed? Smh.

I don't think the results are rigged, either, but they use it to suit their selfish ends. Last week when Katie had the lowest votes, they didn't let it go to deadlock, but allowed Cheryl to confuse issues. That their cup will soon be full, cheaters tongue angry.

Missing Aiden already sad. Lol, no more eye candy. One Direction and Matt are cute, but they lack the *intensity* of Aiden grin.

Nick Clegg has destroyed his party in the pursuit of power.

Labour dissenters will never vote Lib Dem ever again

Nick Clegg is a disgrace, he's bn used by the tories and will be dumped by the tories in their own time, what planet is Mr Clegg on? power does weird things to people, he's sold his soul for a ministerial salary, a car and a driver car. Sadly Labour won't be in power for another 10yrs unless Mr Cameron falls out with Mr Murdoch ( the owner of The Sun , The News Of The World, The Times, The Sunday Times and Sky News) or the British Public who read the right wing newspapers wake up and smell the coffee, and realise they are bn manipulated and exploited by the Murdoch press.

Be careful what you want. Last time I checked, the people who voted for this govt weren't rich people. The British people voted for this and now we must deal with it. The Americans have also voted for the republicans, expect similar unrest due to cuts in govt spending across the Atlantic soon.

the british public did not vote for any party, it was a hung parlliament but sadly Mr Muppet [s][/s] Mr Clegg decided to go with the Tory Governement which means the end of the Lib-dems because they are going to be wipped out in the election which i suspect will be soon, d daft students need to get a life, smashing a building owned by the Tory government was bang out of order, am for peaceful protests but not smashing or throwing a fire cylinder @ the police officers, i hope those involved in the protest are thrown into jail for a very long time.

there will be more protests to come, yours truly will be joining in. The CONDEMS only care about the rich and the priviledged, sadly the poor and disabled will bear the bunts of the cuts.

These people esp Simon and the producers are all FRAUDS. As for that Katie, all the singers who have gone because of her must hate her by now. If I was her I'd do the honourable thing and just go jeje before the next show. If she's in the bottom two next week and still she stays, I'll know she is a greedy witch grin. Fame-hungry vampire, lol! Gosh, sorry, I'm just so sad Aiden left. So maybe he had the least votes (very hard to believe) but he didn't deserve to go after being there for just the first time. I hope now that Matt, Mary, Rebecca know they aren't safe against the vampire called Katie Weasel!!!

Naah, I doubt it. So long as she keeps that "innocent" face on and always acts the "victim", they will be unable to resist her. And of course, releasing an album every few months also helps to maintain her ongoing image. She's going to be around for a while - at least, until she leaves for the US.

there is nothing innocent about her, she has a heart of stone but she knows how to play the media, she and her PR team are doing her good job.

she loves to MIME! MIME! MIME! MIME! all the time because she can't sing 0000000

she never sings LIVE ! LIVE ! LIVE ! LIVE! because she can't sing 000000

apparently, she won't be a judge on X Factor America because she's not famous enough in the US and the yanks won't understand her geordie accent.

alex is a darling, he even asked his team to give feedbacks about his performance as a team leader, no none in the show has ever asked that, sometimes, he appears over-confident but i like him, there is no back-stabbing in his bones, he tells it as he sees it. he was very funny on the You are Fired on BBC 2.

Sandeech is a game player, she knows how to play the game of not saying much in the boardroom, i love her eyes so does my silly husband cheesy but her colleagues seem to have noticed what she hides all the time, that's y paloma and alex bought her to the board room,

Paloma seems to be enjoying her 15 minuted if fame, 've seen her in lots of magazines, she'quite pretty so fingers crossed for her.

Lol, so much gossip going round about that night. Meanwhile, heard there'll be a double eviction (Wagner and Paige or Katie). I mean, she's been in the bottom for three weeks. It's getting obvious that she's not a favourite. Can't she just live with that and go peacefully? Geez. And trust Cheryl to worm her way back into the public's hearts: she allowed herself to be slapped with a pie at the Pride Of Britain awards two days ago. Everyone was like, aaawwww tongue. Smart girl tongue.

sarah palin [s][/s] cheryl is a media LovePeddler, wanting to be on the front page of the papers everyday but i think the public are getting sick of her.

The whole thing was a set up. The judges rigged it so katie could stay.

maedan:

The rumour is that TreyC got three times more votes than Katie. That means she deserved to stay. But the X-Factor mafia know what they're doing. They never really wanted TreyC, remember she was a wildcard. Now only two of the W.C are left (Wagner and Paige) and they'll be gone soon enough.

it was reported in the tabloid that the show tell the judges who to pick during the advertsing breaks which is not news to me because i ve always known tht, the show is about who gets lots of publicity for the show, the public should stop voting cos it's pointless, this show has to be the most controversial so far with the likes of cher and katie acting like they are celebrities. simon knows the winner already, i hope its' not going to be rebecca, rebecca is the best singer in the competion, she's pretty and reserved.she's a yummy girl, i hope she gets an offer from a record labels. why is simon alwys cossying up to sarah palin [s][/s] cheryl, i do not know what simon and the right wing press see in her.

Poor TreyC, saw her on a show practically sending off "begging" signals ie she said, "I hope some producer out there saw me and decides to sign me on." Bleeh. She comes across as rejected and too anxious for a signing. Sorry but there are 1 million TreyCs out there. Meanwhile, there is no clear winner this year. Matt is the best singer, One Direction are the favourite, Rebeccaa's the most unique, Cher's versatile, and Aiden is, intense, lol. For me, One Direction shd win. It's the turn of the boy bands this year.

I saw her too on ITV, she even sang praises of Cheryl Cole, the same Cheryl Cole who only saw her on Fridays, the same Cheryl Cole who left her and the others to travel to LA a to sign a record label and to house hunt, the same Cheryl Cole who only communicated with her thr third parties, the same Cheryl Cole who refused to give her mobile number. Y the heck is she sulking up to the programme who haug her out to dry, according to the tabliod yesterday, Katiee received the lowest number of votes. she's not going on the X-Factor tour either so she had better go back to her day job.
TV/Movies / Re: The X Factor 2010 (who's Watching) by thameamead(f): 2:24pm On Nov 09, 2010
@Ayometin, i do not hate Simon Cowell but i hate cheap labour of any kind, why can't the contestants be paid a decent wage? why should Cheryl be paid £1.7M, on top of that, she gets £150,00o for clothes and make up assitant, the show is not about the judges, it's about the contestants, I got the information about the contestants bn paid £30 a week in the News Of The World three weeks ago which is shocking but the contestants are desperate for fame so i guess they don't mind but that does not make it right. Don't forget Simon also takes a cut from the voting lines as well as making money from the X Factor magazine.

This year's X factor is crap to the core. I can't believe that witch looking Katie Weasel is still there. angry. If they kick out Paije next week, then racism is the name of the game.

P
aysometin:

I am so angry

I am fed up of seeing Katie

I think Cheryl not voting was cheating.

Has the game got rules?? what does it say on the contract?? How can a judge decide not to vote last minute.

Treyc couldn't have won but at least she deserves a bit of respect.

She was dragged of the show in my opinion.

Louis Walsh is a big lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed
Follow my heart ko, follow my head ni.

Kenny_G:

i'm almost tempted to say a big amen to that but hey its just a show, But its hard to rule out RACISM in this decision, how can Louis walsh and simon praise Treyc for her excellent vocals and then send her home ahead of katie, someone who has been in the bottom 2 for 3 weeks already and then claim katie is the one the public want to see again. Utter tripe,

Simon said TreyC was a better singer but Katie was interesting, What does that tell you about the show, It's not about what the public wants, its about what Simon wants, Simon knows who is going to win the competion, Simon and Sarah Palin Cheryl Cole are masters in manipulating the public, how can cheryl judge if she won't sing live,
