Politics / Re: David Cameron Visits Nigeria by thameamead(f): 11:01am On Jul 23, 2011
D blank:

There is no doubt that there are abundant natural and human resources in Nigeria. The problem has being lack of direction on a National scale as Politicians and leaders amass wealth for themselves. If we Nigerians, decide to tackle corruption, nepotism, and disregard the things that divide us such as ethnic or religious differences and concentrated on reducing poverty, providing infrastructure and allow competence and law abiding people as Leaders. Then we do not need the British as usual to lecture and patronise us with their sweet mouths.

Please Nigerians, be very wary of the British they do not come as partners in trade but think they have a God complex about what is good or not good for us. We cherish his analysis and there is some truth in it. But our destiny should be in our own hands. We do not want divide and rule tactics by the British. Imagine, Cameron offering help to tackle security and oil bunkering when they are the cause of the instability in most countries. Next, he will offer to sell Nigeria govt weapons just as he did in the Middle East in January, so that we can shoot ourselves. Or, advice that we pay their secret agencies loads of millions for intelligence report about potential risk to national security that has been orchestrated by their mercenaries.
Yet, Nigerians are mistreated and turned to illegals. Meanwhile, Cameron did not offer help in tackling corruption, and trace deposited monies in UK banks by corrupt Nigeria officials which is the reason for the underdevelopment and mass migration to his land. Or suggest to pass a law in UK parliament to dissuade banks or individuals in UK to prevent complicity in corruption and money laundering. But he is happy to return Nigeria prisoners back to 9ja? Oyinbo get sense?

Please Nigeria’s, let us critically assess our problem and proffer solution based on our initiative. These so called great countries had their fair share of instability and internal challenges starting from Oliver Cromwell attempt on UK monarchy in UK, the French revolution and the America Civil war. Any artificial solution from the West that is not based on Self determination of the common man in 9JA will be a recipe for disaster. GEJ be wise.
Our Trade and relationship with any countries should be based on partnership, technical and logistical support that creates employment in 9ja and improves infrastructures for not only the elite that goes to the British High Comm for Visa (see Buhari & Tinubu get visa no wahala to give silly speech about opposition and democrazy in 9ja) but the common man in aba.

some heartless Africans also help Corporations like Transfigura to dump waste in places like Ivory Coast, Agbobloshie near Accra is the dumping ground of Africa, most of the E-waste from Europe gets thrown every year. we need to put our house in order, whe need to work together.
Politics / Re: David Cameron Visits Nigeria by thameamead(f): 10:56am On Jul 23, 2011
We cannot continue to blame the West for African's problems, we need to pull our finger out, the West gives millions of pounds of aid money to Africa but the millions is never spent on the poor.

The UK government gave UGAND £70Million to help fight poverty, build schools, hospitals and low cost homes but the tyrant President spent half of the aid money on a £30Million Gulfstream Jet for his own personal use.

The Uk government government gave MALAWI one of the poorest countries £40Million but the corrupt, repressive, oppressive and brutal when challenged goverment blew £4Million on 22 Mercedes-Benz as a cost of £140,000 each, they also had to pay £500,000 to a British dealer to despatch the cars to Malawi.

Africa's corrupt leaders help big Corporations like Heritage Oil, Tullow Oil and Glencore dodge millions in corporate tax in places like Uganda and Zambia.

Heritage oil dodged paying £360Mlillion in capiatal gains tax on a £1.3bn oilfields sale in Uganda. £360Million is a huge amount of money, think what that can do in Uganda, that money will build hospitals and schools, lift people living in abject poverty but Heritage Oil has refused to pay it.

Controversial commodities gaint- GLENCORE has dodged paying £100M in Zambia on its Mopani Copper Mines not only is it dodging paying tax, it underpriced the valued of copper it sold to its sole customer to reduce it's tax bill also inflating pesonal costs.

It really doesn't look like this Ajimobi guy has anything in package for the people of Oyo state. I think this is the same old "Blame-it-on-the former-administration game. They all use the first 1 year to "Investigate" the former administration, run to the press and castigate them. Use the second year to do all their own looting. Use the 3rd year for some fleamsy looting oriented project and the 4th year for no-enough-time campaign/last looting oriented projects. We are tired of this style of governance.

Someone please tell him to start working instead of blaming the former administration. You've not even started anything and you're blaming your failure or someone else already.

Ashimolowo gets £100,000 as the main preacher @ KICC while the ArchBishop of Canterburry earns £68,000.
£9.5M donatations made by KICC congregation in 18 months while £33,000 donations made by the average Church of England congragtion in 18 months.
£4.9M profit was made by KICC, source Guardian, the paper also noted most members of Ashimilowo's congration live in the poorest part of London.
These are the reasons are why Ashimilowo should foot the £200,000bill.

she needs to thread carefully, she's found a lawyer to represent her but the Tory led governments are not sympathetic to people like her, they would see her as scrounger costing the Nhs thousands of pounds while the people that make huge contributions to the conservative party pay no taxes at all, hmmmm.  the british governement can use money from some of the assets seized from some of Nigerian politicians to fund her care. I remember the case of an illegal Ghanian woman with cancer deported back to Ghana when labour was in power. Maybe the likes of Pastor Ashimolowo and other Pentecostal Pastors should come together and donate some of  their over the top salaries towards those little angels.

WOW! you guys
I know you are celebrating since evrything we read tends to favour the prenup.
Now have you asked yourselves why ladies have shied away from this thread? the first one said mmh it wasnt a good idea.
What does tht prove? will an african woman be willing to sign the pre? its not yet sank deep in the African woman's mind. so you guys are in for trouble unless you go for the 'oyibo' .i guess tht means white person. grin

i am an african, am yoruba and I was happy to sign a pre-nup, i could have walked away but i chose go ahead with it as long as i was allowed to make a few changes and am happy with the pre-nup, my husband is lebenese so his family saw me as a gold-digger, the pre-nup was their idea and to shut his family up especially his control- freak mother i sighed it and also to prove i was no gold digger. if had not sighed it, we would have still stayed together co-habiting which would not have bn a problem. am sure there are african women that would happily sigh a pre-nup but most would not depending on the conditions of the pre-nups.

I have a new found respect for Ashley Young. Now every time I see him on TV, I am going to form a fist with my right hand and hit my chest in the heart area 3 times and then point to him as a ritual of respect. If she refuses to sign a pre-nup, tell her to take a hike.

My money should have nothing to do with our relationship. If anyone decide to leave a relationship, you can be upset but no financial payment should be demanded.

Once I set up a pre-nup, the only amends I would make is if her lawyers can prove that the first draft will lead to her losing some resources or money she worked for or could have got, and somehow I have innocuously not figured it into the initial calculations. Not we-want-more-money negotiations. I will not be negotiating how she can get more money than she is entitled to above what I have initially, generously offered.

Asking me for more money will just irritate me and point out her gold-digging and cunning potential, which will make me more weary. A pre-nup is just a state that indicates the minimum she will get, if divorce happens, I might go above board and offer her more if she had been a good wife that is worth it.

Ashley is smart to sign a prenup but I thought he was pretty dump to be marrying at 25. If you are that young, rich and famous and you know women will be flinging themselves at you, why marry so early? That is how they end up cheating and then have themselves all over the paper like Rooney. They all need to learn from Eddie Irvine and Dwight Yorke.
Romance / Re: Are Prenuptial Agreements A Death Knell For Romance? by thameamead(f): 1:15pm On Jun 18, 2011
I have a huge respect for Ashley Young and Peter Crouch both insisting on a pre-nup, goes to show not all footballers think with their balls, Rooney should not have gottten married at a tender age without a pre-nup, he loves slepping with prostitutes, young and old but bless him! he can't divorce her even if he did he has to hand over half his assets, Dwright York is not a role model for my sons but he's smart, the likes of Giggs & John Terry are screewd, no pre-nups, no matter how much they spend on super-injuctions, twitter will have all the juicy stories.

there are pre-nups and there are pre-nups, some are incredibly mean and some are very generous but i 'd rather sigh a pre-nup, than go back to my bedsit in thamesmead, some women tend to make it obvious they are gold diggers, they start dating a guy that can afford to fly them anywhere first class, they get used to it and when they are asked to fly ecomony, wahala starts, they start acting funny. no body wants to marry a pauper, everyone wants a better life, people change, people fall out of love with each other all the time, if tiger woods had not asked his nanny turned wife to sigh a pre-nup, she would have asked for at least a third of his fortune, she was entltled to $2M a yr for every yr she was married to him but he ended up paying her more because he wanted her gagged for life, some women are lucky sha, some are gold diggers and some are like me not greedy smiley smiley

What happens if she refuses to sign the post-nup?

What bargaining chip do you have to make her sign one if you don't sign a pre-nup?

Ashley Young the Aston Villa footballer cancelled his £200,000 wedding last weekend because his childwood sweet -heart refused to sigh a pre-nup, wow, it is shocking, poor girl she probably was not happy with her financial package, a pre-nup is daunting, you both get your lawyers going back and forth to made ammends which takes a couple of weeks to prepare, one of the reasons why some wealthy man refuse to marry long term girls because they can't bare to hand over their fortune to gold diggers, lawyers representing whoever is seeking payment always want half of everything and women like to take the men to the cleaners especially when thay have bn cheated on or bn traded for a younger women, "hell hath no fury like a woman dumped", i remember reading an article in which donald trump ex wife ivana trump was quoted "remember girls, don't get mad, take everything"

marriage is based on trust, if you dont trust your partner then why bother getting married in the first place. pre-nups simply states i dont trust you. angry

The darling of the right wing press, the Sarah Palin of singing oops miming, Ms over-rated, Ms over-promoted, Ms No-Talent, Ms Cherly Cole asked for £4M from the over-rated Cashley Cole after three yrs of marriage, that is what i call gold -digging, £4M for what? no children? by marriging him, she went from Z list to B list and yet wants £4M maybe she wanted it for compensation for cheating on her. anyway pre-nups is not about trust it's about protecting one's asset/wealth. The Prime Minister of France had to sigh one cos his wife is an heiress so did Senator McCain whose wife is reportedly wortth $300M.

pre-nups saves time and money, if you were wealthy you would want to protect ur assets, let's be honest some people are first class gold diggers, take the case of Paul McCartney who is worth £300M, after four yrs of marriage, his wife asked for £100M but was awarded £24M which i think is too much, she should have bn awarded less.

the future queen, Kate Milddleton sighed a pre-nup, despite all the publiciy surrouding their wedding, she is legally gagged from selling her story in the event of a divorce, she does not get full custody of her children in the event if a divorce neither will she get half of prince williams reported £14M fortune.

my in-laws hate me o but i don't care, i pretend they don't exist.

I sighed a pre-nup, my horrible in-laws hate me with a passion but the feeling is mutual, My in-laws see me as an African gold digger and they insisted I sign a pre-nup, my husband was in the middle, he thought it was unromatic but i agreed to it in the end but with a few changes, if I were in his shoes, I would have asked for a pre-nup. Pre-nup is no big deal, it saves time and money in the event of a divorce, I know what financial package am getting if we divorce so no lawyers would be laughing all the way to the bank nor in-laws kicking me out of the house.

Peter Crouch who is reported to be worth £7M asked his girlfriend to sigh a pre-nup,he's no fool.

Best Career Move: Run for the Presidency or Speakership of the NASS. Honestly, all political posts pay very good. Be brave, thats all
Accomplished people in this field: Omisore: High school drop-out, Former deputy Governor of osun-State; Bola Tinubu: BSC/reformed drug baron turn Yoruba leader, Former Governor of Lagos; Evans Enwerem: High School drop-out/former convict,  Former Senate president; Ghalli Na'aba: SSCE (in view), Former Speaker.

It is pointless giving any money to Haiti or any other country because it always ends up in the wallets of so-called consultants of both big and small charities, would you believe the British Goverment gave £30M to Malawi to lift some of their people out of poverty but the money was sqaudered - £1M was spent on 10 Bentleys for ministers which was shipped from the uK to Malawi for about £90,000 while £2M was spent on an over- the top wedding of the President.

The British government had given the Nigerian Government over £50M in aid over the past 10 years, God knows how the money was spent but it was definately not spent on education or health for the poor.

Rupert Murdoch is actually the prime minister while David Cameron is nothing but a muppet. The Murdoch Empire operates like a mafia, they are untouchable, some senior members of the Metropolitan police are the in their pockets, they have spies working for them @ the BBC, Guardian, Independent. look at the way they set up Vince Cable, they knew he was going to block Murdoch's bid for the SKYB takeover so those slappers oops girls from the daily telegraph scretly tapped Vince Cable staying he had "declared war on rupert murdoch" (those girls might work for the telegraph but they secretly work for murdoch) Vince Cable was moved to another department, now that Chris Hume is planing to challenge Nick clegg, they are digging up his past (thats' why the papers are filled with alleged driving offences)
