Fruit4me:At the hospital, didn't they prescribe drugs for your body aches? I advise you rest more and drink water frequently. Lol, I wish I have your huge appetite because I really need to add ooo . Amen to your prayers! We will surely overcome this phase.

Thank you mama...I will be 19weeks tomorrow so I am registering for ANC tomorrow. |
Xtagrace:Pls mama's in the house, one of my team mate is in pain and needs your help. How can she be relieved of this pain? |
Sorry, I've been missing in action. Wasn't feeling too well. I noticed my hands and feet were becoming white even though I've been taking blood tonic from the beginning of this pregnancy. Anyway, I was advised to take this "hospital too far" leaves and got better after taking it. I hope it has no side effects because I try not take too much. I hope we have started registering for ANC, I'd be doing that on Friday. How's our LOs doing? Are you all enjoying this second trimester like I am? My bump is already showing . I doubt if I can hide it after this month.Roll call for our Overcomers ship 11/5/2021 TEAM OCTOBER! TEAM OVERCOMERS!! @joliefille @lady25 @Fruit4me, I hope you're good.

I get you but there's rot everywhere. If only all professionals including doctors can maintain their lanes, there would be no need for all this rivalry. We all need each other and no one should feel superior or indispensable. Even the lowest job like cleaners are important. |
seunH:You're very right. My husband studied anatomy and he complained bitterly. Infact, he left the field for programming. My grand aunt is a retired Vet doctor and just last week she was gisting me that for 15years, FG didn't employ vet doctors until there was bird flu and they only employed 12/15(can't remember) nationwide. She was complaining that the government is not even trying for them in terms of employment and they are always short staffed. Modified: I forgot to add that even medical biochemist and microbiologist have all been side lined by medical doctors. @Zeeknow3245, there's problem in the health sector and it's really sad that there's nothing anyone can do about it. Also, pls, dont blame any allied health professional because you need to walk in their shoes to understand their plight. This country sef no dey try, too much lawlessness. Even Police is doing Lastma work. Make I go sleep. Tomorrow is sunday |
Cetacean419:I studied optometry but I don't want to say I regret it. The course only thrives in Lagos, maybe Abuja, government work and good NGOs. I stay in PH and getting a good paying job is difficult(imagine 60k mon to sat, 8 to 6) except I open my own clinic. In teaching hospitals, we are not respected at all. We dont dispense drugs and diagnose there. It's only glasses even though our scope includes it. The ophthalmologist are constantly fighting us in that aspect. Our optometrist board is not really trying enough in that aspect. Lastly, I really want to go abroad so I checked online. Optometry is regarded as Bsc(4yr course) in UK and europe. Canada, US and Australia are the only sensible countries that regard us as doctors. Definitely, they pay far higher than UK and europe. Now the problem is that the profession is highly regulated in these countries, worse than medicine. You have to get into their bridge program which is not free, over 50k USD for the 18months program. Canada takes less than 20 international optometrist worldwide yearly and US takes about 10 yearly. Most of my colleagues that travelled have left the field. I tried applying for the bridge but it's not possible to apply from Nigeria and going for masters and bridge is too expensive for me(100kUSD because it's 2years for masters and 50kUSD for bridge). So, I am left with Australia which I am processing. I am not discouraging your nephew o but physiotherapist charge hourly for therapy and they are highly sought after. It's better you meet physiotherapist in the field sha to know how things are done locally and internationally. |
Zeeknow3245:As an allied health worker who has worked in teaching hospitals, doctors are the problem we have. If only we can all stay in our place without interfering into people's jobs. Few years back, in one teaching hospital in the east, pathologists sidelined the scientists including the HOD by doing their jobs. It was a big problem. In UBTH Ophthalmologist are doing the work of optometrist. I mean no single optometrist in UBTH, not even an intern (I dont know if they've stopped that practice). It's so bad that if you go to their private clinics, most specialist(doctors) hardly employ health workers in their field because they believe they can do both jobs. Some fields of allied health are not properly recognised in teaching hospitals. They restrict your scope of study. E.g Optometry includes diagnosis and therapeutics just like in the US(you can check that online) but in teaching hospitals, they restrict them from doing all of that. What am I saying? Doctors started this rivalry because they needed the extra income. Now, other health workers have joined the race because of money. The medical doctors have a strong association, they can strike at any time but when last did Johesu go on strike? Imagine paying doctors COVID 19 allowance and not paying other health workers when everyone is at risk of contacting the virus. I'm not saying we should all collect the same amount of money but when they increase doctors salary, they should do the same to others. You just entered the medical profession so you shouldn't judge from what you're told. |

This is me and my husband. He met me and we started dating when I was 19, got married at 26 and he is 7.5years older than I am. Stature wise, I am a size 6(very petite with a waist of 26) while his waist is 34. Forget your neighbors and go for someone who will give you peace of mind. |
Ibk555:Sorry mama, You are still having morning sickness. The Lord is your strength. It's just for a while. DocAdray: eminent91:I have added you mummies. You're welcome once again!

Thank God for the relief. I pray this second trimester brings less symptoms to us all. |
In Lagos state, the process is cumbersome. Starting with the medical fitness test which must be strictly done at LASUTH to other things. |

joliefille:Sorry mama. Keep observing yourself till the end of the week. Anything can happen in a few days. If it continues till next week, I will advice you try not to stress yourself in school and eat what will not increase the nausea feeling. Take care! |

Lemme give you online hug and kisses...If it's akara and pap that your tongue is selecting, pls eat it. I don't see anything wrong in it but I preach moderation. Take it in moderation. I was taking malt (1 bottle) everyday especially when the MS was too much but I had to reduce when I counted the empty bottles in my house. For now, I have reduced it to once in 2/3 days. Lastly, if you have an underlying health condition, it's best you speak with your doctor before taking akara and malt. BTW: No, it's not too early to take pregnant care. Is pregnant care of different types? Someone should pls enlighten me... |
My October mummies, Happy new week! Welcome to the second trimester. We are progressing and doing well. Thank God MS is gradually leaving us. Some mummies bump are already showing, biko, rock it with pride Roll call for the second week in April. TEAM OCTOBER! TEAM OVERCOMERS!! @joliefille @lady25 @Fruit4me @Ibk555 @ThatPetiteChic @jumy16 @Ebysuccess20 @MumDiamond @MumDiamond, let's follow the doctors EDD so you will be added to our group . You're welcome in advance ma. ![]() Modified: Ebysuccess20 you're welcome My appetite is back, infact ehn, I am always hungry but I stopped taking vegetables as it's purging me. I wear peplum tops to cover my tummy. Affliction shall not rise a second time, Amen. |
Ebysuccess20:Welcome mama! I'll do that |
mydreams25:I understand these funny cravings but pls, dont lick cement. It's not good for the body. If you can get NZU (I dont know the english name but it tastes like cement and women with pica take it), you can buy it in the market. Try not to get addicted to the nzu because many ppl I know are addicted to it. ![]() You can also do anemia test because it could be the reason why you are having pica. Once you give birth, it will stop. It's a matter of time, mamas! |
Fruit4me:Hope you went to the hospital? I guess you're keeping yourself busy to reduce boredom. Last week, hubby was complaining of a particular gown I wore. Though it's tight, but my stomach really protrudes in it. I noticed my tummy is slightly bigger because I have a really flat stomach. I don't want my bump to come out now |
October mamas, Happy new month! Happy Easter!! I got all your mentions and I am really happy to know you are in good health. MS is really disturbing us ooo, lol. God will help us. God bless our mothers! I called my mother in love to pray for her, she had 7 children . She tried, biko. Roll call for the first week in April. TEAM OCTOBER! TEAM OVERCOMERS!! @joliefille @lady25 @Fruit4me @Ibk555 @ThatPetiteChic @jumy16 I think my MS is reducing and my appetite is coming back gradually, though the metallic taste is still there. I have a question o. My breast is itching me badly for 2 weeks. I changed bra thinking the bra is small for me, but it still itches. I use shear butter for now and reduced bra wearing time. Am I the only one with this package? How do you manage it? Affliction shall not rise a second time, Amen. |
ThatPetiteChic:Like I predicted, the price of palm oil is decreasing. I bought 1.5L for #800 last night. |

Wow...I'm so sorry to hear about it and totally understand your actions. I wouldn't want you to get too worried about it. If you have been married for up to a year, you can visit the O&G doctor. Hope you don't mind if I mention you on nairaland just to say hello? |

Hello mama, how are you? Just checking on you. I pray for you everyday that God gives you the strength and that your testimony comes sooner than you expect. Amen |
Krystalluv:Hi dear, I pray my post meets you in good health. My heart keeps going to you. I am really worried about you because you come online but dont reply my mentions which is very much unlike you. If you need someone to talk to, I can always be that someone Awaiting your reply ma. |
Nzlove:What of blood tonic/supplements? Can't it boost PCV? |
Adetounvicky:Thank you ma. You just put my mind at rest because I was scared that I have done damage to the baby's lungs. I will still reduce the cold water so that my husband can have peace of mind. Thank you for the eye opener. |
Ibk555:Sorry dear. Eat little frequently and rest more. I eat more of crackers biscuits and it helps. I also get tired easily. Our body is growing a new life so we need to accord it enough rest. I pray this week is better as MS is not easy to bear. |
.
. You're welcome in advance ma.
