bigpicture001:Erm...we do have a Minister of Finance....a Zainab Ahmed. During GEJ's regime, the Minister of Education resigned...and the Minister of State for education (Nyesom Wike, now the Governor of Rivers) ran the Ministry in the interim. |
A legion of presidential candidatesBlame Gani Fawehimni for that. Initially, we had the condition from INEC that a party must have presence in each and every state of the Federation(that is how we initially had 3 parties). Gani went to court...the Supreme Court...and got a ruling that made that condition invalid... Hence the 71 candidates. |
Shawnnn01: Almaiga:If a South Easterner is qualified enough....then why not choose the person? Tribalism has no place here. |
BillGoldberg:Well there are stars who don't sleep around. If I become a star...I won't sleep around. I have seen enough over my life to know that just one encounter with a woman can come and haunt you decades later. I don't want my name on some scandal sheet. Let's not excuse sleeping around. People suffer from it. |
Zuorom:If the uncle did not tell him...he is complicit in a crime. By the way, it isn't just Aaliyah...there is a video of him doing it with a girl who was 14 years old at the time. Guys...please don't justify this. If you sleep around...you pay the price eventually. |
uncleinans:In America there is something called statutory rape. That means an adult who sleeps with a child under 18 or 16 is guilty of such (Wow...see how you are excusing such behavior...whereas if a Nigerian Northern Muslim did the same despicable thing...you people will come and shout that he is evil and wrong. I guess being a star means that one can do what he wants eh? As for me...wrong is wrong). |
Zuorom:The argument goes that one of her relatives was close to him...and should have known enough to tell him her real age. |
BillGoldberg:Yes we know that...that's why some musicians are a bit more circumspect in their private life. Why succumb to every temptation that comes your way? Also these allegations are not new...they have been out there for a LOOOOONG time. And why should we give musicians a pass for not being able to control themselves. Wizkid has three kids from three women. One of these days, those children are going to grow up and express regrets that their father was not there for them.Taking care of a childdoes not consist of meeting their financial needs only. Why sleep around? There are journalists hanging around whose job is to use your scandal to sell news. |
Zuorom:The Aaliyah stuff did happen. He did allegedly marry her. She may have lied about her age....but he did marry an underaged girl....and his lawyer recetly confirmed it....(and defended him by saying rock great Elvis Presley married his wife when she was 16....true...but the law then allowed marriage at such an age if the parents agreed and they did) |
uncleinans:Well, there is a lot of evidence out there....documents, angry families, victims, etc. Personally, I wish it was not true. But you can't beat the evidence. And he did marry a 15 year old girl...who he probably knew was under-aged at the time(said 15 year old was the late Aaliyah...and that allegation has been out there for a long time...and his lawyer recently admitted it was true) |
R Kelly is in trobule. The man has been sleeping with underaged girls for a long time....and even married one (Claiming now that she lied about his age....when he probably knew). They should just send the guy to jail. Sad....that a guy who produced such hits as 'I beleive i can fly', and 'Storm is over' is involved in this kind of mess. |
1. Very sad that the Government wont move quickly to investigate this. 2.This shows that the corruption problem is deeper than we thought. Obviously many staff of the agency are in on the scam....and stopping it would only create more problems. |
Alepa:Have a nice night. |
Alepa:Well, I have a relationship with a lot of people, it doesn't mean I sleep with all.of them. And even guys and girls in that kind of relationship don't necessarily be sleeping with each other. One more thing, respect other peoples beliefs. I can probably write a lot of comedic comments about other religions or atheists or free thinkers or agnostics but I choose not to, especially when the subject is death. Some time ago on another online forum, one atheist Marxist who was dying at 16 of cancer wrote about how he was not scared of death. As a Christian I could have said that his Marxist atheist beliefs did not save him, but no, I expressed admiration for his lack of fear, sorrow at his young age, and moved on. It's good to hold the beliefs you hold. But don't allow them make you a condescending prat. |
Modarun:1.Obasanjo had lower oil prices, and back then, our population and forex needs were lower....much lower. 2.Yaradua oil prices 2007: 72.57 2008:96 2009:61 USD. 3.GEJ oil prices 2010:79.47 2011: 111 2012:111 2013:108 2014:99 4.Buhari 2015: 52 2016: 43 2017: 54 2018: 73 (All in dollars, all yearly averages). Sources of above stats here 5.Anyway....prices are irrelevant (the purpose for my putting up allthose prices was to refute your lie that GEJ and Yaradua met low oil prices...that is not true.... My major porblem with Nigeria's economy is that WE ARE TOO RELIANT ON OIL. And anyway...we need oil at $140 per barrel for a nice and good budget that meets all our needs. I don't care for PDP or APC....I care for a policy that gets us off oil. And if prices were at $150 AND buhari and his gang were saying....we are doing well....I WOULD STILL be critical. So, PDP and APC can go suck millions of lemons for all I care. (P.S....Fashola, Amaechi and co were backed up by both PDP and APC governors in their suit....and the suit was provoked by govt making unauthorized withdrawals from the same ECA. Anyway....proves APC and PDP are the same. )> |
VictorNoni3721x:We know you are lying. You don't work for MTN...and MTN did not send you. Grow up. |
SaiAtikuTill203:1.Some of those problems were there before 2015. 2.Economic issues are due to the fall in oil prices...and yes, if oil prices were high, and Bubu was running a 'good' government as a result...I would still blast him...because the good economy would STILL be oil dependent. 3.Still on oil prices... From 2011 to14...oil prices were above $100. Since 2015...oil has been fluctuating between $30-75. We need it at $140 to get a budget that meets all our needs without borrowing. 4. A good economy for me is an economy that does not have to rely on the price of oil. (That is why GEJ and Bubu and Yaradua and Obasanjo and all of them ran bad economies...because they all relied on the price of oil.). 5.You want to get rid of the corruption APC. Good....but you dont want to gt rid of the corrupt PDP. You want them back in office. (Me, I want all of them out). 6.Fulani crisis....how can we solve the crisis...when one side defends Fulanis when they go killing others, and the other side defends other tribes when they attack Fulanis. 7.So you see....Nigeria wont be better under PDP or APC regime. Until I see a plan where we get off oil, and stop the problem where every Nigerian expects goodies without paying for them...which is our real problem, and why we have all these issues....we are going nowhere. And even if we split this country into many parts..the same issues are there. So, forgive me, but PDP and APC are the same...and they are the same. |
SaiAtikuTill203:Agreed APC has failed....and yes, I won't be voting for them But you want us to vote for a man who until recently was a part of that failure, and who also put the failure in power in the first instance, and a party that has its own share of corrupt people, and is sut as bad.... Please, stop being a turkey that votes for Christmas or New year. Kick APC AND PDP OUT.. |
So a tout has money to fly abroad... Okay.... |
In his judgement, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye said the case of murder against the convict could not be substantiated, but a case of manslaughter and therefore sentenced the 81-year-old retired military man to twenty five years in jail for killing Felix Esan.Sentenced for manslaughter...not for murder. |
Valerie47:Don't sweat it. You shall reap what you sowed. For me, I had the same experience.......I was a medical student. (Our lecturers had to remind us sometimes to go out and relax sometimes! One of them even told us to at least spend one hour watching television!) |
omonnakoda:Thanks for the earler explanation...but this your last comment...is why I think that subsidy removal is the only way to guarantee more investment in refinery construction. Dangote is not going to sell his fuel at subsided rates, especially as all government might pay him is just the difference between the actual cost of production and the subsided price....which would just allow him recover production costs...but not allow him make a profit. It is that bit...the no profit bit...that is the reason why we kept on having fuel scarcity, and why Buhari's temporary fix of paying 'under-recovery ' to the NNPC who now do most of the importing...is not going to work in the long term. In short...subsidy is government making it impossible for marketers and by extension any domestic refiner to make a profit. Because...if Dangote does as you say he would...sell at prices higher than subsidy prices....marketers buying Dangote fuel would be reselling PMS at a loss. And at the end of the day...either subsidy goes...or Dangote becomes an exporter. There is no other way. |
omonnakoda:1.From the BBC report in 2013 The entire venture would cost $9bn, with $3bn in equity from Dangote Industries and $6bn to be raised in loan capital. The initial loan facility was co-ordinated globally by Standard Chartered and in Nigeria by Guaranty Trust Bank, London's Financial Times newspaper reports. 2.Also, there is this from Reuters By Didi Akinyelure LAGOS, July 24 (Reuters) - Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has arranged more than $4.5 billion in debt financing for his Nigerian oil refinery project and aims to start production in early 2020, he told Reuters. Dangote, who built his fortune in cement, is building the world’s largest single oil refinery with capacity of 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) to help to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum. SPONSORED Despite being a crude oil exporter, Nigeria imports the bulk of its petroleum because of a lack of domestic refining capacity. Lenders would commit about $3.15 billion, with the World Bank’s private sector arm providing $150 million, Dangote said, adding that he was investing more than 60 percent from his own cash flow. Dangote Group has said that Standard Chartered Bank was arranging funds for the project. “We will end up spending between $12 billion to $14 billion. The funding is going to come through equity, commercial bank loans, export credit agencies and developmental banks,” Dangote said in an interview in Lagos on Tuesday. “Hopefully, we will finish mechanical (construction) by next year and products will start coming out in the first quarter of 2020.” Nigeria’s central bank would provide guarantees for about 575 billion naira in local currency for 10 years, with African Development Bank providing a $300 million loan. Trade banks from China, India and some European countries are also in the mix, Dangote said. The planned refinery and petrochemical complex is expected to account for half of Dangote’s sprawling assets when it is finished next year. Last week Dangote signed a loan of $650 million with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) for the project. Dangote said he was looking to acquire more oilfields as his focus shift towards the oil sector to feed the refinery Thanks. |
DLifeless1:This is not to defend the government. I would agree that the government has not been agressive enough in diversfying the economy But consider this 1.In 2016, oil cost $30 per barrel. 2.In 2017 it went up to $70 per barrel 3.Now it is below $60 4. We need oil to be at $140 per barrel to run a budget without borrowing. So, save us the crying. The problem is our dependence on oil...something which both PDP and APC have refused to do anything about...and something which they continue to do nothing about. The only realistic solution is simple....we stop spending billions on subsides, we realise we are a poor country, and behave accordingly, we stop defending corruption, (yes, you attack APC corruption rightly, but defend the candidacy of a party that has its own corrupt eggs), and one more thing Stop expecting government to spoon feed you. You are attacking this government correctly, but the problem is, you are attacking them on the basis that they are not putting food into your mouth. That is not development. If oil prices were high, you would be praising Bubu as a great leader....when the same problem is still there. On a serious note, if you have read this far...the issue with Nigeria is that our governments , past and present, have been governments of putting money in people's pockets. Until we stop that habit....and pursue a harsh development plan that would make us an industrialized nation, we are going nowhere....whether PDP or APC win in 2019. |
omonnakoda:Dangote spent 3bn of his money on the project. The rest of the money came in the forms of loans and grants from banks like the African Development Bank which the previous government helped him get Also it cost 9bn |
It is nice, but it won't solve our fuel supply issue. Only subsidies removal which attracts foreign and local investment to build more refineries will do the trick. But no one wants that. Nigeria is somehow too poor for good economic policies |
tendingNews:If I was a rich boy, I will run away from this woman....as fast as I can By her comment she has shown that 1.She is lazy 2.She just wants to be 'comfortable' First, I won't want a lazy woman as my partner because that means lazy children who will grow up to amount to nothing...plus my business won't grow (wives in many instances help their husbands in their projects). We all want to be comfortable...but many a rich guy has suffered a lot to be comfortable...in work. And you want to hand it over to a woman who does not understand how you got there? Same thing goes for men who want a self made woman to see them as a little brother. Woman...go and work. |
troublemakea:Good evening and thank you |
troublemakea:Like I said...be free to be angry with the government. That is the beauty of democracy. But when you say you believe in Boko Haram's words...no, that's insanity. That's bitterness talking...and that's destructive to you. |
troublemakea:Nice to see you have confirmed it. Now, on a serious note....leave your bitterness behind. Democracy is just a game. No one will remember who won the 2015 or 2019 or who Buhari, GEJJ, Atiku, Boko, etc are in the year 2244.....except some ancient historians... (Of course by then,we would have passed the singularity...maybe everyone's brain would have macinery that contains 300million gigabytes of info). Be angry with your government. But don't allow your anger to make you worship a group that is committed to your destruction. That...is what bitterness does to you. Good evening from this old pretender. |
