This one is certainly not groomed in Nigeria. He's after the development of his career.

Trust somebody like Ahmed Musa, Emmanuel Emenike, and Jude Ighalo, they can sign for Asante Kotoko of Ghana or TP Mazambe of Congo all because of the Benjamins.
Here is the thing about football...

You sign your first contract at 18, after which you have exactly 13 years to make as much money as you can before retirement comes....

And let's be frank, by the time a footballer turns 30, unless he is a genetic freak like Ryan Giggs, or very very careful with his diet like Ryan Giggs again....the body will begin to depreciate.(One English player signed a 3 million pound contract with a League 1 club at 31 years. His body did not last the first few months...before serious knee pain force am retire).

That's why most footballers chase after money. After all, once they enter their thirties, they have to think of retiring. (Their mates have at least 30 more years of work ahead of them).

Hmm...not NNPC staff.

They are under MRS...which if subsides were removed...would have been earning a large enough profit to pay all contract staff.

The situation with contract staff in Nigeria by the way has always been bad. Something must be done about it.

Happy new year NL.
I am posting this here because i really need help and i know a lot of people visit this section. Please i need urgent help as i don't want to continue like this in this 2019. Don't come and start insulting me please.

My problem is that i easily get angry and my anger doesn't go away easily. Very little things make me angry. Things that are not supposed to make me angry.
I can live in a room with a person for one year or even more without saying a word to the person just because he/she angered or did something bad to me.

I'm a quiet guy. People say i'm an introvert. I always try my best to avoid trouble. I am in my mid twenties buy have never been in a relationship.

This my problem of easily getting angry and keeping malice has been troubling me. I don't like it but still can't stop it. It is affecting my relationship with my family and close friends. And how can i even go into a relationship with this issue i'm having.
I find it very difficult to completely forgive.
I always envy those who are sociable and who don't easily get angry. I always wish to be like them.

Please i need your help/advice. Please this is not a spiritual problem, so don't start telling me about deliverance.
I would appreciate if this can be moved to the front page.
Thanks.
1.Make an effort to see things from the other person's point of view...

2.Don't put yourself under too much stress. Avoid anything that triggers stress.Exercise regularly

3.Do try to make friends. Get involved in group activities/church/mosquesecular.

4. Don't take too many responsibilities, learn to say NO....set boundaries.

5.Remember, don't cry over split milk. What happens in the past, STAYS in the PAST. The dinosaurs that died 75million years ago are not coming back.

6.When angry, stop, mentally count to ten, and then breathe more easily.

7. When faced with a situation where someone has offended you or let you down, calm down, and ask calmly why....

PHIPEX:
Don't put the blame on Nigerians. Within a year of this govt I paid almost 100% more for fuel than before. Subsidy remains because this govt has gone full cycle with lies. From there is nothing like subsidy to jacking up fuel price to 145 on the lies of removing subsidy. They promised to build new refineries during campaign, now they sit and wait for Dagote to rescue us. They motivated ignorant few to resist subsidy removal I'm 2012, now tell me how wise were they?

They should admit they have no single plan in place to run the economy. They are merely paying salaries and waiting for reactionary moves.
Some back up history

1.In 2012, GEJ raised fuel prices at the pump to 140 per liter. Protests knocked it down to 97.at the time, landing cost of fuel was 99 naira.

2.By 2016,fuel was at 87 naira, landing cost was 132 naira, and because of falling oil prices, govt of Bubu raised prices to 145, ending subsidy at that time.

3.When the landing prices rose to above 160 naira, subsidies returned under the guise of under recovery.

4.Because of the 2012 protests, debts were incurred in paying the marketers subsidy claims. These debts made subsidies unsustainable by 2013 (which is why GEJ plan of 2012 made sense), and the debts rose. It is only just now we are paying them. Off.

5.For govt to remove subsidies, it simply has to stop setting prices and allows marketers set their own price. Because this means politically expensive prices of 250 and above, govt would rather pay subsidy than.risk a revolt.

It's madness to hang the fate of over 200million people on the private plan of a single man, this govt could pass for the most irresponsible govt in the world.
No one is hanging anything, the reason why subsidy is still there is because Nigerians don't want to pay 250 naira for a liter of fuel.

Even Obi knows that

StOla:
Obi should be reminded that if refineries were working, we would not be importing refined petroleum products.

For 16yrs, PDP tried aimlessly yet could not repair a single refinery.

We are paying for 16yrs of unrepentant failure by the PDP.
1.As at now, our refineries at full capacity cannot supply all our needs.. Considering that the last one was built in 1988.

2.NNPC cannot build new refineries because under subsidy it sells fuel at a loss. That is how it has been since the 1980s. And that is also why it is difficult to repair the existing refinery.

3.In fairness to PDP, they tried to remove subsidy in 2006 and 2012. Nigerians said no, investment stayed away, and the downstream problem continued

4.removing subsidies means more investments, more refineries at the price of a short lived rise in fuel prices which would fall once competition and the new refineries kick in.

And Dangote is not going to sell fuel below 145 naira per liter to marketers. Not with the loans he took for the refinery he built

A whole govt wants to keep subsidy until a single man finishes his refineries. That's the most useless idea I have heard in 2019.
In addition to Dangote refinery, there are modular refineries, at least 2 of them under construction.

There could be more if we removed subsidies completely so that private investors can come and invest in more refineries
PoliticsRe: Peter Obi Blasts Buhari’s Subsidy Policy, Says "We Are Paying For Inefficiency" by theoldpretender(m): 4:59pm On Jan 02, 2019
Sirjamo:
The only way to stop subsidies completely is to get our refineries working again or build new ones, or deregulates the downstream sectors 100% and let the masses bear the costs.

Obi and his boss want to remove subsidies and leave Nigerians to pay more for PMS which will lead to more inflation and make life difficult for us.

Buhari and Osinbajo want to keep subsidies for the mean time until private refineries currently under construction come on board, then, we will be able to stop subsidies completely without creating more economic hardship for the people.
The only way we would attract new investors to build more refinery is by removing subsidy in the first place.

But because that does not win votes, no one wants that idea.

Bros if we are to go by your logic then the masses should be made shareholders. It's never been heard of that a business man will force out money from customers to improve their product. A business man should go out there and raise money to improve their products. The implications of increasing bills before any improvement will be nothing but a rip off.

If I have a product that is not so good... Yet I manage to increase the price and people are still paying for it then what will be the motivation to use the additional funds generated to improve the product? Firstly, more than 70% of power users are subjected estimated billing so increasing the price for power under such arrangement is nothing but daylight robbery. Let's be mindful of what we advocate for so we don't unconsciously worsen our situation.
It's allvery well...but at the end of the day, the funding palaver is still there.

Plus.....if you increase the price of a product and you don't improve it...people will stop buying...and you lose.

See the GSM example....we all paid very high price for bad service, bad products (back in the day, you could not call between networks, etc)...but the GSM people took our money, and made things better. I think the same could happen for power supply too....

Or we keep on taking loans to add to our heavy debt burden.

Let me tell you something

Nigerian governments do want light 24/7...

The problem is, the road there involves

1.Raised bills.

2.Strict anti-corruption practices that means ending petty corruption like bribes paid for reconnection.

3.Everyone paying their fair share....which angers Nigerians getting light for free...

4.Taking massive loans....even more than what we are taking now...

And all these don't win votes

(eg...GEJ partially removed subsidy in 2012 from fuel by raising prices from N65 to N140. In the long run...it would have massively benefited our economy. But Nigerians said no, we got the subsidy back, and we wasted millions maintaining a subsidy that was not working).

Guess how much Obasanjo and Atiku's government from 1999_2007 spent for power generation and distribution?

Nothing less than $16BILLION

Let me spell it for you, SIXTEEN BILLION DOLLARS!!!

Where is the power?
I hate defending govt...but in 2001 we were generating less than 2000MW, by 2008, it was up to 4000MW.

Also, $16 BILLION in 8 years seems like a lot of cash....HOWEVER, we need 180000MW to get 24/7 power supply...which is more than what $16 bn can give us.

Am all for investigating and recovering the stolen monies...but $16bn won't get us there.

Problem is where is the government going to get the money for 24/7 light.

1.Lagos needs at least 10000MW alone for 24/7 light.

2.Nigeria generates less than 7000MW alone

3.Estimates to cure the power problem range from N5trillion (1997), to $900billion over 30 years....and our budget cannot fund 24/7 light.

4.So that means we

a) Take a loan

b) Raise bills drastically

c) Cut subsidies

Thing is....you cannot give what you do not have...

GSM that we use for calls, data, etc....is where it is today because Nigerians were not allowed to use the system for free, plus Nigerians paid whatever price the GSM people demanded....even back during the days when you could not call Network A from Network B, and when internet service was a joke., and when people were openly complaining about bad service. But the money we paid enabled the GSM companies to make improvements and upgrades.

Meanwhile...Nigerians and their government are starving the DISCOS and the GENCOS....of money, and we still expect miracles.?

you are still missing the point..abacha loot of 322million dollars would have done alot in the power sector..but instead they are doing trademoni crap
I daresay it could have...but even if they injected the money into power...it won't improve things much.

We need far more than that. And is it only power we would spend it (mind you, I don;t agree with them spending it on tradermoni...something like that is better run by charities, and private organisations or NGO's not government)...we have railways, university education, even health that also need that money....

Like I said earlier...we need trillions of naira...N5 trillion, to fix the whole thing. And that means bills have to go up, we take loans greater than 400million USD to improve stuff...and government agencies, and most people have to pay their bills.....

Power needs money for fixing...and since it has been mostly privatized (which is why Fashola is running three ministries combined...power no longer has much to do now that DISCOS and GENCOS are around)..the money is coming from our pockets...hence the complaint I have about people and govt agencies not paying their bills.

(Even when govt ran the thing, as NEPA, many people too did not pay their bills as well).
