I don't blame MTN, rather I blame Nigerian officials. They benefit from these schemes that's why they pretend like they don't know.

It gets more annoying when you realise a greater percentage of their workforce in Nigeria are all employed on contract basis with no protection from NLC or the FG whatsoever yet they refuse to pay their due tax.

I hope FIRS can get serious with issues like this.

Good. However if you'll be realistic, you have to admit he can't turn us into Dubai within 5 months.

This is a problem that started with your hero. We are only reaping the 'rewards' of a profligate and prodigal regime that was incapable of planning with the oil price windfall they supervised for over 3 years. Infact, thousands of Nigerians lost jobs under your hero even with Oil prices not this low. See samples

The effect of fallen oil price. Buhari took over in the 80s at the era of falling oil price and the same scenario has repeated itself this era. Nigeria wasted 9 years of oil boom on non-strategic projects and was not able to develop other sectors that would have served as alternative foreign exchange earner. We are lucky a prudent man is steering our ship at the moment.
They know this truth but of course will want to stand it on its head.

Things are rough but what were they expecting? After the previous govt wasted the entire period when oil was at an all time record high? Even Okonjo Iweala already warned us

Nigeria’s former Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said her successor will face a “difficult” year because of plunging oil revenues and the economy needs expert management to weather the storm.

“We have a serious situation with a cash crunch,” she said in an interview with Bloomberg in Cape Town, South Africa at the World Economic Forum on Africa........

PoliticsRivers Governorship Tribunal Fixes Judgement For Saturday 24/10/2015 by theV0ice(op): 6:01pm On Oct 23, 2015
The Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja will on Saturday deliver its judgment on the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress and its candidate in the April 11, 2015 election, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, challenging the election of Governor Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The Justice Mohammed Ambrosa-led tribunal on Friday issued notice of the judgment barely 24 hours after parties adopted their final written addresses on Thursday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Wike winner of the election with 1,029,102 votes as against Peterside’s 124,896.

But the petitioners, through their petition filed on May 3, urged the tribunal to nullify the election in the entire 23 local government areas of the state and order fresh one on the account of alleged substantial non-compliance with provisions of the Electoral Act and Manual for Election Officers 2015.

The petitioners, who called 56 witnesses within 10 days allotted to them, alleged that various acts of non-compliance include “non-accreditation/improper accreditation, failure to use card reader, resort to manual accreditation, non-signing of forms EC8A by any party agent and signing of forms EC8A by only PDP agents.”

They are alleged that the poll was marred by unauthenticated alterations in Forms EC8A, issuance of ballot papers in excess of 100 leaves per booklet, one PDP collation agent signing for several wards, presiding officer signing for party agents, voter signing for party agent and absence of collation at ward collation centres and many more.

Counsel for the petitioners, Chief Akin Olujinmi (SAN), argued that the resort to manual accreditation lacked legal justification when INEC had directed that card reader machine should be exclusively used for accreditation.

He argued that there were only 293,072 accredited voters comprising those whose Permanent Voter Cards were read, but whose fingerprints could not be verified by the card reader, Wike and other respondents failed to justify the total accreditation of total 1,228,614 votes.

But the respondents – INEC, Wike and PDP – who jointly called 40 witnesses, urged the tribunal to dismiss the petition on the grounds that it was constituted by unfounded allegations which the petitioners failed to establish.

Wike’s lawyer, Mr. Emmanuel Ukala (SAN), argued that Peterside was not qualified to contest the April 11 election because he was sponsored by the APC in contravention of Section 85 (1) of the Electoral Act.

Ukala argued that the petitioners failed to call witnesses who conducted the election, a development which he said was fatal to their case.

PDP’s lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), maintained that the petition was incompetent and the tribunal lacked jurisdiction to amend the petition which he said was replete with some bogus and unproved prayers reliefs.

INEC’s lawyer, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), argued that the petitioners failed to prove the alleged irregularities and electoral irregularities polling unit by polling unit, which is the standard of proof set by the Supreme Court.

our mind has being programmed to believe that our problem as a nation is outright corruption.but bro,do u think buhari is in any way less corrupt than gej?
Yes my friend i believe so. A man who has held office as minister of petroleum, chairman of NNPC, Governor of the entire north east, Head of state, Chairman of PTF, GOC of 3 divisions of the NA yet no individual has been able to trace a single oil well to him is surely above board relative to his peers. Also, you should know corruption is the least of the problems we have with GEJ. His major problem is his profound helplessness in curbing the extreme appetite of his subordinates.

No man is a saint but when i see a man operating above the extreme materialistic and ''primitive acquisition'' mindset of the average privileged Nigerian and also able to hold others to account, i applaud and PMB is in that category.

You're right to say that corruption is not the only problem we grapple with but will it be a crime if we try to tackle it no matter how small the success recorded is?

It seems something is serious wrong with PMB because I wonder why only South/East has no INEC commissioner Because we 6 geo-political zone in the country....He gave the names of the national commissioner-nominees as: Mrs Amina Zakari from Jigawa representing North-West; Dr Antonia Okoosi-Simbile from Kogi, North-Central; and Alhaji Baba Arfo, Borno, representing North-East.

Others are Dr Mohammed Lekki from Edo, representing South-South and Prince Soyebi Adedeji Solomon, Ogun, representing South West.
SE already has a commissioner representing them. if you check well, only 5 new commissioners were announced while we have 6 geo political zones

EDIT:It pays to check before rolling out war drums. The commissioner representing the SE is Ambassador Lawrence Nwuruku

The Independent Electoral National Commission on Wednesday experienced an overhaul of its leadership as Professor Mahmood Yakubu (Bauchi) was appointed as its chairman.

The following were also appointed as INEC commissioners:

•Mrs Amina Zakari (Jigawa)–North-West

•Dr Antonla Taiye Okoosi (Kogi)–North-central

•Alhaji Baba Shettima Arfo (Borno)–North-east

•Dr Mohammed Mustafa (Edo)–South-south

•Mr Soyebi Adedeji Solomon (Ogun)—South-west

Meanwhile, the Council of State resolved that Ambassador Lawrence Nwuruku who is currently representing the South-east should remain.

what was the total no of valid votes cast in the 13lga where the tribunal determined that elections took place?

How many for PDP and how many for APC?

That's what folks should determine instead of these premature celebrations from both camps

Yes, but I think I understand what he was referring to.

The Radio Nigeria presenters kept asking him what the point of the expressway is? Where does it lead to? So he explained that he had already spoken to the Benue State Governor and Benue State already has plans to construct an expressway to the Nassarawa border.

So they asked where that expressway would lead to and he mentioned the Central African Highway to either Morocco or Algeria. I've heard of this highway before. It's part of the Trans-Africa Highway System that was planned by the OAU/AU.

See the number 2 highway in the map in this Wikipedia article. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-African_Highway_network

okay, there is in the real sense two projects
a,the Deep sea port
b,the road

the deep sea port is to be built with PPP finance(this u know will not pull through.it will be frustrated at the NPA ) e.g the aba deep sea port, bonny sea port projects all died.

it leaves us with the road.the road goes through ikom-ogoja-obudu and terminates at Katsina ala in Benue state.
automatically we have Benue state, and Cross River state without a f.g involvement in that road(haba)

the road investors will now have have to recoup their investment basically through either tolls or the govt parties will foot the bill of construction
260km of calabar terrain is not beans!
@the bold, i know a lot of things have happened before to feed your pessimism but pls lets hope for the sake of all of us that this will be different wink

This is what Ben Ayade said ''In his remarks, Ayade said apart from the road project, the state would also be constructing a deep sea port in Bakassi. According to him, the two projects will be executed through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP)''

Except he lied through his teeth, i want to believe the road and the sea port are both PPP projects. It seems likely that tolls will be incorporated (i see no other way for the private investors to recoup their money) but my brother, at this stage and with the world economy the way it is, i don't mind some small sacrifices.

You raised an important observation of the road passing through cross river and Benue state so i wonder why Benue state isn't represented here. Maybe some additional clarifications will come in the days ahead

Well, the honest truth is that with the state of our finances, no state govt can successfully execute such gigantic projects.

Whether they like it or not, they must engage private investors and these investors won't allow their money and efforts to go to waste. that much i hope anyway.

I chose to believe they'll see these projects through. They're very important to the economy of the SS and SE
