I go back to this my post. There are dozens of countries that have and run nuclear plants. its the future of energy. there is acquisition and transfer of knowledge every now and then and everywhere. why do many think Nigeria is not ripe for a technology that has been around for more than half a century?/Nigeria already produces drones, they have launched a couple of satellites into space. we have great and talented engineers everywhere. countries that are serious about producing enough and clean electric power for their populace are building nuclear plants. furthermore, it provide employment and speed up development in whatever location it is set up. nuclear accidents in the scale of Fukushima and Chernobyl are rarities. however, many at times, the higher the positive impact any technology has, the higher the negative impact it has too if things go wrong. consider the positive impact aeroplane brought and consider the impact air disasters too can cause, and mind you, airplane accidents are very rare compare to many other mode of transportation. to end my argument, I most point out that many people just subscribe their phone and log unto social sites to test and develop the swear and abuse skills. olodo people. this is one sad negative impact of the telephone and internet which are otherwise like nuclear technology and airplane beautiful developments. |

Crime › Kidnapped Dapchi School Girls Freed by thinkmoney(op): 10:54am On Mar 21, 2018 |
. Many of the Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by militants from the town of Dapchi have returned, according to residents who spoke to the BBC. People said that many of the 110 schoolgirls were brought back in a vehicle convoy this morning. The circumstances of their return is still not quite clear, but there are indications five of the girls may have died. They were taken from the school more than a month ago. Parent Kundili Bukar told the BBC the militants - believed to be Boko Haram - drove into the town in a motorcade and surrendered the girls to the community. The militants are said to have left immediately. He said the girls were looking haggard and tired - although some reportedly found the strength to run home to their families after being released. |

I'm sure the disease you are talking of is not more than HIV. These countries have shown with their natural stories that legalising homosexuality does not increase any disease, does not degrade economy or creates natural disasters, does not destroy heterosexual marriages, does not increase the normal amount of homosexuals and surely does not make God hate a country. my dear, now you really have to research it. take your time really and browse this topic- is HIV more prevalent in gay community than in straight couples/ do gays have higher tendencies of contacting sexual diseases than heterosexuals. then I am expecting you come back here with an honest observation. second, are we certain of how this diseases came about in the first place. lastly, the fact God is still holding back now, doesn't mean he isn't angry. and his blessing is now not measured in how rich and prosperous a nation his. moreover, he won't judge us on a national basis, but he will judge every individuals for there actions. because seriously, this unfortunate practice is universal and transcend borders. |

A kleptomaniac steals what does not belong to him and hurts others but a consensual relationship between two consenting adults of the same sex hurts no one, and does not affect society in any way. my brother, this life has really gotten many problems. one of it is the prevalence of wrong and sometimes dangerous advice. this can be blamed on the social media, where everybody seems to have gotten a voice now. it is so serious that sound advice which is rare get rarer when its get drown out by this plethora other advice you get online. so my brother, this is my informed advice. the world is in constant degeneration and degradation, right from the time our first parents lost it. There are many anomalies, genetical, environmental and so on. however, it must be noted that God isn't responsible for this, rather, he should be credited for his program on bringing us back to that perfect state we lost. in the meantime we have to live with these many woes. everybody as their problems -although the degree to how it affects them varies - this too is a result of the state of the world today. its true there are people that are genetically predispose to homosexuality, but its also true that there are people that are genetically predispose to many other abnormalities, like kleptomania. but should a kleptomaniac say because he is wired that way just give in to the urge to be pilfering? no the kleptomaniac, the homosexual and other people suffering from other anomalies should keep fighting the urge! open up to people that you trust my brother. don't be depressed. the only person really that you have to please is God, and he is the only person that really understands and know your weaknesses. so if you sometimes seem to fail in your struggle against this ill, don't resign yourself, pick yourself up and continue fighting. one good advice again is that like somebody fighting addiction, you should shun places and people that might make engaging in 'the act' easy. live is constant fight my brother. embrace the lot life as dished you and deal with it. if at the end, God must judge you, I am certain he will consider your weaknesses and the prevailing conditions. that is why he is a better judge than any one. how often do you hear earthly judges referred to as A loving Judge? that is what Jehovah God is. |

Politics › Re: Lai Mohammed Replies Obasanjo's Letter To Buhari (Full Statement) by thinkmoney(m): 8:30am On Jan 25, 2018 |
itsdumebi: @POLITICSNGR
Minister of Information and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress,APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has responded to Ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo's letter to Buhari.
In a statement obtained by PoliticsNGR, Lai Mohammed listed Buhari's achievements and gave reasons for the government's problems. The statement read;
"We have read the press statement by former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the State of the Nation.
For the record, Chief Obasanjo is a patriot, and he has proven this time and time again. We appreciate what he said concerning the Administration's performance in two out of the three key issues that formed the plank of its campaign: Fighting corruption and tackling insurgency. Specifically, the former President said President Buhari must be given credit for his achievement so far in these two areas. We thank him for this.
Apparently, the former President believes that the Administration does not deserve a pass mark in the area of the economy, which is the third of our three-pronged campaign promises.
We have no doubt that in the face of massive challenges in this area, this Administration has availed itself creditably. We believe that Chief Obasanjo, because of his very busy schedule, may not have been fully availed of developments in the government's efforts to revamp the economy, which was battered by the consequences of over-dependence on a commodity as well as unprecedented pillaging of the treasury.
Today, most of the indices by which an economy is measured are looking up. Permit me to say, however, that Nigeria would not have exited recession through a mere order or if the Administration had not made use of ''good Nigerians'' who could help.
This Administration is making steady progress in its determined effort to revamp the economy, and the results are showing:
* Foreign Reserves have peaked at $40b, the highest level in about four years, and up from $24 billion just a year ago, even though when we came in, the price of oil had crashed woefully.
* According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBC), headline inflation has fallen for 11 consecutive months, standing at 15.37% as at Dec. 2017. This is the lowest inflation rate since Jan 2017, and it has met and surpassed the target set for inflation in the Administration's Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).
* Our determined implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) has stopped the hemorrhaging of the treasury. Some 108 billion Naira has been saved from removal of maintenance fees payable to banks, pre-TSA. The nation is being saved 24.7 billion Naira monthly with the full implementation of the TSA.
* The elimination of ghost workers has saved the nation 120 billion Naira
* At about 1.8 billion dollars, the capital inflows in the second quarter of 2017 were almost double the $908 million in the first quarter.
* In the wake of a stable Naira and increased investment inflows, Nigeria’s stock market emerged one of the best-performing in the world, delivering returns in excess of 40 percent.
* Nigeria rose 24 places on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business ranking, and earned a place on the List of Top 10 Reformers in the world.
* According to Q3 2017 figures, agriculture export is up year-on-year by 25%, solid minerals exports are up year-on-year by 78%, raw materials exports are up 70% year-on-year and manufactured goods exports are up 22% year-on-year.
* Government agencies such as the Nigeria Customs Service are reporting highest-ever revenue collection, while JAMB, under the new management appointed by President Buhari in 2016, remitted N7.8 billion to the coffers of the federal government.
The total amount remitted by JAMB between 2010 and 2016 was a paltry N51 million! These positive indices may not have immediately impacted positively on Nigerians, but Nigerians will definitely get a new lease of life a short while from now. This is because the good news from the agricultural sector, which is recording a bumper harvest, will bring down the cost of foodstuffs, especially such staple as rice, and our massive Social Investment Programme will ease the pain of the most vulnerable in the society.
When we assumed office in 2015, some 6 million farmers were involved in rice production. Thanks to the Anchor Borrowers' programme of this Administration, we have grown that number to over 12 million farmers. The result is that our rice import from Thailand alone has dropped from 644 metric tonnes to 22,000 MT in just two years. This is phenomenal.
Apart from rice, Nigeria is also doing well in other grains, especially Millet, Sorghum and Maize. We are now the second largest producer of sorghum after the US, the third in millet after India and our breweries are now enjoying local sourcing of those commodities.
For maize, we are producing 10 million tons while we need about 13 million tons for both human and animal nutrition. Nigeria leads the world in the yam and cassava production. We account for 70% of the world's yam production. In two years, we hope to be the world's largest exporter of yam! Overall, our ambition is that agriculture should rise from 25% to 40% of GDP, so that we can banish poverty and overcome our economic anxiety.
Our Social Investment Programme is Nigeria’s most ambitious social welfare programme ever. Currently, 5.2 million primary school children in 28,249 schools in 19 states are being fed daily; 200,000 unemployed graduates have enlisted into the N-power Job Scheme, and a quarter of a million loans already distributed to artisans, traders, and farmers.
Finally, our investment in infrastructure is simply unprecedented. This is because infrastructure is key to faster economic growth and development.
Here is a synopsis of what we have done in this area: * Power Generation at an all-time high of 7,000mw and all can be transmitted
* RAIL: Lagos-Kano Standard Gauge is on. Lagos-Ibadan sector ready 2019, Kano-Kaduna ready 2019; The entire stretch ready 2021; Negotiations on for Coastal Rail covering 15 cities from Lagos to Calabar.
* ROAD: 25 major highways being funded with the N100b Sukuk Bond, and all geo-political zones are benefitting equally
This Administration is not unaware of the enormity of the challenges facing the nation, but we are up to the task. We have taken the bull by the horns, and long-suffering Nigerians will begin to experience a new lease of life as our efforts yield fruits. We will not go into a state of funk for whatever reason.
On the Herders/Farmers' clashes, this Administration is determined to end the crisis resulting from this once and for all, not minding the fact that the clashes predate us. we urge Nigerians to have faith in the Administration's ability to resolve the crisis, and to watch out for concrete measures in this regard.
On whether or not President Muhammadu Buhari should run for another term, it is true that many Nigerians have been calling on the President to run again, while others are opposed to his return. However, we believe this issue is a distraction for the President at this time. This is because Mr. President spends every waking hour tackling the enormous challenges facing the nation, most of which were bequeathed to his Administration by successive past Administrations. He is committed to fulfilling the mandate given to him by Nigerians in 2015. And that's where we are right now!
Finally, we have no reason to believe that former President Obasanjo has any motive beyond the well-being of the nation in issuing his Special Press Statement. We have also taken his admonition in good faith, and we thank him most sincerely for taking time off his busy schedule to pen such a long statement.
https://politicsngr.com/just-in-lai-mohammed-replies-obasanjo-over-letter-to-buhari/ OK, me I won't write stories. I will just give you three straight point to tackle the so called "three pronged campaign promise." 1) Economy: I as an individual and in my immediate environment, I don't feel or see any improvement. 2)corruption: police, the military and all other paramilitary agencies are still brazenly extorting people and collecting bribe on our highways. this is the benchmark of corruption. 3) Book haram insurgency: statics from a very reputable source (I can show it here if you ask me) has compared the attacks in 2016 with that of 2017. it showed that rather than the attacks reducing it as intact increased. and more people were victims of book haram in 2017 than in 2016 |

Nigeria's Boko Haram attacks in numbers - as lethal as ever Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has repeatedly said that the Boko Haram jihadist group has been defeated but BBC analysis of its attacks shows little change. Research by BBC Monitoring shows the group killed more than 900 people in 2017, marginally more than it did in 2016. It consistently mounted attacks during the year, defying Mr Buhari's assertion that the militants had been routed. We have crunched the numbers to show in a series of graphs, the type of attacks Boko Haram stages, which areas they target and which month is most deadly. *Attacks increase, locations remain the same Boko Haram reportedly mounted a total of 150 attacks in 2017, an increase on the 127 attacks it is said to have mounted the previous year. In both years the group launched its highest number of attacks in January, with both these spikes followed by President Buhari's claims that Boko Haram had met its demise. *The group's attack locations have broadly remained the same over the last two years. Nigeria suffered the majority of attacks in both 2016 and 2017, with Borno State - the birthplace of the insurgency - being the most common target. Boko Haram proved it could still strike further afield in 2017, with reported attacks in Cameroon's Far North region, Niger's Diffa region and Chad's Lac region, all of which border north-eastern Nigeria. This broadly mirrors where it chose to attack in 2016, but there are slight differences between the two years, with Nigeria experiencing more attacks in 2017 while Niger saw fewer. *Methods of attack Boko Haram reportedly launched 90 armed assaults and 59 suicide attacks in 2017. Nigeria bore the brunt of these attacks, with the most common method being armed assault. Across the border in Cameroon the group appeared to follow a different strategy, mounting more suicide attacks than armed assaults. The same methods in these two countries were also seen in 2016. The data show a growing overall emphasis on suicide attacks. In Nigeria, the group increased its suicide attacks from 19 in 2016 to 38 in 2017, with Cameroon experiencing a similar increase. Suicide attacks were the most common method of attack in the Nigerian city of Maiduguri, which continues to be the epicentre of the insurgency, whereas armed assaults were more common elsewhere. Fatalities increase, targets remain the same At least 967 people were reportedly killed by Boko Haram attacks in 2017, an increase on the previous year when 910 deaths were reported. The highest concentration of fatalities in 2017 was in Maiduguri, which has seen its population double to two million in recent years as people flee Boko Haram violence in rural areas. Elsewhere in Nigeria, there were also high concentrations of fatalities in the localities of Magumeri, Konduga, Damaturu and Mubi. There have been no big changes in the group's targeting in the last two years, with Boko Haram attacking hard and soft targets. Its most common targets in 2016 and 2017 were villages and militaries. Boko Haram also continues to target mosques and internally displaced people (IDPs) fleeing the violence. Relationship with IS The relationship between IS and Boko Haram is unclear. Only 13 of 151 reported Boko Haram attacks in 2017 were claimed by IS, suggesting operational links between the two groups are weak. This may be due to the military pressure placed on IS in Iraq and Syria, where the group lost its so-called caliphate in late 2017. The disparate nature of Boko Haram may also make it difficult for IS to issue claims as it cannot verify which faction is behind an attack. Why is Boko Haram so resilient? For years, critics have accused the Nigerian military of not properly equipping its soldiers to deal with Boko Haram. This may change in 2018, with the US agreeing to sell weapons to Nigeria. Until then, the group looks set to remain a significant threat, says BBC Africa Security Correspondent Tomi Oladipo. "Despite repeated claims by the Nigerian government about Boko Haram's demise, the group's different factions continue to threaten the stability of Nigeria's north-east and the wider Lake Chad Basin area," he said. According to Oladipo, Boko Haram has relied on stealth to keep its insurgency alive in the face of government offensives. "Over the years, the ability of the jihadists to blend into local communities, or to conceal themselves in the vast terrains of the region, has aided their campaign of violence," he said. |

sholly2017: Thanks for the question. You didn't chose to attack or insult me like others for exposing the truth. Firstly who is Anti Christ according to the Bible. 1 John 4 vs 2-3."By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ HAS COME IN THE FLESH is from God, 3 and every spirit a that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. " So If u say God or Christ will not come in flesh, who are u sounding like. Just like we have some anti type today. Secondly, let read Revelation 12:5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. Beyond any contradiction as a Christian we have only one Iron Rod Ruler who is Christ. So According to the verse above He Christ will be born through the womb of a woman not crash landing from the sky as many Christian do believe. Further more let take a look at Matthew 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. This was a prophecy by Jesus on His second coming. The word" the sign of man appeared was used before Christ birth when the three wise men saw the sign(star) of Christ appeared in the sky when He was born. This indicate that Christ in His first advent came in the clouds of heaven as A shinning Star with power and great glory. This same word Christ has repeated again in his prophecy in Matthew 24 vs 30 but the Anti Christ and false prophets that is ruling the world and churches are making the world await him and gazing at the sky. Read Daniel 7 vs 13- 28. Daniel dreamt was will also happen in last days. He saw the Ancient of Days handing over the Kingdom to one like the Son of Man. A kingdom to consume all others. Who is the Ancient of Days? The best answer for me is , The Father while the Son of Man Daniel saw was Christ Second coming in the last days. Daniel saw what will happen on earth. The Ancient of Days and Son of Man ruling the Kingdom. Read through Revelation from 4 someone like Jasper was worship calling Him Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty and even to the Lamb. The two distinct Being that was dwelling with man and being worshipped Revelation called them "God and Lamb" meaning the Father and Son but the world followed the false prophets and Beast perhaps they felt God can't come in flesh and there were carried away by the signs and wonders. Read more on Revelation from 1 to end. I can go on and on with biblical reference but will stop here. It not really about what I say because only few will find the narrow path and chose to go therein, the rest will chose the wide part. Peace of the Father, my Brother I appreciate ur effort at trying to explain. however, if the bible has prophesied that Christ will come back in whatever way and in whatever form, you have failed to show me where it says Christ and God will come back as two distinct persons, which you claim has happened in our time in the form of Olumba Senior and Junior |

sholly2017: THE SECOND ADVENT OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST: HOW, WHERE AND WHEN? Text: Luke17:20—37. THE ANTICHRIST
The antichrist means one who works against Christ and His teachings. It was the antichrist who decieved the people against Our Lord Jesus Christ in His first Advent. So many people think that the antichrist will emerge from no where. This is erroneous, cos the antichrists had always risen from among God's children. The antichrists had always risen from the Church or synagogue (1John 2:18—19). In fact, the antichrist had been and will always be the church. The antichrists are liars who deny both The Father and The Son (1John 2:22).
The denial of The Father and Son by the antichrists can only happen when THE CHRIST assumes a Human Capsule or Nature. This way, The Spirit will be clothed in The Flesh, and Satan will raise so many antichrists to fight Him.
The antichrist is a negative spirit that will possess Clergies and make them believe that Our Lord Jesus Christ has not come in flesh and blood (1John 4:3). This is why The Bible says we should test all spirits so we will know which is of God and which is of the antichrist (1John 4:1—2).
But the antichrist tell their followers not to test all Spirits, cos they know that if they do, their followers will know the Truth and follow the Truth. They tell their followers not to listen to OLUMBA OLUMBA OBU or any of HIS followers.
WHO WERE THE ANTICHRISTS DURING THE FIRST ADVENT OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST
The Spirit of antichrist has always been satan the dragon, while the chief antichrists vessels where Annas and Caiaphas who were the chief priests (Luke 3:2). Other antichrists included the other priests like Alexander, one John, all other priests and many more who where workers in the Synagogue or house of God (Acts 4:6).
I want you to note that, even the prostitutes and robbers are far better in The Sight of God than the antichrists (Matt 21:31—32, luke 23:39—43). The antichrists always rises from among The body of Christ. The antichrist is the church or synagogue. WHO ARE THE ANTICHRISTS OF THIS GENERATION Certainly, the antichrists are so many in this last generation. They are the false prophets (2Peter 2:1—3). They have large churches and a huge followership. Just like Caiaphas, Annas, Alexander, etc fought against Christ in His first advent, so are these antichrists of this generation fighting The Returned Christ, HIS HOLINESS OLUMBA OLUMBA OBU.
Just as the antichrists of old believed in the prophets of old (John 8:53—59, John 9:20—29), but never believed in Our Lord Jesus Christ, so do the antichrists of today believe in The old Name "JESUS", but have refused to believe in His New Name: OLUMBA OLUMBA OBU (John 14:17—18). Remember, He revealed to John that He will come back with A NEW NAME (Rev 2:17, 3:12). He also told John that His Name will mean THE WORD OF GOD. We had showed in our Episode 14 that, OLUMBA OLUMBA OBU means THE WORD OF GOD (Rev 19:13). Remember, in His Last Advent, He came as Emmanuel, meaning GOD IS WITH US, which puzzle the whole world failed to get right (Isaiah 7:14). The world always speak good of the antichrists and false prophets, but speak evil of The Prophets of God and even The Son of God and invariably, God Himself (Luke 6:26).
*The false prophet or antichrist will have a form of godliness, but will deny and reject The Power of God (2 Tim 3:5— . *The antichrists or false prophets will be offering materialism to people. They will make people to believe that, if you are a servant of God, you must be rich in worldly things. This was why Christ admonished us against it earlier in Luke 18:24—25 and Mark 10:23—25. Remember, the devil offered Christ the material things of this world, but Christ rejected them. Sadly enough, satan has raised so many antichrists/false prophets who offer these things to people as a bate and the people of this world are busy swimming in their deceit (Matt 4:8—10). No wonder they call their churches names like "home of success, mountain of fire, home of back to sender, home of prosperity, house of long life, home of signs and wonders, etc. *The antichrists or false prophets will arrogate to themselves tittles meant for God. You see them today bearing names or titles like: Papa, General Overseer, etc (Matt 23:5—10). *They give you stickers, bracelets, necklaces, etc for protection, but they themselves have heavily chested men and police security for themselves. Have you ever asked yourselves this question? Did Our Lord Jesus Christ wear all these things? Did His disciples wear them? The Power of God does not need rings, bracelets, bangles, perfumes, necklaces and all the likes as a medium of performance. Please, be not deceived anymore. *The antichrists are apostles of the dragon. This is why you see them calling Holy Ghost fire every minute. You see them praying with very high degree of aggression, and noise (Rev 13:4—14), even commanding The Holy Spirit to move. All these are attributes of the dragon. The Churches we see today and people flock into them, are all churches of the antichrist. Have you ever seen a LAMB produce fire? Not at all. *The antichrists\false prophets lie against The Returned Christ and also fight against Him. But has anyone ever fought God and worn? Can anyone fight God and win? Of course never. *The antichrists\false prophets beat drums in their churches. But Christ didnt beat drums. He and His disciples only sang hymns and spiritual choruses (Matt 26:30, Ephes 5:19, Colo 3:16). *The antichrists\false prophets wear shoes into their churches. But Our Lord Jesus Christ never did. He and His disciples didnt wear shoes when going on ministry (Luke 10:3—4). *The antichrists/false prophets talk to God as if He is there mate or subordinate. They can't even shout at their biological Parents like the way they talk and shout at God when praying. Another word for prayer is "request". But the true worshippers of God talk to Him with fear and trembling and with absolute humility and reverence, just like the publican did.
Beloved, a stroke of the cane is sufficient unto the wise. This gospel is for those who have ears to hear. See you in the next Episode where we shall treat THE BEAST AND HIS MARK.
Peace be unto you all....... Thank You Father. By Kingso Quintin Osuogim when u said Christ will come in human capsule, I noticed it u didn't put biblical reference to that. and if u as I guess refer to the second coming of Christ, did the bible teaches that the it's the father and son that will put on human capsule and come? |

Study Finds People More Interested in Sex During Christmas, Eid. Turns out that the holiday season doesn't just bring joy and smiles: it also sees a, um, spike in people's interest in sex, according to researchers. Study Uncovers Alarming Stats on French Women Molested on Public Transport In a study published in the Scientific Reports journal Thursday, scientists revealed that people across the globe, regardless of their religion, become a little more randy during significant holidays such as Christmas or Eid-al-Fitr, the celebration that marks the end of Ramadan. The joint team of researchers, all hailing from the US, the Netherlands and Portugal, used both Google Trends and Twitter to analyze online searches from nearly 130 countries that included populations devoted to both Christianity and Islam. The Alphabet-owned site was used to zero in on word searches from 2004 to 2014, while Twitter was tapped for the years between 2010 and 2014, to look at sentiments expressed by users. To determine where the user's feelings stood, officials used the Affective Norms for English Words, a "normative emotional rating" to determine arousal, dominance and pleasure, according to the University of Florida's Center for the Study of Emotion and Attention . "The rise of the web and social media provides the unprecedented power to analyze changes in people's collective mood and behavior on a massive scale," Luis Rocha, a researcher who co-led the study, said in a statement. "This study is the first 'planetary-level' look at human reproduction as it relates to people's moods and interest in sex online." The analysis ultimately revealed to officials that interests in sex spiked during major cultural or religious celebrations based on the increased use of the word "sex" or similar sexual terms in web searches. Officials later indicated that the peak corresponded with an increase in births nine months after the holiday in countries that provided birthrate data. However, the study did not find the same correlation when it came to holidays such as Easter and Thanksgiving. "We observe that Christmas and Eid-Al-Fitr are characterized by distinct collective moods that correlate with increased fertility," Rocha said. "Perhaps people feel a greater motivation to grow their families during holidays when the emphasis is on love and gift-giving to children." "The Christmas season is also associated with stories about the baby Jesus and holy family, which may put people in a loving, happy, 'family mood,'" the researcher added. Though previous studies suggested that an increase in sex is related to the changing of the seasons, researchers tossed out the notion that biological shifts caused by daylight, temperature and food availability played a role, since the study looked at countries across the world. According to Rocha, the findings can help public health researchers pinpoint the best time of the year for launching public awareness campaigns to encourage safe sex. The study was conducted by researchers from Indiana University, Wageningen University and the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência.

Business › Yam. The Nigeria Gold by thinkmoney(op): 1:55pm On Dec 04, 2017 |
What is the Nigeria gold? It isn't oil, that is for the middle east. It isn't cocoa anymore; ivory coast has taken over that. What is it then? YAM the UN's food agency says Nigeria produces more than 60% of the entire world's yams. Despite this, Nigeria is not one of the world top exporters. Its neighbour, Ghana, produces far less but exports more yams to European countries such as the UK than Nigeria does. Spotting this discrepancy, Nigeria launched an ambitious yam export scheme earlier this year. Nigeria's government wants yam and other agricultural products to replace oil as the mainstay of the economy after the recent worldwide oil slump. So desperate was the situation that government salaries have gone unpaid, with barely a mention made of developmental projects and social amenities. Critics say Nigeria should process yams locally, seeing this as a lost opportunity. ''Fantastic idea! But ask them how much it costs to set up a yam flour processing factory," says the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Ogbeh. "You use full grade stainless steel." Mr Ogbeh says that for now, the best course is to export raw yams. "We have obstacles in our economic ambitions. When we stabilise, and when electricity and interest rates become more reasonable and repayable, Nigerians can try that." So can Nigeria's government really bring in more than $6bn ($4.5bn) every year with yam exports and create thousands of jobs, as it has claimed? 'Yes, and not only yam. Other items are going to follow," says Mr Ogbeh. "But yam is going to be our major hope.'' But Nigeria lacks good storage facilities, the transportation system is very poor, and local traders and exporters are struggling. There are also concerns that greater demand abroad could inflate prices for customers at home, potentially hitting the poorest who rely most on the staple food. ''We need help from the government," says Cecilia John, a farmer, who nevertheless backs the push for exports. "Help in terms of loans, tractors, fertilisers, herbicides and insecticides. If we get these, we will produce many times what we produce now and we will earn more money to take care of our children very well.'' Analysts echo the view that exports of the starch could help to iron out Nigeria's economic woes, but only with sufficient resources and support for producers. |
