The only truth here is what the head teacher said.. Anything and everything u wrote (which I didn't bother myself to read coz I'm not looking for a sleeping drug yet) have been pure gibberish.

Dont wallow in ur ignorance
Bury your head in the sand like the Ostrich that you are.

No one has disputed the Head Teacher's apology to Dilibe Onyeama, the 1st black student to graduate from Eton.

Historical facts have disputed the OP's false claim that Dilibe Onyeama who is known historically to be the 2nd Black student to enroll at Eton, was the 1st Black to enroll, when the whole world celebrated Tokunbo Akintola, the 1st Black student enrollment at Eton in April 1964, 2 terms before Dilibe Onyema passed the entrance exam he failed the previous year.

I know your tribal pride has been hurt knowing an Igbo boy failed the entrance exam he had been preparing for since birth. More still, you are hurt that a Yoruba boy passed that very exam and was celebrated when he enrolled as the 1st black Student at Eton.

What has been seen cannot be unseen. What has become knowledge cannot be erased from the brain. You are already scarred by a humbling truth.

Your tribal agony, your trauma, your cross. Bear it alone with humility.

Exactly!

The head teacher referred to the 1st black to graduate, so why stretch the truth to claim the first black to attend when the whole world celebrated that feat when it happened in April 1964, when Tokunbo Akintola passed the entrance exam and Dilibe Onyeama failed an exam he had been preparing for since his birth?

Or are the videos, pictures, and archived news from NewYork Times and BBC of that novel event, the work of Lagos Ibadan media?

Did the head teacher also mention Ojukwu of Oxford, such that you are angry at me for correcting that Ojukwu lie by the OP?

I have not disputed Dilibe Onyeama's novel graduation as the 1st black. I have factually exposed the lie by the OP that he was the 1st Black at Eton.

Ojukwu's lie by the OP is even very laughable and should not be repeated in the midst of the intelligent.

I repeat that I corrected a lie of "1st Black to attend" by the OP which was never discussed in the news, and not the factual history of "1st Black to graduate", which was clearly stated in the news.

My surprise is that you are angry that I corrected a lie, including the Ojukwu lie about 1st Black at Oxford?

Why are you hurt about facts, but not hurt about the lie from the OP that I corrected?

Could it be that my factual history diminished your joy? You wanted to be joyful over a lie?

Should I see blatant lies on a forum that I can make my own submission and let it pass so that "miseducated" youth like yourself can rejoice over embellished facts and outright falsehood?

How can you be educated if the truth angers you?

I specifically challenge 2 lies that Dilibe Onyeama was the 1st Black/African at Eton, and that Ojukwu was the first Black/African at Oxford.

Why are you so traumatized that I challenged a lie with historical facts?

You mention dropout as though the young Akintola failed an exam and had to withdraw?

The same Tokunbo Akintola who passed the entrance exam that Dilibe Onyeama failed such that Dilibe had to try his luck the next year and resume 1 year behind his agemate?

But when the time came, Onyeama failed the entrance exams. Another Nigerian boy, Tokunbo Akintola, thus became the first black student in Eton, attracting global media attention.

For your information, the father of Tokunbo Akintola, SLA Akintola who was the Premier of Western Nigeria, was killed by Igbo soldiers in Jan 1966 coup, within 2 years of Tokunbo's scholarship at Eton.

Going by your unwarranted clout-chasing, of what use is the first person to 'physically' enroll in a school and then 'spiritually' not graduate?

For all I care, it's a needless argument. The main point of the story was to apologise for the racial prejudice. Shun tribal bigotry of any kind. The white man is apologizing to the black man, and yet the black man has turned it into a tribalism bashing contest. Oh what an irony!

My post which you all quoted was in response to the false claims the OP Koning made in his later post as seen bolded above. It was not a response to his original post which is factual that Dilibe Onyeama was the 1st black to graduate at Eton.

What is a blatant lie is that Dilibe Onyeama was the first Black in Eton. That glory goes to Tokunbo Akintola who passed the exam that Dilibe failed, allowing Akintola to take the glory that should have been jointly shared by both if Dilibe had passed and enrolled at the same time Tokunbo Akintola did.

As for Tokunbo Akintola not finishing there, we all know his father was killed in the January 1966 coup which ensured the 2 boys never became friends since the killers of SLA Akintola were from the same tribe as Dilibe Onyeama.

Also, the claim that Emeka Ojukwu who graduated from Oxford in 1955 was the first Black man and Nigerian in Oxford, is belied by verifiable fact that Christian Cole from Sierra Leone was the first Black/African man at Oxford in 1873, while Kofoworola Ademola (nee Moore) was the first Black/African woman and the first ever Nigerian at Oxford university, and she graduated in 1935 when Emeka Ojukwu was yet to be 2yrs old.

So next time, implore the OP Koning to not embellish the facts of a matter by adding lies to the truth.

The truth is never nasty or blind, and does not need to fear God.

Onyema finished before that Ethiopian.

Tokunbo Akintola's schooling was disrupted by his father's assassination in the Jan 1966 coup.

That incident made his relationship with Dilibe Onyeama very acrimonious, since the killers of his father were Igbos like Dilibe.

He later left for another UK school or returned to Nigeria.

Did you also see the part that said Dilibe Onyeama failed the entrance exam even though he had been enrolled from birth owing to his father's connection. His failure at the entrance exam, while Tokunbo Akintola passed the very same exam is the reason why Tokunbo became the first black student to physically enroll in the school, while Dilibe Onyeama eventually passed the next year to be the 2nd Black student enrolled.

A long journey to Eton
Onyeama was registered to attend Eton on the day he was born in January 1951.

His father, Charles Dadi Umeha Onyeama, studied at Oxford University, worked as a magistrate in British-ruled Nigeria, and mixed well with the top of British society, eventually becoming a judge at the International Court of Justice at The Hague.

With the man's connections, his second son was at birth the first black boy to be registered in the elite school.

But when the time came, Onyeama failed the entrance exams. Another Nigerian boy, Tokunbo Akintola, thus became the first black student in Eton, attracting global media attention.

Onyeama eventually enrolled two terms after Akintola.

But the 14-year-olds, who came from different ethnic groups, did not get along.

"The very person who should have been my best friend, given my predicament, turns out to be more of an enemy," Onyeama wrote.

Akintola left Eton after about two years and so Onyeama became the first black person to complete his education at the prestigious school.

This is not an argument. I am telling you a fact about the first Black student at Eton College.

Or is not in this life that Ovation Magazine once titled a story about Philip Emeagwali with the post of Professor?

Unlike Tokunbo, another Nigerian, the second to attend the school, Dillibe Onyeama, went on to become a renowned author.
Onyeama arrived Eton two terms after Tokunbo did. He is now a prominent writer whose first book Nigger at Eton sold out at the time it was published in June 1972. He wrote the book at the age of 18.

Last month my friend who was having symptoms of covid19, went to the nearest testing center where they collected his blood sample and contact details. They told him to go home, that they will contact him once his test result is out. He waited for one week, two weeks, they didn't contact him. He had to rely on self medication to treat himself and got better a week plus.

One month later (early June) when he thought everything was over (the corona virus scare), he received a call from NCDC Edo state that he is covid19 positive according to the result of his test. They arranged the time and day they will be coming to pick him up. He was told that if he should flee he would be place on police wanted list.

When they came to pick him up, no matter how many times he told them he no longer has symptoms of covid19 and was already OK, they did not listen him. They bundled him to the isolation center. My friend is currently at the isolation center as I type, despite the fact that he had long recovered from whatever illness he had.
While it is noteworthy that he was tested long ago, only for the positive result to come out 1 month later after self medication, he still needs to test negative.

So when Yoruba elites were traveling to Europe for education, your own people were fleeing to Yorubaland? Yet a tribe that looks up to the Yorubas lament daily that they are being envied?

The economic refugee had a requirement for service which was rendered by the lad. It was no philanthropy.

The young lad sought employment and was paid in tuition fees.

So you mean it is the laziness of the parents that many Igbos from the village are sent to the city to be trained by their townsmen?

But even earlier than 1927, many Igbos fled the East to come work in the West as domestic servants for university educated Yorubas who were employed in the colonial service.

It also lends credence to the fact that Igbos like F.O Monu, have always fled the East to pursue economic prosperity in the West.

Could it be because all the infrastructure of Nigeria was located in the West as at 1927 as Igbos now claim is the reason for their migration, or because the West has always naturally been better positioned to excel?
