The PDP Presidential Primaries for the 2003 election was a national affair. Obasanjo from SouthWest. Ekwueme from SouthEast. Rimi from NorthWest. Gemade from NorthCentral.
|
PDP Presidential Primaries for the 1999 election was a Southern affair.
|
proeast:How was it done to Yoruba in 1999 when up to 6 fellow Southerners contested the PDP national convention in Jos held in 1998?
|
Shame on Buhari. The same way he was sleeping while APC legislators were waiting for him at a scheduled meeting to give direction to the party's preferred candidate for Senate President and Speaker, while the devious and unscrupulous Saraki had slept the Night in the National Assembly car park so he could gain access the following day without being noticed, to execute his unthinkable coup against his own party by denying his own fellow APC senators the right to vote in their first legislative task of electing principal officers. This is the same way Buhari has been sleeping on matters that concern staff and family in Aso Villa. |
Lalasticlala, this political history of PDP zoning need to be given a broader audience. |
richie240:I swear dem swear for those guys. |
Sagay212:They are cursed to always compare themselves to Yorubas. We are their nightmare. |
techmo:The whole tribe need to be rehabilitated after the trauma of unconditional surrender that happened after continuing a war that had already been lost with the successful economic and geographical blockade executed by the FG. |
helinues:How is that so? |
kayfra:Indeed! They do not even have any history as a people, as their clannishness and distrust for each other stood in the way of their greater development. |
kayfra:In fact, it was a shame to see a tribe that should be doing an internal reflection, begin hunting for equality in crime. This is a tribe where every young boy with questionable wealth is either a Don K, or Don J, or high chief. A tribe that idolizes money and only respects those with money. What a shame. |
techmo:Exactly! For Invictus Obi, the allegations were already filed in court for which the warrant of arrest was granted. So there was already factual and explicit information on his arrest from the get go. Kanu, like his fellow bitter and emotional tribesmen, are a sorry case who must find a way to inject their own self created Igbophobia on any matter, even if it does not directly involve the Igbos. It is an obsession that is pathological. |
Was anyone surprised that hushpuppy was arrested on suspicion of fraud? Was that newsworthy at all, compared to a supposedly clean businessman who was celebrated by Forbes, only to be revealed he was a fraudster? Besides, even the US and UAE have refused to release any credible information on the arrest and crime of Hushpuppi and his accomplices, unlike Invictus Obi whose case had already been filed in a US court. But I am not surprised that Kanu and his fellow traumatized clansmen are wailing even over a Yoruba. Must the Igbos always find a way to make themselves the victims of any matter? Haba! This thing is a mental disorder. Let the Federal Government ban Suya that is largely made by Northerners. Igbos will claim it was targeted at them because according to IPOB Bureau of Statistics, Igbos are the largest customers of Suya joints, so it is a ploy to deny Igbos of Suya. |
Atiku that lost his village polling unit, and is not sure if his village is now in Cameroon just like when he was born a Cameroonian? Abeg mention someone else from the Northern Nigeria that has followership in his village, instead of an Alhaji from Northern Cameroon. |
raumdeuter:You can imagine. But the begging delight me so much. I always love when arrogance is flattened. |
Instead of begging outrightly, they have been blackmailing. Knowing they do not even have the numbers to blackmail anyone, they have been forcing their own political agenda on the SS whose political agenda is defined by the many ethnic groups that make the region. I really pity the SouthEast. |
Apawicked:I am also glad I reminded you that your tribe has been wailing over this Yoruba matter just like this same topic opened by a frustrated clansman. I always enjoy seeing such topics that project your weakness and frustration. Stop begging us not to contest. |
proeast:APC will not give its ticket to Tinubu, rather, APC will hold a primary and Yorubas that helped form the party and helped win the ongoing presidency will contest, and if planned well will also win. Igboman should stop feeling frustrated before the contest. No one has barred you from contesting if you know how to play politics. The same way you saw how Abiola won Tofa. The same way you saw how Femi Gbajabiamila won the Speakership. You will see such again in 2023, and you will wail some more. |
Apawicked:We are no threat yet you daily lament about our rights to contest the Primaries of a party we helped to form, that you hate so much? We are no threat? Yet you are not at peace and the frustration cannot be hidden till 2023 is near? |
The 1998 Primaries shows that Yorubas were not gifted the PDP ticket. More so, the 2003 Primaries show that even the North contested against a sitting PDP President that was Yoruba. In all the PDP Primaries, there was no allowance for micro-zoning to a single geopolitical region. |
seunmsg:They are begging with style. They want SW to allow them play it alone. They actually want to be President more than voting for any Fulani Muslim, but they know they are useless in a contest between the SW vs SE. It is actually good that they know their place and need support of the SS to achieve anything. Unfortunately for them, they think all the many tribes of the SS have an Igbocentric agenda. The same way they were surprised when the Christian MiddleBelt abandoned their phanthom Southern alliance and voted for Buhari over Jonathan in 2015. Let them wail now, as there are more tears to come. |
OfoIgbo:Hahahaha! Igbo man and his pathological obsession of destroying Yorubas. It never ends for these emotional cry babies. I am actually happy that you project the weakness that you do. You are weak politically, and that is good enough for me. |
Gabkosh:I am happy with the frustration of the SouthEast. This is the same region that destroyed Jonathan politically. Now they are opening topics to wail about how Yorubas must show political mercy and gift them APC ticket. Igbos should stop begging Yorubas over APC ticket and pursue their political ambition through the party they have been supporting. |
OfoIgbo:I thought you posted the below before? In one breath you agree there was no agreement, in another breath you claim betrayal? Don't cause a stroke for your brain with all this conflicts in your emotional head. You are the typical angry and frustrated clansman. Imagine all the wailings and indirect begging through blackmail, just to have we Yorubas gift Igbos the APC ticket. What a shame for your tribe. OfoIgbo: |
OfoIgbo:Even you also consider the SE as insignificant in the scheme of Nigerian affairs. You cannot stand alone without forcing yourself on the SS and speaking for them? What a shameless broken backbone. |
izzou:No need apologizing, as the only answer to your "if" question is that maybe PDP will consider the option of not having a Presidential candidate at all for 2023, so no need for Presidential primaries. |
izzou:There is no if, since all the options have been considered as restated below. For the 2023 election, it is either PDP zones its President ticket to a half of the country (the whole South) without micro-zoning, like it was in 1999 (South) or 2019 (North); or the ticket is not zoned at all, allowing for an all comers affair like it was in 2003, 2006 and 2011. |
UNCONFIRMED BUT ALMOST CERTAINLY ACCURATE PDP PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARIEShttps://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/soc.culture.nigeria/e3p6UBNplJI 1998 PDP Presidential Primaries The above 1998 Jos Convention of the PDP for the 1999 Presidential election, shows that aspirants were drawn from the 3 Southern geopolitical zones, showing there was no micro-zoning, or gifting of the party ticket to any region or tribe, besides the fact that it was exclusively zoned to the South, while the North watched from the sidelines having wielded power for about 20yrs uninterrupted (1st Oct 1979 to 29th May 1999). 2003 PDP Presidential Primaries This was contested by Obasanjo from the SouthWest as incumbent president. There was no zoning as both Southerners and Northerners contested. Alex Ekwueme from SouthEast contested, Abubakar Rimi from NorthWest contested, and Barnabas Gemade from NorthCentral contested. Obasanjo: 2642 votes, 75% Ekwueme: 611 votes, 17% Rimi: 159 votes Gemade: 17 votes https://reliefweb.int/report/nigeria/nigeria-obasanjo-wins-party-nomination-second-term 2006 PDP Presidential Primaries The PDP had both Southerners and Northerners contest it 2006 Presidential primaries, where Rochas Okorocha from SouthEast was a distant 2nd to the winner, Umaru Musa Yar'Adua from the NorthWest. 2011 & 2015 PDP Presidential Primaries Same played out in 2011 PDP primaries, when Jonathan from SouthSouth defeated Atiku from NorthEast. Also Jonathan as incumbent ran unopposed in 2014. 2019 PDP Presidential Primaries Same micro-zoning was not allowed for the PDP Presidential primaries that was exclusively zoned to the North for the 2019 election. Atiku & Dankwambo (NorthEast), Saraki & David Mark (NorthCentral), and Tambuwal & Kwankwaso & Markafi & Turaki & Lamido (NorthWest) were the major aspirants, with Atiku as the winner. For the South, the most recent instance of zoning was for the PDP National Chairmanship in 2017. Candidates from the SW and SS contested, and the SS was triumphant. Micro-zoning to the SW was not allowed, despite that it was only the SW that was yet to produce the PDP National chairmanship prior to that 2017 PDP convention. |
Tap0lane:It is a very good question for Proeast. |
proeast:Who asked the North not to contest? Can a region which has ruled for 20 uninterrupted years and finally deciding to handover power to others, still handover power to its same self? I like how you have suddenly lost your voice over the fact that when the north pushed power to the South, not only the SW contested for it. Thankfully, even PDP has shown with its National Chairman election, that there will be no micro-zoning of power as requested by the SouthWest who were the only Southern zone yet to occupy the National Chairmanship. Both the SW and SS contested, and the SS won. We shed no tears. It is now you will feel the pain for all the bridges you have burnt in a multiethnic country. All of the South will contest both PDP and APC Presidential primaries. Any Northerner who feels entitled is also welcome to exercise his/her democratic franchise. Let the SouthEast continue wailing aimlessly. |
proeast:What manner of political ignoramus is this dude? So the North who were handing over from military rule since ruling from 1979 (20yrs uninterrupted), chose to take an obvious rest, and let the South slug it out. Did Alex Ekwueme, Don Etiebet, Alabo Graham Douglas and others not contest for the PDP presidential ticket for the 1999 election? Are those politicians not from SouthEast and SouthSouth? Did Alex Ekwueme not contest for the 2003 PDP ticket, and lost again to Obasanjo? So, even the PDP ticket for 2023 will be contested by the SouthWest. |
proeast:Are you talking of the same APC that your ilk labelled as Janja.weed Ewedu and Amala Islamization party? The same APC that you daily rejoice how the SouthEast has rejected such party? You suddenly want to be gifted the Presidential ticket of this same party, and term the valid aspirations of the SouthWest members of the party they largely formed as a betrayal of the APC hating SouthEast? Now I know why your tribe is always wailing. It is a mental disorder that is ingrained in the DNA. |
