This is nice. If literary works are not encouraged by our money making organizations like those in the telecoms and other sectors then it is our responsibility to fill in that gap. It would be nice if we also had poetry competitions. I am a member of Abuja Literary Society and it would be nice to let one of the poetry organizations in Nigeria in on it. Kudos to whoever birthed this idea.
Really? I am also a member. Maybe we could meet at the Book Jam this friday grin

Good evening all.

It is with utmost join that I, Timpaker is here with you all to witness this great project called the "Nairaland Poetry Club".

Having been a member of this great site since my day of registration, I must confess that I have learnt a lot from people, especially like-minds in the Literature Section.
I believe that with this platform, more poets from Nairaland would key in to the mission and vision of the club and paint this section with colourful words of poetry that would beautify the hearts of readers.

I wish to use this medium to call out "closet poets" to join this club and post their works and get groomed to be better poets. I also wish to implore those who think poetry is a complicated piece of writing, to open their hearts and appreciate the words we organise in different forms and thoughts as poems/poetry.

On this note, my sincere gratitude goes to OMA4U and his team for their painstaking effort in delivering this infant club from the womb of ideas under the great theatre of Nairaland. I believe this baby club would be fed with sweet poetry as it continue to grow.

Finally, I feel so honoured to be part of this great team, not just as a VIP but as a poet. With this, I say, welcome abode everyone and I pray you enjoy your read here. Thank You.

Have you seen my pen?
The sword of my heart

Have you seen my pen?
The sting of my muse -

Have you seen my pen?
The flute for my rhythm

Have you seen my pen?
In its ink my poetry swam

Have you seen my pen?
It squirts the tears of my soul

Have you seen my pen?
I need to paint my thoughts

Have you seen my pen?
The silent voice that echoes from afar

When you see my pen
Tell it that my joy reside in it.

Good evening....

FamilyRe: House Maid Beat Young Child To Near Death In Uganda (video) by timpaker(m):
Mondisweets:
the worst part was the child was in too much pain to even move while she was being abused
Honestly, that video is an eye opener to me. There won't be no such thing as 'maid' in my house. The way she slapped the baby is enough to damage her eardrums and make her deaf or have hearing disorder.... The step could damage her spinal cord too...seriously, that video is disturbing.

The part that got to me most was the slap that threw the baby to the ground after she puked, the stepping on the child and the kick! Damn! That girl is heartless.... Na by force to be nanny?

Poems For ReviewRe: Rudiments Of Poetry by timpaker(m): 1:07pm On Nov 10, 2014
MY NAME

My name glued her door like a sticker,
Above it was hers too tagged 'Mrs.'
She wrote it with her lipstick,
A kiss stamping both names,
And underneath says
"Us together"
But are we?
You and
I?

dotman2460:
Not all carry red passports. State Security Service officials, medical personnel, State House correspondence (journos) do not carry red passport. And they need visa.
Abeg tell the guy oooo. See confusion abeg....
justwise:
Please stop lying, those traveling with GEJs will be holding red passports grin, they don't need visa,

Those who do will not be queuing for visa at US embassy grin, its express with note verbale
Lol. I laugh at your thought.
An Official Passport (Blue Cover) is what they issue to people traveling with GEJ from State House and these people travel before the President to make preparation for his coming (and it is not all of the them, some still make use of their ECOWAS/Ordinary passport). They are not diplomat. I repeat, THEY ARE NOT DIPLOMAT!!!

Secondly, a note verbale is written/issued when someone is embarking on an OFFICIAL assignment. Most times when traveling, the Protocol Officer writes to the Embassy accompanying the passports or passport number of people (with ordinary or official passport) traveling for an assignment with the following reasons:
1. That such Visas should be granted
2. To reduce the bureaucracy in the Embassy and tend to such passport with urgency i.e. to bypass the 45 working days most embassies put on Visa application and approval.

Thirdly, I never said the lady in question was a diplomat.... All I said was, She called someone from the Protocol Office who spoke with someone from inside the embassy and her visa was approved.

Now, who is the liar and who is the one misleading and misinforming people here? cheesy
Hope you find my summary helpful in some of your other arguments?
Cheers!

do you know they have a Protocol Officer in State House, as in the one that does all the Visa application for GEJ's entourage? Dude, abeg do your research wella.
