Dear Sonneteer (Rhyme) How do I write a good sonnet? When I don't consider myself a poet Cuz I'm not skilled in juggling words that rhymes Or think out tunes that perfectly chimes I've heard that its not hard afterall, That I just have to have the gall To thread on its fourteen lines Scheming my feelings through its pines Well, I know that my pen shall one day rain And that the river of poetry flows in my vein Then would my words would roll on Adam's tongue As a hymn on their lips like a sing-sung For I know that one day These words would pay The true work of my art Of that phrase that rhymes in my heart |

OMA4U: This Timpaker na God know where e for learn poetry. Best nairaland poet is not a modicum neither is it a plethora of encomium, but a succint laud. Cuddlemii is busy now so we need you to take the mantle, pls. Tim, have you had any published works?I don't think i agree with you on that one. Guy, Na wa to you oooo. I can't say if I have any but a friend is seeking to publish one of my poetic stories (not The Convict) soon. I'm sorry I can't take up Cuddlemii"s spot cuz I'm always on the move, i.e I travel a lot and the task requires adequate concentration and composure (which are like gold to me aside working). I think I'm better of as a participant. But I trust you can handle the contest very well judging from the passion you have for poetry and the way you handled the weekly contest before the Nairaland Tsunami |

I DON'T KNOW By the village tree Sat its simpatico kinsmen Gathered under Solomon's shadow Smoking pipe of tobacco leave Telling tales of women While waxing crafty willows In their proclivity To whine, laugh and grieve As their wrinkle weighs tittle tears *********** Mothers chinwags About their men prowess, Bickering in breathe-like sound As others cajole and buttress, Some scalawag Dressed in Judas gown Posed like an actress Took mouth to ears Before two men - old good friends... And they wrestled themselves to the ground ************ Their children plays peekaboo, All lost in the glowing night, Crickets chirping with silence Dogs barking, Women bickering, Waxing men wrestling, Kids playing, The dark stage illumine The lantern refereed - Dimming in dramatic plight ********** Red-capped chiefs Staggered to the scene The hubbub tot up glean With all its facts, Caused lovers to become strangers And friends swore to be foes Each tasting the sands Pointing fingers Up high and the dusty moon Cooed the stars in one accord ************* Later in the night Aggrieved men seeks a brother Cuz they couldn't sleep under their covers As amity is lighter while Hatred weighs lead, Fielding mothers Longs for the warmth of peace As carefree Children Snores under their sheets And before the co ck crows, Pride were sheathed by fathers With all agreeing That they all live for others |

Kaycee7: AudreyTimms or whoever U are, I'm going to have U arrested and charged to court on charges of keeping me captivated since the wee hours of this morning with ur fantastic tale.I'm telling you. The guy/girl just had me mesmerised. I had to hide somewhere to finish the story to avoid bn distracted. Its no doubt among one of the best stories I've read here on NL. BTW, how you dey self? |
eph12:I think I have the right to use this words here. Tested and trusted - you sure are a good and honest businessman. Thanks for the prompt delivery of my stuff. (My guys have rushed em all so I'll be contacting you again for another one) Cheers! |
Xtarxhyne: hehehehe..I hardly use mine doh...I don't lyk DAT so-u-use-glasses lookWell, you gotta learn not to care less what people say. Most medicated glasses are correctional glasses if you don't use em appropriately then your eyes aren't gonna improve. If you had said that you don't like the glasses cuz of the mark it gives on your nose or near your ears that would have been better. Though, people like me go around with two glasses; a sun shade (which I wear when I wanna enter the hood - you know what I mean) and my medicated glasses for clearer vision (especially cute thingz ) |
Dolemite: The tragedy about this is that he feels I'm playing, but I am not.If you wanna truly show how serious you are then stop shaving your eyebrows. Secondly, get yourself a puppy probably for/from him **EXPO** Thank me later |
Xtarxhyne: I squint weneva mnt wit my glassesSame here. Using glasses has nothing to do with intelligence. It's just a correctional measure for the eyes. I remember back in secondary school, teachers always assume I know everything cuz I wear glasses and would embarrass me in class then to answer questions I don't know, and after that, I learnt to go to class prepared just in case. Now, its just funny how people who would just say "That guy na very coded guru " just cuz they see you with a laptop or book and the term "geek" would be place on ya. Nigerians sha!Though, I must confess I've been favoured several times cuz of my use of glasses. Lastly, they'd say "oh boy I think say u quiet oooo" especially when they get to know me. Heheheheheh. I love the misconception though |
