Happy birthday Firestar.
Wishing you many more fruitful years ahead
**how do I translate the above into french?**

I'm dedicating this piece from Joanna Fuchs to you

Instead of counting candles,
Or tallying the years,
Contemplate your blessings now,
As your birthday nears.
Consider special people
Who love you, and who care,
And others who’ve enriched your life
Just by being there.
Think about the memories
Passing years can never mar,
Experiences great and small
That have made you who you are.
Another year is a happy gift,
So cut your cake, and say,
"Instead of counting birthdays,
I count blessings every day!"

fflamingo: Relationship is the oldest institution in the earth as after the creation of Adam the creator also allows for an help mate . it could however be recalled that after creation, God promised the First man a help mate. However civilization has eroded the face of youth. who engage in relationship without the calls of their creator.
Good evening ladies and gentle men accurate moderators, co-debater, Able judges ,people of the press, and the audience. fflamingo is the name and am here to support the motion which says "religion make. A better relationship".Religion is an organized collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and world views that relate humanity to an order of existence Many religions have narratives, symbols, and sacred histories that are intended to explain the meaning of life and/or to explain the origin of life or the Universe. From their beliefs about the cosmos and human nature, people derive morality, ethics, religious laws or a preferred lifestyle. fflamingo et al defined religion as "the feelings,
acts, and experiences of individual men in their solitude, so far as they apprehend themselves(males and females) to stand in relation to whatever they may consider the divine .By the term "divine" i mean "any object that is godlike, whether it be a concrete deity or not to which the individual feels impelled to respond with solemnity and gravity." The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition. Defines Relationship as. the mutual dealings, connections, or feelings that exist between two parties, a male and a female partners. Relationship further illustrates that this set party share the same belief, thought, perspective about romantic relationship is any relationship between people with the desire to become intimate with each other. For the relationship to be romantic, both parties must mutually feel an attraction to each other.
Religion has a long way to go in making a successful happy home. In one religion or the other there are certain rules and doctrines which categorically explain how a relationship should behave, coordinate organize his home. Religion is saddle with the responsibility to serve as guiding principle, norms and standard, etiquettes in having a better relationships.*Uses hand gestures to illustrate my explanation.
For instance; Christianity has certain standard where the couple are directly submitted to their God there have certain principle which serve as a prerequisite in relationship which on normal standard has a long way to go in having a better society and a better home.
Listening audience/viewer you have to believe with me that religion in relationships should be a laid over rules that should not be disputed or argued about.
Moslems too had its own guiding principle which punctuate the daily life of its worhispper in the sense of certain prejudice for example as a moslems its really do not lay emphasis on having only one Wife. So as an intending Alhaji or alhaja its should Be ready and willing to accommodate more wife if it deem necessary. Traditionally wife should be willing to share his husband with other female if the husband choose to have and as the Christian too do stately explains that the husband WOULD only have one wife till death do them apart; and its doctrine do not state another wife in essence.
I would want to talk more on the importance of religion in a perfect relationship but Time and space would deny me of such opportunity to clearly illustration the numerous roles religion play in relationship until am called upon again to convince nairalander that Religion is a vital tool in relationship. Till then I humbly rest my case.
All protocols duly observed
I, Timpaker strongly disagree with my opponent in his above points and having observed the contradictory assertion posited and I quote

"(Relationship further illustrates that this set party share the same belief, thought, perspective about romantic relationship is any relationship between people with the desire to become intimate with each other. For the relationship to be romantic, both parties must mutually feel an attraction to each other.
Religion has a long way to go in making a successful happy home)" to the last paragraph, I make bold to say that relationship isn't only about marriage or is religion about christian, moslim and others as my opponent is trying to make us believe. Religion in this issue is the difference in beliefs, values and norms and all religion does NOT share the same set of belief with each other but rather lays down certain guides which eventually shapes us and influences their decisions. For instance, as a muslim, marrying as many wives as possible is widely encouraged but it is so despised by christians as the christians are more liberal to life unlike the muslims who I wish to refer to as the conservatives. In this instance where a man eventually marries another woman there is bound to be conflict in the house as the former will feel threatened or terminate whatever is left of their relationship because in her religion polygamy is greatly frowned upon.
Secondly, the ability to be romantically attracted to a person of an opposite religion cannot be overemphasized because we do not choose whom we fall in love with but that doesn't mean that every attraction will eventually lead to marriage. Parents hardly give consent to such unions because of the sensibility of religion in the society. You don't expect a muslim to get married in church do you? Again, most romantics relationship of different religious background are not harmonous in nature. This is because the decision of whom will relinquish his/her belief for peace sake often go chaotic as each holds an aspect of his/her belief sacred and not even love can make one forgo it.
With this few points I hope I have been able to convince you otherwise. Thank you
RomanceRe: Does Religion Make Or Mar Relationships? #debateENDED by timpaker(m): 8:12pm On Nov 09, 2013
Good evening Nairaland, I am Timpaker and I am of the opinion that ‘Religion Mars Relationship’Before I proceed I will like to define the following terms ‘Relationship and Religion For the purpose of this debate:Relationship by Encarta definition is:
1. Behaviour or feelings towards somebody else: the connection between two or more people or group and their involvement with one another, especially as regards the way they behave towards and feel about one another
Religion according to Encarta dictionary definition is:
1. Personal Beliefs or values: a set of strongly- held beliefs, values, and attitudes that somebody lives by
2. Beliefs and worship: people’s beliefs and opinions concerning the existence, nature, and worship of a
deity or deities, and divine involvement in the universe and human life.
With the above definitions in mind, I wish to convince everybody/anybody that Religion mars Relationship.
The religious faith distinguish between certain transcending events and the everyday world whose realms people feel as the ‘sacred’ and the ‘profane’.
Typically, these reflect the norms and values of an individual or people and the socialization experiences within that individual or people. As religion emphasize, the meanings that one attach to people’s behaviour are shaped by his/her interactions with one another and with the larger
society.

Before I go in toto, It has been observed that Christians worship one God and base their belief and values on the life and works of Jesus Christ. Within Christianity, Pentecostals places. special emphasis on their direct personal experiences of God. Muslims, are also monotheistic, but they base their beliefs of scriptural revelations about God in the holy book – these religions hold many aspects of life sacred and any infringement would deter and daunt any existing inter-religious relationship.

Accordingly, I am of the opinion that religion is foundational and hereditarian in nature and beliefs
and values inculcated from infancy are behavioural determinant. Often times, people say that Religion
has nothing to do with relationship especially as it involve two opposite se.xx with a delusional notion
that “Love and understanding is all that matters”. Well, that is fallacious! I wish to state that the need to be loved and understood has to be religiously influenced to accept a particular value, norm and belief which is made to seem right and supreme in one’s view; these beliefs and values are usually implanted on an individual by his/her parent as thus feel that their religion is the true religion and treat others as profanatory.
However, in a relationship the conflict arises by parental pressure (threat to disownment and excommunication); Peer pressure – advices from friends through name-calling e.g. calling one a hypocrites, ritualist, idolater or a terrorist; Difference of opinion - this is the when a dear one's beliefs are disrespected and suppressed of the other opinion through contradictory verses from a holy book verse.
So de facto, since religion is considered to be very sensitive and sacred, other demerits which mars the relationship are religious influence in the relationship e.g. naming of child, religion of child/couple, personal lifestyle (Polygamy, Monogamy, drinking of alcohol and eating of pork) forfeiting of ones right to act in accordance with his/her religion etc.
Practically speaking, Love does not strive where one’s religion is being despised by the larger society and the fear of being identified or tagged ‘an infidel’ mars whatever is left in a relationship. Succinctly, even as one would want to claim he/she loves his/her friend, a public outcry or outrage on a particular religion may leave the other vulnerable. That being said, to avoid an avoidable conflict, people want to have someone that shares the same belief, value and norm whom they can understand based on the doctrines of their religion, someone that they would reciprocate ones love without external influence (parents and friends in a society), someone whom one would spend the afterlife with, someone that would go worship and pray with…knowing that a family that prays together stays together but if they don’t what happens?
With all these said, I hope I have convinced you that religion mars relationship. Thank you.

Lonely paddle
On a calm wave
Stroke after stroke
The journey never ends
Infinite sight hides
Behind the sunset and
The big yellow ball smiles
At my face - where is home?
East, West, North or South?
Where is land?
Under the ocean?
I'm gonna loose my mind
And...
(Silence)
Where am I?
Desert-sea?
