Yeah i know which is why i wrote that it has been defined by human ideology. They have helped GOD to add it to the list of sins and have found a way to merge it with sexual immorality which was well explained in the bible.

I think if a person just discovers masturbation they could get addicted ( addiction of any kind is a sin) like every other pleasurable activity (weed, drinking etc)

But a person who can control it, say once a week or month (self control) then it is not a sin.
I really don't know. This amount of data which emanates from this subject is always inconclusive.
Mayb its one of those paradox we're don't yet understand.

I smell something familiar in this thread.

I have a very close female friend who is about 31 years. She told me last week that she has vowed never to allow any man take advantage of her again and she told me of how she masturbates sexual tension off her body which has helped her to stay clear of fornication for a year or more.

While some people crave for sex even after masturbating, it can not be denied that teh act has saved many people from committing fornication over and over again.

Some people have really seen GOD as so mean that he will create a sexual drive in us, forbids us to fornicate and then counts it as sin if we decide to put off sexual drive habba.

It is clear...Masturbation was never mentioned as a sin in the bible but the ideology of man has made it one....so after going through the bible and trying to understand this from the ideological perspective i have arrived at these;

Fornication is sin
Watching Pornography is sin(Because you will lust after the people in the film and the Bible says lustful look is a sin)
Visual Pornographic induced masturbation is sin(Same as above(
Sexual thought is healthy
masturbating to wade off fornication is not a sin.


The argument is what do you think about when you masturbate? ?the girl next door? a sexual act you have had in the past?...for whatever it is,i do not see how thinking about sex translates to sin else all of us will definitely end up in hell because as i type this, i am thinking about sex.

The problem is the addiction which makes people confuse it for a sin but the truth is that you can be addicted to many sinless acts.

My main aim of creating this thread is to prevent countless people from giving up their salvation because they find themselves masturbating and to tell them not to despair and count themselves unworthy for GOD's kingdom and to encoutrage them to use masturbation to put their body under check rather than explode with passion by raping,molesting or fornicating...that is the aim of this write up.

Having wet dreams is not a sin. Stop creating confusing impressions here to defend ur debauched state. When one has a dream he is not aware. He is not conscious of what's going on. It is not deliberate.

For singles, God has given the ability to masturbate, and has not forbidden it. For married couples who are apart and who are thinking of each other, the same applies.

But God has most definitely forbidden sinful thoughts that so often accompany masturbation which usually comes as lust and as we know, visual lust is indeed fornication and when you fantasize about sex I believe it is a build up to fornication and while some people give in to the sin of fornication, some may decide to ease off and forget about fornicating.

I will continue to say that masturbating is a habit and not a sin and like many other habits, one needs to check it...some people masturbate once a day, some once a week and some once a month while some have allowed addiction to set in and they do it several times a day and that is why people now tag it a sin.

Thinking lustfully of your legally married wife is not a sin, obviously as God himself has sanctified the marriage union.

A lot of young men masturbate without thinking of any woman. This usually happens in the early teenage years.

Also as a young man not engaged in sexual intercourse, you are bound to have wet dreams once in a while. I don't think that is a sin. I have seen at least two young men come to my Office crying that they had wet dreams in the night and they think it is spiritual attack or that they have sinned. That is ignorance of the highest order. A sin becomes a sin when you think about it, deliberate/plan it, and finally execute it and the end result is not in keeping with God's laws. If you werent thinking anything sexual when u went to sleep, and u had a wet dream, how can it be a sin? Its different if u occupied your mind with bisi, the girl that lives down the street , or you were watching porn before going to sleep.


One of the ways the devil decieves and discourages christians is to make them feel so guilty that they no longer feel God's love. That is why the devil is called the accuser of the brethren. A christain can feel so discouraged , that he may feel he no longer needs to run the Christian race. Its called despair and its a sin against the Holy Spirit.

Do not be so overcome by guilt that you no longer feel God's unwavering love.

The point is that masturbation in itself is not a sin and was never mentioned as a sin in the bible but i see it as a habit like every other good or bad habits as decided by an individual but don't tag it a sin.

The funny side to it is that people usually associate sexual thoughts that come with the act a sin and i still don't understand how it becomes a sin for me to have sexual thoughts...for petes sake i am a sexually active man and i think sex everyday. When I gave my life to Christ in 1987 I realized one funny trend.

Each time I do some things that some see as sin I usually tell myself that I'm not good enough to be saved.

In fact people will tell me to my face that I'm a fake born again just because I got angry or use words like get out.

The truth is that human philosophy has replaced scriptural injunctions and this has led many people to hell.

One can also go through the Septuagint translation of the Old Testament to see what Hebrew words were translated to get an idea of what the word meant. You will find:

zenunim - Harlotry, prostitution ( Hosea 1:2 ; Nahum 3:4 )

zenuth - Unfaithfulness, prostitution ( Numbers 14:33 ;

taznuth - Harlotry, lust ( Ezekiel 16:15 ; 23:7 , 11 )

The actual Greek word for masturbation was anaphlan , which does not appear in the Bible.

As I pointed out in " Is masturbation sinful or not? " the act of masturbation would fall underneath one category of uncleanness, that of ejaculation. Unclean things in themselves, such as pigs, death bodies, menstrual periods, etc., were not sinful in and of themselves.

Breaking the laws in dealing with unclean things was sinful. Since God did not define the act of masturbation as sinful, nor as righteous, it would be sinful to add or subtract from what God said.

Instead, we look at what typically accompanies masturbation and there we find plenty of things to talk about why those accompanying things are wrong.

But even here, the accompanying sinful things, such as pornography, are sinful because the Bible condemns pornography ( I Thessalonians 4:5 ).

Can you see the way I have used the scriptures to buttress my point?

Food is good and eating is sinless provided you eat reasonably but when you eat too much you become a glutton and gluttony is a sin.

Taking alcohol is never mentioned as a sin but when you allow drunkenness to set in then you have sinned but because many people usually cross the line, pastors preach against taking alcohol and I totally support that.

Even if masturbation was never mentioned as a sin, we should know that addiction to it just like any other addiction is not right but calling the act a sin is the issue I have.

Many people will still come here to call it a sin BECAUSE THEY THINK IT IS...is that not foolishness?
