Please, I urgently need your insight on this.

Got my first gig on my UK Upwork account yesterday. I delivered the gig yesterday and the client commented that his publisher loved it...The proofreading was well done and in time

Well, my trouble right now is that I got a read from Upwork saying I need to confirm my identity by doing a video call and providing some documents...Obviously, I can't do all these, since, I'm still a Nigerian with a virtual UK citizenship

I'm to collect about $70 for the gig. I'm yet to receive any info about payment.

Do you advise I redirect the client to an external payment platform off Upwork or what can be done here?

So, yesterday while I was working on a project, I received a message from UpWork that my account had been suspended. Why? I was informed I had sent too many unsuccessful connects (proposal). The mail highlighted that they don't take such issue quite lightly, however, I might appeal the decision if I have good reasons. [ The mata con be like UK Visa process].

Gbese! I thought to myself as I'd just landed my first job on Upwork and the client was doing some back and forth with me.

I mailed them, appealing the case on the basis that I'd just secured my first contract and I was in the bit to update my skills.

Well, I woke up this morning reading that my account has been reactivated and I can continue my operations.

Praise the Lord!

P.S: It's a Nigerian account.

The SoThink crack was asking for it, I downloaded it but it's still the same. I have even uninstalled the whole file, deleted the folder in the program files and reinstalled, all to no avail.

Please work me through the procedure...Need to get it running.

Great! Was pretty worried for Nigerian businesses that had their websites hosted on that platform.

My thought was to query what industry regulators were up to in salvaging the situation, and thankfully, a word from NIRA.

This act by DomainKing further puts a dent on Nigerian hosting companies...Even WhoGoHost misbehaves like they don't have a mind of their own.

Domainking.ng is currently having serious issues and it seems it has caught the attention of the Nigerian internet Association NIRA. you would recall that the domain has was recently taken down by them. Well it seems the host has also shut them down too. There has also been a disturbing issue about their arrest in india.

If you are currently stucked with domainking, you might have to move on and restore your back up on another host. If you have domains on domainking which needs to be transfered to other registrars, just send a mail to admin@nira.org.ng and they'll help you out.

But this below is the official statement released yesterday(27th) by NIRA.

INABILITY OF DOMAINKING.NG TO RENDER SERVICE TO ITS CLIENTS
NIGERIA INTERNET REGISTRATION ASSOCIATION

Since 8th February 2017, an India based .ng ccTLD Accredited Registrar, DomainKing.ng, has not responded to escalated support queries and emails from its clients forwarded to it by the .ng Registry. The Registry had attempted severally since then and is still trying to contact this registrar via email, telephone, their online support system, social media platforms and postal services. 24th January 2017 was the last time this Registrar responded to the Registry via email.

Failing to respond to the .ng Registry is a breach of the Registrar Agreement DomainKing.ng signed with the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA). Also DomainKing.ng’s failure to respond to its registrants is in breach of the obligation a Registrar owes its registrants.

Some of the complaints via emails and phone calls from the clients of DomainKing.ng borders on payments made via the DomainKing.ng website/platform without service being rendered by DomainKing.ng

Whilst considering the plight of existing DomainKing.ng clients, the .ng Registry had taken a protective measure to ensure that the DomainKing.ng platform is temporarily not available for more Nigerians to make further payments. Further sanctions will be applied against DomainKing.ng by 2nd May 2017 should the company not reactivate/ attend/ respond to queries/ complaints raised by the registrants.

NiRA has sought legal advice and continues to consult its solicitors as events unfold on the matter.

Bearing in mind that NiRA is not a hosting company, efforts are on to attend to the various complaints on domain name management services rendered by Domainking.ng.

First, Deji left to start TV360 and later on got a contract with CCTV. He's the Lagos correspondent, I suppose.

I am almost thinking that Sulaiman will toll Deji's path by setting up a Media/TV outfit with a bias for the online space whilst doing loads of stringing with international platforms.

All these moves might not be unconnected to 2019 so as to strategically position himself and his company for the days ahead.

Make a comparison of Channel's performance to other A-list stations in South Africa, Kenya... and see what I am talking about. Compare technicality, compare quality, compare content, compare presentation and presenter, et al.

How many Nigerian TV journalists have won international awards, particularly in investigative journalism? Leave all these their press release, press conference and PR journalism.

Well, they have a staff bus, so most of them don't drive.

They provide meals for their staffs.

The working condition are cool and the training and exposure on the Job is one to envy. Yes, my aunt cousin nephew father works there (So don't ask)

World over, journalism isn't a wealth plunging adventure. It's a social service that guarantees your basic needs, however, I can tell you for free that those guys you saw are not as impoverished as you've perceived...Cling on to the environment and you'll learn that they're at the mid-level of the social ladder and a moderated lifestyle is what they live.

You may be right though on this. I was there weeks ago for an interview. I can tell you that the working condition is a no go area whereas no sign of good living around the place! The workers don't look satisfied. Saw very few cars in their parking space. Menh, no sign of luxury there at all.

ChannelsTV has the best employee package amongst Nigerian TV stations. Aside that, their branding and organisational prestige is tight and the best in this clime.

These points are valid...And just to think of the price is the ridiculous dimension, but one is quite optimistic it gets better with time.

BTW, it was a custom order which he accepted even before the recording started. [Guess he pays to Fiverr before service as escrow].

My concern is his deafening silence as he was on me like every 30minutes to deliver the gig ASAP. Now he's gotten and gravely on mute.

He hasn't initiated any cancellation move (guess I'll receive such notification) and I guess Fiverr will mark it completed after 3 days...Shebi I'll collect my money after this? *Now thinking about his review.

Hey there, first, we offer the same gig. Your situation is quite precarious! Because, this is your first gig. And your buyer seems to have phantom hearing issue.

I can say I have experienced almost all kinds or types of buyers.. even this one.

What I normally do is to weigh how much is at stake. Because, as you know, in our job, we spend a great deal of time cooking up stuff in the studio, and for how much - $5

So, I get to compare the amount of time I had expended on that order, and getting everything to perfection, with the excuse of my buyer. Only for a boss-wanna-be buyer to think he can order me around?

1. Send the same audio file agin, telling him you have removed the noise.

2. Or Tell him, the order is perfect. And so he should accept and pay you the money. Unless he wants you to report him to the admin for not wanting to pay for a service delivered.

3. Never accept cancellation

Anyway, I reworked the recording and sent again.

Since yesterday, the guy hasn't said anything either about the new audio file or finalising the project....What do you advise I do?

One of the most confusing things about Fiverr is the Buyer's Request.

We're told it's for buyers to request offers from freelancers. But sometimes you see some other people (sellers/freelancers) post their gigs or offers there and they get offers...Like the guy in the image below.

I tried posting my own gig too sometime back, I received a warning that the feature wasn't meant for sellers and I could be banned. I think there's a discrimination.

Anyone got a better explanation to this?

The first sentence of his description reads "I am a young man who passion for writing and editing."

His English Proficiency level is 'Basic', yet he wants to edit and proofread English-worded documents...Great!

On ratings, his gig charges $10 for the proofreading of 500 words, and $25 for 1,000 words. [Thought there should be some discount, this one na upcount] .

Meanwhile, most level two professionals in this niche still charge $5 for 1,000. Some folks still charge $5 for 5,000 words.

Anyway, Fiverr na OMO [Open Market], you can whatever you like...All the best brov!
