Of course Damiso, there are exceptions to every rule. If you have been "fortunate" enough to come across fantastic female bosses and colleagues, I say good for you.

BUT, it is harder to work with most women. They tend to carry their issues and baggage around and you get to hear comments like "this woman needs to get laid".

The problem with your friend and many other Nigerians is that they are completely ambivalent to the workings of the organizations they claim to belong. It cannot take me a month to know whether an organization is worthwhile and it is certainly not up to us onlookers to determine if he should continue. His success is entirely up to him. If I were him these are the questions I would ask myself. What are the prospects of the company. Is it earning income or not and does it have the potentials. Are there management problems. Are there issues with sales. Is is suffering from excessive competition. Are its products seasonal, expired, outdated or irrelevant. There are many factors to consider. Your friends' position in the Company, how much influence he has, the organizational structure and his relationship with his boss or bosses.

If he has no influence, no internal relationships and the Company is the typical one-man, socialist enterprise, then that's a complete sham, he's in real trouble and should leave promptly but on the other hand if the Company has potentials and he can communicate them effectively, he should pull up his socks as it can be a potential goldmine for him. I've seen people take the reins in similar situations and have driven themselves into management positions.

Spare sometime, do some after work work, research the company, its products or services and see what you can do personally to drive them then propose it to your clueless boss and don't just be a 9 - 5 statistic.

As Madoba has said, men & women are wired differently and until everyone understands that, the battle of the sexes would remain strong.
Women aren't just terrible bosses/colleagues, they are terrible friends, terrible customers and terrible everything.
Who cares if you are suffering from PMS or whatever, once you are at work all dose other things should take a back burner and your professionalism face should be brought out.
If you are emotionally disturbed or whatever, take a sick leave. It's a sickness.

I subscribe to Madoba's point of view that training on professionalism should be conducted at the beginning of employment. A lot of these issues come up because people assume that your colleagues as work should be "officially" bothered if anything is wrong. Things like that should be saved for out of work hours.

Well, I can't argue with the mother and grandmother part but that's a worldwide trend. Obesity is on the rise due to change in lifestyle basically and it affects both sexes. The female more because we have a natural tendency to store fat.

With lifestyle change though, most people can get trim bodies.

Yeah I agree Nigerian girls do tend to lug around fat tummies even the skinny ones. I ascribe it to the following:
1. Once we reach puberty, the female body tends to store fat in some certain areas and that is what is responsible for all the bo0bies and buttts that you guys love.

3. Zero exercise culture

These kinda pictures are nothing new to Lagos and it will remain so for a couple of reasons.

1. In this day and age, people still empty their trash into the gutter when it rains
2. The drainage system on our roads is almost non existent
3. People STILL build houses in places that waterways should be (who allocates the land?)
4. We sandfill everywhere all in the name of a mega city
