tuniski: Total external borrowings so far and to the extent nat.assembly has given approval may not be more than 5bn Usd. Remove it from the savings made in recent time about 16bn Usd (23 - 40), you will have a net of 11bn usd. Mind you this borrowings are not to settle recurrent expenses. They are for capital projects and some of them self liquidating. Mind you also that the savings will keep increasing while any capital project done now will not need to be done again . |

tuniski: The revenue the country was getting during that period was small. He was able to manage it. No federal public servant was sacked, people were employed ( eg police,s firs, ) 200,000 people taken up in Npower and paid 30k stipend per month, federal civil servants were not owed. Yet he was able to make money available to bail out states. Inflation, exchange rate and unemployment are all consequences of over dependence on imports. What determines exchange rate amongst other factors is the demand and supply of a country's currency. Many nigerians are looking for dollar to import, school abroad, medical trip etc. The more we seek this dollar, the costlier it will always be. The most important thing is the stability of the exchange rate. If we had good schools, good hospitals, strong manufacturing base etc. we may not have need for dollar and we can decide to pay 100 for a dollar. Alternatively the Govt. can decide to give out the dollars we have in our reserve to all manner of importers to make everybody happy. But remember in the long run we will be creating employment for other nations, we will not have anything to keep for the future generation, etc. For me it is better we suffer temporarily now, make sacrifices for the future now that we have a Govt. that is not outstandingly corrupt like PDP. |

For me, pmb has done relatively well. We need to support him. Yes some commodities like rice etc were cheaper during Gej period because they were imported. Imported commodities sometimes are cheaper because they have better technology and access to capital. But that is not the way to go as a country. We need to grow our own food and be productive to generate employment. We dont need to spend all our forex on importing everything without making savings for the future generation. |

people are just making noise over this issue without getting the direction from which Adesina was coming from. People have said the benue killings presently is happening becos pmb is fulani. That he is providing support for his people. Then came the question, why were more killings in 2yrs during Gej time ? Was he a fulani too?. Adesina is saying that not withstanding these, this Govt. is going to provide a lasting solution to this. Suggesting , i will say let there be ban on open grazing. If you want to go into rearing of cow, look for land and buy and keep your cows there. Secondly those states are under policed. 2 Likes 1 Share |

politics aside, Nigeria has witnessed so many killings especially in the north. I remember when igbos used to be slaughtered in Kano, kaduna etc, at the slightest provocation. In the eighties it used to be between the tivs of venue state and Jukuns of present taraba state. Many were killed in that conflict. Southern Kaduna conflict had been from time immemorial. During Babangida regime there was serious massacre of people in Kaduna that one Gen Lekwot of southern Kaduna was sentenced to death, alleged as the mastermind of the killings. God being kind to him ,Abacha pardoned him. Sometime in 2014 over 500 people were massacred in plateau state, even a serving senator was killed too. I lived in benue state for over ten years and I can tell you for free that what they call villages there are just inhabited by 10 - 20 families in the midst of vast grass land. It takes over 1 - 2hrs to go from these villages to the nearest police station. This makes it difficult for security personnel to respond to emergencies. some of these places that have telephone network to communicate easily. In my opinion I will say that the country is under policed especially in the north. Though their population density is far less that places in the south, but they are widely spaced and prone to attack. Let us collectively proffer solutions instead passing blames. |

PMB anyday. He has managed affairs well within the constraint of resources and antagonism of the corrupt elites |
![]() |
As far as am concerned, PMB has done very well. He has been faithful in the little we have. He was able to manage Nigeria in the time we had nothing ( revenue wise). He never owed federal workers any day. He made effort to make employment into fed. MDAs. He helped states to ensure that states paid salaries. At the time we had near Zero FX for imports, he was able to provide local substitute ( eg local rice production etc) . He has increased foreign reserve - making provision for the future generation. Even with the little so far, we can see some level of infrastructural devt. in all geopolitical zone. He has out of little been giving 30k directly to over 200,000 young nigerians. I can go on and on. PMB to me has done well and deserve our support. 2 Likes 1 Share |

kingphilip:0 Every budget estimate is constrained by revenue made by Govt. that year. it is like you promising to buy your children bicycle next month based on money you expected will come. When it was time the money did not come. 5 Likes |

OP has forgotten that pmb will never allow the massive rigging that happen in Rivers state, Delta state and all SE in 2015. Then he had no base in these areas . It was incidence form everywhere . In 2019 the game will be different , such huge figures from SS and SE will not be again. Remember our people hardly see any need to come out and vote. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Are they centralizing or decentralising it? i thought they were clamouring for restructing? |
![]() |
under the condition APC found themselves, i strongly believe they have tried. The only people crying daily are the looters who have been cut to size. True, initially things were difficult but recently there has been improvement. PMB have fought alot of battles to bring us to where we are today. 1 he fought those that wanted to ensure that govt. had zero income from crude oil 2.he fought those that wanted to disorganise the fx market by buying up and hoarding all dollars 3. He fought and overcame oil marketers who stopped to import petrol in order to cause confusion. 4 presently he is fighting the senators who have vowed to cause problem for the nation because there is no free money to share. There is hope and i wish PMB quick recovery 1 Like |

luxy44: My brother I just quoted kanu's usual assertion. so I was wondering what he was doing with fayose. Or has the Biafran ideology changed? Or is it the case of the enemy of my enemy? |

this IPOB people should not allow this struggle to be politicised. Kanu said it on several occasions that Biafra will never have anything to do Yoruba. That they are backstabbers, deceivers etc 29 Likes |

The only hope S/eastener's have of presiding over this country is if pmb completes his 8yr term alive. If anything untoward happens and osibanjo takes over, the Yoruba's will keep it for 8yrs (use the opportunity to fortify their territory economically) and will definitely hand over to the north afterwards. My SE brothers let us be wise. Let us all pray for pmb, he is not doing badly. Things have to be like this now for us to enjoy in future. Everybody is against him because tough decisions are being taken, looters are being prevented from doing what they know best. It does not cost pmb anything to open the national treasury and throw dollars around, open the border for all manner of things to come in. In the long run, the country will suffer it. Let's have faith in Nigeria, things can only get better. |

I pray he remains alive at least to complete this term and another good leader elected through the ballot. |

everybody is entitled to his/her opinion. For me pmb has done well within the circumstances he found himself. For an opposition party to take power for the first time is not that easy. the masses who have been patient with him knows he is making genuine efforts to repositioning Nigerian economy, though they are bound to be some genuine mistakes too. The former party in power (with her affluent Members) set so many traps for pmb to make him fail but we thank God today that we are overcoming. I always for good health for him to remain till 2019 and if possible re-contest for another term. It is the corrupt elites in our society that are crying and I wish they cry more. |

Why all these long talk. This can only be achieved by a constitutional review by the national assembly and supported by two - third majority of the state houses of assembly. The presidency does not even have the power to do this. If Atiku is really serious about this restructure, he should channel his energy towards lobbying the national assembly to review the constitution in this regard. |

me69: Why are you comparing Nigeria with Russia for God's sake? most of these countries over the years used there oil wealth to develop their country (build good schools, hospitals, roads, housing, manufacturing entities etc). so whatever the situation, you will never see them running around looking for FX to travel outside their country for schooling, hospital, importation of -rice,toothpick, shoes etc. Our Government failed over the year's to put any of these things down for us. rather they stole every thing and took them to other people's country not even investing any part of it in this country 1 Like |

If you like protest from now till next year, nothing will change. dollar is scarce and the demand for it is high so the price will continue to go up. we must produce locally what we need and leave dollar alone. Nigerians! be wise |

Tomorrow he will still shout that budget implementation is just 30%. So how does he expect a 30% implemented budget to meet this computer purchase requirement. 1 Like |

[quote author=Acidosis post=45528976] How do you know Nigeria is broke?[/quote I know that Nigeria is broke because we were managing as a country (not meeting developmental needs) when oil (our only source of income) was above 100 dollar per baŕrel and now that it is below 40 dollars we ought to be worse off |
![]() |
This decision is the best PMB could have taken. Nigeria can not afford to continue paying subsidy. Nigeria is presently broke in addition to the high dollar-naira exchange rate. People condemned GEJ then because nigeria had so much during his tenure that could have built more refineries and make nigeria not to depend on imported petrol. 1 Like |

Pdp caused all these power problems we are facing today. The source of this gas is in Delta ,bayelsa, rivers states etc, yet they went and built the power plants in Ogun, Ondo states etc. And each day we face challenges of sabotage of the pipeline. |

Amanwulu1: Who did FGN- pdp pay the minimum wage to? The one they paid ghost federal staff (they paid themselves? |

Before JEG came in our foriegn reserve was even in excess of 47 billion USD. Instead of growing it, he depleted to 30 and finished all that accrued to the country during his tenor. So I ask all of you, did he leave any thing before he left? |

locosis007: My brother, conviction is not in the hands of PMB. It is the judiciary that will convict. |

Why are pdp agents not calling on PMB to probe Uduagan of delta and T.a orji of abia who stole their states blind? PMB has no business with state issues (if you have any take it to efcc, icpc, cct or police). PMB is only trying to get all stolen federal Govt. Monies and in this case the culprits are majorly pdp members. 2 Likes |

Whatever you people say, I still prefer GMB leadership to GEJ; WHY? 1. One can clearly understand why there is scarcity of petrol now. there is acute shortage of forex for importers to bring in refined product. 2.During GEJ tenure, oil was selling over 100 dollars now it is about 30 dollars 3.Presently, it is only NNPC that is struggling to ensure Nigerians have adequate supply by making our refineries work and managing the scarce forex to import. 4. There was a major sabbotage of a major supply trunk to one of the major refinery (and once it's fixed will enhance supply). We have to endure some time of suffering as government is doing its best to fix our petrol supply challenges 4 Likes |

Let's give this government a chance. They will perform definitely, we all know the cause of the present challenge facing the government. The fall in the price of oil is the major factor here. Government earnings have dropped significantly. Before this Government, petrol availability was 99% import. No refinery worked. Now importers can no longer import because of shortage of forex. The only way we can have adequate supply of petrol is if we have local refining capacity and that is what the present government is trying to do. Government is surely going to make it happen, all they need is support and prayers. Our leadership is good now and in the near future things will be made right. Thank you all nigerians |

You. Were not scammed. Firstbank sold at high price maybe because they sourced the dollar at high price too. You can only get it at the official price if you are buying the dollar from CBN. |
