nedu2000: Isn't it suppose to be a comedy?!!adults acting as pupils is funny if you ask me.....I disagree with the Brown dude
i guess it is open to different interpretation of what is regarded as funny. Some culture will not find a grown up man wearing a child's uniform funny. However for the majority of people in Nigeria, this sort of thing is regarded as funny.
I think its silly and a lack of creativity on the part of the director, producer and writers.
Same old same old yeye script and acting. Thats why i've not seen a Nigerian movie in donkey yearsssssssssssssssssssssssss undecided

Is this ok or acceptable in Nigeria. As i type this i noticed the quoted comment had over 50likes. Now this is SHOCKING.
IT IS WRONG TO GRIND AGAINST ANYONE AGAINST THEIR WILL OR WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION. This is sexu al abuse, it is unacceptable. GOSH. I cant believe what i am seeing on this thread. You think this is ok and you go to church on Sunday?

BusinessRe: GTBank Customer Humiliation by touchmeder: 8:35pm On Oct 15, 2013
toptop: @poster, why is it that it is only in the banks that Nigerians expect perfect service? Every other service provider fails to meet your expectation and you dont shout blue murder. The next thing is that you will want staff to be sacked, so that you will be satisfied. Where as you are in your own service corner messing up. In this case, you are wrong. Why should you come to the bank with your bike? Stop crying fowl where there is no harm. Be careful and repent.
Nairaland nor go kill me. What does fowl have to do with this matter? What role does repentance play sef?? Nigerians are too funny jare grin cheesy cheesy grin
BusinessRe: GTBank Customer Humiliation by touchmeder: 8:11pm On Oct 15, 2013
I was at the GT Bank today (OAU, ILE-IFE branch) to deposit a sum of money. I went with a private bike to the bank. It has been continually emphasized that public bikes are not allowed at the bank’s car park (although no symbolic indication there). On this day, I was about parking this bike of mine on the slab as I use to do
Poor customer care and the harsh environment in Nigeria is responsible for alot of rubbish people go through. Fancy people coming here and telling op HE IS WRONG, HE IS WRONG. I dont blame most of the people who hold this opinion, you dont know any better. Neither do most Nigerians know the right a customer has or how he/she ought to be treated. Did you read the story very very wellhuh His bike is a PRIVATE ONE obviously so many people are skipping that bit (how una pass JAMB)
That said, op perhaps you should have ironed things out abit with the security man before walking away (i only say this because it is the proper thing to do. You dont know if a new rule came out that morning as to the number of bikes that can be parked within the premises or whether there is a new spot for a 2nd bike etc). I feel the manager should have acted promptly and properly in any case. We dont know how to appreciate customers in Nigeria. The fact it is a customer who banks there, without him you dont have a damn job, you should at least form concerned and let the security man release the bike. At that point, the security man or manager can chip in ''thats not the spot where bikes are parked in case of next time etc''. Simple courtesy from all parties concerned. Remember ''customer is always .......
Op dont pay a penny to get that bike back. Pursue this case to the latter, the least you will get is your bike intact. Some folks are about to lose their job. You watch

Ada Nri1: I do not think Genevieve should be on that list. Back in 2004 when I was still an undergrad student my roomate managed to get her number and called her. My roomate regretted that call.
She said Genevieve asked her how she got the number and why she is still jobless when her mates were already earning money. I can't remember all the insult she got from that phone call, but I think Genny may have been quite rude because my roomate fumed over it for days.
Your room mate was VERY WRONG and that behavior is bothering on being stalkish . You dont just get a call from a stranger and pretend its ok and proceed to chat your head off. THINK if everyone of her fan called her all day, HOW WOULD LIFE BE FOR HERhuh

That said, i dont think Genevieve is humble. lipsrsealed

Each to their own.unless ur husband is earning a lot such mission will be suicidal in Nigeria. I will always advise that a woman in Nigeria should have a career or a business she does.life is too tough at home and men are so unpredictable.you want to be standing on your own feet in case a man or his family acts funny.as for the kids God that gave them to you will protect. On your part be vigilant and prayerful.leave nothing to chance, send them to good schools, educate them on sex education and general awareness,be close to them so they WILL open up to you, pray with them,go to church together. Please do your bit and lift those kids to God let him do the rest. Nor b person I know when im teenage cousin molest? That was a university undergraduate on holiday o. edwonderz: it was between 1am and everywhere was still luminous because of the 24hrs uninterrupted power supply they have in those countries, some shops were still open and we were still sober, sticking to our agreement before one chap rolled towards our direction with his mobile tea shop. We called him and every one of us bought and we all drank a cup of hot nescafé.
However, to my deepest surprise, none of us is able to recall what happened after a cup of nescafé, we don't even know how we all slept off at the same time and was unconscious while the little rat parted with some of our valuables.
I am astonished up till this moment. It was our drivers that woke us up in the morning and we started asking ourselves what happened. Lol! perhaps that's part of the adventure.

Moral lesson: Be careful of all these borders especially at night and don't eat any how food from any how person even if you are starving.
Au-revoir.
Wow you guys DRANK SOMETHING AND ALL SLEPT. That is just shocking honestly shocked The soldiers may have been part of it too. SHOCKING!

Wow Op thanks for this thread. It was a fantastic read i must confess. I have a glimpse of West Africa through your eyes and i feel like traveling myself. I cant believe the thread has been on since September and i only came across it today thanks to ''front page things'' i would have missed it. I also think you are a fantastic writer and i enjoyed the stories of your class mates at Togo (although it would seem one or two people got bored)
I love traveling and experiencing new cultures but i doubt if i can brave it on my own like you did. I got some questions for you if you dont mind.
Have you traveled to any of these countries before?
How much would you say you roughly spent on your trip? You dont have to be exact a rough estimate would do.
How many countries did you travel to in total?

nice write up Mr.tonye, but d issue with nysc u mentioned in ur initial post,I never heard of it before, maybe it's peculiar to ur school...In fact I know of a graduate of lasu who got admitted through direct entry and currently seeing out his service year in bauchi.. To all those asking why he choose to remain in the north, all i will say is hush and let him be. This are personal decision people never take lightly. he must have thought long and hard and yet choose to remain there. In a country like Nigeria, if you have looked for work long and hard and get absorbed into a Federal parastatal or a very good private company (where your job is secured for life and you get a good pension) and after a while they post you to the north, nine out of ten times you will go. You will not quit that job and leave all your benefits and YOU know it. You are most likely not to quit especially if you are the man and are the major bread winner or even the only one bringing home the bacon. So please don't judge him. RIP doctor

Goke7: I can relate to what Teju is saying there, I lost my dad two years ago, I checked MIC online and called their number, this man was the one who picked the call, I never knew he was the CEO cos he was so humble and down to earth in his communication with me, he sent his employee chijioke who also died in that crash to my office with catalogues of the various services they offer, even when I was not pleased with the ones he brought, he sent chijioke two more times to my office until I was satisfied with the what I wanted, I went to their office to make payment, wao this man [Mr Okusanya] gave me a very generous discount with all his smiles, laughter and charming personality, wao He is a rare gem.

On the day of my dad's burial, his guys were on time almost waiting for me at the morgue where my dad was, the hearse[car ambulance] I payed for was for a normal Benz car but this man directed his guys to bring a Jeep instead far more than what I actually paid for. He could not make it down for My dad's burial but the next day after the burial, this man gave me a call asking me how everything went and I was short of words appreciating him.

In summary, He is a businessman per excellence of the highest standard, if most businessmen in Nigeria are like him, Our country will be a better place to live, what breaks my heart is know that his son also died with him and am worried if his business legacy can continue.

Rest in peace Mr Okusanya you've touched and blessed many lives including me

alienware: It was all over the news yesterday that the star actor jim iyke was delivered from demonic oppression, which has prevented the guy from loving a particular woman and committing fully to any relationship. According to eyewitness and video's posted on youtube .The demon in him said " i don't want him to get married" ask yourself, is there anything special about getting married ? Was jesus christ married when he was on planet earth ? Christ was about 42 years when he was cruxified, yet he remained single.
There remains something fishy about SCOAN thats all i know. Before i get carried away i always tell myself (regardless of whatever flamboyant pastor is saying or whoever is having deliverance sessions) ITS ALL ABOUT JESUS ITS ALL TO THE GLORY OF GOD. IF ANY MAN PREACHES ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE GOSPEL THEN I DONT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON.
I still dont know why people try to take the glory for their performance or watch seemingly spiritual manifestation and only then mutter ''JESUS IS LORD'' and i still dont understand why deliverance sessions are made for public viewing like a market scene. Dont say its to make me love and trust God more because i do already. lipsrsealed

Isn't it ironic?
We have lost way sooooooooooooooooooooooo many people in Nigeria through this boko haram.
Who are these people? Is Nigeria the only country in the world where muslims are indigenes too. Dont we have muslims in Ghana, Niger, and the rest of the world. Are we holier that the folks in Saudi Arabia? Is that how they kill their brothers and sisters to keep education out. Does that even make sense? In the churches, in the car parks, in schools, police head quarters you name it. In Kenya they lost how many and the world was agog with the news. It made me really sad, it seems in Nigeria we have gotten used to the Boko Haram headache. They kill so many people then we complain so hard and move on with our lives like its not human beings we have lost. Why would this group not be dealt with once and for allhuh

Coming up at the 10th position of the Forbes rating, how did you feel?
I don’t believe very much in such things. Let’s be honest, the real wealthy people are the businessmen like Dangote and the politicians (some of whom got there by looting Nigeria). They’re the ones with real money. This entertainment business is too much hype. It is more fame than fortune. So I’m not thrilled to it and I don’t think any of us should buy into it too much. I’d rather be wealthy and quiet than famous and broke.
Very very true. All that glitters is not gold. You will be shocked these celebrities you see on blogs and red carpets everyday. When push comes to shove or say something like treating an ailment, they begin rally around for money. Most of those guys live for the now, they dont invest.

You are not even done with undergrad??! Oh well, if you are scared that he'll leave, maybe you should think about transferring to another school closer to your new home.
In Nigeria? yeah right grin
Poster why the big rush? Its not so easy especially when you begin having the kids. You gonna think logistics. Its not like you are in the same town with your husband to be. So you dont have a situation where you finish from classes then you drive home and await your husband.
You gonna think this one through big time. Do you intend to have children ASAP (most Nigerians expect this to happen almost immediately no dulling)
Do you stay off campus or in the hostel? You may want to move off campus and have someone to help take care of the baby while you are in school, unless you will leave the child at home for your parents or inlaw
Are you mobile on campus?
how well would you cope with tests, exams, late classes, reading at night etc with a baby in tow or pregnancy?

good news is that its been done already so if you choose to go ahead, there is grace available. Just think it through properly. goodluck
