nuzo:sorry at your bitterness then. I fully sympathize with you. However, you only have one life to live. You can spend it being bitter. |
the average Nigerian needs to wake up, smell the coffee and know where its at. the leaders are a reflection of the people. True change starts from the individual attitude. AAs who complain all the time about white discrimniation, tend to remain in the ghetto. Not to say there's no color discrimination, but constant complaining while refusing to accept your own faults, keeps you down. |
I wonder oh. As if the sky will fall down, with every issue. naija this naija that. But mention their hometowns or religious leaders, and they breathe fire and get all sensitive and hurt. The collective and proverbial blind spot. |
no wonder. |
I was wondering about the number of wives he had, since its quite unusual for a Nigerian leader to have only one wife. So this is the other family? In any case, whoever posted these pictures on the internet, is a very wicked person, for setting the boy up like that. He's only 12, for goodness sake. What does he know? And its extremely bad taste to get at a man through his kids. Like these militants who are kidnapping young children and elderly citizens. Whoever took the photos must be working for them. Rich kids in Nigeria (or anywhere) live rich, regardless if their parents made the money through their own hard work or by looting public funds. Yaradua was rich before becoming president, abeg. Whoever took these pictures (especially the one with the rifle) should be prosecuted. |
JeSoul:oh boy, you should have seen that thread. ![]() |
so, madamkoko, tell me, if you were the governor of Lagos state (or any state anywhere), what would be your actions? by the way, I'm sure much of the bad publicity Nigeria gets from the media, is from Nigerians themselves who work there. There are Nigerians working at BBC and CNN. |
abi oh. ![]() am sure the military in various African countries are gearing up for D Day. |
JeSoul:actually, they threatened him again for "changing" key Islamic words like Muslim, Islam and Mohammed, saying he was disrespecting Islam. After that, he gave them their own forum. That particular thread was deleted, I think. @ topic: wasnt there a riot in Oshogbo recently, over the RUMOR that a doctor had bought a local mosque? |
the problem with far too many Nigerians is they have a limited worldview. They see things only from the layman's perspective, and not a leader's own. That's one major difference between whites and blacks, that I keep noticing. And this layman's opinion sometimes also carries over into the leaders themselves as well. Must we continue to have this persecution complex all the time? Everyone knows Lagos has a slum problem, yet now they are trying to fix it, folks are still complaining. We all see the pictures of flooded roads and overflowing gutters, yet we dont understand what it takes to correct these things. The main issue people should be wondering about and fighting for is adequate compensation for people whose houses were demolished. Port harcourt is also demolishing structures, in case no one noticed. Sometimes folks should realise when the media is trying to be mischievious. |
Ibime:you do know most of this is false, right? |
senseless topic full nairaland sha. @ osereka let us know are you the man of the house abi na your womanwho is this 419 person? ![]() |
It would be nice if Nigerians in diaspora could have somewhere they could migrate to permanently while the country tries to turn itself around. Like the Irish who left the country (for good) in the millions when things were looking bleak. After a while ireland was able to pull itself together and today is doing well. Its interesting to note the exodus of millions of irish citizens didnt affect the country negatively. In fact, right now they're having a problem with excessive immigration. Ireland, of all places. Who'd have thought it. Going back home isnt easy especially if you're used to the comfortable life abroad and arent ready or willing to inconvenience yourself. However, the world of today has shrunk, so its not like before. |
merry go round all over again. meanwhile, the rich on both sides of the conflict, are still getting richer. Business as usual while the foot soldiers die for the cause. Common sense is not common. |
people are wicked sha. see how they set up a 12 year old boy in order to make the father look bad. where did he get that gun, who took the picture and why did they post it on the web. The person needs to be queried. and who says a similar photo can't be made of the militants kids as well. Or would it be alright if the boy was Dokubo's son? this is very evil and sick. ![]() |
@ nuzo- you're so bitter. ![]() You can't lighten up even for one minute? na wa. You remind me of Atlas, in Greek mythology- carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. @ Folahann- watch Zathura or You Wish. |
haba- I was referring to shagari's post, not you. |
Prayer For Nigeria https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WA1se4HDmb0 hear my Cry O God Dont turn Your face away from me here's my heart oh God May Your love and mercy wash over me Take Your truth And let it be A river of love that flows through me Take these eyes And let them see The power to heal our land Come heal Our land |
you salute Mugabe, ehn? |
Ibime:come oh- that article I read from your other post, I don't agree with all the stuff there sha. The Yoruba/Egyptian material doesnt quite jell.As in , doesnt look too authentic. This Kumoni tribe is based on what evidence? Ndipe:That's classified as myths and legends. Most societies have those. The basic premise here is that Oduduwa was an actual person whose descendants were appointed kings over all the major Yoruba towns. There's plenty of oral tradition all over Yorubaland that substantiates this. |
haha. I guess virgins are getting scarce these days. With all these randy guys around, is it surprising. Demand wan exceed supply. ![]() |
No one living can categorically verify any legend. You need to do some independent research, even if its only via google, then ask questions to clarify what you read or heard. eg: Historical Relation Between Edo And Yoruba Culture And Politics https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-5002.0.html |
Joseph6:coming around to what? come- dem send you? Why you dey call my name for everywhere? of all the pointless threads on nairaland, I have to say this one is among the top ten. I fear to imagine what goes through your brain. |
are you a friend or foe of debosky? your tone sounds somehow. are you fighting him or you just want to know him better. |
huxley is tpaine? weird. Tpaine seems different from Huxley. |
What is the point of washing your hands before using the toilet? You'll dirty it again. Abeg, what is this? so you'll wash your hands before and not after? Duuuude, that's gross!!
you seem to have missed the entire point of the thread. What he is asking is: which is better to clean your butt with after shitting- water or toilet tissue. It isnt about washing your hands after doing the #2. |
skfa1:the user id is a fake moniker. the person is probably Yoruba or Igbo. |
bilymuse:look at the larger picture. There are millions of messages. ![]() |
I found nosamega's post very difficult to read because he didnt use any paragraphs, commas, or periods. ![]() Most of the people posting here are Bini. I guess few Yoruba people noticed the thread. And @ gigitte: Ile Ife does not mean House of Love. Ife can mean a lot of things. It could mean wide as well. ie a wide or large area. As far as I know, there has been little indepth research on Oduduwa's origins. All most people know is that he came from the east- either Saudi Arabia, or somewhere else in the middle east. The official history says his father was killed by Islamists, and Oduduwa himself migrated out with his followers rather than convert to Islam. Dont know how accurate this version is. Personally, I think there may be a Sudanese link between either Oduduwa or the original settlers he met when he arrived in western Nigeria. The Bini claims that he was a prince from Edo, isnt too clear, really. Especially in the absence of concrete evidence. Though one has to wonder why Oduduwa's son was sent to Benin to rule there. That shows some prior interaction between the Yorubas and Binis. little bit about him on wiki: Oduduwa, phonetically written as Odùduwà, and sometimes contracted as Odudua, Oòdua, is generally held among the Yoruba to be the ancestor of the crowned Yoruba kings. Oral history of the Oyo-Yoruba recount the coming of Oduduwa from the east, sometimes understood by Muslim sources as the "vicinity" or direction of Mecca, but more likely signifying the region of Ekiti and Okun sub-ethnics in northeastern Yorubaland/central Nigeria. A strong theory among the Yoruba is that Oduduwa came from the region of Egypt or Nubia and may have been fleeing from religious persecution or invasion. Oduduwa is presumed to have entered the Ekiti-Yoruba and Okun-Yoruba region. This region is near the confluence of the Niger and Benue rivers, and is where the Yoruba language is presumed to have separated from related ethno-linguistic groups like Igala, Igbo, and Edo. Most importantly is that King Oduduwa was one of the founding rulers of the kingdom of Ife in 1100 CE. The kingdom of Ife is the original Yoruba kingdom and thus all crowned Yoruba kings claim descent from this historic figure. The Ife oral traditions, on the other hand, tell that Odùduwà was the son of the supreme god Olodumare or Olorun, and was sent by him from heaven to create the earth. (Another version of this myth ascribes these episodes to Obatala, casting Oodua, as an usurper). Descending from the heavens via a chain let down to Ile Ife, Obatala brought with him a cockeral, a pigeon, and a calabash full of dirt. After throwing the soil upon the waters, he set the cockeral and pigeon on the pile of dirt who, in turn, scratched and scattered it around to create the rest of dry land that became the Earth's surface. Odùduwà subsequently became one of the first kings of Ife, and then sent his sons out with crowns to rule over all of the other Yorùbá kingdoms, which is why all royal Yorùbá lineages claim direct descent from Odùduwà and refer to the Ooni of Ife as first among equals (popularly rendered in the Latin phrase primus inter pares in Nigeria). Ile Ife continues to be considered the spiritual capital of the Yoruba.,, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oduduwa |
The thieves must have received so many curses from their victims till date. Lets see if this latest round of cursing will make a difference. |

. Ah ah I thot they liked the fact he was censoring our posts and automatically changing "mohammed" to "the great prophet" and "islam" to "the great religion" etc . . . oh so they weren't happy, is that why Seun changed things back to normal? I've been wondering since I started seeing those full words again . . .
true as can be. We were banned from posting anything that "disrespected" islam or muhammed. The result was Seun then creating a "special" forum for islam and muslims only . . . you see the link ontop the religion page abi?
