funny how olabawale is always in the Christian section, ostensibly "preaching".

what do you call it when someone finds himself irresistibly attracted to something or someone but will never admit that he has a "thing" for the person?

Olabawale, keep pretending you're always in the Christian section mainly to "preach".

One day the scales will fall from your eyes and you'll stop running from your desire to be a Christian.

You're fooling no one but yourself.

Well American with their eyes wide open chose to be Americansno one chose to become a Nigerian, unless you knew what I don't. You haven't heard that Nigeria is a country but not a nation, until those called Nigerians chose to become Nigerians, stop expecting the God bless American sing song for Nigeria.
What Do I wish Nigeria?

- Drive Hausa Fulani and their cousins into the sahara desert upward to Somalia where they comes from
- Send back the their neighbours- the Yorubas back to Egypt or wherever they claim Oduduwa come out from
- Throw Niger Deltan across the Atlantic to disappear
- Send the Igbos back Jerusalem via Ethiopia
-And may the person whose idea brought about Nigeria never rest in peace.

Then what a peaceful remainder! You can hear the tranquility
see the kind of weirdness people are turning into in the name of being anti-Nigerian.

so who occupies the region called Nigeria, in the event every single Nigerian is sent to these places you mention. Places where the owners will probably dump you in the sahara desert anyway. Illegal immigrant wey wan take over another man's country.

I'd personally wish for five more wishes. One would be to grant Nigerians common sense.

PoliticsRe: Animals Do Not Turn Into Human Beings: Ok? by tpia: 8:38pm On Aug 07, 2008
@ Dr Kitaun

what explains someone telling u that he's got some funny objects crawling in his body ?   any takers to explain that scientifically ?
Formication is a somewhat unusual, but medically well-known, abnormal sensation. This sensation closely resembles the feeling of insects crawling on and/or under the skin, and can also include sensations which resemble those of insects stinging or biting. There are many known causes of formication.

The word is derived etymologically from the Latin word formica, meaning "ant", precisely because of this similarity in sensation to that of crawling insects.

Formication is a specific form of the general set of abnormal skin sensations known as paresthesia, and thus it is related to the sensation known as "pins and needles", and other tingling sensations.

Some people suffering the sensation of formication find it to be annoying, others find it painful, and some find it itchy. Those who find it to be itchy may in some cases repeatedly scratch themselves until they bleed, causing skin damage and sores. (In the subset of cases where the sufferer is delirious or intoxicated because of high fever, substance abuse, or extreme alcohol withdrawal, this repeated scratching is very common indeed.)

Formication can on occasion lead to people becoming fixated on the sensation and its possible meaning, and these people may develop delusional parasitosis. This is a situation where individuals are convinced that there are real insects crawling on and/or under their skin, whereas in reality there are no insects involved, just a crawling sensation. It is fairly easy to misunderstand the significance and causality of the "creepy crawly" sensation of formication.

Causes

Causes of formication include medical conditions such as diabetic neuropathy, skin cancer, or herpes zoster as well as normal states such as menopause (i.e. hormone withdrawal). Formication can also sometimes be experienced during high fevers. Itching, tingling and formication ("the creeps"wink often occur when surfacing from a dive or during ascent to altitude (decompression sickness).

It can be a rare side effect of many prescription drugs such as Ritalin, Adderall and Lunesta.

In addition, formication can be caused by the withdrawal component of substance abuse. It is a common side-effect of the extensive use of cocaine or methamphetamine, or the abusive use of amphetamines. Extreme alcohol withdrawal may also cause symptoms of formication, along with delirium tremens, and can often be accompanied by visual hallucinations of insects.

Formication was neatly described in 1890:

A variety of itching, often encountered in the eczema of elderly people, is formication; this is described as exactly like the crawling of myriads of animals over the skin. It is probably due to the successive irritation of nerve fibrils in the skin. At times patients who suffer from it will scarcely be persuaded that it is not due to insects. Yielding to the temptation to scratch invariably makes the disease worse.

The term formication has been in use for several hundred years. In the 1797 edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica, a description of the condition raphania includes the symptom:

, a formication, or sensation as of ants or other small insects creeping on the parts.

CultureRe: Where Is Oduduwa Really From? by tpia: 8:30pm On Aug 07, 2008
@Post,
In trying to understand who Oduduwa was and where he originated from, here are some questions that will assist the research:

1. His father's name  Lamarudu, is the adulterated form and pronounciation for Al-Mahrud. Is it possible that the name Oduduwa is in its adulterated form? If so, what's the authentic form and pronounciation?

2. Is it possible that his grandson Oranmiyan could have been named in memory of his ancestry back to the Oromifaa people of Aksum? I don't know what Oromifaa mean but what does Oranmiyan mean in any Nigerian language? Oranmiyan itself could be an adopted version

3. Obelisks were erected as dedicated structures to the worship of the deities. Its use in ritual practice  is exclusive to only two of world civilizations (Egyptian and Ethiopian). Anywhere else where Obelisk is erected, it exists as a work of art and not as a shrine. The only exception is the obelisk in Ife. It was built by Oduduwa's grandson as a shrine. There is a consciousness, even though they are materially removed from ancestral home, the spirit knows what to do.

4. Look at the white cap Chiefs in Yorubaland. Ancient Egypt had exact same ministerial structure around the King. In fact, look at the cap structure itself, very simple when compared with the elaborate headgear of the Pharaohs, but the folds are a match!

There are many clues and dots that need to be connected together to complete the puzzle. Europeans know, they studied the artifacts they stole from Ife, Bini, Oyo and they are without doubt certain where it all points. They will never admit the connection. How would it be broadcasted? That the seat of power in Ife, Bini and Oyo are all bloodline with the throne of ancient Egypt and Ethiopia? Good Luck!
very interesting points, especially the one about the obelisk.

I do wonder where the Yoruba got the cap design from.

Oranmiyan means My problem or issue has been resolved.

All of Oduduwa's kids' names are in Yoruba. Oduduwa is the only one of his lineage with a non-Yoruba name. Its rather hard to decipher the meaning of his name, so its probably not a Yoruba one. I could be wrong though. However, its not surprising, since Oduduwa himself came from somewhere else prior to becoming the chief ruler in Ife.

@ SM Zina

As much as i despise the juvinile (12 years), posing with a dangerous weapons (AK 47), since i am sure Musa Yar adua, might not be have been able to anticipate the degree of danger inherent in that action, i equally abhor and detest the security officers( either soldiers or Police) on duty at President Yar adua's residence for irresponsibly releasing the weapon to the President's son to pose for picture. I also despise NV M for posting the picture on the internet because, two wrongs does not make one right. NV M as a caring aspiring parent or parent to be and a nigerian patiot, could have used other means of reaching the yar adua family to caution the young boy. We are gradually copying the west too blindly in their so called freedom of expression, but we as africans, also have our traditional values and ways and means of correcting the children of our elders(rich, chiefs, religious etc) in the our community when they go wayward rather than blowing it out of proportion. Aren't we washing our dirty linen outside NV M?
you dont seem to realize the level of malice some so called Nigerians have for Nigeria. NV M is no exception here.

Using a 12 year old boy to get at his father is really low, and smacks of the militant child kidnappings in the Niger Delta.

If someone can get this close to the boy and snap this kind of picture just in order to give the father bad publicity, then they can also get close enough to kidnap him.

I am always willing to be enlightened. . . . .please post the true history then, let me read it and judge.
You do know truth can be relative- especially in Nigeria.

In the absence of written records, the most anyone can do is follow the language, culture, oral traditions and artistic trails. Then try to make informed (not hasty/mistaken) conclusions from available data.

Negro has made some interesting points. There does seem to be an Egyptian link which may not be peculiar to the Yoruba alone. However, I'm really of the opinion that Sudan is the smoking gun here.

The article you posted seemed to have a general idea about origins, but some of the specifics were kind of hard to swallow. Especially the Yoruba ones. However, the Urhobo roots do make sense, as far as the little I know.

Oral tradition all over Yorubaland verifies the fact that Oduduwa's descendants are the reigning monarchs of most major Yoruba towns. Bini only conquered some part of Lagos. The Portuguese met a Bini garrison there when they first landed, I think. The original owners of Lagos, however, are not the Bini but the Aworis (Yoruba).

I believe the Binis had lost their grip on Lagos by the time the British arrived. Binis also conquered some parts of Ondo state, but they were pushed back after some prolonged wars, and those areas reinstated their allegiance to Ife (kind of like Spain, Portugal and the Moorish invaders, imo). So its more like a tug of war between the Ife and Benin monarchs.

There was a book covering all these things in detail but I cant remember the name.

Anyway, he's obviously unstable, and the girl better find a way to break off gently without upsetting him.

By the way, can't they just be friends- why must they be lovers, given the situation. You can't force someone to love you, really. It doesnt work that way. For women especially- you can't force their love.
