As an example, see the voltron above spelling expatriate as expertrate and floored as flawed, amongst numerous other blunders in his comments. Yet, he is vehemently defending someone whose kids went to the best schools overseas and got the best education. That is the Nigeria we live in.
Lol...It's a pattern. It's either they blindly defend religions and tribes or football clubs and celebrities. They don't do this because they seek betterment for their polity, they do it to show off what crumbs of knowledge they have. This is why you can hardly get them to take an action step towards rooting out the bad eggs.

Exactly. So many loopholes and that is what we should be focused on as a people, how to close these holes and ensure money meant for the country is used for the country. I am not a fan of any politician whether this man or the present one, what I find annoying are those trying to defend him at any cost. Look at the current state of Nigeria. Haba! Can people please have some sense for goodness sake?
The security our politicians enjoy (the citizens' readiness to always defend them) is what makes it difficult for them to do what is right. Amaechi said he should be stoned if he doesn't live to expectations yet, his party arrests anyone who say anything they find insulting. Imagine a Nigeria where everybody goes against these individuals at the same time? How much can the armed forces defend them? But even here on Nairaland, you'd see youths who after spending 6 years in schools, graduating without getting a good job, will still be singing their praises. It's sad to say but affliction is somehow wired into the brain of the average Nigerian. That's why he only barks when he's most pained.

It's sickening and disgusting to see honestly. Ask these same guys if they have 24 hour light, standard schools and hospitals or if they can take a stroll late at night in a safe environment. No. They are here defending a POLITICIAN.

Nigerians deserve the crap leaders they get. They have just started, they should continue.
This is just the point! I'm a good fan of Ajimobi because I've heard him talk several times and I respect his intellect, boldness in carrying out government's policies, and his efficiencies. But to defend his wealth while I'm yet to get a major foothold in life is something I'd never do. He has children who have enjoyed and are still enjoying his wealth, they should come and defend him.
It's a good thing to be passionate about politics but it's terrible to deify politicians, that's the easiest way to make them misbehave. The present governor himself needs to be careful. The system already provides loopholes for them to loot the state.
CrimeRe: Hushpuppi And Woodberry Extradited To US by traihit: 3:35pm On Jul 02, 2020
hmm...the problem with crime and illegitimate income is that it is never enough even when it is more than enough. These guys had all the chances to lie low, rewrite their story by investing their loots, etc but they choose not to. It's not their fault, it's the nature of crime and greed. This is why it is absolutely better to stay totally away from fraud or other illegal income generation. You just don't know when you'll get caught.

We in SW have opened our hands, lands, hearts and even resources to all southeners and even northerners that don't deserve this
But some South easterners always aim to kick us in the balls

Thank goodness they always miss and hit their foot on stone while blaming us for not opening our legs wide for them not to miss.
It's really strange to me that an average illiterate Yoruba person won't have any problem collaborating with Igbos and during my time in the East, I noticed how the people treated everyone with open arms no matter their tribes. They were in fact very ready to learn more about the Yorubas greetings, foods etc. But then you come online and it's the so called educated people shouting "this tribe is to blame, no it is this". Seems their education is really a big disadvantage to their unity. I once met an Igboman you'd call "average citizen". When he started telling me about the civil war (which he witnessed as a young person then), it still pains me I couldn't spend more time listening to him. Then you see the young people who are only open to skewed literature hating themselves while their enemies keep wrecking havoc.
RomanceRe: My Girlfriend Asked Me To Tell My Mum To Remarry & I Have Lost Confidence In Her by traihit: 5:45pm On Jul 01, 2020
People still think marriage is all about sex....I doubt if this is not one of the reasons some marriages are breaking today. Marriage is more about companionship, connecting with someone you can call your 'grade'. Someone who won't think you're bothering them when you tell them trivial things that bother you. I usually don't dabble into girlfriend-boyfriend issue but the girl is a right-thinking girl even though individual decisions (your mother's in this case) matter more. She's not said anything wrong, she's probably talking based on her observation.
PoliticsRe: Ajimobi's Mansion That Led To Clash Between Family & Oyo State Government by traihit: 7:50am On Jun 30, 2020
Is there anyone of those politicians who doesn't have a house at Agodi GRA? Since 1999, I can only vouch for the late Lam Adesina. Almost all the other governors including Seyi Makinde has a mansion there. We don't have a crop of politicians who are entirely free from corruption but meanwhile, the mansion in question is a case still in court and there's been no official report it was acquired as a loot but don't be deceived, Agodi GRA, Oluyole, Bodija and Samonda are choice places for these elites and power is just a way of cementing that choice. Take a stroll around these areas and see some of the houses deserted and unoccupied. It's the type of democracy we practice here.

I understand how some women would use somebody to trend and so on but seriously, men need to stop thinking they can have their way around any woman because they have wealth, confidence or popularity. That's not what masculinity is all about. Men don't pursue wealth to have women flowing round about them like the waters at the beach. It's becoming a huge cultural misrepresentation of men. You may say that the man didn't have his way but what should we say when you invite a lady and the next thing is to have a carnal knowledge of her even when communications between you haven't suggest that. It's really gross!

If that is exactly how IPOB members are, then every Nigerian should be a member of IPOB. Funny thing is most southern Nigerian tribes (it should be the same in the North too) condone stealing and illegal funds. How materialism ate us this deep is what keep baffling me. We now have two major tribes in the south who used to compete for development now competing for fraud and corruption.

Why tagging FBI on him though , shows you how people reaaaaaly want to bring others above you down . It's literally called the crab mentality and Great news ! Folks 70-80percent of Nigerians have this habbit , along with begging randomly (trying your luck) it's a habit and almost impossible to stop that's why your friends keep asking you for money , it's not normal to ask for money , it's an unhealthy habit , hence an addiction , from there we curb fraud
To be honest, can we define them as people who've risen beyond the packs? Then how should Innoson and other great Nigerian industrialists (who started from scratch without making others cry) feel? The evils these people have done and are still doing to our reputation keep increasing. Try getting foreign opportunities alone and see how much you're placed aside despite being better than your counterparts.

That's how good we are Nigerians, always quick to attribute things to God even though it's gotten through cheating. Btw, it's either we increase our comprehension of comments on Nairaland or we stop being too defensive because someone does not do what you're doing. If I comment that I'm doing or not doing something, I don't ask you to join me. I'm only talking about me. Why then should we keep bothering ourselves on whether to give a 'sh*t' or not. Is it now a sin not to belong to popular ideologies and beliefs?

That's a lie.

Ayefele did a program on radio yesterday, he explained all that happened as per the demolition.
Ajimobi took blame for what wasn't his fault.
The 2 settled and moved on amicably.
Ajimobi after the incident attended Ayefele's children naming ceremony.
According to Yinka, they both developed a cordial relationship after the incident
Not only Ayefele alone. Another popular broadcaster in Ibadan yesterday referenced what happened dring Ajimobi's first tenure. Most governors have bad aides, themselves are not so demonic. But the reputation that had been destroyed can hardly be rebuilt. I've heard of some other individual encounters with Ajimobi and all you'll see is someone with a heart of dove. Power indeed has so many downsides.

This state really has a very good blueprint. I've never been to Akwa Ibom before but my friends from there and the pictures I see only tell me something huge is silently springing out of the South-South. These are states that should be boasting of more wealth than the other states in the country. I only pray the state keep getting visionary leaders to keep driving it until it becomes a new model state where everything is well planned and structured. This is why other states should start holding their governors and grassroots' leaders to ransom. Akwa Ibom is rising internally because it is internally motivated and not because Buhari or some central powers like it.

This kind news Dey taya me to read sometimes
While I don't support wastage in government's spending, we should understand that funding hospitals, schools and the basic amenities you mentioned are not done once and for all, they are recurrent projects that need constant funding to stay top of the notch. If these funds are being maximized like an efficient private firm will maximize its resources, there's nothing wrong with it. But this is Nigeria where funds for the basic amenities you mentioned get looted how much more stimulus package?

You are contradicting yourself, you said it isn't normal, either the man is sick upstairs or possessed to do so. Yet you recommend punishment. You are a wicked and vile judge.
How can a man who is possessed by a stronger force to do something be held responsible for that act? How can a man who according to you as lost his reasoning capacity be held responsible for his actions? Isn't it obvious he is under influence beyond his control?
In America, the easiest way to get a person off time, especially crime of violence or murder, is for the defendant lawyer to bleed insanity. If he succeeded in proving the suspect is mentally insane, the culprit will walk away,in all cases.
Won't try to prove you otherwise that I'm a bad judge. Other than insanity which I don't think Nigerian law really talk about, does the law recognise demonic possession? Do you know of one in such a state? How do you expect our present world of celebrities and social media with its reactionary tendencies to treat this? Of course, I'm a bad judge. That's why I stay away from sentencing people except if I'm there when they were reckless with substances intake and they refuse after warning them.

True..but then I'm thinking, it's one of the dilemmas of being a politician. If you've had a great career before you go into politics and you happen to get elected, any show of opulence won't be attributed to your career again, it'd be seen as a way of misusing public funds. And as Nigerians, we have all reasons to be like this.

Kinematics:
All you just told us here is that Tinubu's influence begins in the South West and ends in the South West.

Also you made us know that 98% of SW politicians are Tinubu's boys including some yoruba politicians from Kwara and Kogi.

Your message is clear. Tinubu is a Yoruba godfather. A regional jagaban.
Godfatherism is a thing that's enshrined in the yoruba culture, so I'm not surprised. Let him become a godfather outside yorubaland then I can take him serious.
I f you're selling a particular commodity in Yorubaland and it's counterfeit, just pray the people don't get aware. Once they're aware, rumours will spread like wildfire that your product has killed people (even if it hasn't). If you come back to market products again, no matter how good or cheap, the people won't patronise you. Yorubas are not united in terms of national politics but if a leader at the state level misbehaves, he is gone and gone forever. If Tinubu 'godfathered' some people into leadership position in Yorubaland and those people are accepted, it's because they have something to offer even if Tinubu himself is not widely accepted in Yorubaland.

Which legacy? Mention them n stop that rubbish.
He built the Technical University even though it's structure for now doesn't favour the masses. He was the first to bring metro buses to Oyo State. He dualized all roads leading to major town and cities in Oyo State (the only dual roads in Oyo were constructed by him), the Mokola flyover was built by him. He saw to the designing of a state brand (logo and anthem). He built some ultramodern secondary schools, handed schools over to governing boards which the current administration is improving on. He initiated the Operation Burst that saw to the end of security challenges in Oyo State especially by the NURTW. He started the Ibadan Urban Flood Management Programme in conjunction with World Bank. He started the Ibadan circular road. He initiated the idea of CCTV in major areas which the present administration has upgraded. These are the few that comes to mind. I know how much Ibadan changed between 2011 when he took over and 2019. I don't do apologist for any politician but if Nigeria were to work efficiently, people like Ajimobi (in terms of vision) and more will be needed. Like I said earlier, he lacked respect to a great deal and was not diplomatic at all.

Let Ajimobi receive knocks on his head for ill-treating people even the Olubadan but he has good legacies in government and no other governor in Oyo has as much.

It's sad today's world emphasises the benefits of wealth without informing us of the benefits of the values behind wealth. Nobody cares to add value again, we all want to be rich, famous and respected by people who don't even know us. We all want attention from people who won't bat an eye when we are gone. We want to be envied, we want to be the subject of attention but we don't want to add any value. It's sad!

You can't please everyone.

I am sure the man knew this. No matter what you do, there will be those who think you are arrogant, those who think you are kind, those who think you are wicked, those who think you are too soft, those who think you are too hard...

May his soul rest in peace.
His bluntness which translates to rudeness, his ' I don't care attitude' when he's hell-bent on making certain policies, his refusal to pay pensions on time, the rancour he had with civil servants etc were his faults. We only saw those faults because we're alive. But now that he's dead, we keep seeing what he did (though with iron hands in Ibadan). I still stand to be corrected, Oyo State witnessed the safest period under him and to me, he's the best governor the state has had since 1999. Till this moment, present administration is still building on what he's done than starting new projects. He was a good manager who had faults relating with people. If you want to enjoy listening to an Oyo state governor on interview, go listen to Ajimobi's.
