Good morning my good people.

Please, I need to get cleared on this;
In a situation where a family is granted Australian PR visa, Can the principal applicant enter Australia first, while his family join much later before the expiration of initial entry date? I just feel it's wise for the Principal applicant to move ahead of the rest members of the family to at least prepare the way for others due to uncertainties with job and cost of settling down.

except your spouse does not possess ability to work, that's the only way this will make sense.
because leaving a family back here still means you will provide money for their upkeep? abi?
We have seen cases where it was even the partner that got the better job first.
At the end of the day, think it well.

Hello people,

Going through the points table for Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190), I can't see any sub-category for Masters under academic qualification.
What category can I select please knowing that I have Msc?

Also, what does the skill assessment entail? I have gone through but still can't figure out what I'm to do. From what I read, it's supposed to be very important.

What exactly are you trying to do?
Skill assessment? Which occupation? What experience do you have? How many years?All of these is needed to help you and answer your questions.

- Hello guys, I have the following skills and experience

ICT Customer Support Officer (190, 407, 489 (S/T), TSS (S))

ICT Support and Test Engineers nec (190, 407, 489 (S/T), TSS (S)) ACS
ICT Support Engineer (190, 407, 489 (S/T), TSS (S)) ACS
ICT Support Technicians nec ( 190, 407, 489 (S/T), TSS (S)) TRA
ICT Systems Test Engineer (190, 407, 489 (S/T), TSS (S)) ACS
Systems Administrator (190, 407, 489 (S/T), TSS (S) )ACS

see below the breakdown of my profile and advise

Age = 25 points
Education = B.Sc and M.Sc.
B.Sc = Computer Science = 2006
M.Sc = Computer Science = 2014
Experience = 10 years = 15 points
English = yet to be taken
I understand that if I apply with M.Sc, they will deduct some yrs from my experience(As is assumed you can't work and study at the same time). so based on this, I want to apply with only B.Sc.
My Question is: what is the possibility of getting the maximum point (15 ) for education with a 4 years program in computer science (School = UNN)?
thanks for your response

Like someone has earlier said, if you are going for ACS, pick an occupation that is on 189 list not just 190.
Your experience can easily align with 263111.
I don't know why you assume that assessing with MSC will mean deduction of more years than bsc. That is false.
ACS is easier, cheaper and more straightforward too.
Read and digest everything on ACS websiite.

Hello everyone, thanks for this wonderful help that even money cannot always buy. I have been researching and have not reached a solid conclusion on what to do concerning my skills assessment because my qualification is Microbiologist and my work experience is admin officer and customer relations personnel. Pls advise on what to assess to assure me of a positive outcome. Thank you. PS; age 32, ielts 8.5,7,7.5,7.5.

If you don't mind Canada, your chances are higher-especially with your IELTS score.

Has anyone claimed work experience during the period of M.Sc. or PhD from ACS?
It is stated in their guide that: Work experience carried out as part of a qualification is not considered for skilled employment and will be reported as “Concurrent Employment”
In Nigeria, we work and do M.Sc together.
Please I need someone to explain a way out of this
Thanks.

I think it's more about the certificate issued first before the amount of years used to obtain such certificate. Don't you think?

Just saw that he has an HND not BSc.
You're correct.
HND holders have a better chance in Canada honestly. Cos ond and hnd will be assessed as two different degrees- hence more point.
@ejadike sorry for the mix-up. I assumed it was a BSc. I doubt your HND will fly with Vetassess

I think even that is a skill level 1 occupation
Hence my question.
If they person studied estate management for 5 years in a tier two institution,(or 4 years in a tier 1 institution) then it will be assessed as bsc which is good for skill level 1.

Can someone please help clarify what this section of the ACS guideline means:

Thesis or Research Project Abstract
When the qualification includes a thesis or research project, an abstract of the thesis or research project is required. The abstract should be endorsed by the primary supervisor where possible. The name of the University and the date of the thesis publication or project completion should appear on the front page of the abstract.

I intend to submit my profile to ACS for assessment soon. I have a BSc in Computer Engineering. The only project I did was in my final year. Do I have to submit an abstract of this

The ACS guideline is available here:
https://www.acs.org.au/content/dam/acs/acs-skills/Skills%20Assessment%20Guidelines%20for%20Applicants%20-%20Feb%202018.pdf

This is probably for PHD ppl or something.
Don't know of anyone who has had to submit such and we Acs ppl are plenty here.
Just submit your degree certificate and transcript + any certifications you want to include. That will do for
Assessing your education.

Hello house, please has anyone assessed as a mathematician,actuary or statistician?

Please help assess this situation? The current JD suits that of a mathematician and actuary (since they are almost the same thing). The person has got Bsc in mathematics from a Tier 1 uni and to get a positive assessment from VETASSeS for actuary, they can consider this based on relevant skilled employment which she has.

The issue is mathematician is on STSOL while Actuary is MLTSSL and therefore open to more state nomination and 189.

The question is if the person nominates Mathematician she is limited to Victoria,Tasmania and NT and getting the POF stated is difficult, any suggestions on how to go about this?

If she nominates actuary it's more open to NSW and the likes but stands a risk of negative assessment.

Hence the dilemma. Just need advise from more experienced people on how to go about making a better choice.

Thank you.
Go for actuary-Qualifications in Mathematics or Statistics with
supporting highly relevant employment will be assessed on a
case-by-case basis.

I believe if your JD closely matches that of an actuary, you will get a positive assessment.
Packaging will solve this issue.

Hi all,
I'm new here but I've gained a whole lot from both threads. God bless all the contributors.

I have an issue I'm trying to figure out, so thought to bring it here. So I applied to vetassess for hotel manager, claiming two career timelines: 2011- 2014 (hotel admin assistant) and 2014-2018 (hotel manager). I received a positive outcome few weeks ago, however, my years of experience was slashed to 1.2 yrs. Now to my issue, I was going for visa class 190 for NSW, but sadly hotel manager was removed from the 190 list last week. The only viable option for me is Victoria, but I'm wondering if I'm qualified to get nomination from Victoria cos they have an additional requirement for "at least 5years experience". Now I'm wondering if the experience Victoria will consider is that of vetassess (1.2years) or my general years of experience which is 8yrs. Pls advise.

Thank you guys!

Most likely the 1.2 years Vetassess gave you.
However, there is no harm in trying.
I can see its available in NT and even Tasmania as well for 190
489 for SA, TASMANIA, NSW, NT and VICTORIA. Apply to as much states and regions u can apply to.
the earlier the better as well. Goodluck.

Hi Experienced guyz.

Age = 34 point 25 Point
Degree = M.Sc (Computer Science)= 15 Point
Experience = Over 8 yrs = so Expecting 15 ( all Experience is on IT Support /officer Analyst/Support/Engineer)
English Test == Not yet Taken ==
with 10 in English, I should getting 65 points

So based on my experience, I can go for the following skill set

ICT Customer Support Officer (190, 407, 489 (S/T), TSS (S)) TRA
ICT Support and Test Engineers nec (190, 407, 489 (S/T), TSS (S)) ACS
ICT Support Engineer (190, 407, 489 (S/T), TSS (S)) ACS
ICT Support Technicians nec ( 190, 407, 489 (S/T), TSS (S)) TRA
ICT Systems Test Engineer (190, 407, 489 (S/T), TSS (S)) ACS
Systems Administrator (190, 407, 489 (S/T), TSS (S) )ACS

now which of the skill should I use and can I apply for assessment without English test result?

kindly advice. Thanks in anticipation.

ACS definitely.
Before you pick an occupation, be sure to check it out and see the ones with more options for state sponsorship.
Also note that If u don’t include experience gained during internship and Nysc-that your 8 years will be reduced - so read the information on Acs website well and see how many years experience they require you to have (by “to have” I mean how many years they will deduct )if you have an MSC.

Hi everyone, thanks for the wonderful job of sharing informations here. Please, I need your advice and suggestions, 1'm 34 yrs old, married with 2 kids,presently a property manager (I own a real estate management business with my wife for nearly 3yrs), my highest educational qualification is Msc (Real Estate Management and Investment 2015). Prior to my Msc, I had a Bachelor degree in Teacher Education/Physics.

Here is my situation, I'm planning to apply for Canadian PR via express entry pool, and thinking of the probability of shooting 2 birds with one stone (Although I prefer Australia because of the weather), but the process and procedure of the Aussie own seems not too straightforward like the Canada, I'll like great people here to use my situation in the first paragraph in advising me. I will be glad to know if my my occupation is listed on Australian skill list?,if yes, how do I go about about the assessment and application?, and any other advice.

I'm asking these questions because of confusing and conflicting information I have read about the Australia stuff. Thanks for your assistance.

With your profile, you are a better candidate with Canada.
However you might be a good candidate for Valuer-but you need really high scores cos although its on 189, you need high points.
Available in Tasmania on 190 and 489 and special conditions in SA.
Its doable but erm..experience point is already low so...
My advice is concentrate on Canada-with high scores in IELTS and your msc, your point should be high enough.
Australia should be Plan B.
Good luck.

Hello @teewhysafe, please, I need help in assessing my realistic chances for skilled immigration to Australia with the following points and profile.

Age: (25 points)
Education: (20 points)(ANZSCO
Code) - 133111 - Construction Project Manager
IELTS: L8.0, S7.5, W7.5, R7.5 (10 points??)/I could put in for PTE to get 20 points if necessary.
Work: 3yrs+ (5 Points)

My main question is that I have a 5yr degree, MSc both in Estate Management, and a PhD in Construction and Project Mgt all earned in Nigeria Universities.

With these qualifications what are my chances for a positive assessment with Vettasses for Construction Project Manager, with a 3yr+ work experience as a Construction Manager with almost identical job description with (ANZSCO Code) - 133111 - Construction Project Manager?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Have you gotten a response to your question?
I think you are a good candidate for construction project manager.
However, Vetassess says
"A highly relevant field of study is Construction Project
Management, which is the study of planning and controlling
building projects (ASCED). General management degrees without
underpinning or related studies in construction/civil engineering
or building would not usually be positively assessed for this
occupation. Qualifications in Architectural Studies with
supporting highly relevant employment will be considered on a
case-bycase basis
."

Question now is whether they will overlook your bsc and give you positive assessment since PHD is in CPM.
Another issue is the courses in your estate management transcript and how relevant it is to CPM.
I'd say go for it. hope for the best.

CPM is available for 190 in Just Northern Territory and Tasmania-Both states and their conditions tire me.
Good news is its available in 4 states for 489-one of which is NSW. Available in two regions in NSW actually.
NSW is more straightforward to apply to.
it is also available on 189-if you are lucky and one year isn't deducted-with 70 points you can be lucky to get ITA for 189.
Long story short, start the process sharply-3 months ago Valuer was available on 190 and you would have gotten ITA with even 55 points.
Option B will be to apply as Valuer.

Good luck.

If I am not mistaken, if you are still at the same job.u don't need to ask EA to update the work experience.
Infact, if you had used the report as at the time you got it to fill EOI, you will be asked whether you still work there.
if you picked yes, your EOI will automatically update and the extra 5 points will be added when it became 8 years.
