ZKOSOSO:exactly o. They literally snatched, grabbed and ran away with 'it' |
jrobbins:crisp and succinct, just like your previous post. |
Lol Did I just read that they wanna conduct autopsy on someone who was shot in the head?? |
Mcslize:and just like that na so you don turn anti-japa o Gerrard59. Story of my life🤣🤣🤣 Once you dare to have an opinion that doesn't conform to the mob like this, or argue your point of view like this, gbam! You don turn anti-japa be that. Nairaland members are just something else. |
NuCypher:on the assumption that naira is still shit in 2,5,10 years time. Fortunately/unfortunately that could very well change with the right policies and leadership. What happens then? I am holding the bulk of my savings in USD and I currently have a pessimistic outlook to Nigeria, but I'm not stupid to arrogantly block off the possibility that naira could appreciate with the right policies at any time. If I as much as read news of at least two refineries (Dangote and at least one other) being truly operational lasan, you can bet I'm selling that dollar stash pronto, cos I know what that portends/means. |
desiredmee:first of, again the only thing that irks me is the statement 'a cleaner in Aussie is better than a Regional Manager in Zenith bank'..so we don't lose focus or context.. the fellow I responded to which made you quote my post was saying it is all about the money, and I say ok oo but for some like me, more money isn't a motivator when you have sorted that need and have moved up to a higher level need that now motivates you. That was the crux of my post that you quoted. I don't care about OPs move abroad, his reasons for moving, or what he does for a living. I agree that our leaders should b stoned to death with hot bricks but that doesn't mean I shouldn't have self worth, going around to make silly and baseless statements and comparisons online. Anyone who feels he is worthless cos he is Nigerian can gladly join the league of those who don't wait to be told that destitutes and dogs are better than them but already happily or sadly believe that to be their case. I won't stop you or them. Ps: A janitor is a janitor, whether in the USA, Uzbekistan or Nigeria. If that is what anyone aspires to be, that's none of my business. I have never and don't ever aspire to be a janitor even if it hypothetically pays more than my current job (which it can't/ doesn't, be it here or yonder). Have at it if you want it. Cheers |
DataDoc:why do most Nigerians whip up sentiments that are not existent or jump to conclusions that are not even inferred. One other fellow also made it seem like I am doing a comparison (thankfully I'm already used to this) when I am only telling OP to limit the self-immolation to himself. I didn't say suicides don't occur in Nigeria. I was merely showing our new entrants to 'heavenly Aussie' who believed that there are no beggars in Aussie and that everyone is happy and flourishing that there are in fact beggars there and that people apparently have problems there too and are infact expressing that with an evidently high suicide rate....unless they are killing themselves from so much joy, success, abundance, and fulfillment. I did not say or suggest that naija no dey kpai demselves, una don already conclude that one say everybody wey dey naija is done for and a waste including the Regional managers and top-execs. Hope that much is clear now. |
My only grouse with usefulsense is that mundane and very derogatory submission he made which I rightly told him to personalize. Just imagine for a second that a white dude tells you to your face that my dog is better than you, na that same feeling accompany such a silly submission that a cleaner is better than a RM of Zenith bank, just because the cleaner is in a first world country. Now imagine someone saying that to himself and his kinsmen. Omo speak for yourself o. No be every financial controller worth their weight in gold. The ones wey weigh no fit ever reason like that much less talk/write that..onto exchange rate. Smh For someone like op with the kind of exposure he must have had (to become a FC, if true) and at that age, to actually think that way was kind of a let down and that is why I expressed it. I don't care if you move out of the country and do whatever, but pls be sensible and don't act like your forefathers that saw a mirror and lost all their senses and exchanged mirrors for slaves. How can you say there are no beggars in a country( thank God at least he didn't push that one further) or say one cleaner somewhere is better than someone well-read, super motivated, an achiever with a career who rose to become a top exec/RM? Madness! And you can only read or hear that from Nigerians with no self worth. As backward as Africa is na only Naija dey fall hand and constitute nuisance like this and it is annoying. Then you say they don't recognize your experience and credentials. How can they? When you have told them repeatedly how you don't even measure up to their homeless people and how they have given your life meaning just by accepting you. Why were you guys hating on Emdee Tiamiyu when you are no different. Dem just never interview una or give you mic yet, you'd clearly do worse Cheers |
skultrick:lol. That is your perspective. Some people see life and the pursuit of happiness and/or significance differently. I was asked at a job interview as a fresh grad if I would prefer to be a janitor for 200k salary or a manager for 100k salary. My answer then was a manager. Fast forward to now, my answer is still the same. And based off your answer I can tell you'd choose to be a janitor, which is fine and your prerogative. To explain tha Maslow's hierarchy of needs simply, it simply states that there is always a pressing need that motivates you and once that need is satisfied you move up to a 'higher' level need, which becomes your new motivator and so on up till level 5. Even as a fresh grad I knew I would derive no joy being a janitor for higher pay, and if I lose that specific janitor job, there is a very slim chance I'd get another paying same, but as a manager my next job could be that 100000*10, and more importantly I'd be happy while at it and fulfilled meaning I have somewhat moved to level 4 on the hierarchy. Where I am on the hierarchy, I can't think like you have sadly, I am not motivated by only 'more money' or the presence of 'emergency care'. I suspect you still may not understand, but it is a teachable moment, someone might learn something and I feel like teaching. Life is more than exchange rate. For someone like op with the kind of exposure he must have had and at thatbage to think that way was kind of a let down and that is why I expressed it. I don't care if you move out of the country and do whatever, but pls be sensible and don't act like you forefather that saw a mirror and lost all there senses. VULCAN:and yet you didn't ignore. We know you are worthless and worth less, so run along with your worthless self. Years ago, it was whites that would say to people like you with zero self-worth, things like 'my dog has more worth than you'. Fast forward to 2024, you lots are saying it about yourselves, online nonetheless 🤣🤣🤣 Carry on jare. Shebi a destitute in Aussie is better than Nairabet CEO? I agree 100% |
treatise:except this has nothing to do with the FG or Tinubu. The backlogs are still uncleared due to huge losses the airlines would be hit with should they convert their tickets sold at the 440 rate to the current rate. The money in USD they would get would be probably a third of what they should have using today's rate. This is why Nigeria airfares are far more expensive than even neighboring Cotonou, they are trying to make bumper profits to hedge the loss of that FX recalculation in case in the long run they don't have a choice but to accept govt terms. This is simply and totally a response to the competition that AIR Peace now poses to the other foreign carriers. Say thank you to business competition, not Tinubu. Someone also posted proof as to why even dumb Bubu should be thanked and I agree. A 13billion naira waiver is huge, so he can be linked to this success of air peace at least. |
chidi4sam:I understand you. You'll see that I didn't comment on the guy's comment that you referenced or even OP's response to that comment, cos e no really consign me. Decisions like this are personal, I don't want to or need to understand them, cos e no consign me, but like I said those kinda statements really rub off on me somehow, which is why I encouraged him to personalize it. Even if you (I don't mean YOU specifically in this instance) think oyinbos and oyinbo land is heaven (which is a choice that you're entitled to) cant we just freaking pretend to be cool and be a little bit more composed ffs.... I seriously can't even picture a Ghanaian say a cleaner in Aussie is better than a top executive in Ghana, much less a South African (these ones especially carry themselves with pride even tho they ain't shit). Cleaner better than a top executive/manager wtf!!! Good luck getting respect from people who constantly see you happily debase yourselves this way in comparison to them. Na im be say all the professionals excelling in Nigeria, doing great work and relentless high achievers are all living wasted lives niyen. They are better off as cleaners or riding at the back of a garbage truck or just plain ol dead. Lol I think we can be a lot more composed and just quit with this self deprecating inferiority tirade BS. That is all I want to stamp here tonight. Cheers. |
jedisco:the crux of what you typed here is that based on emergency care available to the cleaner over there he/she is better off than a Regional manager in Nigeria right? I know you mentioned kidnappings too o, but majorly I have hit the nail on the head as per the weighty component of your point right? If yes, then YES I also do see your point. I especially like how you touched on the difference in the overall experience of routine care Vs emergency care in the UK cos it is a significant one to note, cos the routine one wey concern the vast majority of cases and that most people need, you gats wait months, but the emergency care na im you put for front burner in this instance BUT here is the thing for me, I simply cannot agree that the simple presence of emergency care to the person in Aussie is enough reason to say he is living a better life than someone who is excelling, well read and rose through the ranks to become a .regional manager at Zenith, simply cos he can't get a chopper ambulance to pick him up or an ambulance to get to him in 5mins. Fulfilment in life doesn't come from emergency care. What life and living is about is more than emergency care. Very very many people go through a whole lifetime without the need for emergency care. Many people who get emergency care still die. Na the things wey dey drive most peeps and give them fulfillment dey that table below. To now tell me the person wey dey level 1 better pass person wey dey level 4 or 5 simply cos e get access to emergency care, no jus follow as far as I am concerned.

chidi4sam:dude We know Aussie is better, there is no need to compare or even convince anyone of that But while things are shitty o'er here and I do talk about the issues here very often (if you check my history), making the kinda of statement that I hear and read most Nigerians make when they leave these shores to other countries just is not a good look. I don't see even other Africans do this self-deprecating, inferiority tirade BS, much less other races. What Australian will read this kinda crap and value or respect you?. And una dey blast Emdee Tiamiyu ooo. You basically are admitting to them ever so passionately and diligently that you are worthless without being there and living there is what gives your life meaning.. like wtf. Let's package ourselves better abeg. No be to dey drive the hype like say we never see chandelier before. How you go dey talk online say cleaner for one place better pass a well read, accomplished person who rose to the ranks of a Regional manager at Zenith bank?? Does that make any kind of sense at all....and then still turn around to say life is not all about money..classic incoherence. Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a good reference point, we have diff things that drive us, different things we aspire to, clearly....cos that statement just no make sense or senses....and it is not a good look abeg A garbage disposal guy in Aussie, Canada, US and Youkay sef is better than a governor in Nigeria. Ment! |
jedisco:peeps can talk about real issues like low global mobility for Nigerians and the other myriad of challenges without coming up with wack and tenuous, non-intelligent or non-intelligible crap like a cleaner somewhere is better off than a regional manager at Zenith bank. That is idiocy and lunacy combined...and it is rather disappointing to read this from supposed men o, with a phallus between their legs, men that are supposed to build freaking civilizations talking so effing ***""""""""****! Irks the f outta me everytime |
chidi4sam:yea, no beggars or destitutes in your side of Aussie. They all wear rolexes and drive Porsches. Grown up dudes such as you and Op saying authoritatively say beggars no dey one country...he even saying that haven been there just about 3months. Na wa! Enjoy....Nofin do you
|
Usefulsense:just say a toilet cleaner in Aussie lived a better life than you did while you were in Nigeria. Personalise this inferiority complex abeg. Own it! Don't bring one mythical regional manager of zenith bank into this. Not everyone was evidently miserable like you while you were in Nigeria. I thank God everyday for the fact that I don't think so lowly like this. Jeez! This stale line is so nauseating. A destitute in Aussie sef was living a better life than you were. We know, we get it. All these peeps in Australia that sought to die by suicide were happy, fulfilled, ok and satisfied to death. Smh

Yugoslavia247:can even get double head (BJ) sef (pun intended) |
pseudonomer:I don't doubt that either. |
Globalinfo247:many are mad, few are roaming. Driver - at least 60k salary Maid - at least 50k salary one Other domestic staff - at least 50k Oga boss balance after above expenses- 40k So oga boss is left with 40k to feed himself and fuel his car for that month? Allen must have just received a Mouth Gig before going on air. His brain never calibrate. |
ivolt:na so Also, loss and profit is a function of decision/choice really. Mr A bought BTC at 30k and watched it drop to 17k for a year. He eventually got tired, sold it at 17k and grieved his 13k loss.. Mr B bought BTC at same 30k, watched it drop to 17k but stuck to his guns that it will still rise, and boom BTC hit 70k in the second year. Mr B is at a car lot splurging 30k on a 2017 GLE and still has 40k USD to play with. Mr A and Mr B's loss and gain were both a matter of choice. End of story. DYOR, make a decision, stick to your guns. You can't play this game it you're fickle. Simple as that! |
Raph82:it's my buy. Taink you very much🙏 If the refineries truly do come on stream, that may inform a different approach, but as of this moment, no shaking at all. Holding the dollar isn't a profit move for me, it is a value preservation move. I trust the dollar to hold its value, so I'll rather keep my shikini wealth/savings in it, so the country doesn't add me to the list of 'have-nots' by no fault of mine. |
iLegendd:5-10 years too long...more like in 3-6months, except both refineries truly come on stream within the next 6 months I'm particularly waiting to see it touch below 1k so I can load up as much as I can for the next 'bull run', cos I'm not optimistic about those refineries one bit, not with all the falsehood. Dec 2023 they said, na March 2024 ending we dey so, we no see even refined palm oil comot from any of the two that were hyped as ready to go. |
missjekyll:since when UK dey dash £160k to someone who didn't discover the cure for AIDS or invent a hydrogen bomb🤣🤣🤣 That is just one of the many silly blogs that have been reporting that false story since yesterday. I don't know if the imbe is in trouble with the UK popo, but I do know the UK doesn't dish out 160k GBP to asylum seekers, which was an element of the silly story. |
First of, Lai is a certified, irredeemable liar. Secondly, this story account even if delivered by him, is certainly not from him. This is a man that is much too dim to be able to spell, pronounce or know the meanings of half of the words in that speech. Flowing from the above, the lying machine has told yet another lie, as this is either the reality/story of someone else or just plain fiction. |

santaclaws:much ado about nothing. I don't care what Thubv does or doesn't do. What I care about, and what i talked about is what I would do if the naira does get below 1k esp given the clear history that is repeating itself in this regard. My life would have been a whole lot easier even till this day had I held 20k USD from my savings and forgotten it in a Dom account when that was just 3million naira 8 years ago. I'm learning from history and always seeking ways to protect myself, not all this one wey you dey talk. They can continue doing eyi je, eyi o je....ko kan mi |
santaclaws:if it falls to below 1k, I aint doffing any hat for any Cardunce-o, as it would just confirm my suspicion that they have also backtracked on their decision on the float, just as they backtracked on their decision on the subsidy just as they backtracked on both btw 2015 and 2017 as I reminded Grandstar just yday. So the smart thing to do is if it does fall below 1k, I would buy more USD and keep as a hedge for whatever is coming. |
