No but it’s not the fault of the innocent businessmen and consumers that the government has not incorporated our BDCs and forex apps into the platform . This can be done.
Those talking about arresting people or seizing funds in accounts are just ignorant
well, I strongly believe it will still get to that, that is confiscating FX funds in Dom accounts.

It will be touted as one of the reforms. They will say you can't have access to the physical cash. So you either use a dollar card to use the funds electronically OR you get the naira equivalent of your FX funds at official rate. Bookmark this post.

Hahaha, fish seller are on strike in Ondo town, cos of high cost of purchasing a carton of fish. A Congo of garri is now 700 in Ondo, just this morning an elderly man who is a farmer was telling me that he wish we could go back to military era when food was cheap and no one dare to sell higher than the agreed price or else such person will loose his/her market cos soldiers will come and scattered everything.
I could remember 3 days to the presidential election, dad came to ask me who to vote for, I told him Peter Obi, he laugh and said he cannot vote for a man that doesn't speak his language. Even on the election day, I was called all sorts of names by the thugs because they couldn't attack me we live together, but they were very angry cos I vote for Obi, they started chasing people that are not ready to vote APC off the queue.
I thank God, my dad is now understanding the language of the man he voted for, including those thugs cos some of them still ask me for money to buy things, I laugh and told them to go and farm cos I'm a farmer.
If this country want to be on the right track, we need to do away with ethnic differences. We are all suffering it including those that doesn't vote (Jehovah Witnesses) etc.
People are dying silently, if you still have phone and data to come online to complain, that means you are not much affected, lot of business have been shut down, even farmers that gave access to food are complaining of transportation to and from farm. Poultry farmers are shutting down cos of high cost of feed. I never believe we could have a government that will be worst than the past government. I'm sure a lot of family are going to celebrate this coming Christmas with empty stomach.
Please let us tryvtoccheck on our neighbours that we couldn't see for 2-3 days, some are dying inside, and please let us share the little we have with other, cfirget about tribe or religion, they government have used tribe and religion to separate us, we are one, the government will not save us, we are the one that will saves our fellow brothers and sisters.

He who can swim, should keep swimming, and who wan sink should sink kia kia....imagine making everyone a seemingly lazy person. We were still complaining about last year, but yet in just this year almost everyone has been liquidated..most don't even know they have been liquidated, e never sink in. Shey dem never turn us all to lazy people, when a nobody in another country with just $100 or pounds is already better off than you struggling to earn a measly 100k profit/salary in a month (for comparison)...and then you ask yourself who will work for a month and not have 100usd or pounds or euro, even if na bambiala work you dey do, you go get more than 100dols or pounds, or euro or cad. Won wa so everybody di alaimose. I'm livid!!!

Ain't no pity or concern to waste for a people who don't give a f**k about themselves. F**k em!

Caring and sharing when fuel is 600+ and dollar is 1300? The Titanic has sunk and i'm only concerned about keeping my life-vest on. Self-preservation first and foremost, everyone else can go f**k themselves😡.

Businesses are dying per minute. Even the food/drugs business is feeling the bad omen called low-patronage. People are piss poor like never before. The way our sales have dropped ehn, the only way we are still on course at least on par with last year is cos we are sourcing cheaper brands/products and inflating prices like mad using the economy as excuse, cos if you don't pack as much profit into each sale OYO lo wa, you won't be able to meet up by month end. All this one is gbajue. Same with the so-called expected loan of $10b 'in coming weeks' reported by Bloomberg.

But it is a much needed gbajue, a necessary gbajue. Something the stoopid CBN governor should have done when he resumed. .

These kinds of news are a simple way to create FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) in the market. If the dud governor had spun these two gbajue stories two weeks ago, dollar for no rish this 1300 wey e rish so, but he/they didn't.

Let's see if the market will respond to the FUD..

What you also forgot is the failure way in which Peter ruled Anambra throughout is 7years plus as governor of the state...during his tenure Anambra was ranked as one of the poorest state in Nigeria.... Nairaland still have the news in its cache on how Peter obi was cursed due to his poor ruling.

Now, you want somebody that cannot rule one of the least population states in nigeria well to come rule Nigeria?
really? and all the northern states, a good number of the eastern states all had far worse rankings... and only one or two SW states aside Lagos had better rankings? Even Edo ruled by Adams Oshi-omo-ole had far worse rankings in the same report that your camp shared. I have it here. Edo for example had a poverty rate of 72.5%! But of course you not talking about that.

we were even importing a lot more then cos money was flowing. I myself started a businesss buying items from Amazon and AliExpress and reselling here, and was spending cumulatively more than 10000 USD a year using my Nigerian debit card... what's even more painful was spending that money wasn't a big deal for me at the time, twas small money, that was just around 1.5m....shey it is the $20 monthly card allowance that has been the case for over 2 years na im Nigerians dey use import. I was importing cars till 2021 when I stopped cos it made no sense to do so anymore due to the landing cost...nobody tell me before I switch to grade A Nigerian used. Let the morons keep capping rubbish and deceiving themselves.

Also dollar was never that high during Jonathan time. It was btw 140-150 for many years..it was only close to the elections that it increased to the 190-200 range, and I'm now pretty sure the APC had something to do with that.

Why are people interested in the exchange rate? Because they depend so much on imported goods including toothpick. Can you imagine?

It's not that we don't produce anything but we don't seems to patronize our own produts hence the rush for anything foreign.

We must change our lifestyle to adopt our own products.

Even the corruption that happened in all the pdp years from 1999-2015, was child's play compared to the corruption that has happened under the APC in just 8 years. PoliticsRe: What Measures Can Be Taken To Stop The Naira From Depreciating by Treadway:
SmartPolician:
First, maintain the status quo; don't float the naira yet. After all, he has already removed the petrol subsidy and the burden is now on the people now.

Short term

Flag off a massive buy made-in-Nigeria-product campaign across the country. However, you must practice what you preach. Ban all MDAs from using imported vehicles - they should patronise only vehicles made in Nigeria. It will save this country a lot of FX.

Those who can access FX from banks must only be for business purposes. People who are not known to be genuine importers should go to the black market. Airline operators and parents paying school fees abroad can also access it because for the airlines, you are subsidizing the industry. For the parents, it's an investment that will pay in the future because those kids will form a buck of Nigerians who live abroad and send remittances to their families in Nigeria. See, leadership na common sense.

If other arms of government see the executive taking this step, their conscience will keep pricking them until they follow suit. If they don't, visit the national assembly. Engage them and tell them to do the same. Do the same whenever the judiciary has major events and invite you. When Buhari started his buy made-in-Nigeria-product campaign, Saraki started wearing clothes made in Aba. Our military was ordering shoes made from Aba. See, leadership at the top is everything. They stopped when they realised that Buhari wasn't serious; he was not leading the campaign by example.

Engage the media, fund national orientation agency and ministry of information. They should go to the markets, malls, schools, churches, mosques, etc to enlighten people about why they should start patronising products made in Nigeria.

Long term plan

Boost Nigeria's power generation capacity and transmission capacity. Invest massively in road infrastructure. Grant 5-year tax breaks to startups. Fund Bank of Industry so they can support SMEs across the country.

Visit major gas companies around the world and invite them to come and harness Nigeria's gas reserves. Nigeria can make billions of dollars per annum from this.

Find out why Nigeria isn't meeting her OPEC quota in crude oil export and make sure the challenge is fixed. Lobby OPEC to increase Nigeria's crude oil sales and bring in more USD into the country.

Invest in cash crops and ensure that the agencies that make them meet international requirements for exportation enlightens local farmers to meet these requirements. Deploy the military in the north and declare state of emergency in LGAs where terrorists don't let people farm in northern Nigeria. Dead or alive, you must be in charge of your country. That's why you are paying a bunch of security operatives. Everyone must justify their pay.

Get a vibrant minister of information. He should engage the people through the media so they know what steps the government is taking to improve the country because many people are not enlightened. There's a reason the White House Press Secretary always holds media briefing. People need to know what the government is doing.

Bros, in four years, these bold steps will start yielding results. When you win your reelection, float the naira that time.

I can go on and on. Believe it or not, it's either Bola Tinubu has no leadership ideas or he is just here for business as usual. Either way, I am not convinced he knows what he is doing.

Nairaland should start paying me for sharing my ideas here. Nigeria will experience a massive transformation when someone like me gets the opportunity to lead. We elect the worst among us to lead
your first solution is what I want to comment on. The bastards egging this dud president on and defending his every move, have been talking trash about how we are not exporting things and how we should use made in Nigeria goods, but the batstards forget so quickly that we werent exporting either during the PDP years and that just recently their legislooters still performed their yearly rituals of buying and sharing 100m+ naira SUVs that are clearly also foreign and imported goods/brands. Talk about OD-ing and going mad on the hypocrisy pill.

That was how we castigated Jonathan, and made excuses for Buhari (myself inclusive but in 2015 only cos I'm not an unfortunate being), only to learn the hard way that weak clueless Jonathan was far far far better.
