I just read about the Tyre Nichols murder. I also just watched the video, and I'm disgusted. Not even by the heinous acts, but by the perpetrators. All the police officers were black! Can you beat that? As if the white popo, who get a boner from killing blacks ain't enough, they gotta have black-killing black cops too. I love how the news reportage has been explicitly stating to all who care to listen/read about it, say na black cops this time o.

jaxxy: I don't get it. Did they commit fraud or they acted aa travel agents without having a licence
They sold valid tickets for a major airline and were paid. Did the airline not get their money or what? or was their ticketing site hacked? ...allegedly misrepresented themselves as employees of travel agencies based out of the United Kingdom to secure access to an online booking portal belonging to a “major European airline.”
Peel police in a statement said the suspects fraudulently sold valid airline tickets to unsuspecting customers and collected the payments for financial gain.
More than 250 airline tickets were sold at a total value of approximately $500,000, the statement disclosedIt is pretty clear na. They likely created a website like wakanow, and used that to get one foot through the door, and then thought to themselves, 'seee money'! They deceived the airline into thinking they were legit agents, and when they sold the tickets and got the money, they failed to remit same as a legit agent would do. |

LagosInter: So if he resigns, he should stay unemployed? first of, na op side I dey. Second, a non-compete essentially is in place so you don't work in the exact same product/industry eg. If you work in FMCG, and you were specifically working with people who sell confectionery, you can't go and work with another confectionery company, but you can work with say drink company, or food company despite that these two are under FMCG also, much less another industry. By design, it is in place so you don't join the competition and give them an edge with the knowledge, skills, trade secrets etc you may have or have had access to from working with them. Seeing the responses from people that the non-compete wasn't clearly worded to include that it is in effect 'upon resignation', l agree that may be a loophole (altho I believe it is implicit, as non-compete by definition are for when you disengage). I won't sign a non-compete for 3 years sha. All in all, I think OP will be fine, if a sound lawyer can argue the case well. Gerrard59: She knows what she is doing. If you are an ardent reader of the Telegraph like I am or the DailyMail (two popular news outlets for Conservatives in the UK), you would read the anger they have for the present government for failing to, in their words, curb immigration as promised under BREXIT. The supporters want a drastic reduction of immigrants, and that is what this woman is hell-bent on. It is one of the reasons she is a favourite in the party compared to, say, the Chancellor of the Exchequer. At least, she can tell her constituents that she did her best to curb immigration to below 100K, but the Education ministry fought against the plans. She will be re-elected when the time comes. The Labour Party Kier has spoken against immigration sef
First, she said let's cancel dependants, but the Education Ministry disagreed. Then she came up with issuing visas to students admitted into Russell Group Universities, but the Education Ministry disagreed again. Then now this one. The Chinese, slightly less than the Indians in the UK, won't be affected as most return home after their studies and have the lowest student: dependent ratio. Indians, OTOH, would not be affected because Modi's government recently signed an immigration deal with the UK that would send nearly 3000 Indians to the UK annually. It just needs ratification from the Brit side to commence later this year. Also, this won't affect the top 50-university graduates' offer to enter the UK and look for jobs. Which Stanford grad go leave America to earn British Pounds? Rather, this new policy if implemented, will disproportionately affect Nigerians because we have the highest student: dependant ratio, attend lowly ranked universities and study courses with funny-looking names. The tech industry that does not discriminate based on the class of institution don get small wahala. And British employers, especially those who will/can sponsor visas are very class-centric, especially for foreign graduates.
Y'all better start looking for new places to japa to as it will be catastrophic if the new rule is applied retroactively.

sukkot: oh brother Treadway salute to you. Now you need to understand that the type of government we have today was created by igbo. just happens that the they are at the losing end of their own creation. This is the igbo created form of government and it does not involve sharing presidency according to tribe. you see there was regional government before and every region and tribe had their own power. however azikiwe ( who said it is the divine right of the igbo man to rule nigeria ) and ironsi didnt like this idea of power not being in the middle ( because at that time all the top guys in the military was igbo ) and so they both plotted the coup and used nzeogwuu and ifeajuna to do it and every regional leader was supposed to be killed but of course azikiwe who was part of the plan conveniently went to london when they struck. after they struck successfully and killed every other regions leaders then ironsi took over as the president and then banned all regional powers in 1966. so now the ultimate power belonged in the middle to igbo. ironsi had all the power. then they drafted the constitution and removed all secession clauses meaning you can never get out of this unified power headed by igbo. unfortunately for ironsi and azikiwe they didnt see that they are roping us all into fulani dominance because the hausa and fulani have more numbers and if they should takeover under a democrazy with their huge numbers and no secession clause ? they are destined to rule us forever. and thats just what they did, fulani came in and snatched the power from ironsi and unfortunately ironsi and azikiwe have created a constitution and a form of government that only favors the fulani and their friends ( which yoruba are their friends. these two tribes respect each other ). and so thats the situation created by igbo. so they have to live with that consequences. there is no sympathy. they played a game of power acquisition and consolidation and lost. and so power is not given region by region or tribe by tribe, you step up and you take it with your actions and campaigning. nobody owes the igbo man power. he has to try and take it like everbody else. if he hasnt been able to take it back in over fifty years then maybe he needs another strategy and this strategy he is using is not working for him. crying about biafra is not a good strategy. abusing every other tribe is not a good strategy. playing the victim game is not a good strategy and nzogbu nzogbu politics is not a good strategy
also apc presdidency under buhari will be different from apc presidency under tinubu. you are right on the history. Truth is, dont be shocked many Igbos don't know this. It is like a bad wife who in truth pushed her husband away. Such a wife will tell a story to her kids about how she is a saint and their dad was a bad bad man, and that is what the children will run with unless they come upon new information otherwise. The subject is self-explanatory. I believe strongly that even despite the short time we have left, we can win over many many more people who may still be sitting on the fence at the moment, for reasons that they are very well entitled to. Of a truth, the overwhelmimg majority of Nigerians are tired of the status quo. We are passionate about having the Nigeria of our dreams unfold before our eyes. Not all of us can or need to japa, therefore, I can understand that we are angry, tired, and determined to show the traducers that seek to hold this country hostage in perpetuity, that enough is enough and that power indeed RESTS with the people. Just as we screamed it out in Oct 2020 via the #endsars movt, we are now screaming for a change in the unhealthy and unwholesome status quo through Peter OBI, as it is our right to do so. BUT, WE MUST DO SO WITH LOVE, DECORUM AND CIVILITY. Vawulence is allowed, sometimes, but it isn't called for all the time! I am a Yoruba man who believes in fairness and believe it is time that Igbos are allowed to lead. I am Obidient 100%, and anyone can check my posts to verify, but some have attacked me without understanding even here on more than one occasion. Even in my person space online or offline, I do the best I can to preach the PO gospel with facts. Eg I have rebutted the 67% Anambra poverty rate that the opposition were peddling no thanks to Soludo, by pointing out to them in their own peddled article that a state like Edo who had Oshiomole as Governor at the time had a worse percentage of 72.5%, and yet people applaud him that he did well. Those are FACTS!. Sharing that little bit of clarity with decorum & depth of understanding, with someone who may be sitting on the fence, may be the little thing that will win them over. Let's espouse good values as we try to win people over and not FASCISM. Again, vawulence may be required sometimes, but not all the time! Let's not behave like the urchins, rather let's suppress urchins with LOUD facts, not even curse words, and let's with that decorum displayed win over others that may be on the fence or sidelines. Igbos have a chequered past in the history of this country, truth be told, but past is past. I see 1999 as a reset, and I believe it is about time we had a president of East extraction. Whomever doesn't agree with this should be won over with warmth and decorum..probe and answer their questions with facts, not by bullying or cursing, unless of course said person is a verifiable nuisance . Bottom line, If you push anyone away in your circle online/offline by being too 'extra', it is on you oooo. Be a good and worthy Apostle. Cheers. More context below of a convo between me and the respectable Sukkot. If this little convo makes this my bros give us one extra PO vote, that is a plus innit !! See the big picture! |
