RomanceRe: Can U Date Fellow Nairalander? by troy20(m): 10:07am On Nov 22, 2013
Matthew briggs: Nairaland for me is quite an ideal place to find someone, if you ask me. Reason been that In the real world we all put on facades, but under the cloak if anonymity most of us let our gaurd down unleashing part of us (behaviour, personality, ideologies) we usally hide from the real world, because of the fear of been judge for who we really are deep down. Therefore Nairaland invariably gives one a clue i.e hint as to who that person you admire really is.

Personally, I have learnt to keep an open mind, because by doing so I get to open doors to new experiences. Experiences, that'll redefine the way I see the world.

RomanceRe: For Those Who Don't Know What Feminism Means by troy20(m): 7:35pm On Nov 19, 2013
ogugua88: There doesn't have to be discriminatory laws for discrimination to take place. If there was no gender discrimination, particularly in the workforce, then President Obama wouldn't have signed the fair pay act in 2009. It was the first piece of legislature he approved as president. That says something.
you lot are doing fine exploiting the weaknesses of countries who profess free democracies.
RomanceRe: For Those Who Don't Know What Feminism Means by troy20(m): 7:28pm On Nov 19, 2013
De Beauvoir: For the love of peace, why do people not read the OP of a thread before rushing to post stu.pid replies?

I clearly stated that feminism is trying to do away with the discriminatory attitudes that is directed at people who do not wish to stick to their traditional gender roles.

I stated it in the OP, I said the negative stereotypes that are attached to such people should be done away with, I didn't say that there are laws prohibiting people from following their dreams, I simply said the mentality of some people who believe in sticking to gender roles need to be changed. A woman who doesn't want to stick to stereotypical female roles eg marrying and child bearing should be left to live her life without being called names, a man who doesn't want to stick to his own roles should be left alone and he shouldn't be looked down upon or mocked.
I said that the mentality should change, I didn't say that there are laws stopping anybody from doing anything.

Talking to some anti feminists can be so exasperating. I don't know what special type of block their heads are made of.
s.tupid and block heads abi? You are wearing yours with so much pride i can see.well putting that tag on wont make up for your daddy issues hon.

lorretta u: If you read my earlier post, you'd have seen where I stated clearly that I don't support abuse of power by women. Neither do I support on sex lauding it over the other

I'm just interested in helping in my own little way to eradicate the suppression of women because they are termed 'the weaker sex'

Since I don't support injustice or unfairness, how do you think I'll support a man being robbed of his child?

As to your question,it seems feminism now has many Definitions.
So how do I say I'm a feminist without you misunderstanding me?
i just described to you what they have become now and the picture the society have of them.the society is paying the price.a huge distrust and discontent between men and women.men losing their kids and fortune to sly women exploiting what they have created.and the kids are non the better.growing up without a father and a family robs hard on any child.even worse for a man. And there you have the reason for their crime rates.offcourse you dont support men losing their kids so does no man support oppression against women but men arnt creating movements to oppose your own form of oppression, wicked treatment and evil against them.its not a term to be proud of believe me.
RomanceRe: For Those Who Don't Know What Feminism Means by troy20(m): 1:14pm On Nov 19, 2013
lorretta u: I didn't sound bitter or angry in my post why are adressing me in such manner?

If I want to be pretty and admired, does that mean I deserve less treatment than a man?
I'm sure you too as a man would like to be admired for some qualities you have. Does that make you less than a woman? Does that have anything to do with equal treatment when compared to another person?

FYI I don't support the man spending alone in a relationship. I don't know where you got that idea.a woman can and should contribute too.

If men don't do well in schools, how is that the women's fault? I thought many men say the malefolk are smarter.now you're saying this. Who do I believe?

My idea of feminism is that when people are being hired for a job based on smartness, may the smartest people get it. Male of female. Devoid of sexzual bias. And of course if I am concerned about the welfare of students in schools is this the thread for it?
You do have a knack for derailment.
Pls get your act together. Thanks

Pls someone get us back on the topic.
i'm not derailing the topic.just because i dont see your point doesnt mean am angry.i'm just telling you what feminism has produced so far and the identity crises the movement suffers.have you researched upon those countries with strong feminist beliefs?are you aware of there social lives now.it all began like this.are you aware of the laws that are robbing male parents off there children and alimonies they pay for life?.are you a feminist?
RomanceRe: For Those Who Don't Know What Feminism Means by troy20(m): 12:55pm On Nov 19, 2013
ogugua88: Do I have to be like men to get the same pay, benefits, respect, and advancement opportunities if we have the same education/qualifications? Isn't being a human being enough?
and who is denying you that.what constitution has those laws denying you all that.it all begins like this.

Joavid: Then you know nothing about the ideologies of this modern day feminists.
they have no idea what they are pursuing
RomanceRe: For Those Who Don't Know What Feminism Means by troy20(m):
lorretta u: Op never mind some replies you get here
I think anyone with sense
knows that feminism isn't about granting women superiority over men

Knows that feminism is mostly about helping the suppressed gender(women) find their lost voices. Though some men might still fall under this category

Knows that feminism is about equal human rights.and not favoring one party over the other

Knows that feminism isn't preaching that the both sexes are the same or alike. But that any member of the both sexes can opt for what is usually associated with the other sex if that what they love to do.

Knows that there is really no problem with any of the postulations above!

But the common truth is that they'd still love to argue with you unnecessarily. And try to twist what you're saying by giving it their own interpretation.

It is well.
you can do with some sense yourself.every society feels some sort of injustice but they live on.have you read up how those strong feminist countries fair now socially? Of course not.you want to be called pretty.you want to sway your hips to your hearts content on the streets and still turn heads.you upload your pics here while the guys ogle at your b.o.o.bs.You want to be reminded how beautiful you are again and again when upload your pics here.and you sure do love to be ogled at-i noticed.you want a man to pay the bills on a date.you want to enjoy all these as you draw your terms.these are also what feminist like you fight against.it began with your fighting violence and oppression against women like every girl born is taking at birth and thrown to the lions and like the society is not figthing it.statistics has it that females are larger and best performers in school.your concern, (if you had a good head) should be for the poor male population and performance in schools.
RomanceRe: For Those Who Don't Know What Feminism Means by troy20(m): 5:58am On Nov 19, 2013
ogugua88: Of course women will be stronger in certain aspects. That's why they're women and men are men. Men have their strengths and women have theirs. If one was better than the other, then one would be able to survive without the other, yet, that's impossible. Any woman who thinks men have it easy should take a walk in their shoes, and vice versa. None of it is easy.

Anyway, I agree with your post. smiley
be it mental or physical, you cant compare there strength.and you are making much of a deal with the carrying a baby for nine month.you seem to be trying hard enough to play down what it takes to be a man.its so sad what it has become realy.
RomanceRe: For Those Who Don't Know What Feminism Means by troy20(m):
De Beauvoir: Gender equality is here to stay. Your accepting or rejecting it will not change that fact.
Look at you, you have even gone as low as calling women 'things'. Do you have a mother? Sisters? Daughter etc? Because when you refer to women as things you are also saying that your mother/sister/daughter etc are nothing but things.
i was refering to your movement...whatever it is as the "thing".the gender is equal but where naturally assigned different roles.you dont want to be identified with these roles anymore.feminism is breeding suspicion, distrust, hate among genders already in those feminist countries, go read up.you dont know what you are asking for.there has been gender unrests historicaly no doubt.feminism is just faning the flames now.i hope you win.and your tongue might not be enough
RomanceRe: For Those Who Don't Know What Feminism Means by troy20(m):
confused women.i never knew a thing with more identity crises.why dont you all just wear it like a tag now so we know whom is and who is'nt.nature might not have been perfect but i think the gender placement of male and female roles and the way it all turned out was the best balance it could achieve.you want to be treated as men, then you forfiet your rights to be seen as women.since you are now men.countries with high feminist rates are paying a certain price for it already.their men go out to other countries to find real women.i believe you dont support gay marriages but your movement is no different.the most feminist countries denmark, norway, sweden have the highest divorce rates.and i read an artical about how their men are becoming feminised; lacking the assured confidence of men.those countries, though amonsgt the most developed and stable, will head downhill intime.Afterall whats a society without STEEL
