Image123: If i start with you now, people would start pitying you. ehn? Who determines what is valid and what isn't. Is it just to say/declare something valid by 'word of faith'? We both know you guys never thought Ihe's points were valid. Only Candor is thinking so now which is news to me. Anyways, keep in line with the thread na abi you find this more interesting to discuss than your F points?
I find it interesting that, like Candour said:
All you've been doing since the start of the thread is throw snide remarks here and there without saying anything worthwhile all in a bid to push the discussants off course.
Or can you point at one constructive remark on the subject matters made by you?

POINTS TO PONDER FOR: OLAADEGBU, Image123, Bidam & Co

Today’s Tithing – A Fraudulent Ponzi Scheme (Apologies Frosbel)

When questions are asked and they are ignored or answered with ‘this has been answered before’ even when a simple one sentence answer will do, it is a pointer to the fact that the person actually admits that what the questioner is raising IS TRUE but he is REFUSING TO ADMIT that a better position has been given.

The following cannot be ignored by tithers:
- Those who preach it TODAY largely resort to Malachi 3.
- Malachi 3 has its basis in the Law of Moses.
- How the Law of Moses (which Malachi 3 referred to) prescribed that the tithe be observed IS NOT FOLLOWED BY THOSE WHO PREACH TITHING TODAY.
- Those who preach it today have for some STRANGE reasons MODIFIED how tithing should be done today WITHOUT ANY SCRIPTURAL BACKING.
- In other words, there is NO BIBLICAL BASIS for what those who practice tithing today go about it.
- Those who insist on COMPULSORY TITHE today have refused to ACCEPT that there is sufficient information for how the New Testament believer is to give.
- Those who insist on compulsory tithe today ONLY HOLD ON TO Malachi 3 and Abraham’s tithe as the justification for what they do (of course, plus ‘testimonies’, visions, etc) while REFUSING TO DO OTHER THINGS prescribed by the same LAW OF MOSES or other practices found in the Old Testament.
- They have therefore bought into the LIE of those who claim ‘God told them’ fresh things or ‘God gave them’ fresh understanding of Malachi 3 on how to tithe, what the storehouse is today, etc.
- Also those who hold on to tithing today cannot clearly show from the Bible how the tithing they practice TODAY (emphasis on today) came about.
- That is why they resort to claiming that since NT writers referred to the OT then it is right for them (even where the NT writers did not clearly say so) to go back to the Old for any practice and ‘adapt’ it for use today.
- They shift between COMPULSORY and VOLUNTARY for the reason that they do not want to admit what the NT stands for when it comes to tithing but want to SATISFY THEIR CONSCIENCES on what they have accepted from their MoG so that ‘perchance’ if God brings it up on the last day they will be able to hold up a scorecard to God that they have not defaulted.

Take a look at the following:
Question:
trustman: In all honesty, how did the Bible say tithing should be done?
Answer:
OLAADEGBU: If you are a child of Abraham then follow his example. Simples. wink
Question:
shdemidemi: How are you the child of Abraham- by flesh or by the Spirit
It can't be by flesh since you are not part of his physical offspring, right?
Answer:
OLAADEGBU: The answer is obvious. cool
Question:
shdemidemi: Give the obvious answer pls.
Plus, I asked you if Paul taught the gentile converts to Christianity how to tithe, whom to give it to, and what percentage of their wages to give. If he did, please show me.
Answer:
OLAADEGBU: Who taught Abraham how to tithe? If you are a child of Abraham you will know the why, who, when, how and what to tithe. Simples. wink
After a while OLAADEGBU ‘disappears’ and posts other unrelated issues.

Now, what can any sane person make of this? Delusion at work? Has Christianity now veered off into the realm of mysticism that somehow ‘imparts’ knowledge mysteriously? Or do things only to avoid divine retribution?

Anyone who claims that Malachi 3 is binding on the Church must understand that Malachi 3 DOES NOT STAND ALONE. It draws from the original instructions by God on tithing. Do those ones who use Malachi 3 today even know and understand what God’s original prescriptions were? I doubt that they do. To the extent that they don’t, they cannot even apply it correctly today.
We end up then with followers who are perpetually scammed and preachers and organizations that end up fleecing the sheep in the greatest Ponzi scheme in the church today.
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings by trustman: 3:25pm On Jul 27, 2014
Image123: Olaa said we should be faithful in tithes, offerings etc. You brought up Deuteronomy asking him if we should practice is faithfully as written there. He then posted a devotional(which you say you agree with) that explains how that passage applies today. Simple.

That was the basic thing i said. Your reply should logically border on whether he truly did or he did not. But you responded by asking me about four or five questions on like three passages. i'm not interested.
When a person begins to dodge direct answer to questions one can suspect that he may be unconvinced about the position he claims to hold.
I want to believe that in all honesty you're going about tithing the way you do it today because you accepted what a 'moG' or your church told you, not because you truly see is as what the Bible clearly instructed. The revelation of the 'moG' which is outside what the Bible prescribed, you believe, must be the new understanding of how to go about tithing.
How, even with the several decades of church history given to us in the Bible, we see no mention of the church tithing and anyone today will still claim it is compulsory beats the imagination. Are you following the pattern laid down in the Bible by the apostles or 'new revelation' by man that has as its true MOTIVE getting in as much money into the church as possible for the use of the 'men of God' and 'image laundering' for the church.

Gombs: And yet, no scripture in the Bible can be brought out by a select few, a scripture condemning tithing or those who do. But some folks make it a point of duty to fight it day and night, come rain come shine.... and freely insults tithers, pastors, churches and yet claim sainthood! undecided
Tithing for Israel was in order just as animal sacrifices for them was in order. But when Christ brought in the new order those things changed. They were no longer compulsory for the New Covenant believer. Therefore anyone who INSISTS on them today is being deceitful to say the least and EVIL when one really looks at the dimension of their propaganda.

ayam waitin for an answer
It is tithers who refused to pay their tithes that were actually referred to in the portion you allude to in the Bible. Those nations and peoples who were not required to tithe were not called robbers - only those who were to pay but refused to pay.
Is there instruction for the Christian to pay tithe compulsorily today? No!
Do those who claim to tithe today follow God's exact way of doing it? No!
Is there anywhere in the Bible where the place and those to receive tithes were changed? No!
When a man or an institution today decides to change God's prescribed way for tithing to suit his or their pockets will it be right to refer to such as fraud and scam?
When those same people live "their best lives now" while the rest of their congregations are just scrapping to go through life, should we clap for them? - ... ... Your answer please!

Image123: Convince you? Sorry, i do not even know you, neither was the post referred to initially directed to you but to demisquare. i told him that Tithing CAN BE a freewill form of giving. He asked and you asked HOW. In your words, "Kindly explain how that is possible." So, very sorry i wasn't thinking of convincing Starboard beyond shadow of a doubt when i made that statement.
If you understood my statement, then why did you say to kindly explain how? Your question is what made me say that you did not understand, and i proceeded to oblige you with an answer/explanation. On what i 'really think', i'll keep that between me and God. It is not for you to be guessing or fantasizing on what i really think.

i said tithing CAN BE done free will. Just like i can voluntarily decide to circumcise my children or no. There for instance is the command to pray without ceasing. Many christians pray of their freewill. Some other religions must pray at certain fixed times and frequencies. To them, they feel condemned if they miss that prescription. It is not really so with the christian despite the command. That is free will, that is voluntary. Meanwhile some fellows, families and fellowships might practice a specific time to observe prayers maybe family devotion or during church service. This illustration is meant to show/ explain that PRAYER can be voluntary and can be coerced etc. Same thing with circumcision, same thing with tithes. i never said that some people are not coerced to tithe. For those that read me, i've consistently maintained that wrong use or abuse of a thing does not automatically call for disuse. i'm not oblivious that there are wrong practices and teachings on prayer, or on tithe, or baptism, or on virtually every christian subject. What i'm particular about is what does the Bible say, not what sentiments say. Does the Bible say not to tithe etc. Again, i'm tired already of all these tithe talk, especially as it is the usual circles, and often involving the usual suspects and threads. Most of what you may say or ask has already being said and answered on this very thread and its sister threads.
You'll have to forgive me, i might ignore further discussions expect where i see necessary. i do not have such unenviable ministry of tithetalks, and it removes nothing from me if the whole world don't tithe.

Maybe its just this post, but i think your mind reading skills are v.poor. Stop trying to look into my thoughts.

Exo 35:4 And Moses spoke unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the LORD commanded, saying,
Exo 35:5 Take ye from among you an offering unto the LORD: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the LORD; gold, and silver, and brass,
Exo 35:10 And every wise hearted among you shall come, and make all that the LORD hath commanded

It is as clear as clear, the Lord COMMANDED(verse 4 and 10). Verse 5 shows the WILLING heart. This is a COMMAND for a WILLING offering. You don't want us writing this in Hausa or Ibibio for clearer understanding, do you?

Sorry, i'm not here to speak for or against your church. The truth remains that Tithing can be given willingly irrespective of what your church thinks or practices.

cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy This is the one they call "laugh and go". that's what i should just do, really. i gave you two Bible passages where a specified command was done freewill.
-Those passages(Exodus 35 and Leviticus 1) are Old Testament Bible commands, the command to tithe is also found in the Bible.
-The commands were specific, bring gold, and silver, and brass, blue, purple, scarlet, fine linen, goats' hair, cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock without blemish. He shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted. Tithing is specific, bring a tenth.
-Despite those two passages being commands and specific, the people still gave voluntarily of their free will even in the OT. How much more in the New Testament period of grace. Yet in all their willing voluntary cheerfulness, they couldn't go bring elephant or snake head, or limestone, or fish scales. They even had to put the hand on the head of the burnt offering for it to be accepted. And on and on. Permit me to stop here. If you do not understand what i've said in many words, good luck with whatever you do. i understand you are not a child, however do remember that that is an essential quality required in the Kingdom.
Is this the same Image123 who teamed up with Rhymeyjohn to take part in the theological discuss on tithing with Mark Miwerds and Candour?
Christianity EtcRe: Word Of Faith - The Movement's Doctrine And Proponents by trustman(op):
MY SUBMISSION ON F8:TITHING

Bring ye all the money into the church offering plates
that there may be cash enough for ‘God’s anointed’!

We hear or read it all the time: ‘Bring in all your tithe into the God’s storehouse!’, ‘God gave HIS best for YOU, so you should give your best to Him!’, ‘Give so that the windows of heaven will open with BREAKTHROUGH MIRACLES for you!’ etc The coining of such propaganda statements is never-ending.

Tithing was instituted under the Mosaic Law. At the first Council in Jerusalem, which dealt with whether the Gentiles were required to OBEY the Mosaic Law, the divine position was this: “For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay on you NO GREATER BURDEN THAN THESE requirements: that you abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.” (Acts 15: 28-29).

How come then that many leading preachers particularly in the WoF movement aggressively push the issue of tithing with the carrot approach and where that does not seem to work for them go for the STICK? Is that position given by the Holy Spirit at the Jerusalem Council still relevant for today or has it been set aside? The issue for the Christian therefore is this: “Whose report will you believe?” Is it the position of the infallible word of God or the teaching of men? If the word of God says ‘no burden’, whether of tithes or firstfruits, etc and man says ‘You must pay tithes, firstfruits, etc’ which one do you want to choose no matter the eloquence in presentation or glowing testimonies of results of following man’s methods? The issue is that of either freedom in Christ or a yoke of slavery by men.

One of the most tragic aspects of this Word of Faith movement is that most of the people involved have never taken time to really study to see if the doctrines of the movement have Biblical support: they have simply brainwashed themselves into accepting the propaganda spewed out to them. This in my opinion is truly unfortunate.

Why did God institute the tithe?
The tithe was used basically to feed the Levite priests (and their families) who were required to work in the temple day and night ministering to God on behalf of God’s people.
Numbers 18: “21 “I give to the Levites all the tithes in Israel as their inheritance in return for the work they do while serving at the tent of meeting. 22 From now on the Israelites must not go near the tent of meeting, or they will bear the consequences of their sin and will die. 23 It is the Levites who are to do the work at the tent of meeting and bear the responsibility for any offenses they commit against it. This is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. They will receive no inheritance among the Israelites. 24 Instead, I give to the Levites as their inheritance the tithes that the Israelites present as an offering to the Lord. That is why I said concerning them: ‘They will have no inheritance among the Israelites.’”

1 Chronicles 9:33: “33 Those who were musicians, heads of Levite families, stayed in the rooms of the temple and were exempt from other duties because they were responsible for the work day and night”.

In contrast to the other tribes of Israel who were given land as their inheritance, the Levites were not given any land. God was their inheritance – Numbers 18:20: “The LORD said to Aaron, “You will have no inheritance in their land, nor will you have any share among them; I am your share and your inheritance among the Israelites”.. As a result, the other tribes were required to provide the Levites with food since they had no land of their own to farm on. This provision of food for the Levites became the tithe.

Now, when it comes to the church, has God specifically given this same kind of instructions? The answer is NO! Is there anyone in the church that God has commanded today not to do any other work but work in the ‘temple’? The answer again is NO! In fact, there is no physical temple for the church today. Rather the individual believer is now the temple of God – “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?” (1 Corinthians 6:19). The much application we can make is that, if tithe were still obtainable today (and it is not so), the place to bring it is to the individual believers. Again, which of the tithe proponents preach this today? None!

It must be noted that there were later on other types of tithes which others ate from and the fact that NOT ALL IN THE LAND of Israel paid tithes.

We shall examine below some of the arguments advanced by tithers and see how far they conform to the Word of God.

The “Abraham paid tithe to Melchizedek” Argument (Genesis 14:18-20) – Tithing by ‘faith’?
Abraham’s tithe to Melchizedek is used as a justification by pro-tithers for the Christian to tithe. The mention and link between Melchizedek and Jesus in Hebrews 5 – 7 is also used by them to rationalize its import into the New Covenant. However, a close look at Hebrews shows that the author is NOT writing in support “tithe” though it is talked about a number of times. Instead, by comparing Jesus to Melchizedek the writer is EMPHASIZING Jesus as our eternal high priest/king. Nothing in that portion suggests the need for or a continuation of tithing. In fact, the writer of the book of Hebrews actually talked about the end of the Levitical priesthood under which the issue of tithing obtained. Another thing to note from Genesis 14:18-20 is plainly that Melchizedek did not ask Abraham for a tenth of the plunder. How is it then that today’s ministers can read Genesis 14:18-20 and use it to ask for tithe, when Melchizedek did not ask for a tithe? In addition nothing in the Genesis passage suggests that God gave it as a command to Abraham to tithe as He did with circumcision.

The “God Does Not Change” Line of reasoning
Some others say that since God does not change the tithing He instituted still stands for today. But is this really so? While it is true God does not change, it is a poor argument to use on behalf of continuing the tithe. It is true that God does not change but first, what does that mean? Does it mean once he institutes a system he is not at liberty to change it or that his NATURE is unchanging? Secondly, if the reasoning that “God Does Not Change” is a valid basis to keep one part of the Law – the tithe – then it is a valid reason to keep ALL of the law ( see Galatians 5:3 ). Then we should have Burnt offerings and sacrifices on the altar of every church! Even tithing of money is totally alien to Scripture so then we should not tithe money. Why should anyone use that argument to justify keeping only ONE aspect of the Law.
When God set up the LEVITICAL PRIESTHOOD He set aside the previously existing system of family priesthood: So God can change a system. When the Levitical Priesthood was instituted EVEN A KING could not take up the priestly function as we find in Uzziah’s case in 2 Chronicles 26: 16 – 23. It was that serious to God.
Believers are now under the New Covenant of Grace, and are subject neither to pre-law customs, such as in Abraham’s day, nor the ordinances of Mosaic Law. Those dispensations are past. Only deceitful preachers still claim we’re under at least ONE of the 613 laws of Moses! Why the focus on ONE of the laws without clear explanation as to how that one law still stands and the rest have become obsolete (since none of the rest is pushed by them as they do tithing)?

Rebuke of the Scribes and Pharisees case
Jesus reprimanded the Scribes and Pharisees for painstakingly giving a “tithe/tenth” of their “mint, dill and cumin”, while disregarding the more important matters of the law: “justice, mercy, faithfulness (Matthew 23:23).

Once again, there are several problems with using this scripture to support the tithe as applicable to Christians today.
• Giving a different interpretation of “mint, dill, and cumin” (food items) to mean “money”. Why convert food items as tithe to money as tithe?
• Jesus was speaking directly to the Scribes and Pharisees – who are Jews – under the Mosaic Law – and obligated by the Law to tithe. Jesus was NOT talking to Gentiles (non-Jews).
• Jesus makes it clear that the "tithe" is a "matter of the law". Since Christians who are “In Christ” have fulfilled the law in Him (Colossians 2:8-23) the Law is NO LONGER applicable to Christians.

On the issue of the threat of death and hell
Many of the WoF preachers in Nigeria have used this threat approach to coerce their hearers or readers to pay tithe. Name ANY of the famous names in the Word of faith movement worldwide or here in Nigerian and you see those who use this ‘guerrilla’ tactic to pressure Christians to pay tithe. They put believers on guilt-trip even where the Scripture says they have been called into freedom.
If the Christian were still required to obey any portion of the law for him to avoid death or hell, then the death of Jesus on the cross did not pay the full price for sin. In that case we cannot say ‘Jesus paid it ALL!’ But it should be clear to any Christian that our salvation depends on faith alone in Christ alone and not upon the observance of any law. Why therefore any minister will teach anything in the law as the spiritual life for the church makes one wonder whether these are ministers of the New Covenant or of something else. Yet Paul clearly stated in Galatians 3: 10 – “For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse …” (SO WHO IS REALLY UNDER A CURSE ACCORDING TO THE NEW COVENANT?) Galatians 3:11 – “Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith” So again the question is: ‘If refusal to do tithing will take one to hell what does that say of Jesus’ death on the cross?’

How come no tithe preacher does Acts 2:44, 45 and Acts 4:35?
Here the Bible says “And all who believe were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and DISTRIBUTING THE PROCEEDS TO ALL, AS ANY HAD NEED”(Acts 2:44,45); “And laid it at the apostles’ feet, AND IT WAS DISTRIBUTED TO EACH AS ANY HAD NEED” (Acts 4:35”
We see that whatever was received by the church was shared with all, at least those who clearly had needs. But no tithe preacher today does this; rather he would be the one to determine how to use it for ‘ministry work’ which almost always excludes the believers who are right there with him in the local church.
Many prosperity preachers present the idea that ministry requires physical structures - vehicles, buildings, equipments, etc. Maybe, but those items and ministry are not the same. Those items do not accomplish ministry - people accomplish ministry. In fact, the church did not have physical structures until hundreds of years after it began. The reality is that if each believer in any congregation is equipped to do ‘ministry’ work through the taking in of sound doctrine more results will come to such a local assembly than ‘organized’ programmes.
How come no preacher of tithing emphasizes the fact that church age believers are all ROYAL PRIESTS and so are equally qualified to share in or receive of the tithes that come into the church? After all, is we are to apply the OLD TESTAMENT setting it was ONLY the priests and Levites that received tithe, therefore Christians as God’s royal priests today should ALL share in the tithes.

What the Law demands
For those who choose the route of keeping the law, of which tithing is a part, God’s requirement for getting a pass mark is 100% adherence to ALL the requirements of the law. This was the point James 2: 10 makes clear – “For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it”. The Law required strict adherence to ALL its tenets. Whoever keeps most of the law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it. So, failing in one point, as far as the law was concerned, means breaking ALL of it! Therefore any Christian today who keeps one or two aspects of the law such as tithing and thinks he is accepted by God on that basis is making a big mistake. So if you tithe, you are obligated to keep the whole law. That is what the Bible says. Maybe you can now begin to see the seriousness of this matter!

No Apostle wrote the church to tithe
Apostle Paul, the writer of the book of Hebrews, Apostles Peter, James and John all wrote to church age believers, yet not one of them wrote on this issue of tithing that many today claim will be of great “blessings” to the Christian who practices it or some others say can be a “curse” that could take the Christian to hell when not done. How did they ever come to miss out on this so “important” matter?

The plain truth is that all that is truly critical or important for the Christian way of life has been given to us in the writings of these apostles. On the other hand anything not given to us by these men but propagated today as critical to the Christian’s spiritual life is man-made and will be wood, hay and stubble at the evaluation throne of Christ.

The Christian stands on a better footing today
The giving of money by the Christian is part of his worship of God. In giving then, the Christian is expected to stand upon the grace relationship he has with God (2 Cor. 8:1, 7) not on any forced system.

The guideline for Christian giving to God today is found in 2 Corinthians 9:6-7: "Now this I say, he who sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he who sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully. Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart; not grudgingly or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver."

Those principles in the law still required for today are certainly found in the New Testament epistles. And in the epistles we find that tithing, like Sabbath observance and animal sacrifices, is never imposed on the believer. To the extent that tithing IS NOT PRESCRIBED ANYWHERE IN THE NEW TESTAMENT EPISTLES we can safely say that it is no longer compulsory for the Christian today.

To insist that the Christian (not the Jew or Israel) is required to pay tithe today when no portion of the Bible states so is a great perversion of scripture. To seek through all kinds of gimmicks to force the believer to do that which God himself has not stated is nothing but downright EVIL.

I REST MY CASE ON F8, FOR NOW.

The truth about “holy laughter” is not the SET-APART [HOLY] SPIRIT but a kundalini deceiving demon

There is much going on in Churches that many believe is the SET-APART [HOLY] SPIRIT but it is not. What people are doing is allowing demons to use their bodies. What is shown in the video [link at bottom of page] about the holy laughter/kundalini spirit is some of what I experienced in workshops that taught new age mysticism but used the words “God/Jesus/angels” so people felt safe. However, the people who taught these workshops did not believe in the Bible as the Word of ELOHIM [Hebrew word for GOD and who I believe is FATHER/SON/SPIRIT] so their “God/Jesus/angels” were different. Christians/Believers in the MESSIAH [CHRIST] were participating in these workshops and being deceived along with everyone else. I even saw a tamer version of “slaying in the spirit” being done by hands being laid on people in a Catholic Church and it was attributed to Mary [Miryam is her true name in Hebrew]. While some of the people in the Catholic Church and most of the people in the new age workshops collapsed on the floor when hands were put on them, the experiences of the people in the new age workshops looked to be more intense: they had visions/heard voices, some could not stop laughing, some talked in tongues [and understood each other], healing occurred, and bodies moved around but not by the people themselves. We all had sinned and opened the door for demons to use us and our bodies. We all were deceived.
Hand drawn pictures of Mary being sold at the Catholic Church during the “slaying of the spirit”, reminded me of pictures people in the new age workshops had of “avatars” – spirit guides that were helping them. I had my own that I painted when I was 21 and really into science fiction/fantasy. I eventually started meditating and praying/invoking in front of it. I was told in the workshops that she was my higher self, and that I was originally a Pleiadian from that star system before I came to Earth, and that I was in Atlantis and was an “old soul” with many reincarnated lives. Google “images of Pleiadians” and you will see many tall, slender, pale complected beings either male/female/or androgynous with long or short white hair. Mine was a female fitting that description and I did not see any of these images when I painted her, I just drew and painted what came to me. I know now that the painting was really the harlot who is called wickedness, who the Bible talks about frequently and is called the “queen of heaven” in Yirmeyahu [Jeremiah] 44:17-25 and 7:18. Mary is not the “queen of heaven”. This is the title of a pagan goddess not a Hebrew handmaid/lady servant. I also about fell over when reading Yesha’yahu [Isaiah] 47:2 in the Lamsa translation of the Bible which is from the Aramaic Peshitta [Aramaic is a sister language to Hebrew and it is the language the MESSIAH spoke]. It is the only translation of Scripture I have found so far, where in regards to the daughter of Babylon [which is another of the harlot's names] when she is being chastised, she is told to “cut your white hair”! Do you remember me mentioning white hair on the new age avatars? All of these beings are actually a representation of the harlot, whether male or female or genderless, the harlot is behind them all. When ELOHIM woke me up from what I was involved in and I accepted HIS SON as my Saviour again [this time understanding much more of what it meant], I “repented/confessed” of what I did while worshiping ELOHIM’S enemy and asked to be washed clean in the MESSIAH’S blood. I cut up the painting and had it burned and had everything else associated with the worship I had done destroyed as well.
ELOHIM is very clear that we are to discern by HIS word. There is nothing in HIS word about HIM doing any of the above actions to HIS people through HIS SPIRIT. While speaking in tongues is Biblical, it was preceded by people hearing a rushing wind and seeing tongues of flame around them [Acts 2:2-3]. Has this happened to anyone you know who says that they speak in tongues? Have they asked in prayer if it is HIS Spirit or a deceiving demon? After what happened to me, I try to remember to go to HIM about everything. I ask HIM if it was HIM or if it was HIS enemy trying to deceive me, to make it very clear to me, to protect me, and in YHWH’S NAME [YAH's NAME - many Bibles use the word "Lord"] which HE gave to HIS SON, may the MESSIAH rebuke the enemy from me [Y'hudah - Jude 9 and Z'kharyah - Zechariah 3:2]. See this for more information http://glclifestyling.com/2012/01/17/hello-world/
The deception in the world is incredible. I try not to go by my own understanding but to go to ELOHIM instead. A good book to get is by Ray Yungen called “Many Will Come in My Name” which goes into deceptions of the enemy in society and another called “A Time of Departing” which goes into what deceptions are infiltrating churches. Ray even told me he met a Baptist woman who had clucked like a chicken in church and believed the SPIRIT did it to her! The links for both books are below. When I was in Israel I met a man from Germany who watched the video [link below] and told me afterwards that it confirmed for him that what he saw in his Church in Germany was not the SPIRIT. He sent family and friends the link to look at for themselves. I saw in a Church in Israel women who experienced kriyas and saw visions of the lion of Y’hudah roaring. Both types of experiences are talked about in the video [link posted below].
Ask Our ABBA [FATHER] in Heaven for the truth of what is going on if any of this is happening in your church, and for HIM to bring down anything that is of the enemy, and heal what has been done. Anyone who has experienced this should confess and repent of being used by demons and inviting them in, ask for forgiveness and to be washed clean by the MESSIAH’S blood, ask for protection, and if there is anything else they need to do to be healed in body/mind/spirit. The enemy is making a mockery of us to our ELOHIM who looks down on all and must be experiencing all kinds of emotions over HIS people being used in these ways. The SPIRIT is probably livid and would like to turn some people into real chickens would be my guess. I also do not believe there is anything mentioned in Scripture about our MESSIAH as our SHEPHERD leading laughing sheep or clucking sheep beside still water!

MY SUBMISSION ON F7: HOLY GHOST LAUGHTER along with slain in the spirit (Continued)

It would appear that today’s Christian’s assessment of God’s involvement in any ministry is when so called ‘raw power’ is displayed. It is also interesting that whatever manifestations takes place in services and meetings are accepted as been from God without any reference to the Bible. No one bothers to see how much such occurrences align with the Bible. None does what the Scripture instructed – “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God” (1 John 4:1). This command is given because it is possible that, even in the Church, signs, wonders, and experiences DO NOT necessarily come from God.

The next experience which WoF folks seeking spiritual high go for, claiming it is outpouring of the Holy Spirit, is ‘holy laughter’.

What Is Holy Laughter?

This refers to spontaneous, uncontrollable laughter erupting within congregations, even during times of solemn ceremony or messages from the pulpit. Also reported are uncontrollable weeping, falling to the floor in ecstatic trances, and animal noises such as barking like dogs, roaring like lions, staggering and gyration like drunken people and unable to walk a straight line. But laughter is the paramount phenomenon exhibited.

Again, is laughter a gift or fruit of the Spirit? Galatians 5: 22, 23 says:
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Nowhere here do we see laughter listed. So where do these folks get their ‘experiences’ from? Many in WoF circles will prefer a more exotic expression by the Holy Spirit and where He doesn’t give such they create the ‘experiences’ themselves however.

Proponents of these phenomena say they are evidence of a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit in response to the people's desire to see a new manifestation from God and a prelude to a possible out breaking of a revival.

Pertinent Questions
Is there any account in the Bible that persons were uncontrollably laughing, laughing in a crowd of worshippers, or falling down unable to stop laughing?

Since self-control is a fruit of the Spirit, can that same Spirit lead the believer into an uncontrollable state? Will God ask the Christian to behave orderly, be self-controlled and decent then make him act as if drunk, laugh uncontrollably, or engage in some other eccentric way?
Jesus was given the Holy Spirit without measure yet not once did we find him engaging in these kinds of acts. Did Peter, Paul and the rest of the Apostles and the church with them indulge in any such acts?
1 Corinthians 14: 23, 24 clearly tell us how the church in worship should act even with consideration for how the unbeliever perceives her. Are we to be still governed by that today or has the mandate changed?

Closing Words
One of the distinguishing thing between Christianity and eastern religions is that while those religions advocate for the giving up of one’s will or even consciousness to either ‘connect’ with the ‘force’ or god, in Christianity it is the opposite: the Christian is called to use his mind, to renew his mind and not be drunk but rather be filled with the Spirit.

As mystical beliefs, pagan practices, and eastern religion techniques continue to infiltrate the church, one thing is clear: a growing number of well-intentioned (but naïve) believers will continue to misplace their faith and money—deceived anew by the lure of the Serpent's "new anointing"

Worship is a very important thing to God and so how His people come before Him is not taken lightly by God. That is why the scripture has clear directives on how to come before the Lord. The Christian must therefore be careful that he does not mix the holy with the profane when he comes before God.

I REST MY CASE ON F7, FOR NOW.

Goshen360: That scripture that talks about "giving to those ministers of the gospel" is grossly abused and taken out of context. Please, investigate that scripture and see if that temple system still applies today for the SAME principles to also apply. Paul, also mentioned a giving that is from the cheerful heart, is tithe an example of such or of a commandment, convenient or not?

So, what happened was, Paul, drew example to parallel a grace based giving under the new agreement of grace. You can't live in the USA and operate by the rules, regualations and laws of Nigeria. Also, there're examples in the old but we can't make our balance with them of old. Scripture says, without us whom Christ died, they of old are imperfect\not complete....we're complete in Christ.
Very well said.

”Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared ..”. (1 Timothy 4:1-2)

“Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure”. (1 Timothy 5: 22)

Slain in the spirit: Is It Worship or Is It Entertainment?
A picture one sees in many churches that believe in this phenomenon is when people come forward during a service for prayer or some form of ‘ministration’ and they are then touched on the head or shoulders or blown upon by the pastor or some other ‘minister’ and then they fall to the ground. Sometimes the fall is accomplished by a wave of hand by the preacher in the direction of a group of people. This is called being 'Slain in the Spirit'; and those involved in such sessions see them as an obvious sign of God at work in such gatherings.

Participants attribute what happens to a response to the power, or "anointing" of the Holy Spirit, under which an ordinary person is unable to keep standing. Many partakers believe this experience brings both physical and emotional healing, deliverance and/or an anointing by the Spirit.

This phenomenon has gained unprecedented popularity within the WoF circles, where EXPERIENCES are highly sought after, and is, in fact, often seen as a sign of the spirituality (or anointing) of a minister who is able to impart the Spirit with a touch.
Is this another ‘gift’ of the Spirit; a new gift not among those listed in Scripture?
What does 1 Corinthians 12: 1 say? – “Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed”. So, can we get a ‘new’ gift of the Spirit the Bible did not inform us about? The answer is an absolute NO!

Any sensible Christian, when faced with any kind of experience, particularly unusual ones, which is claimed to be from God, should go to the Bible to see if he can get any biblical support or justification for it. However, where emotions rule as in the WoF movement, this is hardly done.

Does the Bible support the experience of being "Slain In The Spirit?
Many WoF adherents will readily claim that the experience has scriptural support. They are usually quick to look for ‘words’ that will support their position. For example, if the ‘word’ they are looking for is ‘fall’ or ‘falling’, they look for where such words are and then find a way of using it to fall in line with their position. There is no record in the Bible where this practice, as done by the WoF people, happened. Neither do we find the kinds of ‘manifestations’ seen in today’s phenomena.

Again, like I have previously mentioned, for a people that elevate experience above knowledge/the teachings of Scripture, this fact will be readily disregarded by them.

Another issue that should give any thinking Christian cause for concern is that these events are not restricted to Christians. Unbelievers have reportedly experienced same within and outside the church sessions.

It is interesting to note that in virtually all the incidents where we find people falling down in the Bible they were both in full control of their senses and still aware of their surroundings. We know for sure is that there is absolutely no Biblical record of the Apostles ever 'slaying' anyone else in the Spirit or even speaking on this phenomenon. The experiences in scripture had to do with verifiable spectacular or supernatural encounters which today’s experiences do not line up with.

In our "WIIFM" (What’s In It For Me) world of today WoF adherents have, as usual, taken the focus off God and His Word and placed it on self... what they feel, what they experience, what benefits them.

A Look At Kenneth Hagin’s Narration of The Experience
Here are quotes from two books by Kenneth E. Hagin:
“Stay drunk on the Spirit of God! You can get so drunk on the Holy Ghost that you stagger around like a drunk man.”
“When you get drunk on the Spirit, you laugh, and don’t have a care in the world.”
- “A Fresh Anointing” by Kenneth E. Hagin, RHEMA Bible Church, 2001, pages 47-48

There is nowhere in the Bible where the filling of the Spirit on Jesus or the Apostles led to staggering like a drunk and going on to laugh.

“When I started laying hands on the people during that seminar, they started falling everywhere. The anointing on me was strong.
After ministering that night, I wobbled around like a drunk. I couldn’t get to my car unaided, much less drive it home. Somebody had to drive me home and help me out of the car. They got me a big recliner, but it was two hours before I got back to normal and could get up out of the chair and walk.
This is one reason I get away from the crowd in healing crusades. The anointing seem to settle down in my legs like that and I can’t walk.
Also, when I’m ministering under that anointing, I’ll tell people, “Don’t talk to me.” You see, if I get back over in the natural, mental realm, I’ll lose the anointing”
- “UNDERSTANDING THE ANOINTING” by Kenneth E. Hagin, RHEMA Bible Church, 1983, page 141

There is nowhere the Apostles ministered and as a result became physically incapacitated as described here. Jesus and the Apostles were always in their natural senses when they ministered. Jesus even conversed with some of those he wanted to heal, whether of demon possession or other ailment. Why would someone ‘lose the anointing’ because people talk to him?
The question is ‘Who is at work – God or man?’ If it is God’s power reaching out to the people why would it have to weaken the minister? Certainly God’s power can reach directly, can’t it? Why should the minister have to suffer for the expression of God’s power?

Where the Focus should be
Many Christians today pay only lip service to the Word of God preferring to use it to “support” their viewpoint rather than to first seek to get what it stands for so as to conform to what it says.

The basis for living our spiritual lives as Christians must be the Word of God. When the Word is neglected or rejected as the yardstick for the spiritual life of the Christian, ‘experience’, heretical teachings/viewpoints and emotionalism take over. However, the two cannot mix. It is a case of either one or the other.

Pursuit of the miraculous, the feel good, and mystical experiences turn the focus away from God to what man wants. Apart from the Word of God any resort to emotional stimulation will only result in spiritual impotence.

2. Hooting like Owls.
3. Walking like chickens.
4. High Pitch whine reminiscent of a lively horse!
5. Mooing and Crowing.

7. Women going through imaginary birth pangs.
8. Hopping like kangaroos.
9. Loss of Conciousness.
10. Soaring like eagles.
11. Hissing and moving like a snake.
12. Inability to speak and involuntary body spasms.
13. Kung Fu-like stances. (everybody loves Kung Fu fighting, ehn?)
14. Vomiting in the spirit and holy head-banging.
15. Stripping (Taking off Clothes!).

Did you think for a moment that these were happening in a voodoo session?
If so you’re wrong: these are occurrences in Christian meetings. In case you are wondering then what these are, the answer is this: these are ‘manifestations’ reported in “holy laughter” sessions – for real. What can be the cause of this hysteria that many in WoF meetings get caught up in? Does the Holy Spirit want us to imitate animals? Where in the world can we find support in Scripture for these varied manifestations reported in these laughter meeting? What is the center of attention in these meetings – man, the manifestations or Jesus Christ?

Looks good, feels good … … A sign of spirituality?
Yet another belief and practice of the Word of Faith Movement is Holy Ghost Laughter along with slain in the spirit. These phenomenons have become very popular and are, in fact, much sought-after experiences in the WoF circles. They have become a distinguishing feature of the meetings of many well known WoF preachers since they (more especially slain in the spirit) are often seen as a sign of the spirituality (or anointing) of such ministers.

So what are these ‘manifestations’? What do they do for the individual believer as well as the body of Christ in general?

The Final Authority
As we have repeatedly pointed out, the final judge in any issue or controversy in spiritual matters is not what took place in this ministry or that, or what this MoG or that MoG said but what the Word of God says. When faced with any kind of phenomena, particularly the unusual and weird, which is claimed to be from God, any sensible believer will first go to the Bible (rightly divided) to see whether there is any Biblical basis for what is taking place. No more, no less.

So the million naira question is .... Is There A Biblical Basis For "Holy Ghost Laughter" or Being "Slain In The Spirit?

DrummaBoy: MY SUBMISSION ON F7: HOLY LAUGHTER

Question: "What is holy laughter?"

Answer: The term "holy laughter" was coined to describe a phenomenon during which a person laughs uncontrollably, presumably as a result of being filled with the Holy Spirit's joy. It is characterized by peals of uncontrollable laughter, sometimes accompanied by swooning or falling down to the floor. Firsthand accounts from those who have had this experience vary somewhat, but all seem to believe it to be a sign of a "blessing" or "anointing" of the Holy Spirit.

The experience of holy laughter is, by nature, a subjective one. Therefore, in an effort to find the truth of the matter, we must try to be objective. When our definition of truth depends upon our experience of the world, we are a very short way from becoming entirely relative in our thinking. In short, feelings do not tell us what is true. Feelings are not bad, and sometimes our feelings are aligned with scriptural truth. However, they are more often aligned with our sin nature. The fickle nature of the heart makes it a very unreliable compass. "The heart is more deceitful than all else, and is desperately sick; who can understand it?" (Jeremiah 17:9). This deceitful-heart principle is specifically applicable to the phenomenon known as "holy laughter." There is no doubt that people have indeed begun to laugh uncontrollably at revival meetings. That is a fact. But what does it really mean?

Laughter is addressed a number of times in the Bible. Often it is used to describe a mocking or scornful response, as was the case with Abraham and Sarah who laughed when God told them they would bear a child in their old age. Some verses use it as a sign of derision (Psalm 59:8; Psalm 80:6; Proverbs 1:26), and still others make pointed statements about the nature of laughter itself. Solomon, for example, made the following observation in Ecclesiastes 2:2: "I said of laughter, ‘It is madness,’ and of pleasure, ‘What does it accomplish?’" He then goes on to say, in 7:3, "Sorrow is better than laughter, for when a face is sad a heart may be happy." Proverbs 14:13 says the reverse: "Even in laughter the heart may be in pain, and the end of joy may be grief." Both of these verses are true: a sad person may laugh to cover his sadness, and a person may cry although he is inwardly happy. So, not only does emotion fail to give us truth, but we also see that laughter is not always indicative of joy. It can mean anger, sadness, or derision. Likewise, the lack of laughter does not automatically mean sadness. Laughter is clearly subjective.

The most convincing scriptural argument against what is called "holy laughter" is found in Galatians 5:22-23. It says, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law." If self-control is a fruit of the Spirit of God, how can uncontrollable laughter also be a fruit of His Spirit? Revival leaders claim that being filled with the Spirit means that we are sort of "tossed about" by His whims. But the idea that God would make people act drunk or laugh uncontrollably or make animal noises as a result of the Spirit's anointing is directly opposed to the way the Spirit acts, according to Galatians 5:22-23. The Spirit described in Galatians 5 is one who promotes self-control within us, not the opposite. Finally, there was no one in the Bible more filled with the Holy Spirit than Jesus, and not once does the Bible ever record Him laughing.

In light of these things, it is profitable to take a look at the following passage from 1 Corinthians 14, where Paul talks about speaking in tongues: "But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking in tongues, what will I profit you unless I speak to you either by way of revelation or of knowledge or of prophecy or of teaching?" (v.6).

"For if the bugle produces an indistinct sound, who will prepare himself for battle? So also you, unless you utter by the tongue speech that is clear, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will be speaking into the air” (vv. 8-9).

"What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. If anyone speaks in a tongue, it should be by two or at the most three, and each in turn, and one must interpret; but if there is no interpreter, he must keep silent in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God" (vv. 26-28).

"...for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints" (v. 33).

In those days, many people in the churches were speaking in languages that were unrecognizable to others, and, therefore, Paul says they were useless in the church because the speaker could not edify others with his speech. The same could be applied to holy laughter. What does it profit (Paul asks) unless we speak to one another with revelation, teaching, knowledge and truth? Again, he says, "Let all things be done for edification." He caps off his argument by saying, "God is not a God of confusion, but of peace," which makes it clear that he does not want the atmosphere within the church to be one of confusion and meaninglessness, but one of knowledge and edification.

It seems, from what Paul is saying, that which is called "holy laughter" would fall under the category of what is "not edifying" to the body of Christ, and should therefore be avoided. We have recognized that a) laughter is an unreliable emotional response; b) it can be a sign of several different emotions; and c) it does not accomplish anything useful. Furthermore, uncontrollable spasms of emotion are contrary to the nature of the Holy Spirit. It is advisable, therefore, not to look to "holy laughter" as a means of growing nearer to God or as a means of experiencing His Spirit.

MY SUBMISSION ON F6: JDS (i.e. Jesus Died Spiritually)

BabaGnoni has given details of how WoF teaches on Jesus Died Spiritually. These include that Jesus took on the nature of Satan, was dragged to hell to be tormented of Satan, became re-created in spirit and born again. Here we will see how the Scripture portrayed the how and the what of Jesus’ death on the cross.

“Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” – John 1:29.

John the Baptist made this statement referring to Jesus. Here John refers to Jesus as ‘the lamb’. In this picture John hoped to vividly show Israel what Jesus represented. In particular Israel was to be immediately reminded of both the ‘Passover lamb’ and other lambs, usually males, used in the Levitical offerings.

The Levitical offerings foreshadowed the work of Jesus Christ on our behalf. God specified in the offerings what were acceptable to Him. In particular the animal sacrifices were to be “without blemish”. In other words, without any defects – (cf. Hebrews 9:14, 1 Peter 1:19).

In these offerings we see God sparing the guilty sinner and accepting a substitutionary sacrifice. Once the animals met God’s requirements they were acceptable to him as offering. Jesus Christ became our substitute like the animals were in the rituals for Israel.

Jesus personified the ‘male without blemish’ required in the ritual sacrifices, and offered himself to be judged for the sins of the world; "How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God” (Hebrews 9:14) See also Hebrews 10:1-14.

When Jesus was being judged for the sins of mankind he did not become less than perfect. In other words, He did not become less than “a lamb without blemish”. If that were so, he would be disqualified from being an offering that was “a sweet savour unto the Lord (cf.Leviticus 1:13).

Therefore Jesus did not take on a satanic nature at the cross. As the sin offering under the New Covenant he remained pure, righteous and holy on the cross.
• 1 Peter 3:18 – “For Christ also suffered once for sin, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death
in the flesh but made alive in the spirit”
• Hebrews 10:10 – “And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all”
• Colossians 1:21,22 – "And you, … …he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless
and above reproach before him”

None of the thieves on the cross could have satisfied God the Father’s requirement for a perfect sacrifice – none of them! The efficacy of any death in producing the result that will satisfy God depended on the fact that that life offering itself up in death MUST be “a lamb without blemish”. No other human being could qualify to be that. If that does not make you realize and appreciate the greatness of Christ’s work on your behalf, nothing will!

Just as God showed through the Levitical offerings under the Old Testament that an acceptable substitute had to be “without blemish”, Jesus Christ, the reality that the rituals represented, was a pure and holy offering under the New Covenant. At no time did he acquire a ‘nature’ that would have made him an unqualified sacrifice to God for humanity’s sin problem.

Also Satan DOES NOT LIVE IN ‘HELL’; not now, not yet. So a portrayal of physical hell as Satan’s abode for now has no support of Scripture. If he were in control there – in hell – that will contradict the fact that it is a place of punishment that God himself administers to the unregenerate. Would we assume than that God is in partnership with the Devil on this?

If what the Word of Faith proponents' claim regarding what Jesus became is true, then that would mean that Christ’s work on the cross was not effective. But that is not so because in the book Revelation when Apostle John wept he was calmed down and told “… … Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals” (Rev. 5:5). In the subsequent verses we see who this ‘Lion of the tribe of Judah’ is; he is the one who was “slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God”(v.9). Jesus was a perfect sacrifice from the beginning to the end. At no time did he become imperfect then to later regain ‘perfection’.
