How, for a jittery second, can we swallow hook line and sinker whatever we are told by those at the top of religious (or if you like spiritual)organisations?
I mean, if they were all perfectly right, there wouldn't be so many denominations all pushing different interpretations of the same thing and not agreeing with themselves.

So, if these pastors/imams don't also ask God questions, how do they get answers that they share with us? Or probably, they don't ask in the first place, maybe thats why every one's got their own opinion

Why do we quickly say "touch not my annointed" when issues rise up, when we are literally not touching the person?
Who is the 'anointed', is it only the pastors (in the case of the christians)and not the followers?
If the followers are also the 'anointed', then why do we not hesitate to 'touch' them mercilessly, while not 'touching' the top guns?

Where did the 'trinity' concept come from? I've read my bible over and over again -front to back (not many of us have done this). It makes no mention of a 'trinity'. The closest was Christ's great baptismal commision. Is this not a 'fleshy' concept that dwells mainly on heirachal structures?

fortunately this is where i fully agree with you, although i disagree with some other things you say.
Christians dont know how shallow they sound when they say that they are good because of fear of eternal punishment in hell. So if there is no hell, they will not be moral.

I dont believe in hell and still i do good because its the good thing to do, not because i want reward or fear punishment.
Like i said, if i ever return to christianity it will NEVER be because i fear hell, but because i see a convincing evidence that Yahweh is more than a Jewish conceptions of deity (like Arabian conception of deity in the form of Allah), that Yahweh is really existent and answers prayers like the scriptures says about him. Otherwise, i'm done with religion FOREVER AND EVER.
But like you said, its a talk for another day, lets not derail this thread.

for instance, how will you enjoy eternity in paradise when you know that some of your non-chrstian family members are roasting alive somewhere else.
you will be forced to worship this loving god who in his omniscience knows that some of your non-christian family members will reject him and be roasted alive forever.

i will prefer to cease to exist than to live in that heaven.
thank goodness, i just remebered that i'm not immortal and i will actually cease to exist one day one day, therefore that heaven/hell crap is irrelevant and not worth disturbing one's brain with.

Martian: In all likelihood, that's what we ALL get. Your neurons will stop firing and your"soul" meaning your conciousness will cease to exist........................I'm 99.9% sure of this. The .01% is because of the possibility of one of these religions being true and their heaven being real or a "soul" actually being a real thing.

My Quest is, who put those laws in place?

If the laws came by chance then that makes "chance" superior to the laws, if that is the case why has chance allowed the law it put in place to thrive those far? And has not eroded it? Or has chance develope an intelligence of its own? As to know when to stop?

I had expected that chance should continue being at work as it is blind, or is it not, did it know when to retire?
If chance has so developed an intelligence and know when to stop as not to erode the law it put in place, and it is said where there is intelligence then there is a mind and where there is a mind there is a person (brain) are we then saying that chance is a person?

I am wondering if some of the people converted to atheism are too ashamed to come and admit it after some of them have been attacking atheists.

Andromida, I agree that it is no sin to be rich. I was concerned by "it is no sin to want to be rich". While I won't argue whether or not the latter is true, I stand on the fact that the desire to accumulate material wealth more likely than not lands the desirer in all kinds of trouble and temptation. Do we agree on that? If we do, then perhaps it is good advice to discourage an angling after bankloads of dollars, pounds and euros among Christians.

@all, I say we judge the worth of our work by its impact on life around us rather than by the financial rewards it promises. Any disagreements?
