Nobody knows everything bros, I am pretty sure there's aspects of life I know that you have no knowledge about and vice versa as well. For those that do not know me
- I am an atheist who doesnt believe in God and hates going to church.

- A confession is what catholics do so that they can be in a "state of grace" for Holy Communion.
- You confess your sins to a reverend father who then "absolves" you of your sins while you say the "act of contrition"
- The absolution is not complete unless you carry out the penance(prayers + actions of repentance eg- saying sorry to those whom you have wronged) that the reverend father gives you at the end of the confession.



So, back to my story....

So, I went along with my business client to the church for our confessions. During the walk to the church premises, I made up my mind to tell bogus sins. The reason is that I find confession very silly- telling a total stranger all your deep secrets. So, I made up my mind to tell the most obnoxious sins possible to the reverend father. If I was going through the pain of a confession, why not suffer with fun and trolling?

Seated on the queue for the confession inside the church building, I couldnt help but notice the huge crucifix (crucifix is a statue of Jesus on the cross) on the wall. It was a freaking white Jesus with tears of blood from his eyes and a battered body. Then something magical happened- Jesus on the crucifix looked as if he was trying to talk to me- it was as if he was saying "Logicboy, Logicboy, why are you persecuting me with your sins?" , and then, I replied "F4CK you, white Jesus, you Jewish douchebag! You cant make me feel guilty for being human!". I shook off my powerful imagination as it was my turn to enter the confession booth.

The reverend father was an old man in his forties. I smiled and proceeded to start the confession....

And in that we see another contradiction: there is no other God, so Jesus cannot be "a god"; and according to that passage, in effect he can not also be divine.

But let us look at one more place in the Jehovah Witness' Bible.

Deuteronomy 4:39
And you well know today, and you must call back to your heart that Jehovah is the [true] God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath. There is no other.


So there can be no other "God"; thus calling Jesus "a god" is making him a false god.

Uyi Iredia: I understand Goshen's stance and was once there between the ages of 11-14. That's not to say it's childish , it's importance is as Goshen has rightly said: to edify other believers.

In my preteen to early teens I immersed myself whole in Christianity and its theological foundations through the books my Dad bought for his Bible college studies. Um, I don't bother over the theology for now, I'm more concerned with 'vain philosophy', science and other religions and I must say, I'm learning a lot and seeing that some concepts such as Trinity and monotheism aren't entirely unique to Christianity and in fact, Christianity owes a lot to pagan thought which prevailed in the Meditterenean.

Finally, I think some stances atheism, Christianity, Islam etc aren't deeply understood by some adherents (even faithful ones), especially if they were indoctrinated without exposure to other religions or philosophies (hence I agree with Dennet's proposal that religions be taught to kids). Some may simply relate with a religion on a superficial level (and may not prioritize to deeply research its history). Nuff said.
