Quite an amusing gang. Elites don't care anyway. When the world call you a monkey and make life difficult for you, elites will bring out hard currency to buy back their own prestige whilst you will be asked to jump from tree to tree for a piece of overripe banana. Shior.

Forgotten Facts : Nigeria’s Ballistic Missile Program. Part II. / Forgotten Facts –the Day U.S And Nigerian Soldiers Jointly Kicked ASS In Somalia / Forgotten Facts: The Day Nigeria And Cameroon Almost Went To War Part 1.
FAMILY.

In the late 1970s, shortly after the civil war and early 1980s, a permanent drought ravaged the entire African Sahel. This led to the deaths of thousands. Thousands more emigrated from one region to another freely despite existing inter state borders. It is in this context of crisis that Nigerian populations begin to occupy certain Cameroonian and Chadian islands arising as a result of the drying up of Lake Chad.

But we must realise that for those living in this area, the lines demarcating both countries by Britannia were arbitrary as far as they were concerned. The inhabitants have coexistenced for generations, and were for the most part family. If the settlers, especially Chadian populations live in peace, sharing their useful land and somehow endorsing Nigerian domination? Can we really speak of fixed boundaries in this doubly unstable region?

Shortly thereafter, successive military administrators of Borno State supported this occupation by establishing its domination over territories that theoretically were in Chadian soil. Curiously, the Nigerian settlement does not seem to be considered foreign.

In 1962 the Lake Chad Basin Commission was established. Iron bars 10 km distant from each other were erected in the Lake to serve as effective border demarcation points. People from both sides lived in relative peace.

The gradual withdrawal of the waters of Lake Chad began changing the situation.

CLIMATE CHANGE.

Since the dawn of the twentieth century, the Lake has been receding :23,500 km in 1962. 19,000 km in 1973. Thus in the mid-1990’s, over 30 villages have been created by more than 11,000 Nigerians in the Chadian of Lake Chad. The contentious Darak, located 35km east of the border with Nigeria was originally occupied by Nigeria fisherman who followed the withdrawal of the waters of the lake in the late 1980’s.

PROVOCATION.

image nigeriannation.com
On 18 April 1983, in a well planned and rehearsed operation, three thousand Chadian soldiers under the command of Idris Derby invaded and seized 19 Islands in the Lake Chad axis in Borno State. Twenty four hours later six villages in Borno State fell to Chadian troops.

Stunned by this daring unprovoked attack, Nigeria’s President Alhaji Shehu Shagari orders the Commander of the Nigerian Army 3rd Army Division General Muhammadu Buhari to flush out the invaders.

General Buhari, in his capacity as General Officer Comnanding (GOC) augmented his forces with the Nigerian Army 21st Amoured Brigade in Maiduguri.

A skilled military tactician General Buhari resisted the temptation to use Nigeria’s overwhelming superiority in amoury and man power to charge headlong . He knew the Chadians were highly skilled fighters who use their excellent mobility to their advantage. Instead he ordered the Nigerian Army Scout Regiment to recconnitor Chadian military positions.

The Nigerian Army Scout Regiment is the reconnaissance arm of the infantry. Their job is to obtain and disperse viral combat and battlefield information on the enemy under any conditions.

An Army Scout assigned to the 301 Field Artillery Regiment scans the horizon for artillery targets in the vast featureless plains of the Sambisa Forest.
Reports from Scouts confirmed the Generals suspicion. Expecting a massive retaliatory attack spearheaded by tanks, the occupying Chadian troops had prepared anti series of tank obstacles on the likely approaches by digging 10 ft trenches around fortified positions. The plan was to lure Nigerian tanks towards the myriad of concealed trenches, making it impossible to navigate. Once trapped the tanks would then be engaged by concealed troops with anti-tank weapons and RPG’s at close range.

SHOCK AND AWE.

With the Intel gathered by scouts the GOC began preparation for a punitive attack. Taking advantage of the night Nigerian troops quitely moved into flanking positions.
At day break, the Nigerian Army, under the able Commander General Muhammadu Buhari launched a massive operation to dislodge the invading Chadian forces. 4,000 soldiers besieged Chadian forces on three fronts. As Chadian troops came under relentless artillery bombardment from the eastern flank, Nigerian soldiers in the Western axis began their push to link up with the 3rd strike component in the rear, effectively encircling Chadian forces.

As Chadian casualties mounted General Buhari ordered a temporary halt to the advance, to allow Chadian forces an escape route back into Chad via the northern axis.

Stunned and disoriented by the unexpected attack from seemingly everywhere by Nigeria infantry, Chadian soldiers began to abandoned their positions in a disorganized manner and fled the battlefield in droves, leaving their vehicles and equipment behind.

It was at this moment that Nigerian troops, led by General Buhari gave chase to the fleeing Chadian soldiers. To the General, flushing out the invaders was not enough, he was determined to make a bold statement to the Chadians and teach them a bitter lesson.

Nigerian troops crossed the border into Chadian territory and continued its pursuit. Orders from Nigeria’s President to halt his advance fell on deaf ears. Nigerian troops continued its advance until they were 50 kilometres from the N’Djamena, the Chadian Capital. Facing possible court marshal General Buhari stoped the advance and withdrew his forces.

General Buhari was immediately summoned by the President for disobeying a direct order from the President to stop his advance. In his defence the General claimed in the heat of battle he was unaware he had crossed into Chadian territory.

Due to total ignorance of the decision of the court of appeal yesterday, political neophytes were on nairaland jubilitating that Oshiomole has gone. They blamed Yourubas and Tinubu.

Unknown to them, Oshiomole was reinstated by the Court of Appeal. Tinubu''s letter a day earlier condemning the coupists and Buhari's meeting APC governor clearly show that the coupists were on their own.

Any time they say it is over for Tinubu, hetc comes back stronger.

Politics / Making Obi VP Candidate Is Tribalism! by TRUTHTOPOWER: 9:26am On Dec 17, 2018
What is the reason for choosing Obi as the VP candidate of PDP? It is tribalism. believe it or not. there are over 250 ethnic groups in Nigeria. But choosing anyone from the three major ethnic groups to be President or Vice President is Tribalism.

the hypocrisy here is for you to celebrate tribalism under the guise of population and achievements when it favours you and for you to condemn it when it is against you.

henceforth, Nigerian minorities should see the choices from the big ethnic groups as tribalisliatic choices. anyone from the big ethnic groups should never ever again complain of tribalism!

Politics / IPOB Resurgence On The Eve Of Election: Masterstroke! by TRUTHTOPOWER: 9:11pm On Oct 19, 2018
11 months. IPOB went underground with the disappearance of its Chief Priest, Nnamdi Kanu.
why it held sway, it promoted Biafranism as follows:

1. Nigeria is a zoo
2. there must be a referendum for separation of Biafra from Nigeria.
3. No referendum no election.
4. Anyone trying to unite Nigeria or participate in Nigeria Government that includes a Biafran is a Unity Beggar.

Kanu was powerful and loyalty to him was absolute..he earned it!
he was going to stand in the way of Anambra election until the python dance. and the rest is history.

The "non unity beggars" became weary in the absence of Kanu.
ahead of 2019 elections they have abandoned all the creed of Biafranism..

1. They no longer proclaim Nigeria as a zoo. They have their PVCs to vote under the Nigeria supreme constitution.
the constitution under which they will.vote says Nigeria is CANNOT be broken up (indisoluble)

2. No need for referendum before or after election. since referendum after election is not a campaign promise of their preferred candidate. At any rate, it is against the spirit of the constitution their candidate must shall swear to uphold if elected

3. They are now begging the rest of Nigeria for unity.

suddenly the high priest Kanu returns to the stage. what will he do:
1.abandon the struggle and join politics like Ojukwu? stand
2. Rekindle the fiery passion Biafranism?

whatever he does, will his people follow him? time will tell.
sit back and watch. this is Game of Thrones.

Question should be what was the condition of the economy when she came in

https://www.google.com/amp/s/guardian.ng/news/23-states-owing-workers-says-labour/amp

When economy was "properly" managed when oil was selling for about 100 dollars per barrel. 23 states were unable to pay salaries for 7 to 12 months. When economy was "poorly" managed fewer states now ow salary.

If by Economy we mean the transparent organization of human behaviour vis a vis ends and scarce means, Nigeria had NO ECONOMY.

On the other hand, you could argue that Nigeria Economy was so good that 23 states were unable to pay salaries before May 2015!

However Nigeria had NO ECONOMY when Kemi took over. Any economy in which 7trillion could be saved from or where over 50,000 ghost workers earned salary was NO economy in the contextual sense of the word.

Abba Moro gave recruitment contract to cronies under dubious arrangements. Nigerian youths were defrauded up to the tune of a billion naira. Many lives were lost and many were fatally injured. Reason: adequate security for nearly 1 million youths was not provided. Unemployed youths paid for government employment that was obviously not there! If we are to choose between a party who engage ministers with questionable NYSC certificate and and that engages Ministers defrauding the citizenry, I will choose the former.

@Dr.Joe Abah on Twitter

1. Full implementation of the Treasury Single Account. When the TSA was piloted under the previous govt, it saved the government N103 billion between 2010 and 2013. With full implementation from 2015, TSA had saved the government N7 TRILLION as at April 2018! Argue with facts!!

2. Voluntary Asset and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS). This raised the number of tax payers from 13 million in 2015 to 19.3 million in 2018.
3. Efficiency Unit of the Federal Ministry of Finance saved the govt N34 billion in Travel and Transport alone in 2017 compared to 2016

4. Efficiency Unit saved the govt N24 BILLION on Staioneries and Consumables in 2017 alone compared to 2016.
5. 5. Mrs Adeosun instituted the 22 conditions for states to get bail out funds which improved fiscal responsibility. Admittedly, this wasn’t perfect and needs more work.
6. The Development Bank of Nigeria was established and made operational.
7. The Whistleblower Policy led to the “blowing of 8,000 whistles”, which has led to 10 prosecutions, 4 convictions and the recovery of N14 billion. N440 million has been paid out to 14 people as a result.
8. Linking the BVN to the government IPPIS Payroll System has seen the uncovering of nearly 50,000 multiple salaries. These are not ghost workers but public servants collecting multiple salaries. In one case, one public servant was collecting 20 salaries!
9. Mrs Adeosun instituted the Presidential Initiative on Continuous Audit which sought to clean out the personnel records of government Minsities, Departments, agencies and parastatals. Ironically, it exposed many people with fake degree certificates who were shown the door.
10. The linking of BVN with IPPIS meant that, for the first time, we are able to identify who is benefiting from the creation of ghost workers. We now know who is collecting the salaries. More than 100 people re now being prosecuted by the EFCC for benefitting from ghost workers.

There are many people blaming SW leaders especially Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting PMB. According to them, Asiwaju and Yorubas burnt theit fingers by uniting with CPC led by PMB. 2019 is here and the time to choose is now. For those blaming SW, what do you expect them to do.
1.Give up VP to SE?
2. Trust that PDP will find a comfortable backseat for SW?
The question is what do you think any party can offer SW that it has not gotten already between 1999and 2019?

then you don't know how SE feel about APC.. which state in the SE will APC win? IMO state? where the citizens are at loggerheads with the governor for trying to impose his Son-in-law on them?
So APC is going to get 1.9million votes from Kano again ryt?
You don't know SE people when it comes to money and voting, you should ask around very well. indeed SE loves money but are but can't sell their conscience just like that
stop been emotional with politics and check out the odds, it's a 50/50 probability for the two parties.

You see. You are the one being emotional. Voters burning kwakwanso caps are also emotional. Support for Buhari up north is majorly emotional. That is why neither you nor core Buhari voters on the other side can see any objective analysis once the conclusion is against you.

APC came second in Anambra which was a heavily monitored election. Buhari winning the presidential election is the only reliable armour in arsenal of all candidates of APC governors and legislators. So if Buhari loses they are all at risk of being vanquished. So Buhari MUST be delivered by all means necessary.

PDP lost in 2015 not because of what happened on election day but because of what happened the day Buhari was made the candidate. All that was needed is for INEC to read the hand writing on the wall. Just as APC cannot win SE and SS in a free and fair (if not credible) election so also can PDP not win SW. NW and North East. Only half of this 3 voting block will give who ever controls them the edge in any election.

So don't wait for election day like Fayose did in Ekiti. Elections are won by alignment of de jure and defacto incumbents. The ruling party has more incumbents to work for it in THEIR own interest. Quote me in February 2019!

@Butterflyleo, let me categorically tell you this, if you are really in SE or SS you will definitely be marvelled at what is happening. I'm from Abia State and my cousins and their friends that joined APC in the village said they did so based on the fact that APC is sharing money more than PDP and that come 2019 they are still vote for PDP because APC has no place in our side. even one of their rallies I went to I was only laughing at the way the were scampering for the money to be shared. then in the city where I live, if you have ever heard of Ikuku Abia then you will understand that APC is just learning the politics of Abia.

Then coming to AKS where I'm doing my compulsory 1year service,i have registered over 15 people here into APC via their online registration , they keep saying that APC is going to share more money than PDP because of their desperation to clinch unto power. so understand this, the reason your seeing more people venturing into APC is because of the money and not the party.

I have a friend from Ebony state who is a staunch member of APC with a portfolio at the local government level, the guy keeps saying that he knows that APC is not going anywhere in his state and all his friends that he brought into APC were only convinced that they will make money as there is enough money to throw around by APC. that he himself joined APC to be relevant enough to get money.

so calm down, it's not everyone that says "MY FATHER, MY FATHER will make heaven. and it is not of him that runneth"

APC DOESN'T NEED TO AND DOES NOT INTEND TO WIN MORE THAN 4 OUT OF THE 11 STATES OF SS/SE. ANY VOTER WHO COULD APPEAR IN ANY RALLY FOR MONEY IS CAPABLE OF BARGAINING WITH ANY PARTY AGENT ON ELECTION DAY. THE QUESTION FOR THE VOTER IS: WHAT WILL I GAIN OR BETTER STILL WHAT HAVE I GAINED IN SUPPORTING A PARTICULAR PARTY.

APC MAY WIN JUST 3 KEY STATES IN SOUTH SOUTH (INCLUDING EDO) AND RETAIN ONE STATE IN SE.
But the greater damage to is in total vote count. No more 1 million plus vote for PDP anywhere. I will consider it a commendable feat PDP gets up to 7 million votes in the whole of Nigeria.

Politics / Re: Buhari Didn’t Want Alliance With Tinubu In 2013 – Galadima by TRUTHTOPOWER: 7:11am On Jul 30, 2018
Mrakeli:

The Chairman of the Reformed All Progressives Congress, Buba Galadima, said President Muhammadu Buhari was against forming an alliance with a former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu, who had nominated Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as Buhari’s running mate before the 2015 elections.

He also said he blocked the Serving Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, from becoming the running mate of Buhari during the build-up to the 2015 Presidential election.

Galadima said this during an interview with ‘The Interview’, an Abuja-based monthly magazine.

He, however, said he was the one who insisted that he would not sign the correspondence to the Independent National Electoral Commission unless Bakare’s name was removed.

Galadima said, “Buhari was the one who was against the alliance with Tinubu and I don’t want to say anything. Let Buhari deny what I have said. I was for it and I organised it and I wrote a memo and even produced a candidate for the Vice-Presidency, this same Osinbajo.

“We were a committee of three: Osinbajo, Sule Hamma and me. Sule Hamma promoted the alliance more than anybody else. It was Buhari that refused. Let him deny before us and we will show him. Whenever you see him, ask him why Buba Galadima said he wouldn’t sign INEC’s form with Tunde Bakare’s name.

“I don’t want to say much. Buhari cannot challenge all these things we are saying.”

The R-APC chairman said his disagreement with the President was based on principles and not selfish interest.

He said it was Buhari, who gave out his (Galadima’s) daughter in marriage, adding that his grandson was named after the President.

Galadima added, “There are no differences between Buhari and me. My daughter visits him in the Villa. He gave out my daughter in marriage. Her first child was named after him. What we are doing is on the basis of principles.”

The R-APC chairman said he would not blame those around the President but only Buhari.

He said he would not blame the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, or Buhari’s nephew, Mamman Daura, because the buck stops on the President’s table.

Galadima added, “I don’t believe in any inner circle. The buck stops on Buhari’s table. If Buhari says he doesn’t want to see Mamman Daura or Abba Kyari or any other person, they will not spend two seconds in the Villa.

“So, if there is any inadequacy or shortcoming, it should be that of the President, not an aide. After all, they can only advise. They can’t force his hand. For example, the Nigerian ambassador was in Israel and was said to have attended the official opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem.

“And there was this huge outcry by all Nigerians because this is counter to Nigeria’s policy on Israel. Buhari said he would investigate. Now it has been three months. Where is the result of the investigation?”

Buhari’s undoing, he said, was responsible for the gale of defections that hit the ruling All Progressives Congress.

But the President Muhammadu Buhari 2019 Presidential Campaign Organisation has dismissed the defection of some APC lawmakers and other members from the party, saying it will not have any negative impact on Buhari’s re-election.

The group, in a statement on Sunday by its spokesman, Festus Keyamo (SAN), said the defection of the lawmakers and the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, would not harm the President’s re-election.

He stated that even if two more governors, who were said to be planning to defect, left the APC, it would not affect Buhari.

Keyamo stated, “The President won with wide margin in the past in some states without the support of majority of the politicians from those states who moved recently to join the opposition party.

“Also, we are all witnessing the significant gains Mr. President is making in several places where he lost in the past, notably in the South-South and the South-East.”

According to him, 12 northern states of Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Yobe and Niger have 30 million registered voters.

He said that these “are states the President had consistently won with considerable wide margin in past elections, especially in 2011 and 2015.”

This, he said, was achieved despite the fact that most of those states were being controlled by political parties other than his own.

“In 2011, when the President was in the Congress for Progressive Change, despite being states with sitting opposition governors, National Assembly members, state assembly members and local government chairmen, the President posted close to 11 million votes against all odds, defeating all his rivals in these 12 states.

“In 2015, despite the majority of these states being in opposition after the merger that formed the APC, the President posted close to 11 million votes again with the PDP not scoring up to 20 per cent of the votes.

He recalled that in Kano, during the 2011 presidential election, the President scored 1,624,543 votes as the CPC candidate, while in 2015, he had 1,903,999 votes as the APC candidate.

Keyamo also analysed the effect of defections in nine states Buhari lost in 2011, but won in 2015. These, he said, included Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Kwara, Kogi, Adamawa and Benue.

He stated, “The five south-western states have registered voters strength of more than 14 million out of the about 20 million voters in these nine states. Today, those five states are being controlled by the APC. Ekiti will join before the 2019 elections after the Governor-elect, Kayode Fayemi, is sworn in.

“All the political gladiators in those south-western states that helped to tilt the election in favour of the President in 2015 are still solidly with him and more have joined. The entire defunct ACN structures that moved into APC are solidly behind the President.”

Meanwhile, some members of the House of Representatives on Sunday described as “laughable,” the current moves by the APC to stop the Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, from defecting to the PDP or any other party.

The lawmakers spoke under the aegis of Parliamentary Democrats Group, dominated largely by the PDP members and other opposition party members.

They spoke after their meeting in Abuja. They expressed surprise that the APC suddenly began to appreciate the worth of Dogara amid the gale of defections that hit it since last week at the National Assembly.

In a statement by its spokesperson, Mr. Timothy Golu, the group advised the APC not to waste its time as the Speaker would leave whenever it pleased him to do so.

The group also said Dogara would remain the Speaker upon defection as the APC alone did not have the two-thirds majority (240 out 360 members) to remove the Speaker.

“It is a futile one and a sheer waste of time. It is laughable that the APC is running cap in hand, begging the Speaker to remain in a party that has for so long failed to acknowledge his relevance and contribution to its existence…

“Nemesis has now caught up with the party as the Speaker and other men of conscience have decided to pitch their tents with a party that recognises that the collective gain of Nigerians is greater than a few primordial interests.”

There were indications over the weekend that the APC had initiated a reconciliation meeting between Dogara and the Governor of Bauchi State, Mr Mohammed Abubakar, to settle their local political dispute in the state.

The Speaker is from Bauchi State. The APC’s alleged indifference to the disputes, which weighed heavily against Dogara, was the main reason the Speaker sought to dump the party.

However, the ruling party was said to have intensified reconciliation moves since the emergency of Adams Oshiomhole as the national chairman and the start of the latest defections.

But, the PDG urged Dogara to ignore the APC and defect to another party as soon as possible.

Politics / Part.2 Kemi Adeosun Vs Premiumtimes by TRUTHTOPOWER: 11:32pm On Jul 09, 2018
It will be recalled that we made a legal argument indicating Mrs Kemi Adeosun. Pls read particularly the quote below
https://www.nairaland.com/4604253/nysc-kemi-adeosun-not-legally
TRUTHTOPOWER:
All she needs to show is her application for exemption. NYSC is the one to explain the mix up. And to appologise for causing her any embarrassment. It is her legal right..

NYSC has confirmed Mrs. Adeosun applied for exemption. Hence it is now left for NYSC to investigate what happened and to correct their own system. It is settled law that oncessation an applicant has done his own part by complying with the conditions for an application, any error resulting from responding or purportedly responding to the application is purely an administrative and the applicant cannot be held liable for such error.

Thank you for the answer.

So what advice would you have for someone who already works for an international NGO, has not done the NYSC and wants to be transferred to Nigeria.

Called up back then, posted to Northern Nigeria and refused to go for security reasons as an outspoken atheist.

Apply to serve in NYSC. You can do your service in the NGO.

I usually refrain from insulting people. Arguing against provisions of law is, I am compelled to say, plain stupid.ty.

Claiming Mrs Adeosun forged a document is an infantile heresay that no judge worth his gavel will ever admit as a shadow of evidence let alone evidence in itself.

The paper even claimed she is not entitled to Exemption and gave no legal ground except the general assumption that as a graduate she should have participated in NYSC.

Of course, there is no limit to evil in the hearts of some men.

I am not understanding your English

I am sure it makes sense to you but you are not communicating.
How do you know she is not the issuer? Are you her lawyer?
Stick to factts that you know

The emboldened sentencees are gibberish

The fact I know is the fact presumed by law: she is innocent until accusers produce credible evidence videos, records or eyewitnesses of the process of forgery.

Convictions are not secured by hatred or wailing.

The real question for determination is did she out of ignorance of the above go ahead to forge an exemption certificate and present the same to the senate?

I do not think the outside Nigeria thing is of any relevance whatsoever.

What you think is irrelevant in legal proceedings. An offence has been alleged. The standard of proof is beyond reasonable doubt. Her defence is simply her legal Exemption. The issue of forging your own right is legally ridiculous. At any rate, she is not the issuer of the so called forged Exemption. She has no legal need to get by backdoor what is hers by legal right.

I have a question of my own.

Is NYSC mandatory for a foreign graduate who is on an "INTERNATIONAL CONTRACT" in an NGO in Nigeria?

Is it also mandatory for a similar person, but with a local contract in an NGO.

I'm asking because according to premiumtimes, NYSC is mandatory for employment in public and private sectors in Nigeria and an NGO does not conform to any of both categories.

I would appreciate an honest reply.

cc: TRUTHTOPOWER

It is mandatory for graduates of universities and polytechnics under the age of 30. Employment or no employment.

Discharge Certificate or Exemption certificate is just a condition for employment.
