Paige6533 My advice move on and focus on your future.
If time goes and you guys are still in love as you say and want to get married you can consider that and he may be able to come back but as you are 20 you are too young to be getting tied up in such issues and losing focus.
Also you say in your post if not that you were 20 you would leave with him to Nigeria but you also say he has nothing going on for him in Nigeria. Why then will you think of going back with him?
I think it's lust not love you are feeling and time will tell. As I said if overtime you guys still have the same love for each other the you can consider marriage when you are older and more settled education and career wise. |

Are you claiming the state of our public schools today is what it was when our so called leaders attended? If the medical hospitals and facilities are as great as you say why are our governors and president sill flying abroad to give birth or for treatment? https://www.nairaland.com/3626044/rachael-dickson-quadruplets-arrive-nigeriaPidgin2: Hey, stop listening to stories on the Internet try to get actual experience. I have discovered that most people writing bad things about Nigeria are the frustrated folks who would rather cross to Europe through Lybia than to be productive to themselves.
You say we don't have running water here? Well, that's a big lie, we do. And if anyone does not then they can supply their own water by digging a bore hole for themselves or their communities (no one pays tax for this and you get constant water for life once this is done). They can form groups to achieve this if funds are limited.
Public schools are totally free here too and most of our leaders today attended these schools, people can also make choices based on their budgets on the kind of schools they want their kids to attend, they can also home school if they chose. As for light, we were paying only N87/ltr for fuel to run our gen in 2015, I believe we can get back to that again with good leadership. Some places do have good light supply. Alternative energy like solar and wind is being used privately.
Alternative medicine here is an option which people use (just like in China and India) our grand parents lived very long too. As for Western medicine, some states do give free basic health care to pregnant women and children under 5. Most government and state hospitals are heavily subsidized
Nigeria is not hell, contrary to what you might think so someone earning N400K a month can expand his wealth greatly in an almost tax free country. Everything depends on him and his God |

That is Gary Indiana. When Jackson was born there it was a thriving city, but Gary was a city developed by the Steel industry specifically US Steel and it derived is economic dependence on that company. When US Steel moved form Gary due to globalisation, China etc., the city literally collapsed with many of the residents moving away. It is pretty much a ghost town now with lots of crime. Shame. FrankNetter: The King of Pop himself! Mj was born and brought up in those white houses. It was just so ironical that someone as great as MJ grew up in these streets, I saw the school he attended, I saw the place he and his siblings had their first concerts. The sad thing about it all was that as rich as MJ was, his "village" was basically in ruins.
I was in awe at being so close to where someone as great as MJ was born but at the same time, I was sad he didn't do enough to help his neighborhood. In the end, it was a bitter-sweet feeling.

You really do not understand how the financial system works. Even with a green card you will need to build solid credit history and for a $250k loan hmmm serious collateral. Coming as a foreigner I don't even see how you will qualify for such a loan. It's a different level from a $5k credit card. I totally comprehend what you are saying and my point remains your argument is mute because very few graduates earn N500k in Nigeria. Yes hypothetically a graduate warning N500k in Nigeria is better than an illegal earning $2k in America but please tell me how many graduates you know who earn N500k monthly in Nigeria hence why your argument is invalid. If you want to compare nigeria to America compare like for like. Compare banking salary to banking salary. Compare doctor salary to doctor salary etc don't compare an extreme case in Nigeria to an average illegal immigrant hussle. cosade: I am really surprised that so many graduates are finding it difficult to understand a simple hypothesis.
It's simple!
I said a graduate earning N500,000 monthly in Nigeria is better off than an illegal (graduate) immigrant earning $2,000 monthly in US.
Does that not mean that if you're a graduate earning less than N500,000 monthly in Nigeria then an illegal (graduate) immigrant earning $2,000 monthly in US, is better off?
|
Travel › Re: Yankee: through the eyes of a village boy. by ttmacoy: 7:45am On Jan 25, 2017 |
This comparison is mute, how many graduates in Nigeria can earn N500k. And besides don't forget the $2k a month the guy mentioned was for someone illegal and not a graduate in America with the right papers. Eg Deloitte in the US starts audit graduates on around $55k per annum and for consulting about $70k. Are you telling me most graduates in Nigeria are better off than that? cosade: You're either quoting someone else or quoting me wrongly.
My submission was that a graduate earning N500,000 (half of the equivalent of $2,000) monthly, in Nigeria would be better off than a graduate working illegally in US on $2,000 a month. And I still stand by this. |

Lucasbalo: No one supports civil unrest. The protesters that are destroying properties will be arrested and prosecuted. Meanwhile, civil protests is as American as Apple Pie. A lot of the Republicans you are celebrating now didn't even recognize that Obama was born in America and they thought of Obama as illegitimate President then. So calm down. Well I do not think they are being kept away because they are scared. Trump does not strike me as a guy who really cares if you are protesting or not. Think of the high profile event and the amount of high profile targets that are there and how easy a protest can be used to launch an attack. Keeping them away is more a security decision rather than because they are scared. They have been protesting since election day anyway haven't they? kalindaminda: It's not the security I commented on, it's how scared they are of the massive protests heading their way

H-1B cap exempt jobs are good given you do not have to deal with the over subscribed quota system, but as you may know there are certain requirements to qualify as a H-1B exempt job or employer. So especially if you are in the STEM field getting a job with a non-profit research organisation or university is a good route to get a h-1B visa and later on a green card. H1B Cap Exempt Employers: Who Are they?
The H1B cap does not apply to organizations filing the H1B petitions if they are institutions of higher education (or related non-profit entities), non-profit research organizations, and government research organizations.
Many foreign nationals are not aware that these companies and organizations are exempt from the H1B cap and can sponsor an H1B visa any time of the year.
1.University 2.Government 3.Non profit organizations 4.NGO 5.Hospitals

Travel › Re: Yankee: through the eyes of a village boy. by ttmacoy: 3:46pm On Jan 17, 2017 |
I think Trump may actually be good for the H1 visa programme as it is being abused by companies especially Indian IT outsourcing companies. It is well know the Indian IT outsourcing companies (Tata, Infosys, Cognizant etc.) play a numbers game with the H1 visa and flood the system with applications each year and as you mentioned they pay the workers the minimum they can get away with. This makes it difficult for applicants from other countries e.g. Nigeria. Bossman: Some company (for example the Hospital the Medical Doctor works for or is applying to) has to apply on your behalf. Can't do it yourself. And you have to have some skills where there is a shortage. For example Medical Dortor, computer programming, etc. BTW, As a Computer professional, I work with tons of H1's from India. At my last contract, I met one Nigerian on H1. I was actually shocked! because it's very rare to see Naija on H1. He was a software developer working with the Indian IT consulting company Infosys, and they were the one that applied for his H1. Even he was complaining that he has to be with them for at least 3 years, and that they were paying him a very low hourly rate. Nothing is easy o. That's the way it rolls...the company that does your H1 holds you ransome till you complete your contract.
PS. I was just discussing this H1 thing with my colleagues last Friday. They were worried that with Trump now about to take over, he has vowed to put a stop to all the H1 visas. |
Travel › Re: Yankee: through the eyes of a village boy. by ttmacoy: 1:43pm On Jan 17, 2017 |
There must be more to his story, that is the requiremnets for doctors to file for H1 visa. I am not saying he cannot get a H1 visa as a doctor, he can but he will be getting a H1 visa by an employer/hospital. You cannot file for a H1 or L1 visa by yourself, it must be sponsored by an employer and there must be a job offer. Standard H-1B visa requirements apply to Physicians:
•The position must be a specialty occupation. By definition doctors fall within the regulatory definition of a “specialty occupation.” •The hospital, private practice or public health care institution must pay the doctor the prevailing wage as set forth in the Department of Labor’s (DOL) regulations. •The employer must file an H-1B petition on behalf of the doctor, and the doctor must work for the petitioning employer pursuant to the terms of the approved H-1B status. The doctor may work part-time for more than one hospital if each hospital petitions the physician. Of course, it should be noted that if the doctor obtained a J1 visa waiver in conjunction with the H-1B petition, part-time employment is likely not an option. •The employer must file a labor condition application (LCA) with the DOL. The Immigration Attorney will assist the employer in complying with the DOL’s regulatory requirements for filing the LCA.falopey: I personally know someone that came to the state last year. He got his H1 without working for any company. He was a professional in Nigeria iin the medical field. In fact he is just preparing to take the exam to get his license to practice. Maybe there is more to his story. But I'm 100% sure of is that he was not working for any company to get it for him. In fact, he doesn't have the license to practice yet. |
Travel › Re: Yankee: through the eyes of a village boy. by ttmacoy: 10:08am On Jan 17, 2017 |
Not technically correct, you cannot apply for H1 visa, you have to get employed by a company who them applies for a H1 visa for you or it is the employer who applies for you not just you finish studies and apply or land in America and apply. falopey: If you graduated as a professional in the US, you can apply for H1 visa while you are there and work your way to citizenship. Even if you are a professional from Nigeria, in as much as you have already set your foot on US soil, you can apply and get your H1 based on your profession even before you write exams to get license to practice. |

You don't have to be a dual citizen to steal and lodge money abroad and not many Nigerian politicians who have done such have dual citizenship Pidgin2: Thank you for this candid response. They will no longer steal and lodge their funds in foreign accounts except their plan is to eventually give up their citizenship but here is where it gets better, their kids may also have to give up their own citizenship as there is a saying that "where your treasure is, is where your heart will be" this would spare us from having more of our wealth and position of influence stolen by the children of these wicked people
Another point is that they will be fewer reasons to acquire property abroad except such people are prepared to give up their Nigerian citizenship for that of their host countries(especially in countries where you have to be a citizen to own property) because once they accept their citizenship over there then they seize to be Nigerians. I think this will help us in reducing the effect of the wickedness of some of our thoughtless country men and women who steal here and invest the money abroad |
