You are referring to is financial aid not a scholarship. A scholarship is based on performance while financial aid is for support eg people from disadvantaged backgrounds etc. Irrespective of wether it is aid or scholarship It’s still not clear if this is the professor giving a scholarship or if it is a University Of Oxford initiative. Does the scholarship guarantee admission into Oxford? Even the best graduating student from U of Illorin is not guaranteed admission into Oxford so if he is only providing scholarship and expecting them to apply then it doesn’t make sense. I did a quick check and the scholarship offer is from his personal foundation so while it may be plausible I still don’t see how he expects them to get into Oxford. It may be better if he awarded the scholarship to be used for any university and they can choose the best they get into rather than restrict it to Oxford. Sharplakezy: |
I don’t get this story, when he says granted scholarships to Oxford does that come with admission or will they have to apply separately? If separately then how does he expect the worst performing student to gain admission to Oxford? DrholuwaTOBI: |
Did you apply on the correct site rather than one of the many agency sites? danielayodele16: |
To be eligible a country must not have sent up to 50,000 immigrants in the last 5 years. Nigeria is not eligible because we have sent over 50,000 immigrants over the past 5 years. This rule applies to all countries not just Nigeria and it’s a way of ensuring diversity so they don’t end up with too many people from a single country. ”For DV-2018, natives of the following countries are not eligible to apply, because more than 50,000 natives of these countries immigrated to the United States in the previous five years: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, ...” prico32: |
So if the white lady turned black it will be fine but if otherwise it is racism? Really? And I ask again does that mean Asian skin is better than white skin? You choose to see racism to an advert that was not racist and as I said even the Nigeria model confirmed she understood what the message was. Taking a screenshot and blowing it up shows the level of insecurity we currently have and how people are actively looking for offence. If the advert was done using only white and Asian women we would shout they excluded black women. Also the fact many of the people angry haven’t even watched the advert and have reacted based on the screenshot shows where we are today as a society. We claim to be proud of your black skin yet get offended over something like that. That shows insecurity not strength and pride. Can you answer this question did you watch the whole advert before concluding racism or did you just reach to the screenshoot which was obviously taken to suggest racism? dataking: |
Please stop misinterpreting the dove advert. People just took a snippet and made it into a racial issue when it was not and even the Nigerian model who was featured confirmed same. If you watch the whole advert it was a black lady changed to a white lady who changed into an Asian lady and the point was the product could be used by women of all races but social justice warriors took a snippet of the black lady to white and painted it as it means black skin isn’t good and should change to white. If it meant black skin wasn’t good then why haven’t white women protested that it means Asian skin is better? In this situation yes advertising skin bleaching products isn’t ideal but if we stopped buying them and bleaching then they will not target us. To them it’s a target market, some people in that are so insecure they will rather bleach their skin hence it’s a market. If I was a marketing lead for a bleaching product I will target the market that likes to bleach, simple. Some white women like to tan so much and darken their skin that they look like an orange Donald Trump and guess what, tanning salons and products target them. That is capitalism not racism. Not everything is racism or discrimination. Lalas247: |
I agree with you the video wasn’t racist but we are in a world now where social justice warriors rule and being politically correct is mainstream. Companies and people are so scare to be called racist now that they will apologise ASAP. Dove lacked balls in this case but I don’t blame them. dominique: |
Oh yeah not all but majority. To be honest there is little reason to be homeless in America due to rent unless there are other compounding issues. There will always be cheaper areas which may not be ideal but will still be better than sleeping on the road. Unless there are underlying issues e.g. mental health or something else, if you are willing and able to work there is no reason to be homeless. You may not have you ideal job but I will rather stoop down and do a job I am overqualified for and move to a cheap area than sleep on the street. There are also welfare programs for those who qualify e.g. section 8 albeit it benefits single mothers disproportionately more than men but it is also there to supplement rent. There is also the issue of divorce. You will be surprised to learn this is a significant cause of temporary homelessness for men as the wives end up with the home and kick the men out. owenseddies: |
Many times the homelessness is due to drug addiction which can destroy people and families. There is high homelessness in countries like the UK as well just that they are better at clearing them. I do know there are shelters around US cities but sometimes due to high anti drug requirements people are not able to use them. Summary let's tell our kids DON'T DO DRUGS. I've seen it tear families apart, men will be so desperate they will rather buy drugs than pay their kids school fees. owenseddies: |
Hi were you able to verify if the NPC certificate was genuine? I was also of the understanding you will not be able to get an NPC certificate for births registered before a certain date. Chile12: |
Hey this forum also provides some good insight which can help you understand better. https://www.quora.com/Why-doesnt-a-poor-country-print-more-money-for-itself Ebookmathswaec: |
Tax is higher in Canada and wages lower. You are right about the hethcars but if you have a good job which is more likely in the US you earn more and have health insurance which gives access to better health care in my opinion. The way I see it UK and Canada are better if you are a low earner and US if you have potential to earn higher. Heakthcare is not free in canada it is paid for by taxes. In conclusion you are right if the Op does not have a legal means to migrate to the US then Canada will be better via the skilled worker scheme. Mcslize: |
Not true, there are way more opportunities in the US than Canada. The only reason I will advise Canada is the immigration policies may be a bit easier now not because there are more opportunities. If Kdiva has legal means for the US I will advise US if not Canada may be more feasible via the skilled worker programs. Kdiva, this link is a guide for the legal ways to migrate to the US, if you do not qualify for any of them then focus on Canada which I believe someone has provided a link already. http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Pulaski's_Ways:_How_to_Live_and_Work_in_the_USA lightinchrist4: |
Hey that is a very broad question, at what stage are you in the process i.e. NVC stage or Embassy stage? When it is time for you to fill the DS260, you will be notified by the NVC via email including a link so if you have not gotten notification to fill out the DS 260 then you can't fill it out yet. I will advice you read up on the end to end process using the links below so you are aware of what to expect at each stage. The below link provides step by step guide on what to expect and you will find the link for the DS 260 as well but as you will see in the flow your application needs to be approved and you pay the necessary fees before you will be asked to fill the DS 260. You will also see the required documents listed. https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Submit_Visa_Application.html https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process.html boykas: |
It should be on the National Population Commission A4 sized paper rather than the smaller version we get from the hospital. If it is the NPC version then you are fine. Given you got it from the local government I think you have the right one. Oladeep: |
The first thing she needs to do is read any documents she signed or the company policy on staff loans to ascertain what should happen if she is fired. If it was a loan she should have signed a contract which should spell out what should happen in such a situation. My expectation without having the details is the bank should allow her continue to pay the loan in instalments but I do not expect the bank to write off the loan even if she was fired. She still owes the money. ddestiny145: |
Yes the embassy will only accept the long form issued by the national population commission so you should try to get it from a local government before your interview. It isn't hard to get. Oladeep: |
That's good, i didn't know about the long form one and the NVC approved my application using the smaller one only for me to get to the interview and was asked to provide the lingform version. Only resulted in a few fees delay while I had tk sort out from Nigeria but better to avoid. Glad you already have it and good luck with the wait till you are current. pretty16: |
Yes that is correct. I didn't even know that version existed and went with the smaller one we get from the hospital. I had to go and get the national population commission version and post to the embassy before I was issued my visa. If you already have it then you're good to go, if not try to get it before the interview. pretty16: |
Congrats on getting case complete confirmation . As part of your documents to the NVC did you submit your long form birth certificate? If not my advice will be to secure it before you go for your interview if not it may result in a request for more documents from the embassy. For some reason the NVC did not pick this up in my case and at the embassy insisted I provide the long form birth certificate which up until that point I didn't even know existed. pretty16: |
Kwachuwku is the chairman of the board of directors for NNPC. He should be involved in those decisions. juddexy2: |
Sorry but if everything you've said here is true it is only possible due to the greed and selfishness of Nigerians and our leaders. We are the ones who seek inferior products just so we can overcharge and steal the rest of the money. Look at how we would rather pay for cheap poor quality roads so we can get another contract in 6 months when it is riddled with pot holes. look at how we would go to India and ask for medicine with chalk inside just so we can make more money while selling fake drugs to our fellow Nigerians without remorse. We are the ones who have such short term mentality without thinking about the long term implications of our actions. We are the ones that have run down our educational institutions so much we need them to provide technicians for us. We have run down our medical institutions so much we have to fly abroad for treatment then you complain. We are the ones who have such a poor culture and record of maintenance so please don't blame anyone else. We have no qualms stashing pensioners pension in high interest accounts while the poor people die of starvation. We are greedy, selfish, corrupt and have a poor maintenance culture. We are the ones who decided to focus on the short term oil windfall rather than think long term and use the oil revenue to develop other sectors of the economy. Look at countries like Qatar, Norway etc. They have billions saved for future generations because they recognise fossil oil is not forever, but we chop chop chop that there is not even enough for today anymore. Look at other countries how they used oil revenue to diversify the economy while we focused on selfish short term policies of states waiting to share oil revenue every month. We need to change our mindset and mentality and make the right decisions for the country rather than the best decision that benefits only me today. We need to develop a continuous improvement and maintenance culture in Nigeria if not we will keep throwing money down the drain. And this applies to most if not all of Africa. Look at how countries like Angola are selling the rights to future resources to China for cheap loans or infrastructure which China will build, maintain and control. The reason China and any other country is able to get away with such is because we haven't gotten our acts together and are always desperate for funds. If Nigeria properly invested all it's oil revenue there is no reason to be desperate as to accept very obvious stringent and harsh terms from anyone. zachanalysis: |
Remains to be seen, hopefully if they catch his female accomplice alive she may be able to provide information. At least we know he was a local white man in his 60's so doesn't look to be affiliated to any terrorist group. Who knows why someone would wake up and decide to carry out such an act. hanassholesolo: |
Its seems he was using an automatic rifle and shooting down from the 32nd floor of the hotel. Crazy and so sad how one person can inflict so much damage. hanassholesolo: |
While she won which was expected she didn't do as well as previous elections or as expected, and proof of this is the rise of the far right nationalist party which won 13% and will have seats the first time. It's just like Theresa May claiming to win the election despite ending up with less seats than before the election. Yeah she won but at what cost? It's fair to say her popularity isn't what it used to be and the policy of allowing 1 million refugees backfired a bit. Celcius: |
Even with the taxes it's still very good pay as locum's work via a limited company so they pay less tax and can deduct some expenses. Beautyaddy: |
The US visa availability runs on the US govt fiscal year from October, so they tend to run out of visas as they approach October hence why the priority dates tend to slow down or even stop moving sometimes. You should be able to get your visa in october as I assume it has been approved. Would be worthwhile reaching out to them in October if you don't hear from them. jonjr023: |
Four seasons...The leaves start to get brown and fall off in Fall (or Autumn), and by Winter they have all fallen off because of the cold weather. They start to grow again in Spring and by Summer full bloom. His post was in January so middle of winter. Josh4wod: |
I meant what's your priory date i.e. The date USCIS confirmed they received your immigrant application. cantok: |
You are correct thanks, I forgot to clarify that when I wrote about the f2a category. I have edited the post. chokey419: |
I feel your pain, that's the longest category. At least you're not from the Philippines or Mexico. When is your priority date?

|
