This might sound stupid... but did you do a court marriage? The Uk have high regards for court marriages than church or other marriages. Appealing is the best option but the wait is very very very long... i will suggest you appeal then put in a fresh application and make sure you reference the appeal. Make sure everything they suggested you included them .. and make sure in the additional information box ; please write until you can not write no more..... People under estimate the power the additional information section carry ...

Do a complete check list here i explained how to arrange a document for ECO https://www.nairaland.com/3065395/how-prepare-documents-submission you can read on that and it will help you.

DO NOT FORGET .. THEY CAN HOLD DENY YOU FOR ANOTHER REASON SO PLEASE GET ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY.

Hello guys. I have been a silent follower. Pls I need advice. My review was denied by the ECM reason that my husband didn't meet the financial threshold and the relationship is not genuine but the issue is we met the threshold and above(he is self employed?) we sent them proof of our relationship Skype chat, WhatsApp chat and statement of acc which shows money he sends to me for my monthly upkeep. But they still said it's not enough. We had more WhatsApp chats and pictures but I was living in France where we met, got married and I came back to nigeria for something and decided to apply from here so I lost most chats and phone records. The ECM quoted DR 38 (Morocco) and said we shouldn't bring in more evidence. Since I have been in Nigeria we have been communicating, met and taken pictures together and he has bee sending money for my upkeep, can't we use these? The tribunal asked for more evidence as we choosed paper hearing(don't know if it's OK and faster as I am tired of waiting and the distance is tearing me) Pls advice on what next to do as I am confused. Thanks

Hello house! I learnt US embassy is now detecting fake Dubai passport control. My worry is that my passport is carrying one. I'll be applying UK visiting Visa in couple of weeks, does UK Embassy too confirm /detect fake passport controls? I'm asking this to avoid incidences of rejection.

Thanks

My padi... long time... Hope you winning... You are right .. make she jejely apply for new passport. Just recently the uk embassy sent a friends passport to kirikiri for collection as it has FAKE ghana stamps on it .. ppl have to be very careful now.. the Uk is very strict now..

Lexusgs430:

Jejely go apply for a new passport......... Instant refusal, because your passport in its present form would be seized .......

NB : Not forgetting a 10 year ban..........

Stop over worrying... it is only on few occasions you can be stopped and asked questions... be prepared incase you are stop...this people are human being like you .. just speak to them like you will speak to any stranger politely and let them know due to unforeseen circumstances you could not make it .. not you intend to spend some wuality time with family and also enjoy the beautiful country.

Why do you think the UK government gives 6 month.. on your application you must have applied for 2 weeks or 1 month but they gave u 6 months for a reason.
So stop panicking , prepare yourself , dress decent and be yourself. If you are worrying too much then do not fly pass heathrow then.

Good luck

Any money that goes into the account during your time of application and the money does not seem to have a coloration with your Previous month please kindly explain it in the additional information box or add more information regarding the money even if it is 50 000 naira...that was paid into your account ... except you feel you have not reason to justify it..

But i can tell you i have seen ppl refused for just a silly amount .. I will personally circle any money u r explaining in your account in the additional information. Good luck.

Then mine isn't money lodgement then, Thanks Ekpotek, you and Justwise have been really helpful to me.

I am appalled at some of y'all's replies to people's posts. How difficult is it to be polite and courteous to strangers? Really! Even if you doubt the veracity of someone's story, calling the person a liar and being all crude and superior is not the right attitude. It speaks ill of your character and does nothing to belittle your victim's. Be courteous always. Peace.

Well For visa applications made outside the UK, you’ll have to pay if:

you’re a national of a country outside the European Economic Area (EEA)
you’re applying for a visa to work, study or join your family in the UK for more than 6 months (but you’re not applying to remain in the UK permanently)

For immigration applications made from within the UK, you’ll have to pay if:

you’re a national of a country outside the EEA
you’re making an immigration application for any length of time, including applications for 6 months or less (but you’re not applying to remain in the UK permanently)

You no fit blame this ppl bruv... i was one of the ppl who benefited from free medical when i came to UK in 2010 as a student... and more also so many ppl would have benefited before me or even after me before they started all this IHS fee...

they have paid there dues too one way or the other.. so sorry u have to pay for this .... it might be so unfair to u which i understand but from there perspective they are giving free medicals to a lot of nationals so obviously they have to carry out strategies with the amount of applicants applying to come to the UK....

God go provide the bar for u bruv... stay positive

obabola123:
Hello, can any please tell me what to do about this IHS fee we pay once we arrive in UK. Because £600 is much, what is the purpose of paying this money? Or do we need to go any where to claim it?

I can understand your frustration but maybe if you tell your husband to call it will be wiser....
This ppl wants your money but they have limited staff which is why they have so many backlogs. there have been rise in applications not just from nigeria alone but world wide... so u will have to consider that so please be patient.

Let the applicant call and it will only cost nothing less than 3000 naira . No news is good news so please stay positive and always remember there is two side to a coin...

I have seen situation where someone complained to the UKBA why would they disclose is documents to the sponsor since is document was meant to be returned to him and vice versa...

stay positive and everything will be fine...

Caribbeanwify28:
Hi guys, has anyone experienced this? I called the Visa line for an update on my husband's settlement visa they escalated the case on for me. I received a reply from ukvi stating' We have received the following update from the Decision making centre on your escalated case. The email address......@gmail.com belongs to the sponsor so no information can be given without a signed letter of consent from the applicant.'

To me this is non-sense since I am the one sponsoring my husband to come here, all the financial documents relate to me why can't they give me an update. (this was received last friday 15th July) So, I called like half an hour ago and they still didn't want to give me an update so I asked for them to send the update to my husband's email address. It's now 65days and the HO don't even want to provide a status update.

Overdraft does not matter.. what matters is if you meet the financial requirement ...

Caribbeanwify28:
Hi Guys,
Is it possible to get refused a settlement visa because you have an overdraft or you're in your overdraft?

I thought the HO was just checking that you meet the salary requirements, not sieving through your bank statments.

A decision has been made on your UK Visa application. Your application will be dispatched shortly from the Decision Making Centre in Sheffield, UK. If anyone contacts you advising that your application is still under consideration or that they can influence the outcome of your application in any way, they cannot - please report any such approach to VisaSheffield@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk.

Applications submitted at a Visa Application Centre will be returned there for you to collect.

it is 12 weeks period for you now ...... (monday completes exact 12 week)
Let us see what u hear on or before tomorrow... if you do not get any email before 1 pm tomorrow .. i will recommend you call them...
it should cost u around 3 to 4k naira... that is worth spending to get the exact status of your application.

the straightforward email is mostly sent if they do not meet the dead-on 12 weeks of application.

Well everyone with visa application refused get passport stamped.

All i can tell you is , apply again and make sure u submit originals and build a strong case, be certain u have all necessary documents.. this time... Make sure, you are honest on the application and when asked have u been refused before say YES... and reason .. u can limit it to insufficient documents.

Good luck

Hello Tunderule2016 and Frontpagelawyer. I'm really sorry to bother you guys again but I need help. A quick recap. I'm a student being sponsored by my parents for a holiday. There's a box on the form asking my yearly income. I'm a student and I do not work. Should I give the amount I get as pocket money annually or what?

Secondly, my dad will be scanning me his bank statement as we live in different states us to school and work. Will the scanned bank statement suffice?

Lastly, must it be a salary account? Can't it just be some random savings account?

Thanks guys.

Lovely post....
helped me in some direction too. it is wise to start doing something asap with agencies before one get professional jobs...

Portsmouth86:

Hi there

This is what I did for my husband and his arrival in the UK

My hubby arrived in the UK on Saturday 13th February

08/02/2016 Council Tax- I informed them as soon as I booked his flight (8th Feb) and advised what date he would be moving to the UK
15/02/2016- Went to the post office to collect BRP (Biometrics residents permit)
15/02/2016- Called Electricity, Southern Water and Portsmouth water and also called National Insurance line made application
16/02/2016- SSE (Electricity issued a bill) this was a PDF online bill I used as proof of address
17/02/2016- Opened NatWest Bank account and registered with GP
18/02/2016- I did my husband a CV and we went to the agencies and registered for work.
18/02/2016- Appointment with Lloyds Bank to open a Joint Savings account.

22/02/2016- FPR recruitment asked hubby to come in for a health and safety test PASSED smiley
23/02/2016- Hubby started his first job in the UK in a bakery, and is still there smiley (and did SIA security training, now awaiting the licence)
24/02/2016- Applied online for a provisional Licence
02/03/2016- D/L application arrived pre filled, signed returned with BRP card
15/03/2016- BRP returned from DVLA ( I knew a licence is issued as the ref is a DL number smiley
16/03/2016- Provisional Arrived smiley

So in a nutshell:
-Council tax
-Collect BRP
-National Insurance
-Electric company
-Gas company ( if you have)
-Water company (both fresh and waste)

Then once you have a letter from one of the utilities or council tax:
-Bank Account
-GP
-Dentist (my husband hasn't yet registered with one smiley )

useful information:
NI number:
https://www.gov.uk/apply-national-insurance-number call 0345 600 0643 Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm (make sure you state he has been offered a job but requires a NI number) they will ask why you need one although obvious, however you can actually work for up to 12 weeks without an NI number smiley this is issued now by the jobcentre Plus not DWP

You need to get proof of address before you can open a bank account or register with a GP, so make sure those are the first things, check your billing dates for utilities as you could time it to get a bill the following day, as i called the day before my bill was due to be generated (luckily)

Driving Licence ( international licence can be used for 12 months from entering UK)
https://www.gov.uk/apply-first-provisional-driving-licence

And make sure you file any letters for Joint or single names for your next stage FLR as you need to provide proof of cohabitation smiley

I hope this helps smiley

You will need to use the additional information box or write a personal letter explaining your situation. Let them know how remorosely you were about what happened. let them know your situation.. and do not lie about it ... Dont be too wordy about it ... but take responsibility about it and express how you intend not to make this silly mistakes anymore. They tend to understand when one come clean...

Make sure everything you will be submitting now is on point.... because they will scrutinize all your documents...so do everything perfectly and leave everything else to GOD... you are just unlucky with them noticing the fake Kenya visa...

Good luck.
You have a chance .. i have seen ppl whom had worse case than you and still got there settlement visa so be positive.

EvaMD:
Hello NL,
I need advice and inputs on how to go about my issue the right way..
I gave my passport to an agent in 2012 to apply for schengen(France) and he insisted that I needed To beef up f passport as it was too bare and I could get a Kenyan visa on it to increase my chances.. I told him to go ahead without investigating that Kenyan stamps were given at POE.i didn get the France visa and didn bother. Fast forward 2013 and I applied for UK visa and decided I wasn't using an agent and would just follow the rules.i used the same passport(didn know the Kenya visa was fake) and applied for UK in Abuja. I met all d requirements and was keeping my fingers crossed..it began to take too long and I sent them a mail only for them to respond that my passport had been impounded and would be sent to NIS as they were investigating the Kenya visa and believe it to be fake. Now am married to a UK citizen and want to apply for spousal visa and need to know what steps to take.

A lengthy post cos I want honest and fair opinions..no need to critic and start unnecessary talks if it's not constructive..the agent in question has admitted his fraudulent act and all lessons has been learnt .

So just advice on way forward please...cc@ justwise and all the experts
