talk2yinkuz: Hello @tundex01 and others Please I need your candid and brotherly advice on how to start the Australian process, with my details as follows:
I'm 28years with 3years work experience as Customer service in the Financial sector.
A graduate with Bs.c in Business management
Never married.
Please I will appreciate your prompt and swift response and guide. Try student visa or any other country. The only occupation for customer service is Customer Service Manager CSM and this is not related to working in a bank branch as a customer service person. That’s classified as an operations work here and not a strategic role for a CSM |

Saynoomore: @tunlex01,
Pls what does this screenshot mean for Queensland 491. Does it mean that an applicant must be residing in these zipcode areas to be eligible to apply for Subclass 491? i.e. It's not open to offshore applicants? Yes. Because the entire Queensland is not open to 491 regional visa. Brisbane is not classified as a regional area. |

Please try to share your testimonies if you've been invited, atleast for the hopeful ones here. Please. There are a lot of testimonies on other platforms. Also, it has slowed down a bit since the beginning of d financial year |

Saynoomore: Thanks a lot Tunlex01.
Your estimate helps a great deal. I guess one can get by and manage very conservatively with $3500. Not bad at all. Gracias! For a family of 5, I’d say increase that budget. $2500 was my budget as a single person when I came in some years ago. |

Saynoomore: Oga Tunlex01,
Please, permit me to bug you with these few questions. It will go a long way in helping me make some personal decisions on my side, and weigh my options:
1. How much does an average 2 bedroom flat cost (averagely, across Australia). I know there might be variations with cities and high brow areas, but just give a conservative estimate for an average Nigerian who has just relocated to any of the cities, and want to start moderately. I'm not coming for luxury. Just a moderate (not bad) accommodation to manage for a family of 5
2. How long (on the average) will it take to find something (a job) doing, at least to make ends meet. it doesn't have to be a professional job. E.g. One could start with a care job (or any menial job) to manage while writing qualifying exams to practice (I'm in the medical field)
3. What will be the average cost of living (food and minor expenditure e.g. electricity bills, transport, telephone, internet, gas) for a family of 5. I'm not an extravagant person o , and my children are all less than 6yrs. so, you can imagine they'll probably wouldn't be such voracious consumers . Abeg, make we know how to calculate expenses at least for the first 6 months before one gets stable with a meaningful job. Already flight cost I checked is hitting the roof. These are tough questions to answer because the country has a huge land mass. To narrow it down, which city are you planning to stay? Please note my response below is not absolute and vary per location. Also, it’s best to over budget than to under-budget. 1. You should look towards a 3 bedroom apartment. Hardly will you find landlord willing to give you a 2-bed for 5 people. Modest 2 bed - $350 - $600 per week. Modest 3 bed - $450 -$700 per week 2. Getting a job has a lot of factors that are attached to it. Your cv, prior experience, your communication skills etc. To get menial jobs, I would say from 3 weeks upwards because you will need documentations like police report, proof of age since you won’t have a drivers license at that time and a few other documents. Care job will take at least 2 months cos you need to attend classes, placement, and then the certification 3. If your kids are less than 6, that means they will not likely be starting school yet. Your spouse can stay at home with them cos childcare cost is not beans. Cost of living - I’ll try to give a range for a family of 5 Food - >$600 Electricity - $500-600 per quarter (since you are new and may need to use more heaters to adjust your body temperature) Gas - <$300 per quarter Transport - get a car asap (budget from $4500 upwards to get a good car that will serve you and the family. Registration, insurance and license costs are additional expenses you should also budget for. Telephone - prepaid - $20, postpaid - <$50 monthly per person Internet - $60-90 monthly depending on the speed you want. Health insurance - $350-$500 if you are on a skilled visa or PR Water - $100 per quarter (some landlords add this to the rent price) You can always go with the cheaper options and upgrade later on. |

Has anyone gotten a visa recently and in this occupation? For accountant, try applying for jobs and get sponsored by employer on 482 visa if you work in any of accounting big4s. Pathway for accountants is very slim due to the competitiveness of the occupation in Australia. We have too many accountants here |

FOSTY: Thanks for your response, but what about 189, do I qualify? Does 491 have any route to PR ? What if we decide to go the study route, does my wife going for a Masters or PGD in Education in Australia say primary school teacher or children with special needs a good option that can get us to stay permanently? I seem to be seeing teaching every where there. Does Australian universities accept part payment like they do in UK? Most schools I have seen for Australia seem to be very expensive. CSM is not on 189 list. 491 have route to 191 PR visa after 3 years (after meeting some requirements). You can check them online. Teaching has a good prospect because we need more teachers. Most uni accept part payment (you are usually asked to pay for the first semester/year). Cheap and Australia are not synonymous..lol! We do things in a big way |

FOSTY: Good Morning, I have been reading and learning a whole lot of things from Nairaland over the years, but I just registered now because I needed to get clarification on something. Forgive me if I am posting this the wrong way. I have been going through this topic on Australia Migration and have also gone through the website, but I am still a bit confused on the route to take, whether 190, 189 or any other, but what I want is a permanent stay in Australia. I am 35yrs old, with a Bachelor,s degree in Project Management from a Nigerian University which I finished in 2012, worked in the aviation sector for the past 6 years first as an airline Passenger Service Executive for 2 years, and a Passenger Service Supervisor this last 4 years. On the Australian skills list, I saw Customer Service Manager for class 190 and the occupation details are in line with what I do, will I get a positive assessment considering that my job designation is Supervisor while what is on the list is Manager? I am married with a child, wife has a BSc in Microbiology and is 28yrs but does not have provable work experience in that line, she currently teaches in a private school and does not have any qualification in education and besides, its less than one year so we can not assess for school teacher. I am preparing for IELTS and sending in my documents for Canada PR, how ever I need to still do this as a second option because my family has to move ASAP. Please, take a comprehensive look at my situation and advice, Thanks to everyone contributing to grow this topic/project. Getting the 190 may be a challenge. Most states offer 491 these days to offshore applicants. Also Customer Service Manager (CSM) is usually given 491 and not 190. That said, I can't say if you will get a positive assessment or not. For CSM for vetassess, your job descriptions must not indicate you do customer service job at all but you manage customer service agent. You are in charge of training, develop metrics like NPS, CSAT etc for client satisfaction. If your job descriptions are more operations than strategic, then it may not be a positive assessment but who knows? anything is possible. You will also need to provide an organogram showing the people you report to and your subordinates Also, your years of experience may be reduced as only the years you have been a supervisor/manager will be approved and 1 year is usually deducted from the approved years. |

obirep: Hi, Please I need a little clarification. As the main applicant, does my partner needs to run an assessment as well? Because, while going through the calculation, I could see an option for partner with competent English having 5points and also an option for a partner with required age limit, right English competency and nominated skill assessment with 10 points.
Your clarification on this will be appreciated. It's not compulsory. The partner 10 points was introduced again in 2019 when single applicants were automatically given 10 points. So to balance this for the married applicant, your spouse need to have a positive assessment and competent English. Your spouse does not need to go for a skill assessment if you don't need the point. If extra 5 points will help in your nomination, go for it. Just ensure both of your occupations are on the same occupation list to claim that 5 points. |

I wanted to know if I could send an old copy of undergraduate degree transcript (or notarized student copy) since ASUU & NASU has been on strike. I had all my postgraduate degrees outside Nigera and can easily apply online for those ones to be sent to VETASSES. My job started after my PhD and I dont think the undergraduate degree transcript should have much of an impact on the assessment, particularly as it was not the basis for my current employment and also unrelated to my current roles. But these guys didnt budge on giving a reply. It's shocking to say the least! Did you call or email migrate@vetassess.com.au? That's the only official email address they have. Is there any chance or opportunity for a risk analyst through this route? I have checked the list of the occupations and i can't find anything related to someone with banking experience.
I have 8 years experience as a risk analyst and an MBA as highest academic qualification.
Kindly advice. Banking experience is a difficult one. Your best bet is school, or through your spouse if their occupation is on the list or work visa by applying for jobs |

Year of Graduation: 2016
6 months industrial Training: 2014
Nysc : 2017 - 2018
Profession: Quantity Surveyor and Construction Manager
Work experience: April 2016 till date (6years)
I have written TOEFL (not sure if it will be accepted in place of IELTS) I scored 80.
Waiting for your response.
Thanks You should assess as a QS cos you may not get a positive assessment as a construction manager since you did not study a related degree in civil engineering or building. Visit AIQS website to read up their requirement for assessment Do you have payslips, bank statement showing salary, tax/pension from 2016 till date? I don’t think TOEFL has 80 points.
