ImperialMcHael: Good evening everybody, I'm new to this thread, however I have some enquiries. How can one get assessement for Bsc Accounting? Has anybody done that in recent times? What are the fees?
Concerning IELTs which is easier to conquer? The academics or the general tests?
Also, is there anything like health insurance or maintenance costs of which we must present a proof of funds before the visa can be granted?
Finally, cost-wise is it safe to exclude dependants in the application (wife and child) then process theirs after the Primary applicant has travelled? 1. There are 3 bodies assessing Accountants. Have you visited their websites? If you have not, it's save to start the thread from the beginning 2. For Accountants, you need IELTS Academic or PTE 3. Not all states require proof of funds. Health insurance is not needed before landing. You can take it in addition to Medicare when you land. 4. I wont advise it cos it doesn't change the cost and with the current unprecendented times that we are in, timelines to re-unite may be longer. Options (a) add them to your application. Upon grant, you can land first and they join you within a year (b) only apply for yourself, land then apply for Subsequent entrant visas for the rest of the family - downside is time and effort. The advantage of the former is that the family can join as soon as they want. Finally, Accountant is one of the competitive occupations and hasnt gotten offshore nominations in almost 3 years now. |

Jenniangel: Bsc Economics and Statistics University of Benin 2016 3yrs working experience as a Planning Officer Your degree is AQF - Associate degree and not a Bachelor's degree, so it cannot assess for an Economist occupation - it's an automatic negative assessment after 3 months of waiting. You need an AQF Bachelor's degree or a masters degree with at least 1 year post qualification experience to get a positive assessment. |

mayo47: The job description for Consultant (External) and Strategy Manager (Internal Consultant) are the same. While job functions as it relates to audit, strategy, operations and data analysis overlap/related
Considering the occupation for Nomination - ICT Business Analyst, Management Consultant For ICT BA, ACS will likely cut up to 8 years of your experience because your prior degrees are not IT related and the 2021 may be inconsequential since it's recent. For Vetassess Mgt Consultant occupation, only experience after 2015 will be counted by Vetassess as Babcock is a tier 2 university. Also, Vetassess will still chop off at least 1 year after 2015. With these two bodies, your job descriptions have to be totally aligned to the occupation's JDs in ANZSCO to avoid a negative assessement. |

Jenniangel: Good evening all, I'm new to this thread and the Australian visa stuff. I tried reading through the thread but the messages are too much to keep up with.
I'm 30 yrs old, married with 3 kids, studied Economics and Statistics and have 3 years working experience in that field, my ielts scores goes thus; L 9, W 6.5, R 8.5 & S 7.5
Please am I good to go? You will need to still read through. The messages will keep you grounded as it's a DIY thread. In addition, your qualifications will determine if you are good to go. Have you checked which occupation you can nominate and the ANZSCO code? |

boombabe: Good day everyone,
Please I need advice, I just finished my masters in Sydney and have currently applied for my post study visa. My hubby just came into the country this February 2022 for the first time due to border closure. The course I studied requires me to work for one year in my field before I can apply for assessment, however, my hubby has a positive assessment for ICT customer support officer with 10years experience.
I researched and found out that ACT and SA both have his course in their skilled nomination list but with clauses. ACT requires us to both live in Canberra for 6months before we can apply . While , SA wants him to work in his field or closely nominated field in SA for onshore applicant.
I will like to enquire, Can he apply as offshore applicant for his nominated field in SA even tho he is onshore? As he met the criteria compared to the onshore application that they expect him to be working in his field .
Looking forward for advice. Thank you No, he cannot apply as offshore as he is onshore already. Your options will be to move to SA, get a job and get nomination or your partner goes back offshore and wait till he gets nominated, apply for visa then travel back. |

GraduatesGrant: Please I've studied this thread but still have some grey areas I need clarification on. I studied industrial engineering in my bachelor's and manufacturing engineering in my masters. I need someone who has successfully done his assessment with EA to guide me in my Career episode please while I prepare for my IELTS.
Also, I heard visa 189 cut off point is now 80 how true is this.
Your prompt response would be very much appreciated.
Thank you. I'm positive other Engineers will reach out soon. No, 80 is not enough for 189. You need to aim more than that. Do you have any experience? |

Rockhousecafe2: Thanks for the feedback. I want to try PTE for 20 points and l was looking a NSW since almost all their regional areas have Cafe manager on their occupation.
Any particular reason why you suggested SA? Thanks Because SA is open and SA still remains the most sure state when it comes to nomination |

Oge90: Ok. Thanks. This state requirement (work experience) will it remain like this? Or is it subject to change? Since Covid came, nothing is predictable. I can tell you it will change but it may not. There is also a possibility that some states may be lenient with the experience than others |

RANSUM: Thanks to all the veterans for their good work.
So I want to migrate to Australia and I want your advice. I have done a lot of research and still doing to know the best route to take. I am 36 and have a Bsc in Mechanical Engineering and Masters in well engineering. I have worked for about 10 years now in the oil and gas industry. I am married with a child and another on the way. My wife has school cert and have been doing business, although she is interested in nursing, she is currently 26yrs old.
I look up my eligibility and discovered that the best I can ever get in 189 is 85 which is quite low considering the previous selection round in mechanical engineering.
What do you advice, I am willing to come to Aussi for an Msc or a trade course to boost my chances. Many thanks. 189 is far reaching. You should be considering 190 & 491. Most states are now giving only 491 to offshore applicants. It’s likely impossible you got 85 points with the details you provided here. Can you provide a breakdown of your points? Mechanical engineer is a competitive occupation. Most engineers have gone with trade occupations like fitter. What you need to do is to first identify the occupation(s) you can assess. |

Rockhousecafe2: @tunlex01 Please the covid break has reduced my age point from 25 to 15 as l will be 40 by March. However, my ielts is 10 point, and will try PTE to see if l can max out 20 points. That way, l will hit 75.
Question : if l apply with 65 points, do l have a chance considering my occupation, cafe manager, is in very high demand and probably not too many people are into it(my assumption)? There are a lot of restaurant manager especially from the Asian countries. The states will decide if you stand a chance. Apply to SA ROI. It’s open for your occupation if you have 8 years approved by Vetassess. |

soulamanne: @tunlex01 thanks for your updates. The offshore conditions for SA are really crazy! for example I have an assessment as telecoms network engineer with 85 points(10yrs experience and proficiency plus English) but the point required is 90 .now I can see there is telecom network planner with required point of 65 and IELTS of proficiency plus which fortunately I have.my questions are;
1. can I apply using telecom network planner role?
2. what is really the definition of closely related occupation? AZSCO code or if the occupation is assessed by same body? please note below from SA site
Occupations with the same Skills Assessing Authority are closely related occupations 1. You can give it a go. It’s a pre-invite. If they don’t consider it, you won’t get a pre-invite. 2. Closely related is more of the Anzsco code and assessing authority 2633 263312 and 313213 are not closely related however 263312 and 263311 are closely related |

Qualifications: B.Sc (2016)
University: UNIPORT
Job title: Agriculture technician (Poultry technician)
Years of Experience: 2 years + The possibility of a positive assessment is 50-50 since you have up to 2 years experience and your qualification is unrelated. You may be better of waiting till you have 3 years experience and all will be deducted but no one knows how many years exactly will be deducted. You have a decision to make |

NHQGUY: Thanks for your response. I wasn't going to apply though as I currently do that have up to 8 years work experience. Just needed to get some clarifications with the points i raised. You can go ahead when it's 8 years because your case is a peculiar own. ROI only leads to a pre-invite. So if they want to consider it, they would send you an invite to now apply for a nomination. |

NHQGUY: I'll like to find out. I started working in July of 2014, by this year July that puts me at 8years work experience. Unfortunately VETASSESS took out a year and started counting from July of 2015.
Can I apply by July this year when I'll have hit the 8years work experience requirement or I have to wait for next year as VETASSESS insist I started in 2015.
Also is there a near possibility of this work experience requirement been reviewed soon to accommodate others? I think you can give it a try after July. The requirement says You must have at least 8 years of work experience in your nominated or closely related occupation. which I think you meet. But make sure your EOI has the initial years that Vetassess cut off listed as "not relevant on EOI. |

Oge90: Hello. Please I need to be sure I understand something.
The occupation I intend to nominate is in Group C. One of the criteria, which I think relates to me is thus: “ Qualification(s) assessed at least AQF Diploma level without a highly relevant field and at least two years of post-qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years;
Now my qualification is nowhere near(without a highly relevant field) my intended nominated occupation (INO). But I have a little experience. If I were to do the assessment would it be a positive one?
To be precise, my qualification is in biology and my INO is something in Agric.
Thank you. Can you use this format This is for new members: Course of study Educational qualifications with dates awarded (ND/HND/Bsc/Msc/PhD) Awarding University(ies) Job title(s) Years of experience |

Do you advise me to apply for only education assessment with engineers Australia or go for marketing with vetassess? Thanks. For positive assessment, you have a greater chance with EA.
