chygurl24: my husband has been working for about 12 years now, we both took ielts and did well he 7.5 me 7, we are currently waiting for our skill assessment from IML assessing as a sales and marketing manager, for visa 491 provincial state nomination, do we stand a change of getting a state nomination in this era of covid with this skill? What’s the breakdown of the result? Remember Australia does not work with overall. It uses the least score to calculate English points. Also, no one can tell you if you stand a chance or not. Do let us know when you have a positive assessment from IML |

zeb04: I was planning to assess as a medical laboratory scientist IVF. But for you to be assessed, you need to have a masters degree in reproductive medicine( which i a m currently doing and a 2 years working experience).
I was thinking maybe i should asses for just biochemistry which is by Vetasses. the problem is i am just too impatient to wait until i complete my masters program because of all the issues and insecurity going on right now. Oh! I didn’t know there is MLS IVF on the list. I only see MLS and MLT. AIMS gives every MLS applicant medical laboratory technician in their assessment outcome. You can only become MLS after writing and passing the professional exam. With Vetassess, you must have post qualification experience. Vetassess is a level 1 occupation which means your university must be a tier 1 university or you had a 5 year course in your first degree. |

kizwid: boss is there any chance for me, I graduated as Electrical engineer in 2017, during my degree I learnt Electrician and since graduation it has been the work am doing... must I work with a corporate company before I can be eligible to work in Australia or I can still apply with my skill. You don’t have to work with a corporate to assess for the Skilled migration. If you are self employed, ensure your business is registered and you pay taxes to the government and all your business documentations are great including your invoices |

Oge90: Ok. Thank you. I intend to assess as a life science technician. There are specialisations one being Zoology technician. This is ok, right? My question is what if i do the assessment now and then the new list comes out(1st of July right?) and my nominated occupation isn't there anymore? Especially since it's state nomination and most statesare closed. I feel like I should wait for the new list before i go ahead with the assessment. What do you think?
Kindly advice me please. Many thanks. Life science technician is good if you role aligns to it. The decision to assess is yours. New list doesn’t come out in July. State only updates the occupation they want to nominate. DHA updates information about occupation that will be removed before July. In most cases, life science is not an occupation that I feel will be removed from the list. |

Pls what next? How do I assess my academic qualifications? First, read the first few pages. Ceceliatoronto: Thanks alot. Please can't I combine the two(geologist and lecturer)? Also my degree is from University of Nigeria and it is a 5 years course. Also what score is required to be invited to apply? You can’t combine occupations. You can however assess two different occupations but Vetassess will not approve a reference letter covering years you are a lecturer as geologist. 5 years course is good then. There are no specific scores. States determine scores and occupations they want. For example, a 65 can get Invitation in SA in a trade occupation whereas 85 may be required for a university lecturer in the same state to get ITA |

Total years of work experience is 3 years now. IELTS will be out soon.
My issue now is which occupation can I do assessment on? Business development office or bank marketing role is not on the occupation list. Marketing specialist is on the list but it’s a specialised role and not for marketers |

Ceceliatoronto: Thanks alot. Wont that reduce my score?. What if I choose Geologist so my work experience can start counting from 2017? Vetassess will also approve only years you were a geologist and not in addition to the years you are a lecturer. Also, geologist is a level 1 occupation which means your degree must be from a tier 1 university or a 5 year course, else only experience after your MSc will be regarded |

RodeDindu: @Tunlex01, knight1 please kindly throw some light on this, -
Each episode of employment must be supported by an employment reference letter. All references must contain specific information from the employer regarding the duties you performed, and the skills applied on the job. References must be signed by your employer or a person authorised by your employer. The name, position and contact details of the person making the reference must be clearly indicated.
Many of my past employers have gone into extinction, how do i achieve this? You may have to get your previous supervisor to sign the documents and also get it notarised stating that the company is no longer in existence. Do you have pension or tax documents for those companies? |

Oge90: 5 year courses would fly for any occupational level. 4 year courses won’t fly for a level 1 occupation it’s not awarded by Unilag, OAU, Futa and UI. Although this does not apply to all assessing bodies. ACS and Vetassess judiciously make use of the AQF. Level 1 occupations require AQF Bachelor’s degree, that is, Australian equivalent Bachelor’s degree
Ok. So what do I do now? I did look up another occupation. The closest is poultry farmer and Vetassess is still the assessing body. You can only assess for level 2 occupations as long as it’s Vetassess |

Oge90: I'm confused. On the other thread, someone stated that 5 year courses from any Uni could fly and 4 year courses from any federal uni and a few states. So mine can't even go at all even if it's their diploma it's equated to? Besides Zoology usually is a 4 year course. Please help me clarify. And what is a level 1 occupation? 5 year courses would fly for any occupational level. 4 year courses won’t fly for a level 1 occupation it’s not awarded by Unilag, OAU, Futa and UI. It should be on their website. Do you also have tax or pension statement for all the years because one of those is now a mandatory requirement |

I studied Animal and Envionmental Biology (Zoology) from UNIPORT. I have one year paid work experience (teaching biology). I have other paid work experiences though but they aren't relevant to my nominated occupation. What are my chances of being positively assessed by Vetassess?
Thank you as I await your response. Teaching is not relevant to your occupation. The chance of getting a positive outcome from Vetassess is very slim. Check the occupation list to see if there is any occupation you can nominate cos teaching is only for BEd holders only |
