Mcslize: If you told me Australia is a country governed by dictators, only then I will agree with this.
Not for a parliamentary/democratic society like Australia. Story! I'm sure you know that in Australia, voting is compulsory if you are a citizen. If you don't want to vote, you can withdraw your citizenship (remain PR) or provide an exemption to vote. It's not dictatorship if the decision is for the betterment of the country and her citizens. Another example is making every driver have a valid driver's license, or passengers using seat belt. Is that dictatorship too? You always have a choice, it's just that you don't like the choice available to you. |

yungmin: Is there still hope even for 491 for offshore candidates? I recently found some Facebook groups on these 491 visas. They mostly Indians. The criteria for selection is totally not known. People with scores has high as 105 are waiting while some with barely 80 are getting invites. Even within the same profession. What's going on? Is it now by luck? That’s not possible. No state will take 80 over 105 for same occupation and in the same state if they meet the state requirement. If you check well, the occupations will be different. Most of the states will most likely open up in the new year - July 2022. |

NHQGUY: Hi, good morning. First step is for her to check states available to sponsor the occupation. Next up is to calculate her points using the calculator to know if she has a good score. She even has a better chance been single, that's an added 10points. Lastly, you can't submit an EOI without a valid skilled assessment. So skill assessment has to come first.
Link for point calculator: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/tools/points-calculator
Link to check sponsorship availability: https/www.anzscosearch.com/search Click on the link then type the occupation and search. Once it opens, click on state/territory to see the sponsorship options available. In addition @allylic, English test is required for AIMS (assessing body for MLS) - can’t remember the actual scores for each band. Check Aims website. AIMS usually give Medical laboratory technician to all MLS at first until they write the MLS exams. Most people I know have used the MLT to get nominations. |

That's an indirect way of forcing people to be vaccinated.
If you don't take, you won't enter. That's more like force. It’s not force if you have a choice. You have a choice not to come to Australia. You can go to countries that allow it. My house, my rules! You don’t have to come if you don’t like my rules. #my2cents |

NneAku344: Good afternoon everyone,
Please, I have a few questions, I'll greatly appreciate a response.
For Nurses, apart from IELTS, do they need to write any other tests to get in the pool?
Is 489 the suitable subclass for a Nurse?
Can a Nurse get ITA from being in the pool or do they have to apply for jobs from Nigeria in order to get a sponsor first?
I'll be most grateful if I get a response. I’m not sure what the requirement is now but it’s a bit difficult for a Nurse to get assessment completed from Nigeria. You should check AHPRA website on the assessment requirements. IELTS is the least of the requirements. The main thing is that the AhpRa registration is easier if you are in Australia. Most nurses went through their spouse’s occupation then complete the registration requirement while onshore to start working. Other options are applying for jobs, MSc Nursing or going to Uk first then crossing to Australia after practicing for a while in the UK. 489 has been scrapped since Nov 16, 2019 so it’s no longer relevant. Visas to consider: 189, 190 and 491(489 replacement) Yes, nurses do get ITA from the pool but you must have completed all the AHPRA registration and be positively assessed as a Nurse You can also apply for jobs and an employer can sponsor you |

Saynoomore: I'm a newbie to this stuff, I've however visited the website and can see that there are classifications, namely: 1. Business Innovation and Investment (188) 2. Skilled Independent visa (189) 3. SKilled Nominated Visa (190) 4. Skilled Regional (489) 5. SKilled Work Regional (491)
I didn't bother checking the first one, because the name suggests it's for investors - the money bags! Further reading on google suggests 189 is extremely competitive and there hasn't been ITAs lately.
Anyway, a cursory look at the scoring criteria suggests my cumulative score for 189/ 489 is 85, and for 491 it's also 85.
Please which one is advisable to go for? and what are my chances? I would be happy to know before I commit scarce means to VETASSESS! I'm very optimistic about skating through VETASSESS. 489 visa has been stopped. You should check the scores again. You can’t have the same score for 189 and 491. Which one to go for is dependent on your total points, English scores, the requirements of the states for your occupation. There are no guarantees as requirements change regularly. 190 and 491 are good options. |

Solitin40: Enrolled Nursing is merely a diploma in nursing that is under AQF level 5, whereas Masters is under AQF level 9, which is the top level.
The Australian Department of Home Affairs has issued a warning to student visa holders who wish to change their primary subject of study. "If you change your main course of study to a lower Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level and do not apply for a new Student visa, you run the risk of having your visa cancelled," according to the Department.
It is necessary for the student to remain enrolled at the same or higher course level in order to avoid a violation of the 8202 condition of the visa. Course enrolment, level, progress, and attendance are all conditions that must be met by the student in order to fulfil the condition. The violation may result in the cancellation of the visa.
It is common for students to need a new student visa if they are switching from their primary course of study to a lower AQF level course or to a non-AQF course, even if they are staying with the same education provider.
When a student changes course from a Doctoral degree (AQF level 10) to a Masters degree (AQF level 9), however, a new visa does not need to be obtained. Do you have a link to this post please? |

I appreciate your good work in helping us know how beautiful a country like Australia is; the good life, culture, cost of living, employment, etc.
Please i am a Geologist by profession. But I have a hand work as an electrician with certificate for about 7 years now.
I am processing a skilled work visa to Australia through an agent since 1st of December, 2021. This agent is one I have been using for my previous visas to China since 2018 before Covid 19 . From what we agreed on, the agent said he is going to help me get a 1 year direct work visa to a company in Australia. A week today, the agent called and told me that my invitation letter is out, and that the visa he is applying for me is a PR 189 visa. He said that when I get to Australia, that my first one year will look like a test from the company, and if they find competence in me, I will be retained with a PR 189 visa that will enable me work anywhere in Australia. He also said that from the look of things, that the visa should be ready before the end of March, 2022.
Please house, I want to know how "true" this information can be? I already paid him 400k for processing fee. The actual money charged is 2.7M..... Thanks I have responded to you on the other thread. |

Saynoomore: Please pardon my ignorance, I have a few questions:
1. VETASSESS is about $880 now, how long does it take to get the result or outcome? 2. What IELTS category is required? General or Academic? is there any preference 3. I understand that this immigration pathway does not require POF, what is the budget for this mission for a family of 5 (i.e application fees and flight etc..just a conservative estimate) 1. 12 weeks for normal while 2 weeks for priority processing 2. Vetassess does not require English test. For EOI, either General or Academic is acceptable. (some other bodies may be specific though but with DHA, you can use either) 3. Some states require POF. COST IMPLICATION (estimate) Assessment Fee – from A$600 to A$1500 (depends on your assessing body) Transcript sending cost (depends on your educational institution) English Test (N75000 – N80,000) State Nomination Fee (A$300 – A$800) Medicals – N41,000 and above per person (depends on the family size and the hospital selected) Biometrics – N8,340 per applicant Police Certificate – N5,000 to N10,000 per person (depends on your family size - over 16 years) Visa Application Fee - Family of 1 – A$4,115 (single applicant) - Family of 2 – A$6,175 (4,115 +2,060) (primary applicant and spouse) - Family of 3 – A$7,205 (4,115 + 2,060 + 1,030 (primary applicant, spouse & child) - Family of 4 – A$8,235 (4,115 + 2,060 + 2,060 (PA, spouse & 2 children) AUD is around N400-N410 as at today |

All these make everything he told you a lie. Whatever your agent has told you, tell him to just face his China visa stuff, that's may be his forte and he does not know jack about Australia visa requirements. Companies don't offer 189 visa to anyone. Have you done any assessment, English test, EOI, ITA? Nomination hasn't even been done for 189 in a long time, so I'm wondering how he's going to get you a 189 visa. If you want to lose money and time, please go ahead with him. |

Another question please! Is band 8 EILTS a must have even after getting an 80points in 491 overall? It's not a must have but a need-have as most people I know have upgraded their scores during this pandemic. This will result in stiffer competition. So the earlier you get more points, the better your chances. |

Also, will a certificate from Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Services at the airport help if one has to bring in stuff with ziplock? Thank you It's still the same process for a few i know that have landed. Buy branded stuff and not in large quantity. Some had their items seized if it was more than 1kg. For example, buy 1kg x 2 Ola ola instead of one 2kg of Ola ola. That certificate is to Nigeria only, it won't do you anything in Australia as countries have different border requirement when it comes to food |

Solitin40: This journey to Australia is a three-step ponzi scheme/use and dump strategy, so bear with me as I explain. You, the agent in Nigeria, and the Australian government/university are all involved.
The agent is chasing your money, specifically the consultation charge (above #150000) and the commission they receive. They are not there to help you; they are marketers selling a product. However, you must be smart in order to use them effectively and don't forget to conduct your own research. Agents will not inform you of the best course or location, they will simply tell you the nice things you want to hear. They are waiting for you to pay the fees and the school deposit.
The UNI/government these people also want your money; they will almost certainly admit you to courses that will not allow you to get PR at the end of the day, but they will also admit you to courses that will provide you PR as long as you pay. Education is one of the country's main sources of cash, so use your head instead of allowing them to utilise you.
Now, imagine you've spent thousands of dollars studying a meaningless course like accounting in a high-demand location like Sydney, and your age isn't working in your favour. What's your reward if you don't get PR? The two merely played you and used you, but if you obtain the PR after three years, you three will both use and dump each other, so be prepared before coming here and be wise GOODLUCK I understand your point however I’d like to correct your notion. It’s not a Ponzi scheme if the applicant does not do their research and review the risks before applying. Everyone is aware that studying as an international student does not guarantee a stay or residency in any country - Australia inclusive. Let’s not forget that there are students who come in only to study and have no intention to stay back to work or apply for PR. Admissions to courses that do not guarantee PR is not the responsibility of the government but that of the applicant. Also, the course can even be on the PR occupation list prior to admission and few months to graduation, it’s removed. So as an applicant, the onus is on the applicant to study a course that will be ever relevant. The agent has a part to play in guiding the applicant to achieve their goals. In other news, education is not one of the country’s top revenue, it’s not even in the top 10 industries that generate revenue for the country. |

Abby212: Good day everyone, I must confess I have really learnt a lot from this thread. God bless you all.
I read through TRA migration guidelines and my confusions are: 1. my husband has an experience of about 8years in electrical engineering but has pay proof for only two of the three places he worked and that experience falls inbetween.my challenge is that for a period of 3years he worked in that particular company we can't provide accurate proof. What do we do? His years of experience stated needs to match the documents.
2. I read through through the thread and saw someone complaint about getting a negative because his school didn't send his transcript on time. Please must your school send it or can someone scan a copy with him or her. Is it acceptable?
Thanks 1. That's a difficult one as providing an employment with no pay records would lead to a negative assessment with TRA. Sincerely, I havent seen anyone with this issue so I can only advise your only include the years you have payslips, bank statment, pension/tax for. Do not include the years you dont have the pay details. 2. Recently, you can send it directly yourself, however TRA must be able to confirm it with the school. If they are not able to, then a negative is usually given. |
