IyawoToBe:I have responded. |
Mcy56:Not a bad result, oya load more right now and fasten your seat belt. Infact make it 99% of your portfolio as some people do on this page. ![]() |
Mcy56:Make una console unaself well well. With the anticipation and noise around it, the stock should be paying 50k dividend this financial year. . |
9jatriot:You are not wrong, i have a bank of america account ,The online banking experience with a bank like GTB is miles ahead of BofA. The GTB online banking guys were so good that Amazon poached many of them in 2018. Amazon quadrupled their salary and promised their spouses employment with free accomodation in the USA,they moved enmass. One would think GTB online banking unit will go down ,na lie they kept waxing strong. Good brains too plenty for this country. Does anyone think dull people do Yahoo? Those guys are very intelligent. If we have a serious government, all those Yahoo boys will be deployed in our Silicon Valley. The day this sleeping giant wakes up ,the world will feel the tremor. |
IyawoToBe:Yes dear, go ahead. |
DigitalMallam:Thanks for highlighting this. When this COVID issue started i told many people around me that they should watch Nigeria, she will manage this well and come out OK. It wont get destroyed like the CNN and the western world predicted death-wise. I guess The OP has bought so much into the western propaganda to the extent of being dissapointed for not seeing dead bodies littering his/her country. Black man, such a sad story. |
Manwarrior55:I still think we Nigerians including myself are some of the most unpatriotic people in the world. Truth be told, We dont love this country but we want it to work? How can the OP call the land that gave birth to him/her a "Corn-Tree" or say Nigerians are either dead or alive? If the Germans left their country after the devastation of the second world war, will you have an european superpower today? If the Americans queing for bread during the great depression gave up their country, will you have america to visit today? SaudiArabia exported and is still exporting Islamic terrorism to the world but you will never see arabians bashing their country. Its only few Nigerians that are taking this country hostage but the sad reality is that instead of the elites to come together and fight off this few, we dont have the courage to do so. Everyone seeks greener pastures elsewhere. Those speaking only negative things about Nigeria, what positive things have they done to make this country better? You reach abroad and you go dey begin speak anyhow. If the OP didnt generalise i wont take him up. Yes many Nigerians are suffering but there are many success stories. If youve relocated chop your abroad benefits in peace but let those of us staying back hear word! As regard luck in business,i have failed many times but i didnt give up. I have been arrested on false charges and detained on false charges such is enough to make me relocate but i see things differently. I believe in determination, hardwork and Gods grace working with me. |
Thisnut:I have never experienced most of the negative things you stated in your write up even while i lived in Okokomaiko. This country you so detest has been good to me. I guess you are outside Nigeria with the way you alluded to "haunted mansion". The way some of you talk about the lifestyle of Nigerians living in Nigeria amazes me. Nigeria has its realities but you have to learn to adapt here to be successful. For starters Electricity has improved greatly over the past 2 years in my area, these days i only switch on the Gen to warm it. There is solar as an alternative. Security is also top notch in my estate, i know the weakness of my country so i dont waka anyhow at odd hours and in odd places. Last week an indian wrote my firm to rent one of our new housing development on 5 years lease. Rent of 4mil per annum. Thesame country where everyone talks down on ,its where an indian wants to lockdown accomodation for 5 years. Before the lockdown i helped some chinese filled their landing card inside emirates airline, That would be their first time in Nigeria. Many of them are trooping to this country yet many of you are running away. Its a known fact that Nigerians are some of the most unpatriotic people in the world. I respect peoples decision to relocate if they wish to but there is no point rubbishing your country as if there are no success stories there. Come and see what Most Nigerians say about Nigeria to claim assylum in Canada, you will weep for this country. The whites will never respect you. I started business right from campus,i have never worked for any company. I manage a thriving property company right now and my networth is enough to retire if i wish . No side hussle, no shady dealing. On campus it was all about my ICAN exams, fellowship and classes there was no time for frivolities. I got it right early in life and i wasnt from a rich background, thats a Nigerian story you will not talk about and the CNN will not talk about. Like a member said here most of the statistics being quoted about Nigeria is related to the north. And i pray one day this entity will split so that those regions that want to develop will develop. Nigeria is not hell like a lot of you paint it and the western world is not heaven infact the best you will ever be is a second class citizen behind the whites. Recent attitude from racists like Trump should have shown you that there is no other alternative than to make your country work. We just need some little tweaking to get this country roaring, few things needs to be fixed and i believe hope is not lost. My brother who has lived 25 years outside Nigeria is taking up assets here and planning to relocate here pretty soon. Stop putting everybody together, when you are determined to make it you will make it. Irrespective of location. |
Theconglomerate:CBN has clarified that it wont defend naira for non essential products anymore. Buhari had some major influence on past decisions to defend the naira. Theyve learnt their lessons trust me they wont make thesame mistake again. Truth is nothing is certain anymore even Dangote Refinery may not be sufficient to help the Naira. After COVID any smart investor should never say never. |
seyisanya:Haba dont blame my people, as the cash is king geng were repeating their doomsday prophecies people like Oracle and Emma were preaching the gospel of peace. Anybody who didnt buy because of the crew didnt want to buy . ![]() |
RabbiDoracle:This is why i am a believer of emmanuelewumi's Long-term investment school of thought, i dont bother tracking things daily anymore. There is an adrenaline that comes when you are online, you will be tempted to buy or sell something. This was how i sold 100k unit of Zenith that i bought at N11 for N13. I still cant forgive myself till now. Bless your soul Rabbidoracle, you are good at what you do. |
mails4funshi:Thanks for this |
hustla:This one that you are always hunting for Nigerian cult stories,i hope you dont get forcefully blended soon ![]() The stories wey men don nack for here never do you abi? |
locodemy:I feel the profitability potential of the healthcare stocks are overrated as far as the Covid19 lockdown is concerned. I also dont see any special gain they might have made from the lockdown . The number of patients being treated for Coronavirus are too minimal to command any major profit for them. Many people were even more healthy during the lockdown because they were not exposed to environmental hazards and parasites like mosquitoes. Hope we also know that every Nigerian has turned to producers of sanitizers and face masks? ![]() Furthermore, i dont think any Nigerian firm even has the gut at the moment to research a vacinne or cure for Coronavirus like Gilead Sciences in the USA is doing, that would have been the money spinner. A favorable government policy towards importation of drugs can also wipe out any potential profit that accrue to that sector. If you think that is not possible think again as we have a clueless government in place for now. All they need is IMF threatening them, they will open the border. That said, investors should plan their trade and trade their plan nobody knows it all in this market. Just a different perspective. |
qmd24:Sir, You must be a learner on this one. A close friend works in a lagos hospital. One day, the child of a popular actress was admitted for some minor surgery. 5 different men paid huge sums to cover the child's bill after the actress made few calls. The doctor who doubles as the MD looked the other way. 2million naira was realised from a surgery of 200k. Sharing formula was 70:30. ![]() |
gamaliel9:The purge of the Diamond Bank elements is on. I have expected this long ago. |
NIGHTLIFE100:True, People with unrealistic expectation get dissapointed. Recently i heard of a group of young immigrant who sued the Canadian government for not delivering the eldorado they dreamt of. ![]() During my short stay in that country, i saw many african homes going through marital troubles,a lot ended up seperated. Infact there are some feminists that will encourage your wife to rebel, One woman got to Canada and discovered that she can share the house chores with husband, something she cant dare in Nigeria. This among other issues caused the couple to break up . For immature couple that cultural shock becomes a problem. For men used to side chicks in Nigeria, if madam catch you and she decides to deal with you,you are finished. In Canada its children first,Animal second, Women third, men get little right . Recently my young friend also complained about the rubbish his young boy was being taught in elementary school, they told him he can be male and female, he should take his time to choose his gender. I was talking to another friend recently who sent his kids to Nigeria for secondary education, they are Canadian citizens. This life, there is no single solution for everyone. People should just set their priority right, plan well and pray to God for Guidance. If you are doing very well in Nigeria, think twice before making that move. Many people do regret that abroad journey . But if you are struggling its better to struggle in Canada than to struggle in Nigeria. ![]() |
NIGHTLIFE100:You made some good points but better life has different meaning. Someone who was kidnapped and raped by Herdsmen would take the better life you described above in a twinkle of an eye,he wont even argue it. Same for a graduate who has been Job hunting in Nigeria for 2 years. afroxyz:The answer to this lies in your priority in life, your definition of what success means and your current status in Nigeria. |
emmanuelewumi:Its easier to make money in Nigeria and go to Canada to buy a property, than for you to make money in Canada to buy property in Nigeria. Why is he not complaining about the security he enjoys, the free education his kids enjoy and the top notch health services he gets?. At the end of the day its always a trade off, You will have to pick what is most important to you. There is no perfect move anywhere. Problem comes when people assume that one country will solve all their problems. Migrants must have realistic expectations. |
Godlylifeoneart:Applying this article to the Nigerian market is akin to Comparing Watermellon to Apple. For every Bank of America producing a dividend yield of Circa 3.5% on the NYSE ,We have the likes of GTB that can deliver 13% at current market prices. Even if we discount past dividend payment by 40% due to the loss our banks may incur from this lockdown, many of them will still return a 10% dividend in the current financial year which is not bad. When the economy recovers, Dividend yield should move back to 15% and above. Secondly most of these western markets are in their peak hence they keep creating new classes of assets and investment instruments. The Nigerian market has not even started though largely as a result of the directionless leadership we have. Our type of markets are not called Emerging markets without a reason. Personally,i will take the article with a pinch of salt. My advice to investors Dont let Devaluation meet the Naira in your bank account,Look for lowly priced assets that can weather the storm for the next 6 months and begin to BUY them. |
ahiboilandgas:Never too late to correct ones way and start the journey to financial independence. |
Pascopele:The Property didnt generate any rent or it didnt have any rental value? |
meshpips:Ok i see |
locodemy:Is OGG thesame Ambrose that was working with Stockswatch in those years? If Yes,its a small world. ![]() |
onegentleguy:How exactly will the wealth be transferred? Is it via Dividend payment,Bonus payment or Capital Appreciation? From the companies EPS what realistically can be paid as dividend? In this slow economy where is the real liquidity that will drive the stock to high prices and sustain it? Have you sat in any board meeting of UACN such that you have insider information or you are just basing your assumptions on released financial statements? Some members have compared this stock to Dangoteflour but if i remembered vividly Dangoteflour created wealth because of favorable acquisition plan. I have few UACN shares but i am very Neutral on the company for now because For every UACN on the exchange, i can identify 10 other stocks that wont give investors high BP. I respect your contributions on this thread but we should be careful of making these types of commitments. For a stock that wasnt liquid for 2 days infact people should be very careful. |
emmanuelewumi:Giving Birth in America,It was a vibrant thread in the travel section in its days. |
IyawoToBe:Lol my person, how you dey? . Its same Tvegas. . I was done with those missionary journey before Trump started his wahala. |
seanwilliam:Lol, see how you have used knife to share the virtual ROI. Dont be moved by what you see online,i may just be asking for asking sake. Back to your question, learn a skill or trade that can generate cash. Keep developing yourself in that trade or career till you are among the top in your industry. Develop your personal finance skills, have a saving habit ,Cultivate the habit of investing No matter how small. etc |
1kinggy:I wouldnt know but the way people react to short term price fluctuations here suggests a lot of people are only interested in trading. |
PharmAlfred:My brother in 2009 my friend bought heavy units of UBA at N60 with the hope of selling at N80 same stock selling for N5 now. My friend is still alive today, he has picked his lessons and moved on. Lesson1: Dont joke with fundamentals Lesson 2: Never ever buy a good company that is overpriced . Lesson 3: Keep your cash if you cant find value in the market,You must not always buy. Irrespective of how scary things may look or get at the moment, there is nothing new in this market. Its a cycle,it will have winners and losers. Just make enough preparation to be on the winning side. I have been in meetings where current happenings as regards Oil crash have been discussed 18 months ago. Some have started preparations long ago. Future results will also show investors that some companies have done scenario analysis and have prepared for this phase. Nigeria will survive the current events, if there is anything special about this country Its that resilient spirit. The only problem is that even when we survive, we may still never learn our lessons to reduce oil dependency, restructure and curb corruption. |
emmanuelewumi:Thanks Chief. |
