brocab:By grace I have been saved thru faith, i have been born of water and the holyspirit and i am a believer. it is arrogance to presume to know the state of my soul. |
Ngozi123:IT is interesting dat u think ur bini surname is reverse migration. |
Igboid:The languge simply means that the ibo migration was largest |
Igboid:The problem is that we dont know who are the migrants and who are the first settlers in this case. many of d villages could be bini, some ibo, so even igala, what we are sure is dat there are several migration waves. |
mrZENographer:i hate legalism but i'll indulge u. I don't know if u have ever prayed this psalms, but in it d bible give us examples of praying with the host of heaven ie angels and saints. if it isn't wrong for d bible to ask the hosts of heaven to pray with d believer, if it actually shows people praying with the host of heaven and it isn't a sin, then i am happy to do same. "Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, hearkening to the voice of his word! Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers that do his will!" (Ps. 103:20-21). And in Psalms 148 we pray, "Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens, praise him in the heights! Praise him, all his angels, praise him, all his host!" (Ps. 148:1-2). i hope u can see how profitable scripture is in teaching and instructing unto righteousness. |
U want me to readress dis so i will mrZENographer:u believe that the saints are members of d body of christ yet u deny them the rights and previledge of a member in d body of christ. My points is they are gone, they are in heaven. You cant be praying to them or requesting of them, because the bible says our mediator is Jesus Christ. It's him that intercedes for thesaints on Earth.you blive u can interceed yet when a fellow member of d body of christ interceed u cry foul! if u can interceed when Jesus is d sole mediator by praying in Jesus name, so too can d saints. He is called Our High Priest and Intercessor in the book of Hebrews.amen, and that didnt stop u from interceeding why should it stop another member of christ's body? |
NICENEDU29:It is not so cut and dry many anioma people are anscetral non ibos. besides anioma is a new construct. |
mrZENographer:drop d insult pls paul was talking about d body of christ, and u just said d saint are part of it. flee free to change ur previous position. if they are all part of d body then we have fellowship with them. 2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,... That the man of God may be thoroughly furnished unto every good work".now u have gone off point. |
brocab:I am not dead if tha is what u hope 4. |
Ngozi123:There are binis who now anioma, very many villages in onitcha-ugbo goes by d prefix 'idumu' that is a bini word, it shows that the time they were named the people had a bini-ish language, the history of issele uku says they migrated from bini. i also know a chiefly anioma family and their anscentral name is isibor, which is bini not ika or iboid. There is a lot of bini anscentry in anioma. |
sekundosekundo:Which u couldnt refute, u didnt provide a single historic source or propose an intelligible point. since u have descended to insult that shows u really have no point. |
mrZENographer:So you agree that the saints are members of the body of christ too, what does the bible say about the body of christ? WHAT DOES THE BIBLE TELL YOU ABOUT THE BODY OF CHRIST IN 1 COR 12 ESPECIALLY VERSE 21-26? Can the christians on earth say to the xtians in heaven, 'we dont need u'? Doesn't d bible say that the body is made that all members may have the same care for each other? And wen one suffer all do too. Does death stop those in heaven from fellowshiping in d body of Christ? |
oaroloye:WHAT THE HECK IS THAT? |
btoks:I guess i have some blame in derailing d thread. |
sekundosekundo:And yet you cant refute any of the points that i raised but have no problem with glib comments. |
brocab:Take ur own advise, go and study so u can talk factually. |
Gombs:I guess this is what you say when your doctrine of men is exposed. for the benefit of those reading, Jesus mediates a new covenant according to heb 9, a covenant is a bond, a contract between two parties, so Jesus is the mediator between two parties, and the bible tells us who the parties are 1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV) 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; the parties are God and man. that means every human being in Christ Jesus have a covenant with God. that is what the scriptures say. so gomb which do you prefer the word of God or the word of pastor chris? |
mrZENographer:Oh i think you are the one who needs to be freed from ur blinders. It seems ur pastors have lied to u that the saints are not members of the body of Christ, u have been decieved. Jesus said he who believes in him will never die. The saints are alive and the are part of d body of Christ. |
Amyleb:who told u the intercession of the saints isnt thru Jesus |
Geist:good point, at least u noticed she isnt refuting anything |
sekundosekundo:what historic source do u have that state otherwise, You can read about the works of eusebius below, they werent writting by the catholic church to decieve people https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eusebius |
sekundosekundo:were all these below also written by the catholic church? St. Irenaeus "The blessed apostles [Peter and Paul], having founded and built up the church [of Rome] . . . handed over the office of the episcopate to Linus" (Against Heresies 3:3:3 [A.D. 189]). Tertullian "[T]his is the way in which the apostolic churches transmit their lists: like the church of the Smyrneans, which records that Polycarp was placed there by John, like the church of the Romans, where Clement was ordained by Peter" (Demurrer Against the Heretics 32:2 [A.D. 200]). The Little Labyrinth "Victor . . . was the thirteenth bishop of Rome from Peter" (The Little Labyrinth [A.D. 211], in Eusebius, Church History 5:28:3). |
sekundosekundo:eusebius of caesaria is a christian historian any history student will know his works, they were written by him and contain the history of abt 300yrs of christianity. The fact that you think the catholic church wrote the works of eusebius to decieve people show you are ignorant of simple christian history go and educate yourself. This below was written by by another early xtian. "The blessed apostles [Peter and Paul], having founded and built up the church [of Rome] . . . handed over the office of the episcopate to Linus" (Against Heresies 3:3:3 [A.D. 189]). |
mrZENographer:hahaha, i am not a lady. The word of GOd is everlasting and imuttable. The word says all generation will call her blessed if we fail GOd will validate his word and cause even stones to fufill it. That is not idolatry that is the power of GODs word. I am really sorry for you if you do not remember the heroes of your faith when you pray, i am sorry for you that you dont ask their intercession and i am sorry you dont imitate their lives, for me abraham, peter, paul ... And even mary are my brothers and sisters in the faith, i remember them when i pray, i imitate their lives and since my bible tells me i have fellowsship with them, i also ask their intercession. I dont equate them witth God though, since that is idolatry and heavily condemned by the catholic church as they are mortal. Next time try to know what people belive before u sttart accusing them of what they dont believe, u have made 2 false accusations here, 1st u claimed catholics go to mass to hail mary, now u are lying that we equate her to GOD. THOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS |
sekundosekundo:Eusebius of caesaria is the foremost christian historian from that time Eusebius of Caesaria (A.D. 265-340) tells us in his "Church History" who succeeded him: Ch. 2 "After the martyrdom of Paul and of Peter, Linus was the first to obtain the episcopate of the church at Rome. Paul mentions him, when writing to Timothy from Rome, in the salutation at the end of the epistle". Ch. 13 "After [Emperor] Vespasian had reigned ten years Titus, his son, succeeded him. In the second year of his reign, Linus, who had been bishop of the church of Rome for twelve years [Note: it was actually 9 years], delivered his office to Anencletus. But Titus was succeeded by his brother Domitian after he had reigned two years and the same number of months." Ch. 15 "In the twelfth year of the same reign Clement succeeded Anencletus after the latter had been bishop of the church of Rome for twelve years. The apostle in his Epistle to the Philippians informs us that this Clement was his fellow-worker. His words are as follows: 'With Clement and the rest of my fellow- laborers whose names are in the book of life.'" And so forth. Does your faith community have a lineage like the one below? |
sekundosekundo:Tertullian, in The Demurrer Against the Heretics (A.D. 200), noted of Rome, “How happy is that church . . . where Peter endured a passion like that of the Lord, where Paul was crowned in a death like John’s [referring to John the Baptist, both he and Paul being beheaded].” Fundamentalists admit Paul died in Rome, so the implication from Tertullian is that Peter also must have been there. It was commonly accepted, from the very first, that both Peter and Paul were martyred at Rome, probably in the Neronian persecution in the 60s. In the same book, Tertullian wrote that “this is the way in which the apostolic churches transmit their lists: like the church of the Smyrnaeans, which records that Polycarp was placed there by John; like the church of the Romans, where Clement was ordained by Peter.” This Clement, known as Clement of Rome, later would be the fourth pope. Clement wrote his Letter to the Corinthians perhaps before the year 70, just a few years after Peter and Paul were killed; in it he made reference to Peter ending his life where Paul ended his. In his Letter to the Romans (A.D. 110), Ignatius of Antioch remarked that he could not command the Roman Christians the way Peter and Paul once did, such a comment making sense only if Peter had been a leader, if not the leader, of the church in Rome. Irenaeus, in Against Heresies (A.D. 190), said that Matthew wrote his Gospel “while Peter and Paul were evangelizing in Rome and laying the foundation of the Church.” A few lines later he notes that Linus was named as Peter’s successor, that is, the second pope, and that next in line were Anacletus (also known as Cletus), and then Clement of Rome. Clement of Alexandria wrote at the turn of the third century. A fragment of his work Sketches is preserved in Eusebius of Caesarea’s Ecclesiastical History, the first history of the Church. Clement wrote, “When Peter preached the word publicly at Rome, and declared the gospel by the Spirit, many who were present requested that Mark, who had been for a long time his follower and who remembered his sayings, should write down what had been proclaimed.” Lactantius, in a treatise called The Death of the Persecutors, written around 318, noted that “When Nero was already reigning (Nero reigned from 54– 68), Peter came to Rome, where, in virtue of the performance of certain miracles which he worked by that power of God which had been given to him, he converted many to righteousness and established a firm and steadfast temple to God.” These citations could be multiplied. No ancient writer claimed Peter ended his life anywhere other than in Rome. On the question of Peter’s whereabouts they are in agreement, and their cumulative testimony carries enormous weight. |
solite3:hahaha, i believe in the bible that is how i know you are teaching heresy, nowhere does the bible say who ever doesnt hold sola fide will go to hell. That is your own false doctrine by your own false teachers, it is not found in scriptures. Where does the bible say does who rejectt sola fide will go to hell? |
sekundosekundo:the same early xtians also record that peter was tthe first bishop of rome i.e pope. The place from which we get the details of the apostles death also tell us where they work. only when u are ignorantt will u deny thatt there are historic writings that show peter was the first bishop of rome, it is not propagada it is historic fact |
solite3:Stop diverting. i belive the bible, but nowhere does it say u much hold sola fide to be saved, that is rubish doctrine of men, to be saved d bible says repent, believe, confess and be baptised. |
sekundosekundo:The bible didnt record everything that the apostles did, their death weren't even recorded, do u see d work of adrew or bathlomew, can u show me frm d bible if paul died? but d early xtians put all dis down in writing. Some catholic priest do get married, unless u are ignorant of it. celibacy is a discipline many pries take on it is not a dogma. |
Onegai:an Undertaking is sign by d non catholic all over d world not just by easterners. |
evekils:Usually when two practicing catholics take up the covenant of marriage before a catholic priest and witnesses. |
