Well, when you see people subscribe to insults, hate, tribalism and bigotry, it is usually because they have NO knowledge of history. Any history or emperically reproducible facts based on dispassionate discourse and analysis.

I deliberately decided against ignorance and learn at every opportunity. Try it, it's very liberating indeed.

You often hear some Igbo spitting venom over Biafra and so called betrayal. Benin people were neutral to begin. Anioma people were still in Midwest cabinet and even still privy to meetings of SMC in Lagos. Until Biafra invaded Midwest and occupied Benin.

So, if you people are not solely allowed to write our history, it becomes distortion? Really? Through the Portuguese, the Dutch, the French and the English, Benin history and its territorial reaches were pretty well documented. But hey, we gave them up long ago.

But is not the same Anioma that Igbo East of the Niger don't really rally round to create a state for? With them preferring Adada and others? grin cheesy cheesy

Surprisingly, an Anioma just became governor of Delta State after 24 years, whereas an Anioma was first Premier of Midwest with full support of Edo people. I still remember childhood family friends from Anioma in top positions in goverment/civil service/Academia in Bendel. The Unukegwos, Ebies, Animeles and more. They did pretty well in Benin and were fully at home.

Actually Akiolu is descended from an Ijesa man not Bini
The last Oba of Lagos in the Bini(Ado) dynasty was Akinsemoyin, although this family stil exists they cannot become Oba
The current dynasty is Ologun Kutere son of an Ijesa priest and sister of akinsemoyin

Anyway if you know anything about lagos you will know that the Bini descendants see themselves as Awori yorubas nothing more nothing less
in otherword the matriach of the current dynasty is from the bini line? As a testament to the might of the old bini empire

Christianity Etc › Grace Is Free......pope Francis by Ubenedictus(op):
“Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.” Those were Jesus’ words in the 11th chapter of the Gospel of Luke from which Pope Francis took his cue at Thursday’s Mass at the Casa Santa Marta.

“The key,” he continued, is “of the gratuity of salvation, of that knowledge”. The scholars of the Law took away the key of God’s free gift of salvation, because, as the Holy Father said, “they thought that by respecting all the commandments one could be saved, and anyone who didn’t do just that was condemned”.

In this way, “they limited God’s horizons and made the love of God into something very, very small”, the Pope said. Instead of a love based on retribution, Pope Francis said “If I say ‘I love you’, but I have a personal interest behind it, that is not love, that is self- interest.” “This is why”, Pope Francis continued, “Jesus said ‘The greatest love is this: to love God with your whole life, with your whole heart, with your whole strength, and your neighbor as yourself. Because this is the only commandment which is up to the heights of the gratuity of God’s salvation." "The source is love; the horizon is love. If you have closed the door and taken away the key of love, you will not rise to the heights of the gratuity of salvation which you have received,” the Pope said.

Concluding, the Holy Father posed two questions: “Do I believe that the Lord saved me gratuitously, freely? Do I believe that I have done nothing to merit salvation?” “Let us ask ourselves these questions,” the Pope said, “only in this way will we be faithful to this merciful love: the love of a father and a mother, because God also says He is like a mother with us; love, expanded horizons, without limits. And let us not be fooled by scholars [of the Law] who limit this love.”

government of the day in making sure that I was
crowned. Many people do not understand that the
relationship between Benin and Agbor kingdoms is
a very ancient one. We are direct blood brothers, so at that time, there
was a lot of pandemonium, my life was at risk, the
safest place for me then was to have stayed with
my brother, the Oba of Benin. Therefore, I was
there briefly before they finally took me abroad.

Edo state people are theives.
the only Edo existence in the ss was because of the Edo empire, they tried to Edoize everybody even igbo land, but just as the ikwerres when they had the chance they changed the igbo names in ikwerre land to mk it sound ikwerre, SS minorities are Edo but they dont bear Edo names but prefer to bear igbo names.
you should educate urself. Edo is south south, the edo empire never tried to "edoize" everybody, the edos never imposed their language, culture or traditions o conquered lands. The ancient edo empire allowed every group to continue with its own cultures.

Here's actually an excerpt, albeit it was written by Emeka Esogbue but it is a direct summarization of Emma Okocha books.

"It was this battle that gave birth to Murtala, a “Local champion” called Ibrahim Haruna and Ibrahim Taiwo of the Nigerian Army. Africans first had the practical experience of the word “genocide” in Igbodo where hundreds of lives were lost in the Nigerian civil war. In Isheagu, the case was not different. It was here that the ulterior motive of the Nigerian troop clearly unfolded.

The people were now scampering for the safety of their lives having experienced what happened in Igbodo and some other places. In the Midwestern region, able bodied men went into hiding leaving women and children at the mercy of advancing soldiers. The people of Benin went identifying their Ibo-speaking neighbours from house to house for executions."
i hate on sided stories.

Are you aware that wen the biafran soldier decided to advance on lagos the midwestern council voted to let them pass without resistance? Are you aware of this that at the begining of the war d bini people had no problems allowing u guys to pass?

What was the result? Asaba and bini was looted! In bini in particular there was large scale raping and killing by d same biafran soldiers who were offered safe passage!

Because of the genocide th NA committed few people talk abt the atrocities the biafran soldiers committed. The biafrans were later halted in ore and forces to retreat.

This is the 1st time i'll hear an ibo claim that edos were against them and going abt killing them in d civil war.

now not only are edo people petty thieves they are also Big liars shocked am not surprised doh.
bini empire was not in d business of "capturing" people. Every world empire is known for is expansion activities and the bini empire was no exception. But it never showed d common domineering tendencies oda empires showed toward those who lost in battles. The reverse was the case, every group of people under the bini empire were ably represented by chiefs from those places who become part of the bini empire. There are still ika chiefs, ondo chiefs, itsekiri chiefs in th omo n'ba palace till date.

The bini empire never reduced conquered tribes to slaves, it was a honorable empire certainly not given to stealing and lying.

The fact that u are insulting another tribe says alot about u and d tribe u claim to represent.

I would say it is a certainty that the NT was tampered with. As far back as the 2nd century CE the likes of Tertullian complained bitterly of changes to the composition of the scriptures as did others. Writings like the "Shepherd of Hermas" and the "Clementine Recognitions" were at one time considered canonical, they were removed for very frivolous reasons, the Apocalypse of John (Revelations) only just managed to get into the NT at the very last gasp, it was considered "un-Christian".
i think u just goofed.

Kindly give me the name chapter and verse of Tertullian pre-heretical writting where he claimed the new testament was tampered with.

Books liked sherpherd of hermas and d clementin works were never universally recognised, many of the ancient church never considered them canonical, the 2nd century had very many writtings flying around many were heretical, among the non heretical ones some where considered canonical others weren't. The most widely accepted works with were ascribe to the apostles were accepted.

I remember quoting the passage above, i preach Christ and him crucified. There is no better depiction of my belief than a crucifix, it is the summary of d Christian faith. From what Sarassin wrote, there's a possibility (Here's me assuming again) that the new testament could have been tempered with. Why I say this? I've read articles about some books not included in the bible. Also, the writers of these books could be anybody
books which weren't included didn't pass the criteria set. They were neither written by apostles and some didn't bear apostolic teachings.

The evil satanic replacement in catholic.

Matt16:13-19 (Paraphrased)
And Jesus asked His disciples saying, Who do men say I am?
Some said, they say u r the prophet, some say John the Baptist, and others Jeremiah.
Jesus turned and said to them, But who do YOU say I am? ( You go everywhere with me, see all the miracles done, u sleep where I sleep, eat what I eat. WHAT and WHO do YOU say I AM)
There were all quite. But Peter spoke up and said " You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.
Jesus answered and said to him, flesh and blood had not REVEALED this to you
Jesus answered and said, you are peter, and upon this rock (which ROCK?) I build my Church... Why didn't jesus say, upon you Peter the Rock, why did he say, upon THis rock, again which rock?
Was it on peter the Church is to be built or on the Revelation Peter had of who Christ is?
It is that revelation that keeps christians even wen they r threatened with death.
this is what happens when you don't read scriptures correctly. Jesus spoke aramic, he said "you are Cephas and upon this Cephas I"ll build my Church". the word Cephas is peter in Greek it means rock in english.

if you claim that Jesus was not referring to Peter in the above the let me ask you who was he talking to when he said "I'll give you the keys of the kingdom"

THE POPE IS NOT A CHRISTIAN, he is CATHOLIC.
you are aware this is a fallacy right? it is like saying Patriarch Krill of the orthodox church is not a christian he is an orthodox
