Totally agree with this...One fear that is gripping a lot of Christians today is the fear to stand up and make a difference , the fear to run for political positions or to aspire to be CEOs and bosses.... and funny enough the excuse is that they don't want to be "one of them doing bad things"
this is on point!

Why can't catholic christians come out and make the difference? Fear is an enemy.

Only a filthy worm that the Lord loves so much.
wow!

I almost think we are brothers!

I woke up this morning and two phrase kept repeating in my head,

the first was a psalm, the passage that says "I am a worm I am not a man"
the second is d episcopal moto of pope francis, "he look upon him with eyes of mercy".

It is interesting that d first thing i see on my "mentions" pages is an almost exact repetition.

I don't really believe in coincidence, there is something i nid to think about.

Well, you can continue arguing with yourself and denial the truth in order to hold on to the "religion of men".

It is simple, I worship the God described as "Spirit" (John 4:24) but you worship a man born by Marry.
"God is not a man," (Num 23:19).

Everything I have been saying I quote from the Bible but if we are using the same Bible and you want to argue with God's word then take your bible and argue with because I am definitely not going to waste my time arguing with you. It only shows you don't believe your Holy book.
Definitely we don't worship the same God.
that simply means you don't even understand the bible you are holding...

The bible also clearly says that that "spirit" i.e the Word "became flesh and dwelt among us" (jn1:14), tha word is identifies as Jesus and he took flesh in the womb of a woman and was born by her. The word incarnate has a mother, and if you do not believe this then i don't see how u can even be a believer in the death of Christ or even recieve salvation.

The problem is sum ppl pay too much attention into "how Jesus got flesh" all in a means to gt a reason to "worship" mary

In all sincerity, we re nt against u nd ur belief.

Simple questions..

Do u tink ur going to heaven is tied to u honouring mary or not?

Do u tink ur answers to ur prayers in tied to honouring mary or nt?

What is ur definition of idolatory?
i believe going to heaven is tied to obedience to the word of God and the word of God clearly says all generation will call her blessed, so yes my dear, i think delibrately refusing to follow that scripture passage may actually do harm to your salvation.

Idolatry, is taking any person, animal place, thing or even concept to be God and worshiping i as such.

Good day Mr bene....

Now about honour, there re in to forms honour to man and honour to God( supernatural being)

Honour is derived frm the word KABOD means heavy or weighty. The figurative meaning, however, is far more common: "to give weight to someone." To honor someone, then, is to give weight or to grant a person a position of respect and even authority in one's life. A person grants honor most frequently on the basis of POSITION, STATUS, or WEALTH, but it can and should also be granted on the basis of character.
as you have said honor is acknowledging "weight" in a person. In another words Honor is simply granting people RESPECT based on their qualities, character, position, status or even previledge. I do not understand why you think the mother of Jesus doesn't belong to a status deserving of respect, i do not believe it is my job to even try to convince you.

I want u to ask youself a series of question, the woman wu gave birth to my savior and mr president wu do u think is more deserving of respect? How come u respect ur president but u think it is wrong to respect the mother of the king of kings. Ask your self.

Now my question again..where and ow in the bible did God command us to honour mary??
in he exact place where mary overshadow by the holyspirit prophesied, "from henceforth all generations will call be blessed", that is where scriptures bear witness that she is to be respected in every generation.

[quoe]Also I got ur idea about redemption and being saved....i give u a 2\10.......lol

Are u redeemed or saved??

How I wish u knew that we re in a dispensation of grace not law... unlike what was before the death of Jesus,

How I wish u've come to the realisation of the in those day it was the priest that go to God with the prayers of the ppl, unlike now that we approach God personally as a father

The bible says in the last days I wuld pour out my spirit on all men.... if u understand all of these in d revelation of it, you would. Understand, when I say I am "highher" in grace.[/quote]are you also aware that peter, paul, mathew, mark, james luke, philip and all the apostles were born in the dispensation of the law? Are you also higher than them because u were born in the dispensation of grace?

Are you also aware that mary recieved a full dose(perfect) of grace even before the dispensation of grace started? So tell me how you are superior in grace to the person God proclaim "full of grace".

Mr brother I av 1001 questions about ur faith to ask, but I wuldbt bore u wt dt, because "catholic church" isn't ur surrname... so I wuld let it pass, but if u tink u re in d best position to Mk me understand sum concept regarding ur faith plz indicate.. so I can cum tru wt it grin grin grin
my dear, i am happy to answer any question you may have about my faith, all you need to do is make a thread and mention my username and i'll try my best to be there.

The big ban.g theory - the supernatural event - which you canvass for is not the theory endorsed by the cosmologists. God is not in their own theory. Except you mean to make your own addition to their theory.
actually there are many scientist who have no problem with God in that theory, i am sure a google search will show that much. I am not making an addition, i am accepting that a form of big bang may be correct. Put simply in the the words of pope francis, if the big bang happened then God had a hand in it.

My research shows that you are probably correct on this point.

Probably true.

No.

It did not categorically said he went to Rome either but we can adduce that he did. Acts 12:17 shows that Peter departed to "another place" and he did not surface again until when he spoke again in Jerusalem (Acts 15:7). During this period it is most likely that Peter had travelled to the Gentile world to preach the gospel.

What I mean by Scriptures is the God breathed Word of God written by holy men of God from Genesis to Revelation by the OT prophets and apostles of Christ and these did not come from the Catholic tradition.

In the course of my research I stumbled across a goldmine that shows that Peter most likely went to Rome and how the RCC originated. Below is the overwhelming conclusion of that link.
http://www.hope-of-israel.org/petrome.htm
since you seem to now think that peter did go to rome and preach in rome and even die in rome, that is an improvement.

Your link mention justin and eusebius as the people who write about this "magnus simon", so which Church did Justin and eusebius belong to? Is it d manus church or the christian church?

Olaadegbu, this kurukere move you're trying to make by asking who wrote the book of Enoch will not pay you at all. You'll open a can of worms about who wrote each and every one of the books of the bible. And if your argument is that the autographs are inauthentic therefore the book is false then you must dismiss your bible likewise.
ola is just playing his silly game, the authors of many books in the new testament were name by tradition only, the bible he is holding is his hand is largely a product of tradition, the same bible records extra biblical jewish traditions and the same bible asks the christian to hold steadfastly to apostolic Traditions, but ola prefers to play his game of stawman, his aim is to bring the thred to an end by displaying is ignorance or rather his insincerity.

Christianity Etc › Re: A Thread For Catholics by Ubenedictus(m): 7:17pm On Dec 17, 2014
Since this place isn't bubling yet, i will talk a little more about John the baptist.

John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sin. And there went out to him all the country...(mk 1:4,5,6)

At a point in Jesus' ministry he asked "what did you go to look at in the wilderness?", every advent the church presents us with the image of John the baptist and it seem like Christ is asking me again, "what did you go to look at in the desert?" so dear friends I'll pick a few points from my reflection.

SET APART.

The first thing I noticed about John was that he was set apart...scriptures say, "John appeared in the wilderness", the widerness is not a city, infact, no one lives in the wilderness, people run away from the wilderness but that was where John appeared.

He was a stand out guy, he refused to be classed "among" others so to speak, he was not to be graded with them, he wasn't going to flow with the mix, he wasn't just another guy!

John will not be graded according to the step-ups and expectations of others, he wasn't simply going to flow with the tide or do stuff because others are doing it. He will not drink wine becos that was what was popular at the time or dress in silk robe as an expression of class! No John will have his own class, he will make his own cuture or rather he will adopt a different culture.

His example is the direct opposite of our todays world, we want to do the stuff our mates are doing, we want to be counted "among", we don't want to be labeled a jew/or to stand out or be odd, we want to be familiar, accepted and considered acceptable.

One of the foremost enemies of progress is the fear to stand out, the fear of been your own person, the fear of taking on your own self identity, do not aspire to be "just another one of them", do not aspire to be just another human been, infact that is a sin, a failure to appreciate Gods' creative diversity. Nobody is going to recognise you when you are just one of them. There are 20 people in a bus and they all ate some snack without saying a prayer...that is not news worthy, you followed all your peers to party hard after recieving your salary...that is no news, infact nobody is interested, it is just one of those things, alexis sanchez was playing the ticki taka of baca in bacelona and i didn't know he was a good player. There is nothing phenomenal about following the crowd, there is nothing beautiful about been one of them, assert your own identity, do not be afraid of what they will say, if nobody is praying before eating make a big sign of the cross and pray before you eat, stand out and say no! If you are an alexis sanchez get out of your own bacelona no matter how beautiful ticki taka seems, assert your own identity, you are who you are. You are a catholic christian, you are a King, Priest and Prophet, prince in Gods Kingdom, heir to his promise and dominion, let it show and you will get the response John got.

Scriptures say that the people flowed to him from all the country! May people seek you out for been "out-stand"ing through Christ our Lord!

Good evening.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio was born in Flores, a barrio of Buenos Aires. He was the eldest of five children of Mario José Bergoglio, an Italian immigrant accountant born in Portacomaro (Province of Asti) in Italy's Piedmont region, and his wife Regina María Sívori, a housewife born in Buenos Aires to a family of northern Italian (Piedmontese-Genoese) origin. Mario José's family left Italy in 1929, to escape the fascist regime of Benito Mussolini. His daughter María Elena confirmed that their emigration was not caused by economic reasons. She is the Pope's only living sibling. His brother Alberto died in June 2010.

Today catholics and friends all over the world, wish the man of peace Happy birthday and God's blessings on him

I was reading yesterday's gospel, and it struck me...John was ask "Who are you?", he knew what they wanted him to be, he knew what Isreal was waiting for, he knew!
He could have increased his prestige and become the alledged "messiahnic prophet", but he said "I am not". He didn't try to feed off their ignorance, he didn't try to make others look at him as some christ, he did try to decieve them, he was original.

"I am not", that is something that many of us are afraid to say, we are afraid to acknowlegde our weaknesses, we are afraid to agreed to our inadequacies, we do not want people to look down on us, we do not want to be worthless...so many at times we sacrifice our self identity on the altars of pride. We project a false image, we project our false selves and we live a lie.

Today as we are about to rest, let is remember that our inadequacies are a part of who we are, are weakness are the points of our transfiguration, they are a part of us. We can show others than we are damaged, we can show we are not perfect, we can show we are defecient, that we are lacking and there is something yet to be acheived. We can say "I am not...."
We can acknowledge who we are not, only then we will boldly proclaim who we are. "I am a voice crying in the wilderness", that is a powerful phrase, John knew who he was not, so well that he could now define who he was, the voice is the instrument of speech and John was the instrument of the word. He was ready to decrease and find happiness in his decrease. He will be happy till death.

Dear friends, whatever your weakness is do no hide it acknowledge it and you will be in a path of renewal. You are you, you are unique and there is only one you, you can be a better you, God wants a better you, he is committed to a better you, but he doesn't want you to be me.

Be you!

Gud evening.
