Reyginus: Please, what is this?
you claimed the church that compiled d bible isnt d catholic church, i gave u d text of d council of carthage (one of d councils responsible for compiling d bible) so you'll see that d council was all about the catholic church.
Christianity Etc › Re: My Problem With Catholism-An Introspection by Ubenedictus(m): 3:49pm On Mar 19, 2013
Reyginus: Perhaps, I'm not aware of that. You know what I know, as catholic, the church is to embrace every christain under an umbrella.
there cant be a truly one umbrela without one faith! Thats d fact.
In the real sense of the word, nothing can trully be particularized and yet have the sentiment for general at the same time. That it is both Roman and Catholic is even a contradiction.
it is no contradiction, it is catholic, embracing all nations, races etc, and roman becos it is headquatered in rome.

A little research may also show that the protestants actually were responsible for adding "roman" to d "catholic church", d adding reached its apex when some anglicans decided to adopt d name catholic, the "anglo-catholics" as they called themselves. We catholics adopted d name they gave us so we don't confuse ourselves. Futher research will also show that of recent official church document exclude d word "roman" which d protestants gave us.
There is no contradiction.

Christianity Etc › Re: Pope Francis' Run-in With Benedict XVI Over The Prophet Mohammed by Ubenedictus(m): 3:30pm On Mar 19, 2013
vedaxcool: Pope Francis came close to losing his position within the Catholic Church after he criticised his predecessor seven years ago.

In 2005, then Pope Benedict quoted from an obscure medieval text which declared that the Prophet Mohammed, founder of the Islamic faith, was "evil and inhuman", enraging the Muslim population and causing attacks on churches throughout the world before an apology was issued.

Reacting within days to the statements, speaking through a spokesman to Newsweek Argentina, then Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio declared his "unhappiness" with the statements, made at the University of Regensburg in Germany, and encouraged many of his subordinates with the Church to do the same.

"Pope Benedict's statement don't reflect my own opinions", the then Archbishop of Buenos Aires declared. "These statements will serve to destroy in 20 seconds the careful construction of a relationship with Islam that Pope John Paul II built over the last twenty years".

The Vatican reacted quickly, removing one subordinate, Joaquín Piña the Archbishop of Puerto Iguazú from his post within four days of his making similar statements to the Argentine national media, sending a clear statement to Cardinal Bergoglio that he would be next should he choose to persist.

Reacting to the threats from Rome, Cardinal Bergoglio cancelled his plans to fly to Rome, choosing to boycott the second synod that Pope Benedict had called during his tenure as pontiff.

"The only thing that didn't happen to Bergoglio was being removed from his post", wrote investigative journalist Horacio Verbitsky in his column in left-wing daily newspaper Página/24. "The Vatican was very quick to react."

Cristina Kirchner, the Argentina president, stated at the time that such diatribes were "dangerous for everyone".

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/religion/the-pope/9931030/Pope-Francis-run-in-with-Benedict-XVI-over-the-Prophet-Mohammed.html
that isn't enough to remove him from his post, while i find nothing wrong with pope emeritus benedict address, d address did disrupt the relationship johnpaul had built. Benedict was talking like an intellectual, he mistakingly thought he was also talking to intellectuals who could consider issues with a level head.
Benedict wasnt insulting islam, he was quoting an ancient discussion but d muslims thought he was insulting them.
And card jorges comments were correct.

MacDaddy01: First and foremost, I do not hate white people. You mistake me for another person. I have not said anything racist. I also live in the UK- I would have run mad by now if I hate white peeps because I am surrounded by them.
sorry if i mistook you for another.
Secondly, of course, to a slave like you, there is no problem seeing a white Jesus on the cross because you have no sense. Was Jesus a white man in the first place? Ignorant christian
i would ignore your inability to make a polite discuss. Peace.
The catholic church stop preaching about condoms to westerners as soon as secularism and proper sex education took place. It is only in Africa that the hypocrite of a church can flex muscle on the ignorant
sorry my dear you have been misinformed, the sinfulness of contraception is still preached worldwide, i would argue that it is only that africa that priest seem to preach it once a year.

Also, no one is saying that education is not important, what we are saying is that indoctrination is not education. We need schools not religious schools where pedophile priests can touch young boys and replace science with religious babble
i'm very sure you've never stepped your foot in a jesuit school. Besides what you wrote above is a wild rant that has no place in reality. The schools were science is replaced with religion only exist in your illusions and fantasy.

Christianity Etc › Re: The Jesuit Oath That The New Pope Has Taken - Is This Biblical? by Ubenedictus(m): 2:05pm On Mar 19, 2013
truthislight: threads are not just closed for no justifiable reasons.

Someone can post the correct oath instead and help let us see.

See this statement below, it says that oaths "are not cast on stones"

you said the pope decides whether or not to take an oath, does he also decides which oath to also take?

If no, can someone produce the right/actual oath/standard oath that the pope takes if he "decides to take one"?

Which oath will he take?

If no standard oath, does that mean that he decides on which oath to take?

If he decides on which oath to take, is it possible or not possible that a certain pope that at once upon a time certain pope(s) may have taken the oath at the OP?

I wish this oath thing is properly addressed.

If some one (a catholic) gets angry for the op posting that oath, it means that he also dislike the OP oath, but what if it is true that that used to be the oath/is the oath taken?

If you have the reason(s) not feelings, that it is not the oath that popes ever took in the past or at present, do you mind sharing your reasons/evidence with us?

If you hate the oath at the OP, that means the oath is bad, fine, then you can also relate with some of us and see why some of us "ignorantly" curse at the oath.

So, please, help show that such bad oath is not being taken by pope(s) today and was NEVER taken by pope(s) in the past and clear our "ignorance".

Thank you.
Peace.
read the wiki page by my bro styl. Popes do not have a "papal oath" that they should/may/must swear. There is no standart oath nor makeshift oath, in d 21cent some people claim there is a papal oath but that is untrue, no such oath exist. Or better still, today is d inuaguaration ceremony of pope francis, why not watch and see if there is an oath?

I'm usually against it when italo call people names but if he does to to this post i'll actually feel no need to caution him
alexleo: The hail mary trash where he mentioned Jesus was just catholic ritual which he was bound to fulfill but HE DIDNT MENTION JESUS IN HIS SPEECH. I DONT COUNT THE JESUS HE MENTION WHILE FULFILLING THE CATHOLIC HAIL MARY RITUALS AS MENTIONING JESUS IN HIS SPEECH. I DONT SEE ANY ERROR TO APOLOGIZE FOR IN THE TITLE OF THIS THREAD.
and sorry for you ignorance, saying 'hail mary' isn't some ritual a new pope must fulfil.
Christianity Etc › Re: Jesus was Mentioned In Pope Speech in retrospect by Ubenedictus(m): 9:04pm On Mar 18, 2013
alexleo: Whats good about the nonsense hail mary prayer?
Even in our Lord's prayer was there anything mentioned to warrant the hail mary prayer? And if Christ didnt pray hail mary and didnt even mention anything that suggests praying through Mary then its you and your pope that will engage in such rubbish. FOOLISHNESS AT ITS PEAK. CATHOLICS ARE SO SWALLOWED UP IN IDOL WORSHIP. PITY.
this is a diversion from the topic, i refuse to join u in your failure to speak the truth.
Christianity Etc › Re: @Goshen360: Justification - A Discourse I'd Like You To Consider. by Ubenedictus(m): 9:01pm On Mar 18, 2013
Goshen360: No, it does not involves RE-justification. I answered the to shdemidemi indirectly. When we sin after coming to Christ, there're many reasons to that but one of them is 'yielding to the flesh'. In this case, it is not that we are being rejustified, we are already are and at the same time, it doesn't give us license to continue to sin. Off course, you know too well there's nothing like RE-justification.

The repentance in my former context simple means, stop sinning willfully or stop continue to sin willfully thinking the Grace is available and neither does it mean you have to start confessing and accepting Christ afresh like a sinner coming to Christ for the first time. No, you've already known Christ in the gift of salvation only such person haven't repented perhaps of some sins or still yielding to the flesh.

I hope I answered you question.
you did.
Christianity Etc › Re: @Goshen360: Justification - A Discourse I'd Like You To Consider. by Ubenedictus(m): 8:59pm On Mar 18, 2013
Goshen360: Brother, which one comes first? Your believing and\or faith in Christ BEFORE you were baptized OR You were baptized before you believed in Christ?
i think the bible has the right numbering, it says "believe and be baptised"

I believe your answer will give a clear understanding of what I was trynna say.

The demonstrative as implied talked about by James is an act that follows the inward invisible act of faith\believing. How does one show his\her faith? By carrying out action; in this case works. Works alone doesn't justify; works itself is a function springing out from our believe. Our works alone by itself doesn't justify us but our faith is on the finished works of Christ that justifies us. Believing in the finished works of Christ and out of that flows our works as a sign of our believing or faith in Christ's finished works.
yeah we are not made righteous by our works i'll leave it at that.

MacDaddy01: Ubenedictus and Italo have no shame.
They are what we call "uncle toms" in the Western world. They love being slaves to the white man and also love hating on everything black.
a subtle insult, one i chose to ignore, correction i'm black and i love it,but that isn't a reason to hate whites like u do.

I can assure you that the Jesus on the crucifix in the biggest catholic churches in Lagos and Abuja are white- Ubene and Italo do not care.
what importance does d colour of the crucifix have? I said it before you too are a racist.
I can assure you that the Catholic church was involved in the African slave trade of our pagan forefathers- Ubene and Italo do not care
tell me something! The bishops and priest were d slave traders werent they?? The all the countries in the west were in one way or d other involved in slavery does that mean no black man should live in the west??
I can assure you that the catholic church has preached against condoms to the detriment of HIV heavy African countries- Ubene and Italo do not care
she also preached against condoms to the west who are well invested in population control through birth control. Murder doesn't stop been sinful becos it was committed by a black or white man, so is artificial contraception.

Worse off, what kind of Nigerian black man calls himself "Italo" or Benedictus? Why not bleach all white then go and live in rome Italy? You love Itlaian/latin names?
what african man calls himsel macdaddy, is that an african name?

Worse off, the catholic church has never one day did major steps to improve Africa with all its power. When has the catholic church ever tried to use its funds to build roads and internet cafes/facilities for the poor man since the Nigerian government has failed? The catholic church rather builds schools to indoctrinate the youth and provide temporary solutions so that the average Nigerian keeps running back to the church.
I'm an atheist but I'd rather be a pagan bush man that be a rich catholic.
And FYI, I was a catholic for 22 years. angry angry angry
so education isn't a developmental step?? Weldone!
