Boomark: Are catholics that heartless. Dont they feel for that man who should be buried to rest in peace. cutting out his heart to keep in a room where you kneel and bow before it in prayer is diabolical. it reminds me of some secret society movies in Nigeria.
another arguement from emotion, so taking his heart will stop him from resting in peace.

Christianity Etc › Re: Igbo Catholicism On Trial In Ahiara Diocese: By Stan Chu Ilo by Ubenedictus(m): 10:06am On Mar 11, 2013
D ibo case aside, i think the stuff is more than an ibo problem.
A similar thing (though d circumstance may differ) happened in edo state. Uromi diocese was created when arch bishop Epku was archbishop of benin. Rumours had it that he didnt judge any Esan man qualified for d ministry of bishop and so didnt nominate anybody for consideration, so for d uromi people, out of the blue came akubueze a guy nobody had even heard of (from isseluku diocese). During that time d priests in uromi where busy preaching about d universality of the church, it seems d idea worked and after a little hesitation akubueze who couldnt speak a single esan word was accepted.
That wasn't the case in benin archdiocese. Ekpu retired and a white man from ireland named burke became archbishop. Nobody had a problem with that, burke was the oldest bishop in d arch diocese after ekpu. He was welcome and was successful as archbishop until his past sins came back to hunt him. He was called to rome to answer for himself, he decided to retire into solitude and prayer. Because of the circumstance of burkes retirement he couldn't nominate anybody and Gbuji was appointed as apostolic administrator, rumours had it he wasted no time nominating his so akubueze for d archbishoric (akubueze was gbuji boy both from isseluku) while akubueze was about 5yr old as bishop. Bishop Dunia of auchi was older and more expirenced but akubueze had been approved by rome as archbishop. Benin disagree.
If it was time to chose d archbishop, dunia was next, if akubueze who was d youngest could be chosen then why not throw away all the bottle necks and appoint a benin man bishop of d benin metropolitan see. The benin people didnt want and ibo man, if dunia wasnt to be appointed then they want a benin son (neither dunia or auchi diocese complained, infact they didnt seem to have a problem with the process). Benin men and women even knight who should know better wrote petitions and sent to rome, the message was clear they didnt want an ibo man.
But rome had already given d directive and akubueze was installed, about 9months later, the benin groups started withdrawing their petitions.
The ahiara diocese case is just d expression of d canker worm eating deep into d fabric of our society, dat worm is ethnicity.

Christianity Etc › Re: 6000 Romans Bow Before A Piece Of Decayed Meat. by Ubenedictus(m): 9:06am On Mar 11, 2013
Pastor Kun: On the contrary it is you who is being emotional about a wrong practise just because it is a catholic tradition. Any true christian would know that idolising any object or person is contrary to the will of God.
here comes d merryband!

Before u accuse someone of idolising an object or person, you must prove that d "someone" is worshiping d idol or person. If not u dont have a case.
So my dear, it will be interesting to know how u come to d conclusion that an object/person is been idolised.
Christianity Etc › Re: 6000 Romans Bow Before A Piece Of Decayed Meat. by Ubenedictus(m): 9:02am On Mar 11, 2013
ijawkid: Hope u know worshipping could also just mean bowing down..............deep down y'all catholics know what we are talking about...... angry......the images, pound of flesh, statutes you bow down to are all connected to and part of your devotional routines(worship).............

Is it right in the eys of Yahweh and his Son??.......would they be happy with this lawless act??............
devotion doesn't mean worship, and sorry when protestants start their accusation and "catholic know what i'm talking about" it just spoils everything. It d same as calling them dishonest.

Bowing could and maybe an expression of worship, but what makes it worship or not isn't the posture, it is the heart and intension of the person. Whatever posture d person assumes whether bowing or even prostration doesnt make it worship! The intention of d person does. And u ijawkid and everybody here doesn't even know d intention of d next guy, how do you presume to know d intention of the people you criticize? Even d people u criticise totally say "i do not worship it" then are u God that u should know otherwise.
Worship isnt a matter of accident or posture, it must come from d heart and unless u know d heart u can not judge.

I just gave a simple explanation, i'll be unimpressed if your response is emotional instead of factual.

Goshen360: ^^^
That's not what this thread is about and that's not what I'm saying. This thread is about whether the physical water in baptism itself is what washes away our sin? The answer is NO. Should we be baptized into water by immersion? YES!
no! The thread isn't about whether d physical water washes away sins. The thread is asking "does baptism wash away sins?" simple question.
Christianity Etc › Re: Baptism Does Not Wash Away Sin by Ubenedictus(m): 7:28am On Mar 11, 2013
Goshen360: John's baptism is different from the Christian baptism. In John 1:23-27, John preaches to prepare their hearts and to look for the Messiah who is able to forgive sins. In John 1:29, he introduces Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Apparently, if water washes sin, John's water baptism would have done that and he (John) would not have looked forward to another (Christ) who takes away the 'sins' of the world. In verse 31-33, we find John is baptizing to reveal the Christ to Israel, his ministry is then to decrease and Jesus' is to increase.

In Matthew 3:11, John contrasts his baptism by water with Jesus' baptism by the Holy Spirit (Mk. 1:8 )."I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance but He who is coming after me is mightier than I. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit." (Mk. 1:7-8 )

Acts 1:5, Jesus said to them "For John truly baptized with water; but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." Jesus is making a distinction between water and Spirit baptism, just as John did. John's water baptism always showed repentance - It looked forward to Christ whom they would receive. The Holy Spirit's work would be inward. This is the spiritual work of God to regenerate a believer and put them supernaturally in the body of Christ. Water can never wash away sins in a literal sense since it is from the outside.

The sin nature is inside which only God can reach and cleanse, which is why baptism must be viewed as a symbolic ceremony of the inward change by the Spirit Himself. Forgiveness and cleansing are in the person and work of Jesus, not the 'symbol' of cleansing itself via water baptism. To trust the ceremony alone or with Christ's work is spiritual suicide. From looking at all the text we find that John baptized people unto repentance looking forward to the Son of God, the Lamb who alone takes way our sins - John never could say your sins are forgiven or washed away via water baptism, but Jesus did without water baptism.
ur last statement just made the whole thing sound funny.
Christianity Etc › Re: Baptism Does Not Wash Away Sin by Ubenedictus(m): 7:25am On Mar 11, 2013
Necessary for what actually?
The baptism of John was merely declaring to the world that one has repented,as long as one has repented baptism or not wnt change that fact.
Likewise when we are been baptized in Christ.
The Water thing is merely a declaration to the world what has already taken place in ones live.
the bible doesnt agree with you, my bible says "baptism saves you now", it also says " be baptised for d forgiveness of sins and the reception of the spirit"
if u cant read d scriptures then i'm sorry.

Christianity Etc › Re: Blessed Virgin Mary Crying Out Blood by Ubenedictus(m): 7:12am On Mar 11, 2013
Eileen111111: You said, "So you now agree that Jesus did not create Mary but just her son. Have you forgotten how you are busy quoting that Jesus created all things to support the defeated trinity doctrine."

My response
I did not say that "Jesus did not create Mary but just her son." God created Mary, as he created all creatures, the heavens and the earth. It is possible for Mary to give birth to her Creator. The Bible says, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:16) Nothing is an obstacle for God.

Also read the Angel Gabriel's words to Mary, "And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived* a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren; for nothing will be impossible for God." (Luke 1:36-37)

Christianity Etc › Re: @Goshen360: Justification - A Discourse I'd Like You To Consider. by Ubenedictus(m): 11:02pm On Mar 10, 2013
Goshen360: Thank God you quoted me. I never said it is once and for all. I said, it is a one time event that happened when a man is saved in obedience to the gospel of Christ. However, it is dangerous also to teach the one and for all stuff or abusing the Grace of God that comes from the privilege of justification. There's also justification as past and present guilt provided we DO NOT CONTINUE IN SUCH OR SAME SIN thinking the Grace is available.
sorry if i misunderstood, i equate one time event to once and for all (sincerely i can hardly see the difference btw d two statement, but i'll give d benefit of d doubt).
Christianity Etc › Re: The Catholic Church Is 150 Years In Nigeria by Ubenedictus(m): 10:56pm On Mar 10, 2013
Rexyl: You should understand that missionaries were primarily after the gospel, fulfilling the work of the father which is clearly stated for you and I in Matthew 28:18-20 and Mark 16:15-18. For this cause they suffered from harsh weather and strange illnesses that resulted to death and burial of some of them in Africa. I could understand that you are trying to pollute their activities with the excesses of the colonial imperialism and activities of the merchants who came alongside for a different mission. Pls don't make mistake that education and transformation brought by these good people are the cause of your present predicament. They were the people of God who suffered a lot for the upliftment of the downtrodden. You should appreciate the legacies they left behind. Infact I have always appreciated their indelible prints on education in terms of well organised structures and good facilities with which they equipped schools and colleges “legacies“ left behind which your community/political heads have found difficult to maintain.
amen

Christianity Etc › Re: Blessed Virgin Mary Crying Out Blood by Ubenedictus(m): 8:04pm On Mar 10, 2013
Boomark: Why i wrote that is because she gave a cunning answer which you agreed to.

I said that Jesus created Mary, therefore he is Mary's father.

She said, "God the Father is her Father, God the Son is her son and God the holy spirit is her spouse(this one too needs clarification). With this she left out the fatherly role of Jesus over Mary which is our focus point. This faults the statement that "Mary is the mother of God." She can't be the mother of her father.

God's position remained static while Jesus was glorified above his original position. Therefore he is not equal to God before and after his stay on earth.
u are reading what isnt there. mary gave birth to her creator is dat hard for u to understand?? as 4 spouse, i'll like to ask u a question, who is responsible for mary's pregnancyhuh

HugeMac: whats the difference between Glory and honour , stop deceiving yourself.
Did Jesus ask u to glorify Mary or God.
If u honour Mary that means she has done a lot for you. And we all know that is God that does these things through people. Only God sent his only begotten son. All honour goes to God .
Why dont u honour Paul or John the baptist. Stop this idolatry
HUMAN BEINGS NA WA OO
and 2morow u will call ur governor ur excellence and u"ll come back here and tell me honour belongs to God alone. where did ur bible say honour belongs to God alone??
