Christianity Etc › Re: Pope Benedict Resigned To Avoid Arrest And Siezure Of Church Property by Ubenedictus(m): 6:23pm On Feb 18, 2013
Lovethywilbedon: Okay, thank you for the information. May God bless you. Please Ubenedictus I hope this is what you meant by charity? That this guy will spread all these lies against the Catholic Church and I will let him go free, and shouldn't rebuke him, sometimes using harsh words as John the Baptist and Christ used on the Pharises and the Scribes who are blasphamers. Please Brother if I am wrong please let me know. I know the Cans of Worms I would have Opened on this guys head this early morning for spreading these lies if not for your Kindly Correction. But before I go, let me highlight the following Points: [1].Honestly, it is from this guy[EVIL BRAIN] that I read for the very first time that Catholic priest are going about Ra.ping women and Children. I have heard of few priests commiting sins agains the 6th commandment but not ra.pe which involves force and demands that a priest will leave the parish house(which they don't share with anyone except few worker who in most cases are 99.9% male who are old enough to work) and visit a neigbour only to ra.pe his wife and children. [2]. It is not possible for a priest to ra.pe a woman in the parish house since any woman who trespassed the visitor restricted boundry(mostly at the sitting room) and followed a priest right into his room must have concented. On the other hand the parish house is not the best place for a priest to ra.pe a woman because of the shameful, humiliting result it will have on the priest if the woman was REALLY RA.PED, you know what I mean. [3].The other option is in a hotel room and I don't see how a woman who follow a priest into a such a place will call what happened there a ra.pe. [4].Besides, priests are public figures, they are easily identified by their parishoners no matter how they disguise, no matter where they go, even in the house of prosti.tutes. They will see a parishoner there. So it is not easy for priests to commit any sex.ual sin and easily cover it up from the public, takless of the thousands you said they have ra.ped probably in their homes since a priest won't be ra.ping someone in a hotel room and neithe is the parish the best place to ra.pe "if it involves REAL RA.PING". So I dont know where this story of priests "Ra.ping thousands" is coming from today if it is not from your "TRUELY" EVIL BRAIN. Brother Ubenedictus please forgive me for using that word "TRUELY". I just can't avoid it, since I think it is more charitable than the one I have use in the past.
dont mind him, the "rape" he is talking about doesnt involve women, i think he shuld correct himself, it is pedophila, (child sexual abuse) not woman rape.

I think u shuld 1st establish u credibility and ability to make a reason discussion by apologising for the conspiracy theory u pasted above. After u have prove u can make reasoned discussion i'll be happy to discuss ur points. Till then it will suffice to answer point no 3
Evil Brain: 3. Joseph Ratzinger was the head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith before he became pope and was thus directly responsible for dealing with child molestation cases. As such, he is answerable for any and all cover ups at the level of the Vatican for the over two decades he was there. This is a fact.
this is very heavy misinformation, card joseph wasnt "head" of the congregation for d of the faith, no the pope is the head of those congregations card joseph razinger was the PREFECT of the said congregation.
And actually he isnt responsible for any coverup while in dat office! The catholic church isnt like d protestant church, d c c has rules that guide such cases, when an accusation of such nature is made against a priest, it is the duty, responsibility and obligation of the local BISHOP to immediately report the case to the police and set up a panel to gather information as regard d case while also reporting cases that have substatial evidence to the congregation on doctrine so as to proceed with ecclesiatical judgement. U dont expect card joshep and his congregation in rome to report cases to texas police! That is d work of d bishop of texas. The only thing card joseph office does is serve as a court of appeal in ecclesiatical judgement to the episcopal panels. In essence the guy that reports cases to the police and gives and execute ecclesiatical judgement against a priest is the Local BISHOP not card joshep. That is why d coverups can be traced to d bishops but not to d prefect in rome becos d prefect has no business with the police case.
He is not aswerable at all.
Helping to cover up thousands of ràpes is just as much a crime as commiting the rápes yourself. This was not a one-time mistake, It was a systematic campaign of obstruction of justice. Their actions gave many pedöphile priests the confidence to continue their horrible acts upon innocent children. In some some cases, priests who'd already been accused were allowed to ràpe again. This scale of criminal behavior cannot be allowed to go unpunished. Some people have to go to prison for this. And pope Benedict is the most obvious of them.
how does the issue concern benedict legally? No one can reasonably say he covered anything up becos it isnt his work to open anything in d first place, d congregation in rome cant be held responsible 4 failure to report a texas case to texas police. The issue lacks merit when brough b4 a law court.
Christianity Etc › Re: Pentecostal Christians Existed Before Roman Catholic by Ubenedictus(m): 12:02am On Feb 18, 2013
Neddivine: 1.They claim catholic was the first church ever founded but the apostles gathered with their converts and are termed among pentecostals as 'the early church' and they were called christians. The never had rosary or the statue of mary etc.The apostle paul founded many churches during his missionary journey as indicated in the book of Acts. Those weren't catholic churches. The Lord Jesus upbraided many churches in Revelation chapter2.Those were not catholic churches.
so if a woman gives birth and d child is called "baby" by visitors and on the 4th day d parents give baby a name eg joy, does that mean baby is different from joy? In the earliest stage of the church it wasnt named instead it adopted d name of d town or city eg 'the church in rome' or "the church in ephesus" as time went on the church was name by the christians according to her mission. That is "the church to the universe", the catholic church. Just as baby isnt different from joy so is d early xtian church not different from the catholic church. And it took time b4 xtians stated using d rosary, but on the other hand, the early church had images just as d catholic church does.

2.They claim peter was the first pope and founder of catholic church which is nowhere in the sciptures.Catholic popes and priests don't marry which is why many of them are accused of gay practices,&secret immoralities but peter was married and is automatically disqualified from being a catholic priest let alone a pope.
sorry my dear, u have been misinformed there are many married catholic priest like st peter and many celebate catholic priest like st paul and john. Correct urself.
3.About all the apostles and multitudes of disciples of christ in the early church were married except paul who never taught it was compulsory for a minister of Christ. So where did the catholics get their doctrine of compulsory celibacy for priests.Certainly not from the scriptures.
u again have been misinformed paul wasnt d only celibate in d early church, john is also called a "virgin". And in the catholic church there is no doctrine called "compulsory celibacy", like i said earlier there are many married priest. Catholic teaching on celibacy is based on 1 cor 7:32-35.
4.They claim they are following tradition of the apostles. How can these their traditions so much contadict the very writings of the apostles in the scripture and even the entire scripture e.g the statue of Mary & other saints etc.
now you must be joking!
5.They claim Joshua fell down before the ark of God hence they worship marry.Didn't the apostles & disciples of christ know that Joshua fell down before the ark of God?Why didn't they make a statue of Mary and a rosary in Acts of the apostles to tell christiandom that its the right thing to do since Joshua fell before the ark of God.Besides if Joshua falling down before the ark of God justifies catholics to bow to mary then all the Idol worshippers in entire Nigeria & world can claim too they are right to bow to their dumb idols since Joshua fell before the ark of God.
this is denial, a refusal to address the issue! U talk abt idol worshippers and use dat as a reason to condemn bowing. Are u aware that bowing and worshipping are different?
Christianity Etc › Re: Prophecy Says The Next Pope Will Be The Last Before The End Of The World! by Ubenedictus(m): 11:09pm On Feb 17, 2013
Laila Ikeji: The 12th century bishop of Armagh, Saint Malachy predicted that the next pope will be the last before the coming of Christ. That there will be only one more pope after Benedict, and during his reign comes the end of the world.

St Malachy, born in 1094 A.D. in Armagh, Ireland, had actually accurately predicted the place and time of his own death: Clairvaux, France, on All Souls Day, November 2, 1148.

Whilst he was on a visit to Rome while alive, he had a vision of all the popes who would ever reign. He gave each of the popes a short title or verse supposed to tell what kind of Pope he would be.

The last 4 popes are named as below:
1.Of the Half Moon. JOHN PAUL I. 1978-1978
2.The Labor of the Son. JOHN PAUL II. 1978-2005
3.The Glory of the Olive. BENEDICT XVI 2005 – PRESENT
4.PETER THE ROMAN – MARCH 2013? – huh?

The last prophecy states, “In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Petrus Romanus, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations; after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End.”
The saint's final prediction 'Petrus Romanus' is now being linked to one of the cardinals who could be the next pope - Cardinal Peter Turkson from Ghana.

The Malachy Prophecies were first published in 1595, by a Benedictine monk & historian named Arnold de Wyon, who found them 5 years earlier in the Vatican archives. Arnold recorded them in his book, entitled: ‘Lignum Vitæ’.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2278037/Doomsday-fanatics-point-12th-century-prophecy-pope-the-end-world.html
i was recently informed that the popular "prophecy of st malachy" are medieval forgeries and have no connection to the historical st malachy.

Interesting
Enigma: ^^^ It shouldn't take you Catholics long to prove them wrong about this thread at least (as I don't know what led the pope to resign). Start by checking whether their link and story have anything to do with the real New York Times.

In fact the link might be one of those fraudulent links used to gather people's personal details. wink

EDIT I see that the link used in the OP here is not the one to the "NYT" as in a similar thread but to some blog; in that case check whether there is a real organisation such as the OP refers to. wink

Neva suggest any alternative for blood coz doctrines of medicine wud be followed nd not dt of their church.
Besides no reasonable alternative is available in developing countries like nigeria...
i fink they can b doctors, all they need to do is abstain from blood and blood transfusion.

Evil Brain: You are assuming that people care more about the church than they do about protecting children from habitual ped0philes, which is far from certain.

Child molesters are a special class of criminal. People will forgive almost anything, but when it comes to grown men doing dirty things to defenseless children a kind of red mist descends in front of their eyes.

And we're not talking about one or two kids here. They've been literally thousands or cases, not including those who haven't come forward. Thousands of cases, over several decades occurring all around the world.

Are you really sure people are going to be so eager to defend a bunch of child molesters or the corrupt organisation that facilitates r@pes and protect r@pists?
I wouldn't be so confident.
and no one can prove that the pope did any coverup! I'm not resposible for the moral screwup of my brothers, d pope isnt responsible for d rape of d priest.
Christianity Etc › Re: Pope Benedict Resigned To Avoid Arrest And Siezure Of Church Property by Ubenedictus(m): 7:52pm On Feb 17, 2013
Evil Brain: Give them time. Big media houses would want to verify from multiple sources including the authorities planning the arrest. The problem is that its difficult to confirm that there are plans to issue a warrant until it actually happens. Plus its still possible the the church's powerful friends will still manage to stifle the process before it reaches fruition.

In any case, we already know that priests have been r@ping children, that the church has been covering it up for decades, and that pope Benedict was directly involved. There is more than enough evidence to jail him and many of the other church leaders. If any other organization did what they did, they would be rounded up just like any other group of criminals. And remember that we are talking about children being abused. Why is it so far fetched to believe that the authorities are finally waking up to their responsibility?

Benedict is the first pope in 598 years to resign. Plenty of others before him have gotten old and sick, yet they didn't resign. This is the best explanation available.
actually there is totally NO evidence to arrest him nor to jail him! All that joke u pasted above is d work of mass media. Benedict cant be linked to the cover up at all!
Christianity Etc › Re: Pope Benedict Resigned To Avoid Arrest And Siezure Of Church Property by Ubenedictus(m): 7:48pm On Feb 17, 2013
Evil Brain: Its easier to arrest and prosecute Benedict because before he became pope, he was the head of the organisation directly responsible for dealing with child r@pe cases. To get the next pope, they'll have to start building another case against him from scratch. Plus the church can choose a pope that has few or no direct links to the cover-ups. Changing the pope is the best move the church can make right now. It doesn't solve the problem completely, but it buys them plenty of time, and reduces the likely damage to the church.

All you need is a pair of handcuffs and a small jail cell. What's hard about that?
it will be almost imposible to prosecute a sitting pope, u'll have to go to hague, not european union, i mean hague! If anything his resignation gives his alledge prosecutors a chance. That is why dis story is false! If he did recieve such a warrant d logical thing to do is to remain pope, becos then only hague can work his case, resigning doesnt help anyone. Not to talk of d fact that d e.u cant arrest him.

Christianity Etc › Re: Pope Benedict Resigned To Avoid Arrest And Siezure Of Church Property by Ubenedictus(m): 7:38pm On Feb 17, 2013
Evil Brain: Aside from being the head of the Vatican, Benedict/Ratzinger has long been involved in the covering up of ped0phile scandals. As a cardinal, he was the head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the catholic organisation that deals with such cases. In 1985, he wrote a letter asking that the "good of the universal church" be considered before sacking an American priest who had molested two boys.

A few years ago, some British activists, including Richard Dawkins, tried to get the guy arrested on his last visit to the UK. The authorities failed to do their duty then, unfortunately. Thank goodness justice is finally prevailing.
dawkins cant make d police arrect ben becos benedict is immune from persecution. This is a conspiracy theory. And actually no one can prove razinger covered anything up.
Christianity Etc › Re: Pope Benedict Resigned To Avoid Arrest And Siezure Of Church Property by Ubenedictus(m): 7:35pm On Feb 17, 2013
Evil Brain: The ITCCS managed to convince an unnamed European country to issue an arrest warrant against the pope. The country gave the Vatican the heads up on the Feb 4 that they were planning to issue an arrest warrant on Feb 15th. Once an EU country issues an arrest warrant, all other EU members are legally obligated to arrest the subject once he enters their territory. That means that Benedict/Ratzinger would be unable to travel around Europe and carry out his duty as pope without risking arrest. It also means any EU country that hosts him will be forced to either arrest him, or break EU law.

The pope then decided or was forced to resign in order to avoid this. Resigning allows him to stay in Vatican city permanently where he is safe from prosecution.

Capisce?
actually this is a stupid story! Remaining pope would actually protect him from all prosecution, no country can arrest him without violating international law. So my dear, ur story is highly flawed.

Evil Brain: It seems that the mainstream press is deliberately turning a blind eye to this story. The news has been out for at least a few days and CNN, FOX and co are systematically ignoring it.

I guess Catholics in positions of power are still doing their best to protect mother church. Which is exactly what got them into this mess in the first place.
foxnews isnt on d story, because it isnt a story. This is a fluke, no one is ignoring anything!

http://itccs.org/2013/02/13/pope-benedict-resigned-to-avoid-arrest-seizure-of-church-wealth-by-easter/
this is a fluke, the pope esp d sitting pope is protected by international law, thus he posseses immunity, no country or group of countries can declear a sitting pope wanted.

nne3870: Looking at the scriptures even christ at a point before his passion on the cross, wept bitterly knowing what he has to undergo, to me I feel it was a difficult task for him but since it was the will of God, he had to do it.
Abraham was told to leave his home country in search of a place where God will show him, fufiling the 'will' of God he obeyed, we were also told he was asked to sacrifice his only son isaac. The task of sacrificing his only child was a difficult one but that's the will of God and he had to follow instructions.
I recall what happened to friend's sis who kept praying for a life partner, it took her time to accept the 'will' of God cos what was revealed as her husband was a 'cross' as far as am concerned, but she had to accept the 'will' of God.
Now serving God is a beautiful thing but most times his will for us are usually difficult to accept and at a point I feel he doesn't love us that's why he is making a 'heartbreaking' choice for us.
Why is it so?
Why does his will conflict with our will as his sons and daughters?
the flesh is weak.
My ways are not your ways.

[2]."THAT is NOT IDOLATORY". [3]."The posture of KNEELING is NOT IDOLATORY". [4]."It is only ONE of the GESTURES or POSITIONS in PRAYER". On the other hand, I want you to know that I am glad to hear these words coming from a Non-Catholic. But we Catholics have been making EXACTLY the SAME STATEMENT over and over again, thousands upon thousands of time in the past, in defence of our "GESTURE or POSITION" of prayer but you Penticostals won't admit the TRUTH. I will bet my head that you protestants won't use these words if this thread is about "Catholics praying before a statue". Unfortunately, now I INVENTED a "LITERARY WORK" that will Perfectly, TURN THE TABLE AROUND, consequently, putting we Catholics on the offensive and you Protestants on the DEFENSIVE, guess what you used to defend yourself? "THE EXACT WORDS OF THE CATHOLICS" that you REJECTED countless number of times in the past. That is not idolatory. The posture of kneeling down is not Idol worship either. It's only one of the gestures or positions in prayers. Jesus knelt down ,Paul' knelt down.. You don't labell every church by the practice of just one church. If you're not comfortable with a church system simply walk into another. But don't criticize
so kneeling b4 an object is reverence not idolatry wow, wen catholics do same u guys scream "idolatry!!!" i say "hypocrisy"
