budaatum:actually a reading of scriptures as you described above without religion and belief is certainly not in any way objective. The Bible was written by religious people, the immediate audience for which it was written are religious people, Israel and later the church. To read the Bible without religion and belief is the exact opposite of how it was written to be read, by so doing you arrive at defective conclusions. |
amakadihot87:Huh? how did that happen? |
budaatum:mary does not posses in d sense of 'own' grace, she too received grace. Grace is the divine goodness shown to us creatures. God 'has' grace, we all receive grace from him. 'Mary's grace' is an odd statement. |
THIS IS A GOOD ONE, The next time you hear someone praying against EVERY principality and power and trying to bind and cast all of them, please DO NOT SAY amen. |
budaatum:I know u dont believe in the HS, so ur post above leaves a bad taste on my tongue. |
tesppidd:They have forgotten that politics is first and foremost local. |
MiddleDimension:How all this take concern me? |
budaatum:I do not regurgitate what i am told, I hold a position because i am convinced it is correct not just because someone said it. If u disagree then disagree but dont insinuate that i dont do my own thinking. |
MiddleDimension:third eye? my hand no dey that one. Candles or lamps are symbols found all over the bible both old and new testament...it does not make prayer more effective, it is a symbol from the bible and used in all ancient christian church liturgy, do u remember d vision of John about 7 candle sticks....? it is used as a symbol of christ, light of the world. you can browse abt it, i dont think i have d time to go into symbols i doubt u will even b open to appreciate |
new2012:Those 4 courts are courts of coordinate jurisdiction and do not have the power to order the CCT, their judgements were set aside. The court of appeal is the court with that power, and it has refused to stop the case. |
higgs:The CCT is a special court unlike the regular court its cases are supposed to be quick. another special court is the election tribunal. |
ejose4real:We already tried him and obj, they harmed us, and you still say there is no harm in trying? Why should we try him again and be harmed again? what has changed? |
dguyindcorner:Abeg tell them, is it not the same atiku that was VP? apart from been younger Is he better than buhari? |
crazydude1:They have paid them their money, 50b is for revitalisation fund. |
Ihedinobi3:they also debated books like song of songs, they knew that it was the duty of the believing community to discern what is scripture and not assume that it false down from the sky, you of course will do same, you just think it should be done by individuals not the community. Lastly you are the person who has been defending a 10th century revision of the Hebrew Bible that mutilated messianic prophesies. Well, that was the point. When she recognizes writings that were not inspired at all, is that a decision or not? Just like I believe that you would consider it a decision when anybody claims to recognize no inspiration in the ApocryphaHere comes another one, Jesus promised his spirit to his church, he also promised his ever presence and added that the gate of hell will not prevail for that reason I have absolute trust that he keeps his promises and as the spirit guided the council in act 15 to teach what was necessary for the time, I believe he guides the church councils for all times so that they are authoritative and right in teaching. For that reason I don't believe the church founded on those promises ever recognised an uninspired text in council Groups of individuals do not possess free will. Free will is a trait that is possessed by and is only operational in individuals. That is why it is an individual matter, not a group affair.where do you get these your theories from, why do you think the will of a group isn't free? What makes it fixed, are those who make up the group not human beings? No Church did any such thing. The Scriptures have always spoken for themselves.that you say so doesn't make it true. This is where history puts the issue to rest, the church didn't such a thing, she recognized and canonised scripture in Hippo and Carthage. That much is clear Asked and answered.you're welcome Refer to my other response. As for the Hebrew rendering those passages differently, that is quite obviously not true.read up ihe. PS 40:7 what does the masoretic text say? Heb 10 quotes the same scriptures what does it read? What about PS 22:17? His reason for quoting the Septuagint is the same reason why trained pastor-teachers today simply quote translations of the Bible that they have when they are correct or when they render the meaning in a way that is perfect for their purposes rather than simply translate every single passage they call up.now you are presuming to know his intentions, that's a pretty poor argument. You are free to believe whatever you want. I'm just tired of repeating myself. Besides it is not necessary as demonstrated by your argument about Jews differing in what was Scripture and what wasn't: you answered your own self later.and here I was thinking you believed scriptures were always immediately recognized and it didn't take any time for the jews to set their canon... You see you are not even consistent with your points? Clearly not. The church you keep talking of is not a person. It is a group of persons. Corporately, it does not possess what persons possess which makes them able to do stuff like this as I have already explained in another response.lol, this sounds funny, so a group of people cannot discern together? You see what Protestantism has caused for you, because act 15 tells me it is possible. It was not a joke at all.Edicted |
budaatum:i mean set apart in the sense goldenventures explained. We are called by his name isn't about deification. And the way christians explain theosis is different from how it is explained in those cultures. you are gods, deification is a important subject but I don't believe that is the meaning of called by his name. |
Sad when a minister somehow lacks that intimacy with God. Funny thing is that personal intimacy with God is exactly what he was taught for 10 years in the seminary, what was he doing all that time. |
Font page pls I hope this begins the process for greater religious freedom in the arabian penisula. |
I believe you already know that when the biblical authors describe their thought they sometimes use concepts already developed in the culture...this is no different but these adopted concepts are usually given new meaning, a bit more or a bit less than they originally meant. Watch out for that "a bit more or a bit less". |
Budatum, of course diefication is an ancient christian belief, but to be called by God's name means to be set apart for him. |
5thElement:1000 likes, neither buhari nor atiku should be anywhere near the presidency. |
Find peace in Christ whom you professed while on earth. Rest in the Lord. |
Dantedasz:A major response to Hitler's Pope came from University of Mississippi law professor Ronald J. Rychlak in his 2000 book on the subject, Hitler, the War, and the Pope.[27] Rychlak was acknowledged by the Vatican to have been given special access to their closed archives for his research.[citation needed] Rychlak disagreed with Cornwell's claim of having found a "time bomb letter", arguing that the letter in question had actually been written not by Pacelli but by his assistant, and moreover had been fully published and discussed in a 1992 book by Emma Fattorini (a highly respected docent at the University of Rome).[28] With respect to Cornwell's allegations of antisemitism, Rychlak stated that "When Pius XII died in 1958, there were tributes from virtually every Jewish group around the world".[29][30] Rychlak also alleged that Cornwell manipulated the photograph on the front cover of the American edition of the book, and incorrectly dated the photo as having been taken in March 1939, the month that Pacelli was made Pope. Rychlak charged that this had been done deliberately in order to give the impression that Pius had just visited Hitler when, in fact, the photo had been taken in 1927 as Pius was leaving a reception held for German President Paul von Hindenburg.[31] Robert Royal has also repeated this allegation.[32] In his 2005 book The Myth of Hitler's Pope, the historian and rabbi David G. Dalin also countered Cornwell.[33] Dalin suggested that Yad Vashem should honor Pope Pius XII as a "Righteous Gentile," concluding that "[t]he anti-papal polemics of ex-seminarians like Garry Wills and John Cornwell ... of ex-priests like James Carroll, and or other lapsed or angry liberal Catholics exploit the tragedy of the Jewish people during the Holocaust to foster their own political agenda of forcing changes on the Catholic Church today."[34] Dalin called the book's conclusions "unverified" and "strongly anti-religious".[35] Eugene Fisher, who has a PhD in Hebrew culture and education, said it was a "sad commentary on the secular media that this anti-Catholic screed was ever published".[35] In his book The New Anti-Catholicism: The Last Acceptable Prejudice, Philip Jenkins said that Hitler's Pope could not be understood except as a series of "very low blows against the modern Catholic Church, and specifically the papacy of John Paul II."[36] Ken Woodward, writing in Newsweek, stated that Hitler's Pope has "errors of fact and ignorance of context [that] appear on almost every page."[37] In an historical assessment of Pope Pius XII, the Encyclopædia Britannica addressed Cornwell's book in the following terms: "John Cornwell's controversial book on Pius, Hitler's Pope (1999), characterized him as anti-Semitic. [The depiction], however, lack[s] credible substantiation". The Encyclopedia further assessed his role in aiding Jews during the Holocaust as follows: "Although he allowed the national hierarchies to assess and respond to the situation in their countries, he established the Vatican Information Service to provide aid to, and information about, thousands of war refugees and instructed the church to provide discreet aid to Jews, which quietly saved thousands of lives".[38] 2013 book Disinformation: Former Spy Chief Reveals Secret Strategies for Undermining Freedom, Attacking Religion, and Promoting Terrorism by Rychlak and Pacepa criticises Cornwell and suggests the basis for many allegations were leaks from the Soviets as an attempt to undermine Catholic influence and thus weaken it as an anti-Communist enemy. |
HappyPagan:how did the Catholic Vs Pentecostal thing play in your house.? |
budaatum:this is why it isn't good to jump into a discussion without taking a full look at the line you're jumping into. Lord claimed I know the Bible is a plagiarized, I certainly am not aware of any such thing, I only know that the writers of scripture share similar stories with the people of the ancient near east and that those shared stories may very well be there with Jewish colouring. As for plagiarism, I am not aware. The Bible never says it was written by angels, of course it was written by men. Over the years some Christians have rejected the ancient canon, how does their rejection concern me? Next maybe he will tell me Jesus didn't exist because some Christians have reject the teaching that he is God and man... As in the former case their rejection doesn't change anything, the Christian Bible agreed on in antiquity has 73 books and if that isn't good enough for him that is his cup of tea. |
MiddleDimension:how does this concern me? |
Ihedinobi3:I am not a pessimist, I don't believe that ridicule comes always, if you present an issue truthfully and sincerely more often than you imagine you gain a little respect. telling half truths about a matter may get your peers to hail you but anyone who identifies those tiny bits of lies you have told will have less respect for both you and what you stand for. |
Ihedinobi3:here comes the insinuations which I am going to avoid for the sake of sanity in the thread. I would imagine that you would be greater than your post and that while your post is from you, it isn't you. Unless you are claiming that your post is a human being. |
budaatum:that may very well be your interpretation and in a subjective sense that may very well be what the text says to you as a person. The text I read of the last supper narrative hardly talked about faith, Jesus took a memorial meal and made it his own memorial. He took bread, blessed it and broke it gavery it out and said it is his body, the same body that he gives for us. He took wine did the same and said that is his blood, the very blood that seals his covenant... It doesn't get clearer than that for a historic Christian whether a catholic or Orthodox or oriental, Paul then tells us in his letters that the blessed cup of the early church liturgy is a participation in Jesus Christ own blood and the broken bread is a participation in Jesus's own body and warn that he who cannot discern what he is eating and he who is unworthy to eat it both court trouble for themselves. That's pretty simple for me, I don't need to import the theme of faith into the text, the text is about Jesus Christ giving us his body and blood as the anamesis of his sacrifice. That is pretty much the ancient understanding of that passage and you'll see it in the early Christian writing and more so all the ancient churches hold it. How was ur day? |
Syncan:I'll add my voice too. |
fantasy2018:Nobody goes into the priesthood and claim he was not aware, it take 8 good years of been informed abt it. you must be an adult to be ordained. if been celibate make people know something else then Jesus and Paul must be sexual deviant and they recommended that life for others. |
Dantedasz:So you suddenly became blind to read that the writer of the book totally denied the conclusions he made after 10 years of been debunked and refuted. |
