Christianity Etc › Re: Confessing Sins To A Priest , Right Or Wrong ? by Ubenedictus(m): 7:13pm On Jun 02, 2012
ijawkid: Jesus didn't also assume d power to forgive sins or judge people or condemn people.....

He was also given that power from a higher source........

The final point is both d priests and Jesus forgive sins.............

Look up italo's words he quoted from d scriptures.....mayb I can re-quote them....

""John 20:21 - before He grants them
the authority to forgive sins, Jesus says
to the apostles, "as the Father sent
me, so I send you." As Christ was sent
by the Father to forgive sins, so Christ
sends the apostles and their successors
to forgive sins""...

Do u now see what I meanhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuh

Its a chain........
you have diverted from the topic. The topic is confession not trinity. Jesus was sent, he has the power to forgive sins by the very fact that he is God. He has that power by the fact that he proceeds from the father. What the father is, the son is and so is d spirit except the distinctness as father son and spirit. The apostle to do have that power in themselve because they are not divine dat is why Jesus say 'recieve the holy spirit' that is why he breathed on them. Im intelligent by the very fact that im a human, the computer is 'intelligent' because of my intelligence, do you get it? The fact that a computer is intelligent doesnt imply that it is a human, the fact that the apostles can forgive sins doesnt imply that they are 'gods'. Logic, think!!!!!

ijawkid: Oh now u guys can come out and say Jesus did give his disciples d authority to forgive sins........I agree with that......

But didn't some1 also give Jesus d authority to forgive sinshuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuh?

My pointhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuh?

Normally when I have arguments here on NL as regards d trinity ish,one point trinity apologist give is that Jesus forgave people there sins.......

And that it is only God almighty that has d right to forgive sins and so Jesus is Yahweh or almighty God because he forgave sins.......

Now from ya point even his disciples can forgive sins absolutely(ur priests)))))))

I think ur priests are part of d trinity...
again you are confusing issues. Jesus had the power to forgive sin. The apostles recieved to power to 4give sin in the name of God. There is a difference.
Christianity Etc › Re: Confessing Sins To A Priest , Right Or Wrong ? by Ubenedictus(m): 1:04pm On Jun 01, 2012
maryswags: For me, confessing to a priest is wrong because Jesus christ came to die for our sins. in the old testament it was necessary to atone for our sins via d blood of animals and all that stuff, but in the new testament, jesus christ is our mediator. we should confess our sins to Jesus christ the living God
for you it is wrong and yet james say u should confess ur sins to another. Y do u tink Jesus gave the church the power to 4give sins? So they shouldnt use the power?

Dont tell me that you believe in fairy tale
OLAADEGBU: And while you are still at it let me give you some food for thought.

When I first learnt about the doctrine of the Immaculate conception I thought that they referred to the Virgin conception of our Lord Jesus Christ but then to my dismay the RCC proved me wrong when they defined their dogma that it was referring to "Virgin Mary's" sinless conception.

Luke 1:46-47 disproves the theory of the immaculate conception or the total absence of original sin in Mary as taught in the RCC.

Mary said these words:

"And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Saviour"
wow have you ever read the works of don scotus? He explained this passage thoroughly, try to google it up. Mary was saved by christ before birth, john the baptist was saved in womb mary was saved before conception.
If she acknowledges God as her Saviour, what was she saved from if not sin? It follows that if God was her Saviour then she must have been a sinner in order to be saved.
she have been saved from original sin and actual sin. Yes she has all the reason in the world to thank God who save her from all sin.
Mary had already admitted that she needed a Saviour and in obedience she brought her sin offering according to the Jewish tradition of mothers, which was two turdledoves to the temple for purification. (Lev.12:6-8; Lk.2:21-24).

"And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lordwink And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons" (Luke 2:21-24).
well read about the law of moses. When a lady mensurate she goes for purification it doesnt mean she sinned it is because the leviticus law thinks that when you touch blood you are unclean. So when a lady mensurate, bleeds or give birth she goes for purification. Please read your bible. Purification doesnt imply sin it imply uncleaness of the law.
It is another deception that Mary did not consumate her marriage after the birth of Jesus, as she had four sons and at least three daughters. Check them out in the following scriptures. Luke 8:19; Matt.13:55-56; Mark 6:3; Matt.1:25; Lk.2:7; Psalms 69:8-9; Matt. 12:46-50; Mk.3:31-35; Lk.8:19-21; Jn.2:12; 7:3-10; Acts.1:14; and it is most likely that the Elect Lady referred to in second epistle of John was Mary and her children.
the lady elect? Wow you are speculating.
These false doctrines and others were started by the pagans in the RCC around 300-310 AD in their attempt to raise the profile of Mary from a mere 'handmaid of the Lord' Lk.1:38 to that of "mother of God" and to invest her with divine powers as a goddess. Hence, preparing the way for identifying her as the goddess of paganism, who is supposed to be the mother of a divine son, and who is yet a virgin. Such as Isis, the mother of Horus who is depicted to be always with a son in her arms, or Diana in Ephesus known as the mother of gods identified with Semiramis or Ashtoreth and Baal in Israel. or Venus and Jupiter in Rome known as goddess and child. It is no surprise that the adherents of Islam and other occultic groups have the misconception that Christians believe in God the Father, the Mother and the Son as trinity.
wow you believe in fairy tale. The reason muslim thinks the spirit is feminine is becos the greek word for spirit is roah and it is feminine. That is their misconception it has nothing to do with the RCC. The RCC proclaim the doctrine of trinity and mary is not divine you are just trying to insult catholic and it is really bad.
The RCC even honours Mary as the spouse of the Holy Spirit. shocked
hahaha so you dont even understand the metaphor 'spouse'? It means that Jesus wasnt concieved because of joseph, it mean Jesus was concieve by the power of the spirit. Please and please the RCC HAS NEVER SAID MARY HAD DIVINE POWER AND SHE IS NOT A GOD.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Mother Of Us All by Ubenedictus(m): 12:20pm On Jun 01, 2012
OLAADEGBU: The Oracles of God determine what is or not the inspired Word of God and it needs no interpretation because it did not come from any private interpretation.
well my bible says that the spirit is the interpreter of the word of God and d church is the pillar and foundation of truth and the book of act teaches me how the holyspirit interpretes scripture thru the church. That is why the council of jerusalem say ''it seem good to the holyspirit and to us''. That is how the new T was compiled.
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished to all good works" (2 Timothy 3:16).
do you know that when paul wrote this there was nothing like new testament? He was actually talking about the old testament.
Here is what Isaac Newton said about the Holy Scriptures:

"We account the Scriptures of God to be the most sublime philosophy. I find more sure marks of authencity in the Bible than in any profane history whatsoever"

Even the accurate history books cannot compare to these books of supernatural origin, and certainly can't be compared by mythical books of pagans. If your book goes contrary to what is written in the 66 books of the Bible then you are on your own.
well your bible has 66 books because the first protestant called luther removed 7 old testament books. The apostles taught orally too but you protestants think that is not important.
You can read it in Fox's book of Martyrs, there you will find out the fate of the apostles and many others.

Philip was stoned to death in Phrygia, A.D. 54;

Peter was crucified in Rome, A.D. 69;

Paul was beheaded in Rome in A.D. 69;

Andrew was crucified in Achaia, A.D. 70;

Matthew was beheaded in Ethiopia, A.D. 70;

Thomas was speared to death at Calamino, A.D. 70;

James (The Less) was clubbed to death in Jerusalem, A.D. 63;

John was abandoned on the Isle of Patmos, A.D. 63.

A Church father named Justin Martyr said:

"You can kill us, but you cannot do us any real harm"

He was martyred in A.D. 165.
all those guy were catholics. Have you ever read the works of justin. Check and see if the early church was protestant. You history book came form catholic source.
You can go ahead and show us your historical books but note that spurious claims does not qualify as historical books, it must be corroborated by two or more witnesses. I have already told you how the dogma of the Immaculate conception came about in 1854 in the article I posted above, if you have anything other than that please post it.
the immaculate conception was proclaimed in 1854 is didnt 'come about' in 1854 learn the difference.
Will you accept the Biblical references that I will quote as your final authority in all matters of doctrine or is it your church that takes priority?
who interpretes the word of God? Answer: the holyspirit. How? Answer:thru d church.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Mother Of Us All by Ubenedictus(m): 11:58am On Jun 01, 2012
OLAADEGBU: Whatever our Lord Jesus Christ or His apostles said orally that was not written down in Scriptures cannot contradict what has been written, they can only corroborate it. So whatever oral tradition that you've been indoctrinated with that has no basis or backing from the inspired Word of God should not be taken as the Word of God.

We have words of God, words of men and words of devils. Whatever contradicts or opposes the written Word of God should be disposed of.
and who determine what is opposed to the word of God? Who determined which book should be in the new testament? Do you know that the bible says the father is greater than the son and yet xtains belief in the trinity?
As for the the apostles that were or were not martyred you can consult historical books written. We only have the first martyr written the Acts of the Apostles shortly before Peter was arrested. And if you are challenging me to give you Scriptures that contradict your so called Immaculate Conception I would gladly oblige your indulgence.
hahaha,a good way to change the topic.

OLAADEGBU: Whatever dogma revealed to your church should not contradict the inspired Word of God. Have you forgotten the lot of those who either add or subtract to the word of God?
wow do you even know how the new testament was compiled.
Historical records can be read but this does not mean that they should be included to the inspired Words of God.
do you even know how the ndw testament was put together?
Christianity Etc › Re: The Mother Of Us All by Ubenedictus(m): 11:45am On Jun 01, 2012
Ptolomeus: 1. 1. You do not just read Luke, read the entire Bible.

Matthew 12:46-47 - "While Jesus was speaking to the crowd, his mother had
and his brothers. Standing outside, and wanted to talk to him. Someone said:
'Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, wanting to talk to you. "(NIV)
Matthew 13:55-56 - "Is not this the carpenter's son?
Is not his mother called Mary, and not his brothers James,
Joseph and Simon and Judas? Are not all his sisters with us?
So where did all these things? "

Mark 6:2-3 - "When the Sabbath came, he began teaching in the synagogue.
- Where did this man get these things? - said many wonder
who heard him -. What wisdom is this which has been given?
What explains these miracles that come from your hands?
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of
James, Joses, Judas and Simon?
Are not his sisters here with us? "
Juan2: 12 - "After this he went down to Capernaum with his
mother, his brothers and his disciples, and
were there a few days. "
Hechos1: 14 - "All in one spirit, engaged
to prayer, along with women and
with the brothers of Jesus and his mother Mary. "
1 Corintios9 :4-5 - "Have we not right to eat and
to drink? Have we no right to travel
accompanied by a believing wife, as do other
apostles and Cephas and the brethren of the Lord? "
Galatians 1:19 - "I saw no other apostles;
except James, the brother of the Lord. "
learn the meaning of the word adelphos and it usuage by the jews also learn to read the bible in context. Mary didnt have sex before the birth of christ that is why she say ''how can that be since i know not man''.
After that, I accept your apology in advance. But do not quote the bible if you do not know.
wow i dont appreciate sacasm especially when it is insultive. Try to speak with charity, it helps.
2. Impose ideas on you? No way!.
My only intention is that you cease to be an ignoramus who talks about something that does not know, and give you a bath of humility that allows you to be humble and allow you to be an irrational fanatic.
You say a woman has a child and stay virgin? Ignorance and aberration Go! The child was born by the ear?
You try to reason, to grow.
real insultive wow! In case you dont check your dictionary a person who havent had sex is called a virgin, it is not alway about the hymen, wow. She didnt have sex that is why she says 'how can this happen since i know not man''.
3 In no passage is said that Joseph and Mary never had se.x. Much less after the birth of Jesus and his brothers.
Perhaps you are suggesting that Joseph and Mary had some kind of special s.ex?, Not vaginal?. That seems abominable from you!
learn the meaning of adelphos and it usuage in scripture.
4. Ok I accept your apology. It appears that you have had a moment of sanity. Right.
It would be good that you also understand that if Joseph and Mary had s.ex after the birth of Jesus (that says it yourself!), There was no reason to not have before.
hahaha, are you even a christain? So you dont think that mary was a virgin before the birth of christ? Ha!! You should have told me that you are clueless in scripture.
You said earlier that Joseph and Mary had chosen a se.xless marriage ... now says otherwise ...
you are puting words in my mouth again. I didnt say otherwise, i surprised you dont seem to understand english.
It is very difficult for you, to defend an indefensible position without falling into contradictions and you ridicule.
Think before you write, or be exposed to new situations ridiculous.
My respects.
you are the person with the sacasm and insults, it seems you cant defend your position so you just insult me and assume the worst. Hahaha.

OLAADEGBU: Tell what basis has this dogma got in biblical truth.
hahaha, i thought you had stopped this. You are trying to divert the discussion again. We are talking about pepertual virginity and you are bring the immaculate conception. The immaculate conception has been a belief for 2000yrs it was proclaimed a dogma in the 19th century. The pepertual virginity has been a belief for 2000yrs it was proclaim a dogma in the 5th century. You dont know the difference between the origin of a belief and the proclamation of a dogma. In case you dont know the trinity was proclaim around the 4th century.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Mother Of Us All by Ubenedictus(m): 11:11am On Jun 01, 2012
OLAADEGBU: Agreed, that you didn't start the discussion but you must agree that we have digressed from the main issue at hand here but 'am not complaining as long as the truth and not dogma is preached.
that is where you confuse issue, the dogma is truth.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Mother Of Us All by Ubenedictus(m): 11:08am On Jun 01, 2012
OLAADEGBU: There is no doubt that Jesus is the firstborn of God but does that rule out other siblings after His birth?

"And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS" (Matthew 1:25) The Evidence Bible.
now i think you are confusing issue again. In the greek when the word for untill is used it does not imply that anything happened or didnt happen after, the word untill in greek doesnt have anything to do with the future italo explained it but you wouldnt listen. The bible say ''he shall remain at d right hand of the father untill all his enemies has been made a footstool'' that doesnt imply that after his enemies has been made a footstool he will sit at the lefthand of the father. Please hope you would research on this and not ignore it as you did with italo.
Mary certainly remained a virgin after her marriage to Joseph until after the birth of her firstborn son, Jesus. Later, however, she did have other sons. You can check it out again in (Matthew 12:46).
please learn the meaning of untill.
We are talking of His siblings from Mary and not adopted sons into the family of God. Let's not mix issues here.
im not missing issues, when the jews talk about firstborn they dont mean 2ndborn or thirdborn.

U need to read ya bible more bro...........

That valley was a known location in isreal............
yeah it was, so when Jesus said dead sinners will be in that valley what did he mean? Have you read the parable of the rich man and lazarus? Hell was the word used to denote 'valley of hinnom' when it appears to talk about the dead. Jesus also made parable of the weed that are thrown into the fire. Now tell me are u saying that Jesus is telling them that the dead sinners will be in the valley of hinnom? Or was he using that imaginery to describe the abode of sinners? I deny the abode of sinners after death is just one large heresy like saying that a human doesnt have a soul.

The word ""hell"" isn't even suppose to be in d bible more or else ""hell fire"".................

I bet u know thathuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuh

Wow!!! This is a delicate topic but very clear. How i wish the person who quoted those paragraph from the cathechism read and understand them. The priest absolves sins by the power given to him by christ when he said 'whosoever sins you forgive are forgiven whosoever sins you retain are retained'. The protestants lost that power when luther lost his priesthood. Im sorry that your pastor cant exercise what christ told him to do. If you have any question please write one question in one post and be polite so i can answer one aspect at a time. Please one aspect at a time dont put two together.

OLAADEGBU: The main reason I mentioned evolution was to bring us back to the main topic that I believe we have drifted from until you brought up one of your dogmas.
to be sincere i didnt bring any dogma to this discussion. I met you and italo talking about the perpetual virginity when i came in. Please check, i stand to be corrected.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Mother Of Us All by Ubenedictus(m): 1:50pm On May 30, 2012
OLAADEGBU: If that's how you see it then, I apologise for the logical fallacy. The fact still remains that Mary didn't remain a virgin after the birth of her "firstborn son" because there were the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th born to say the least that were sired by her and Joseph, Jesus' "legal" father.
thank for the apology and politeness in this discussion but i think you are confusing issues again, the term 'firstborn' doesnt imply a second born for the Jews, firstborn is a legal term that show the preeminence of the firstborn male over others. JESUS is also called the firstborn of God, but God doesnt have a second born, after the firstborn(JESUS) all we are are adopted son. So firstborn doesnt imply a second born. Im sure that there are other biblical examples but i will stop here.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Mother Of Us All by Ubenedictus(m): 10:25am On May 29, 2012
Ptolomeus: Dear.
I'm not talking about your personal life. I do not want at all. It occurs when you try to justify the virginity of Mary and Joseph (or perhaps Joseph was unfaithful to Mary) you appealing decisions and situations that are just your imagination, (as the Bible does not talk about virginity of Jesus or the apostles, nor explains why Joseph and Mary never had sex) I intend to make it clear to you that a third party can never know exactly how the sex life of another.
Do not invent things.
actually the bible is very clear that mary didnt have sex before the birthof Jesus. Read luke.
Be objective.
You have decided to live without love does not mean that Jesus and Mary have decided that stupidity.[/qoute] pls talk about something meaningful. What do u understand by love? Is sex love? I think your brain is messedup pls prove me wrong.
It is absolutely impossible that Mary was a virgin before Jesus was born, and you know it.
u are trying to impose ur ideas on me uh?
Really I do not at all interested in his private life, but if you were maybe a normal person would not be so fanatical and not judge the historical facts for their own decisions.
you see the big problem u are trying to put yourself. The problem is that the historical fact of abt 2000yrs say that Jesus and mary are virgins, where did u get ur history uh?
Christianity Etc › Re: Catholic And Jehovah's Witnesses, Which Is Better? by Ubenedictus(m): 10:14am On May 29, 2012
ijawkid: "Gehenna" is the Greek form of the
Hebrew "ge-hinnom." It literally means "valley
of Hinnom" Sometimes it is referred to as the
"valley of the sons of Hinnom." In the Old
Testament "Tophet(h)" also refers to this
place. "Gehenna" is a valley that lays on the
west and southwest of Jerusalem. In the
valley, Israel offered up its children as a
burnt offering to a god who came to be known
as Moloch.....

Gehennah's location is known......

If u want I could take u there.................
i see, the usual arguement over terminology right? The word gehena, lake of fire and sulphur, prison, is used in the new testament when talking about the fate of the sinner after death or the abode of demon. It doesnt mean a geographical location, that location is the imaginery used to describe the unpleasant state of the dead sinner, read your bible.

OLAADEGBU: That is what I will call circumstantial ad hominem fallacy, which is where a critic simply dismisses a person's argument based on the arguer's circumstances. Where have I used your circumstance to falsify your claim?
Christianity Etc › Re: My Trip To Malta And Another Reason To Be Atheist by Ubenedictus(m): 1:42pm On May 28, 2012
I post this for the sake of a good discussion. The catholic church was never big on tithes so i feel confident to say that the church in question has nothing to do with tithe. Malta was the island where st paul shipweck landed him (read the bible) and like all places the apostles visited a big church or even a basilica is built. Such church is also built in a big city that has a large number of catholic. The church in question is from the middle ages and that was the time of christain art. At the time that church was built those tapestries were not that costly nor was the painting. A good example of such is the basilicas of rome, the is a new basilica in spain (named after the holy family) both the old and new were middle age stucture the new one is built(it is not totally completed) on free will donations. St peters was built on charity (not to mention the abuse of selling indulgence) st lateran was donated to the church by an emperor. The lists of basilicas and the great church of the middle ages go on and on but nobody ask for tithes. The protestants of today have big church but it is a know fact that they dont display their belief in art.

the funclub enterprise: How many previous cases of slaps have been reported to court??
My teachers slapped me!
I grew up being slapped by my dad!,my mum!,my siblings!.
Police has slapped me!!
and I have seen a lot of slapsss everywhere in this country!....brutality worse than slaps!!
How many have been reported to the police let alone taken up by human rights activist!!

This is a big example of people who wants to bring his ministry down!!
I don't attend his church, but I'm a good christain and I sure know spirituality and logic don't go!!..in anything if u care to argue pls do!,no religion can u apply logic to that a question mark won't arise!
What the man did is a spiritual thing!
He can be tried!, even prosecuted, yes!,but ask urself how many cases have been treated like this?? If the girls isn't a witch or a betrayer why fight against ur leader!, why did she come out when he said witches should come out?
I know fegurson man u's coach once slapped a player, an international scene!, why wasn't he prosecuted.
Men I rest my case jor!....I see a lot of haters here!
if slapping is punishable in africa we should all be in jail!!
I have slapped people brutally and I have been slapped .....plss arrest me after this young man of God!....rubbish!
the fact that you have been slaped is not a reason to be a slap advocate. Anything that is evil should be fought, the fact that it has happened to you is not an excuse

OLAADEGBU: Evolution is what the OP about but the issue of Mary having other children is the side issue. The only reason I related it to your issue is that Evolutionists also hold tenaciously to the theory that the ape-like creatures are their ancestors just as you are holding to the dogma that Mary remained a Virgin after the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.

And as to the phrase Ad hominem, it can either be abusive or circumstantial. The bottom line is that it is an attack against the person making the claim. And I believe that I didn't attack, insult or abuse your person.
consort wikipedia it also include an attack on the persons belief.
