Nigeria, we always tend to put wrong people in the right positions, square pegs in the round holes. Because nothing is ever done on merit in this country. And people with the right qualifications and merits don't often do the man-to-man thing or don't even want to do it. They will rather focus on upgrading themselves with the right qualifications and skills, but unfortunately, those will not get them to the top in this country.

Take for instance when you were in school, you hardly go to your lecturer office because you know you can read and pass on your own. Most brilliant students are like this, they rather focus on their class works and tutorials and assignments because they believe in their ability to succeed independently. It is often those students with lack of commitment and sense of self that go to lecturers to cury favour.

But unfortunately, we don't have the structure where anybody can be absorbed into the system purely based on merits in this country. Even though there are still some who might get through the back doors, there should be a system that promotes and encourages merits from young Nigerians.
