izzou:

Lets stop lying to ourselves that every single profession can survive any terrain. Have you seen a Canadian doctor working in a General hospital in Nigeria?
A plant will grow when it had access to water and sunlight. It doesnt mean any amount of water or sunlight does the magic. Too much or too little will kill it
Nigeria is not providing the atmosphere for professionals to stay and even improve it. I worked for a company that uses generator for 19 hours everyday. Because of the instability of power, they use a gen and guess who pays for this extra cost? The end user
You can motivate yourself to make it here. It's absolutely fine. But don't ever tell yourself that those who leave are wrong. They are absolutely right, sir no mind am a country that aboki want to dominate and lead by force even when they are clearly not qualified to And the south acting stupid. .is this a country that has a future? Rubbish! |

sichri: In recent times, a lot of doctors, bankers and other professionals have fled the shores of Nigeria for greener pastures in Canada, Australia and other parts of the world.
No doubts, Nigeria is a tough place to live, judging by such indices as life expectancy, poverty ratio, social justice, etc. But in the midst of all these woes lies huge opportunities waiting to be tapped for personal and societal good. Sadly, while our people are seeking ways to leave the country, the Chinese and Indians are moving in to harness the opportunities the gap in health, transportation, food, construction, just to mention a few sectors have offered.
It is never a bad idea to look for better opportunities and a better life elsewhere. However, the question is, did those lands and their grasses just became greener by default? No! They are watered by deliberate efforts of citizens. People who: speak up against bad government, press for good governance through protest, and at times with their blood. At other times, citizens make sacrifices they may not directly benefit from, but for the good of future generations. We have the likes of Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela, etc who stood and fought for what many people are enjoying today.
We all owe this beloved country and future generations a duty to develop this nation.
This is the land of my birth, and I will never run away! interesting story |

YoungAncient1: It is high time political and traditional leaders from the East begin to take these matters seriously. The way some fellows be spoiling the name of the region is too much. Anytime you hear of drugs anywhere else other than in the UK, you know the culprits have to be Easterners.
One way to start is to ease this pressure of coming home big for the festive period and stop reserving titles for anyone who can pay. Let people earn traditional titles. interacting |

The socioeconomic atmosphere ain't helping matters too It's a big shame really what the country has become its what is spoiling the mind of the citizens |

nextstep: People like abusing his children, saying they are lucky to be born with a silver spoon. He himself could have rested on his own father's laurels, after all his dad was a governor. But instead he bought a shitty truck and was selling diesel door-to-door, hustling. Their own grandfather nko... I don't recall he was born into wealth, but he worked hard for decades. I see the same hustling spirit in his daughters who may one day be billionaires in their own right. Of course they're leveraging their parent's wealth and connections - isn't that what all children do?
Most youths today - if they looked hard - have much more opportunities for becoming successful today than in the 80's or even 90's. They will say "there's no money, they're no jobs"... yet people are making it in various ways.
Happy birthday gal, and keep on rocking. yes you have a point |

there willl be a mass exodus as well.

koyyes: Yes, I agree that Lagos was not planned well. But I don't agree that there are other equally notable commercial centres because almost all home and foreign establishments seem to have their location is Lagos first before and other state(s).
The plan from the beginning would have been not to make Lagos the main commercial centre. every country has it's Lagos It's new York for America Toronto for Canada London for England Paris for France Tokyo for Japan Beijing and Shanghai for China that is just the way it is Warri and PH had potential , but the fools there allowed their greed and foolish short sightedness destroy their place now businesses have fled, or are fleeing such places to Lagos that they consider safe and free. That is just the problem |

koyyes: That's quite shameful.
Why can't we have other commercial centres in other parts of the country?
Greed and foolishness. we have other commercial centres
But Lagos is the way it is due to lack of planning
Lagos was planned the very wrong way.
that is Lagos problem
if onitsha, or Kano was designed like Lagos
it would have been the same palava |

Bolustical: Except for the drug trafficking tendencies of some people we know, Nigeria is gradually getting shaped back. Our airport terminals are getting new faces, railways projects are nearing completion and our roads getting serious attention.
This Airport Road is one of the reasons PDP shouldn't govern Nigeria again coz they wouldn't have given Ambode the go-ahead to construct that road if they had been in power. This is is simply because they want to score cheap political points.
Lagos is for the progressives and not the regressives from the other side. They know themselves. |

wifeesnatcher: School is not scam. Too much of self reliance on employment is the scam here
It's only in Africa graduates see going to school as means of employment. The basic motive of going to school is for empowerment, if you don't empower as in developed yourself will the employers see the potentials in you
There are many graduates of sciences like biochemistry, microbiology and even those that studied Yoruba working in financial institutions today, why? Because they developed themselves and expose their reliance beyond their field
If school is not paving way for you, check yourself no be everybody go work for banks or under people. If those offices you're struggling to work under relied on getting employment as the etiquette of their graduating in an institutions, which company will you be lobbying to work under? The QUALITY of the education is what is in question here... issa big big scam |
